Isshin uses comedy to energize & entertain his family, i assume to keep them from depression. But there were times when he was serious especially during the memorial/memory period. 👍
speed running anime's is a disservice, coming home from high school and watching bleach and then binge watching it during the summer was peak (bias take it only means something when you're still a kid)
About Isshin joking during the anniversary of Masaki's death:
I don't know about in the anime dub, but in the manga Ichigo finds it disrespectful as well and asks how Isshin can joke about it and not hold it against him. Isshin then says that it's not his fault, and that he's proud that she protected him. He also tells Ichigo to live a good life, die after him, and hopefully do so while laughing all the while, or else Isshin wouldn't be able to face Masaki.
So I think despite it seeming off at first, the scene was handled really well. I just didn't know if this was adapted, so I thought i'd share some context for the scene.

Goat review. My experience watching it when it was airing ended up being filler so whenever I read it almost nothing I watched happened so that was kinda funny to me. Main reason I read the manga was to avoid filler and it wasn't fully adapted, but only a week after I finished reading it was when the new anime got announced. So still haven't watched it, but will eventually since I do want the experience with the ost. In the manga the author would list actual songs as themes for characters, so those became my ost while reading. The anime filler was forgettable, the only reason I didn't change the channel was the style and character designs.
Of the big three Bleach has my favorite artstyle. The squads vs squads is an aspect I think it does better as well. Didn't get that connected to the characters (aside from ulquiorra and that clown guy). The storyline was whatever to me as well, but the style is so 🔥.
And just wanna say, if you want world building One Piece is the best at that of the big three.
Definitely want to get to One Piece eventually, I think it will be my favorite anime once I’m done with it. In the meantime, I’m trying to watch everything I want to before starting One Piece since I think it’ll end up being my last anime I’ll watch (unless recommended shows or if something new pops up that I wanna watch/shows I’ve been following up on). But 100% agree with you I think Bleach has some strong positives and hard negatives. Makes me love and hate the show at the same time, and when I recorded the video I was high (no pun intended) on the show so I rated it higher than I expected. Probably would bring it down to maybe my 5th favorite anime of all time!

The soul society arc & hueco mundo arc was intended to be an ""Up side down mirrow of each other"".
The soul reapers are what arrancar's should aspire to be & could become if they ""didn't supress their himanity"".
And the arrancar's are what the soul reapers could become if they decide ""to supress their himanity"".
Like wise for Aizen & Yamamooto.

the thousand blood war acs are much better IMO
but yeah both animes suffer from too much filler and bad pacing, especially top 3 espada fights swapped between them too much. IMO rukia vs espada 9 aaroniero and Sajin Vs Tosen are the most emotional fights in the entire show. Not as hyped as Grimjow vs Ichigo or ulquiorra vs Ichigo (I think 2nd fight should have lasted longer) but gives bleach such poetic moments(especially sajin vs tosen and their philosophy.
Hueco mundo has quite terrible pacing and the fillers in between is pretty bad. As a binge anime not nearly as bad. I think binging fullbringer arc makes it a decent arc but when it was airing it was kinda hard to watch
@@jori626 I like the fullbringer arc but first couple of episodes with Ichigo going to see Fullbringers took a bit but once he gets his powers back it becomes much more interesting.
@@InugamiTheHound I remember watching it when it was airing and it felt like it was dragging a lot. But it's propably also bcs of they just finished airing filler so you would kind of expect for more and so. So everything adds up

Dude I’m glad you enjoyed Bleach the best way to experience Bleach is through the manga the OG anime did not adapt it correctly one of Ichigo’s most important character moments was put in a filler and not an actual canon episode which till this day still pisses me off definitely read the manga

228(beach episode), 230-256(zampakuto rebellion arc), 305, 317-341(regai arc)
Good/okay:
147-149, 213, 229.
256-265 - Watch zampakuto rebellion first before this.
287, 298, 303-305, 311-341, 355.
Kon/don kanoji fillers:
33, 50, 214, 311, 314
312 Omaeda (Lowest tier)
Movie wise i recommend movie 1 and 4 especially 1 since it's kinda canon, watch the prequel- 299 for movie 4

I kid you not, there's a reason why Isshin act goofy around his children and fight Ichigo every single time. And actually , there's a cool interaction of him in front his wife's grave in the manga. There's tidbits of foreshadowing at his 1st appearance as shinigami after fighting grand fisher , where he said to Uruhara about him killing that hollow not out of revenge and didn't blame it for lost of his wife. Also why he suddenly jump out and cut off Aizen's dialogue to Ichigo. Overall , he is the best father and husband figure in any shonen . Another thing , i kinda agree fullbring is kinda mid but don't you dare to diss my cousin , Tsukushima cause he is the G.o.a.t.
Lastly, you should grateful the slow pace in those episodes , take them while it last cause in Tybw arc , the pace is so unusually fast, you will complain about it later as feeling unsatisfied

Pacing in the Arrancar arc was ruined by filler.
No, not the filler episodes. (Bleach filler gets a bad rap, it's not all super terrible, there are some decent eps and 3 of the arcs have value depending on your tastes). THe filler moments; the anime team was desperately trying everything they could to stretch it out to avoid catching up to Kubo's manga writing. So there were all these long moments of the desert bros being extra silly, Chad, Ichigo, and even Uryu being extra silly, redoing things; yeah, anime-wise, the pacing of the Arrancar arc is atrocious. The manga is much cleaner and faster-paced, although it's still a HUGE chuck on content that takes time to get through
