A number of places, principally Iraq, Syria and Israel, at that time known as Ur, Charan, and Canaan. (Along with short stints in the Negev, Egypt and Gerar).

Avraham then moved to Charan with his father, what appears by the Torah’s brief account to be a span from not long after he married his wife Sarah until the age of 75. We don’t have an exact timeline, but we can guess it was about 30 to 40 years that he lived in Charan from some early point in his marriage until the age of 75.
Charan is Syria, though various opinions online have wrongly identified it as Turkey. The Torah itself tells us exactly where it is. It is identified as close to Padan Aram, in the same direction. Aram itself we know is certainly Syria, and the Arameans that descended from this locale became the founders of modern day Syria.
The Arameans were an ancient Northwest Semitic Aramaic-speaking tribal confederation who emerged from the region known as Aram (in present-day Syria) in the Late Bronze Age (11th to 8th centuries BC). [1]
To show that Charan and Aram are the same locale, when Yaakov sets out for Lavan’s house, the Torah says:
וַיֵּצֵ֥א יַעֲקֹ֖ב מִבְּאֵ֣ר שָׁ֑בַע וַיֵּ֖לֶךְ חָרָֽנָה׃
Yaakov left Beer-sheba, and set out for Charan.
And then it says of the local shepherds near Lavan’s house in Padan Aram, that they too were from Charan.
וַיֹּ֤אמֶר לָהֶם֙ יַעֲקֹ֔ב אַחַ֖י מֵאַ֣יִן אַתֶּ֑ם וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ מֵחָרָ֖ן אֲנָֽחְנוּ׃

He said to them, “Do you know Lavan the son of Nachor?” And they said, “Yes, we know him.”
So we see concretely from the Torah that as these shepherds were people from Charan, Yaakov knew he could ask them if they knew Lavan. Charan and Padan Aram are the selfsame location. One could be a town or city and another a smaller neighborhood or section of land within that township, most likely Charan, the town or city, and Padan Aram the name of the specific neighborhood where Betuel and Lavan resided. Certainly Charan couldn’t have been much larger a location than Padan Aram, or the shepherds from Charan would not have known of Lavan.
Therefore the two are closely identified with each other in the Torah. And thus we know that when the Torah says Avraham lived in Charan, it means that he lived in the same region of modern day Syria, or ancient Aram, that Betuel and Lavan later lived. So Charan is:
Syria.
Let’s also remember that Avraham’s trusted servant whose services he acquired during these travels was Eliezer the Damascan, Damesek Eliezer, from Damascus, the capital of modern Syria.
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אַבְרָ֗ם אֲדֹנָ֤י יֱהוִה֙ מַה־תִּתֶּן־לִ֔י וְאָנֹכִ֖י הוֹלֵ֣ךְ עֲרִירִ֑י וּבֶן־מֶ֣שֶׁק בֵּיתִ֔י ה֖וּא דַּמֶּ֥שֶׂק אֱלִיעֶֽזֶר׃

Continuing onward in the Torah narrative, when Avraham was 75 he left Syria and went to live in Canaan.
But he did not find a place to settle in Canaan, until he lived for a short time in the Negev and then in Egypt. Both of which are identified straight in the Torah verses in Chapter 12:
וַיִּסַּ֣ע אַבְרָ֔ם הָל֥וֹךְ וְנָס֖וֹעַ הַנֶּֽגְבָּה׃ (פ)
Then Abram journeyed to and fro in the Negev.

And he proceeded by stages from the Negeb as far as Bethel, to the place where his tent had been formerly, between Bethel and Ai,
אֶל־מְקוֹם֙ הַמִּזְבֵּ֔חַ אֲשֶׁר־עָ֥שָׂה שָׁ֖ם בָּרִאשֹׁנָ֑ה וַיִּקְרָ֥א שָׁ֛ם אַבְרָ֖ם בְּשֵׁ֥ם יְהוָֽה׃
the site of the altar that he had built there at first; and there Abram invoked Hashem by name.
He also did a short stint in Gerar, with King Avimelech, where the progenitors of the Philistine people lived adjoining Canaan.
And then he returned again to Canaan and lived out his days there, in modern day Israel.
