I cant stand how gaming media reviewers cannot be objective when reviewing. I had a long disagreement once in a comment section with a well known reviewer on that very point. He had no problem scoring well made games at a 4 out if 10 and poorly made games an 8 out of 10 depending on what he enjoyed. The comment section was split 50/50 in support of that and in support of my comments. I believe professional reviewers should remain unbiased and objective, you dont have to love everything, but still try to put yourself in consumers shoes. You absolutely do that when summarising and I really appreciate that.

I don't know where the Brotherhood gets their endless supply of expendable vertibirds but it always made for a fun "WTF just blew up in the distance I'll go check it out" gameplay moments

For those who don’t know the release date was pushed up a few hours respectively for Ultimate Edition owners. I know for the east coast it’s 9PM on the 5th of September.
@@leeeverett4067 No xbox doesn't do that anymore. If a the game comes out at 9pm est that means that since I live in GMT it will be 7pm for me when I get to play. They do that so every one gets the game at the same time. They don't do roll releases anymore.

I bought the ultimate edition as I always do with gears. I started buying the ultimate editions from gears 2 onwards and I regret nothing. I love the franchise
@@ComicsLamar they remastered the entire series for xbox one and the x. Which is included with gamepass. Same with halo Mcc. Even a reach remaster is being added for free. Every single xbox one exclusive is on gamepass and will be in the future at launch if not before.
Game Pass technically is renting, since it's gone when you stop subscribing. Not bashing Game Pass, it's amazing on a value for money proposition, but let's call it what it is.

It is but not how it tradionally was. With gamepass Microsoft actually gets a profit from each subscriber, while with traditional media they got nothing but the initial purchase which was passed around to an almost unlimited amount of people, 100% of the profit was for non related third parties.
I’ve liked most gears games but they’ve always felt like a T. rex with even smaller arms trying to shoot a target. It looks like they’ve improved this problem in 5 as it looks like they changed the reticle for some of the weapons for more accuracy
I got access to this game for $1 AUD with the Xbox game pass trial month (that's about 70 cents USD). Best value for money of the year by far even without the discounted trial game pass it's only about $15 AUD which is cheap af. A 1 dollar triple A game from Microsoft in 2019 with decent PC port!? Absolutely astounding.
I just started playing Gears 4 for the first time thanks to GamePass. I love everything about it so far. Looking forward to finding the space on my SSD to install Gears 5.

I'll answer for you, gears 5 is a sequel essentially to gears 4 there are a continuation of certain character arcs as well as plot points. Is it really necessary no not at all and they even have an in game video for you to catch up on everything within one of the game menus
Great review. Imho , the overall lore of Gears is one of the best in shooters. From the Locust origins , how humanity survived , etc. Its a unique spin on the "space marine" genre . In game , the stories seem to struggle the most with showing that though.
I'm just in it for the amazing graphics and turning the locust into a blob of goo lol. From a technical standpoint these games are honestly pretty amazing. Also Gears 1 was way ahead of its time.
I booted up the game and went to start Campaign and was thrown off that they got rid of “Hardcore” difficulty and change it to “Experienced” ... why they made that change on Gears 5 is so weird and I haven’t even started the game yet. I am glad they kept “Insane” in the game.

Loved the first 3. Fuck judgment. 4 ruined my love for the series. Coalition really fucked up with the constant horde nerfs that increased the grind and promoted buying loot boxes. Hopefully this game is better even though its now a live service.
Judgement gets a lot of hate, but the campaign was great. I hoped to see more of the Emergence Day battles or even when Marcus leaves his post to save his father in Epyria. That would be another good idea for a prequel came with the OG Locust Horde.
I enjoyed judgement. It was more arcade style gears. The only campaign I took the time to beat on more than one difficulty/100% completion (the mission challenges were awesome). 4 was BORING.
Can I ask a legit question? Why are helicopters so disregarded and portrayed as useless cannon fodder? God damn helo's are actually beasts in the sky and generally have tactics in place that prevent them from just getting shot down. Just my 2 cents
As a PS4 owner, I’ve had this game on pre-order to play on my nephew’s XBOne. Looking forward to playing it. Love the Gears franchise. Owned a 360 last generation, but other than this, microshit has nothing to offer.
Not gunna lie, because of gamepass my ps4 has been mostly dormant. Sure, xbox doesnt have as many exclusives. But getting them ALL past and future on gamepass for 5 bucks extra on top of xbox live a month plus a ton of brand new or relatively new 3rd party titles like devil may cry 5 plus all of the games with gold games I've collected and the fact that every 3rd party game looks and runs better on the x, makes the xbox one by far my most played console with the most games owned and played.

Gives you a 4k blue ray player which by itself is a little pricey and you can still use hdr on games. More triple a games come out every year that are cross platform than exclusives. I play more third party games than 1st party exclusives, most people do. So if I'm going to buy a game and I have the choice, I always always pick xbox. Superior online services and servers, superior sales, gamepass, the best controller especially for competitive games, AND the big one, I know for a fact that every game I buy on xbox one will be available on the new system with backwards compatibility as already promised. Sony has been reluctant to say this. That's a massive massive deal. You game purchases wont just disappear when jumping to the next console. Sony will just force you to rebuy the game or buy their 3rd remaster of the same title.

I miss old Gears. I want to play as Marcus and hear the cheesy one liners, and experience the dynamic of the original cast of characters. The new characters suck.
It's still weird Gears is still the only game with a reload mechanic as complex (FOUR reload speeds, one which gives you double damage? No one else does this)

Got a month of game pass for $1 to play Outerworlds, finished that in like 34 hours so I still have two weeks to play this one now as well. Seems like the best way to give this one a shot.
I love Gears 5 but damn they did us dirty with the lack of skins. It's blasphemy that they didn't include Cole and Baird from the jump but somehow Batista is in.
first three are the best but if you pick up at gears 4 and then play five you will be informed enough for the story of five. I do recommend playing the first three though!! Co-op makes it way more fun too they are built for co-op.

man they optimized the shiiiiet out of this game, i am really impressed!! I have a asus gtx 1080, ryzen 7 1700, ssd and 16gb ram, and play at 1440p on a gsync monitor. THE GAME RUNS FLAWLESSLY to the point that i cant believe it doesn't hiccup at all, and keeps the frames at above 70fps most of the time... man, hats of to the devs.

I enjoyed judgement. It was more arcade style gears. The only campaign I took the time to beat on more than one difficulty/100% completion (the mission challenges were awesome). 4 was BORING.

I agree although 3 for me became a lancer fest online but the story was great. Judgement was complete ass and 4 bored and annoyed me.

As a PS4 owner, I’ve had this game on pre-order to play on my nephew’s XBOne. Looking forward to playing it. Love the Gears franchise. Owned a 360 last generation, but other than this, microshit has nothing to offer.

Not gunna lie, because of gamepass my ps4 has been mostly dormant. Sure, xbox doesnt have as many exclusives. But getting them ALL past and future on gamepass for 5 bucks extra on top of xbox live a month plus a ton of brand new or relatively new 3rd party titles like devil may cry 5 plus all of the games with gold games I've collected and the fact that every 3rd party game looks and runs better on the x, makes the xbox one by far my most played console with the most games owned and played.

@@jjabblePlayStation so? I have the x and the pro. The ps4 pro was a waste of money. And the s is better than either of the standard ps4 models, slim or orginal. Gives you a 4k blue ray player which by itself is a little pricey and you can still use hdr on games.
More triple a games come out every year that are cross platform than exclusives. I play more third party games than 1st party exclusives, most people do. So if I'm going to buy a game and I have the choice, I always always pick xbox. Superior online services and servers, superior sales, gamepass, the best controller especially for competitive games, AND the big one, I know for a fact that every game I buy on xbox one will be available on the new system with backwards compatibility as already promised. Sony has been reluctant to say this. That's a massive massive deal. You game purchases wont just disappear when jumping to the next console. Sony will just force you to rebuy the game or buy their 3rd remaster of the same title.

The first few are the best in the series IMO.
Mike Hawk Play them in sequence. You could skip Judgement, since that’s a side story about Baird.
I would recommend playing though the original trilogy in its entirety. Skip Judgement
first three are the best but if you pick up at gears 4 and then play five you will be informed enough for the story of five. I do recommend playing the first three though!! Co-op makes it way more fun too they are built for co-op.

man they optimized the shiiiiet out of this game, i am really impressed!! I have a asus gtx 1080, ryzen 7 1700, ssd and 16gb ram, and play at 1440p on a gsync monitor. THE GAME RUNS FLAWLESSLY to the point that i cant believe it doesn't hiccup at all, and keeps the frames at above 70fps most of the time... man, hats of to the devs.

I'm mostly interested in getitng this for the multiplayer, but good to know the singleplayer seems to have that meathead appeal the old games did, some fun for a few playthroughs, especially in co-op
