What a treat Miranda. I did a double take when you showed the edition illustrated by Angela Barrett because it triggered such a strong memory so I rushed up to the "children's" section of my bookshelves and found our copy which I bought for my daughter, Léonie, and was delighted to see her bookplate and to remember happy times reading it to her all those years ago. Thank you so much for this lovely video, happy reading, Teresa 🌸
Thank you for this extra video Miranda 💐my first edition of The Secret Garden was on audio cassette, read by the actress Claire Bloom which was a birthday present when I was about five! Since then I’ve been enchanted by it and have collected various editions, my favourite being the one illustrated by Tasha Tudor
Oh!!!! Miranda I ABSOLUTELY LOVE You!!!!!🥰🥰🥰… I could barely eat my lunch because I kept oohing and aahing.. Every Edition is just BEAUTIFUL!!!! You’ve made my day… I was dog tired because I’ve literally been up since 4am.. but now I’m EXCITED!!!🥰… this video will be re-Watched AGAIN!!!!
Oh my! What a beautiful collection! Thank you SO MUCH for sharing those with us. I only have one book of the Secret Garden. Tasha Tudor and Eloise Wilkins are my 2 favorite children's illustrators. I use to have a HUGE collection of Tasha Tudor books, prints, her sketch book, every published book about her, note pads, magazine articles ( usually Victoria mag.), A book about her Dollhouse, her Corgi dogs, her children; everything and anything I could get my hands on regarding her. I read her biography, she had a very interesting childhood. A New Englander like me 😊. I collect versions of Little Women and Wuthering Heights my absolute 2 favorite books. I have an edition of each w/ letters, maps, etc. like your Secret Garden. Illustrated by Marjolein Bastin(sp?). Thank you for taking the time to do this, , just lovely. I'm reading ANNE for April's bookclub. Can't wait! 🤗
I have always loved Tasha Tudor's illustrations, especially those which incorporate the corgis. A friend of mine knew Tasha Tudor. Whenever Ms. Tudor's travels brought her to our area, we got to visit with her. She always seemed very ethereal and reserved. (The Secret Garden is one of my all-time favorite books.)
Hi Miranda, I clicked this video so fast! The Secret Garden is my all time favorite children’s book. It was so magical to me as a child, & I can’t count how many times I have read it. I remember just being absolutely beside myself when I realized they made a movie of it! I still love to watch the movie to this day. However, I haven’t read the book in many years. I’m inspired by you, to do so. The copy I have is the last one you showed. It is my favorite version as well. Thanks for a great video, made my day! 😀 📖 💐
Oh, what a beautiful collection! Honestly, I‘ve sometimes felt a bit guilty when i‘d buy yet another edition of one of my favorites, seeing as a) shelf space is precious and b) there are sooo many other books I‘d like to get. But, those special editions of my favorites just make my heart sing. And thanks to book tube and collectors like you, Miranda, I now know I‘m not alone in feeling there is no such thing as too many editions of your personal favorites. ❤📚📚📚☺️ Loved the extra video. Such a treat! Have a lovely weekend, Monica from tiny-town Austria
This was such an unexpected treat, I had just sat down to enjoy a restorative cup of tea. I was thrilled to see your collection of The Secret Garden books, I really didn’t know there were so many beautiful editions. It’s such a wonderful concept ‘a secret garden’ and I loved seeing all the different interpretations of how it was illustrated, it’s a flight for the imagination and an inspiration. My favourite is also the one illustrated by Tasha Tudor. I was very lucky to find a vintage copy, which I treasure. I loved rereading this book with the comfort book club, it was such a lovely start to Spring.
You have a wonderful collection. My mum had a pop up book of The secret garden that I used to play with as a child. I don’t think it had the story in it but I loved that book. It had the house, the garden, and cardboard cutouts of the characters. I read the story for the first time with The comfort book club last month and was glad that enjoyed it 😁
What a lovely collection. The illustrations in the edition you highlighted for the Comfort Book Club remind me of paintings by Vanessa Bell. And what a gorgeous mug with all the spring flowers, a perfect pick me up this time of year.
Your favorite is mine. I am American and this illustrated book started my love of all things English. I went to London for the first time last summer and we did a train trip to York. It was magical, however my dream of seeing an English Robin didn’t happen. I hope it will someday. Love your channel. I also hope to visit Tasha Tudor’s garden this summer.
What a wonderful collection. The Secret Garden is one of the few books that I collect. The Tasha Tudor version of the Secret Garden is my favorite too, but I also love the Mina Lima edition and the one illustrated by Kate Lewis. I also really love Penguin cloth bound edition and the edition illustrated by Graham Rust with the garden illustrations between a dark green check board cover.
What a fun video. Thoroughly enjoyed this. An extra video from you is a real treat. I hope you’ll consider doing more edition “tours” in the future. That quirky edition you showed is so intriguing! Tasha Tudor is my favorite too. Just to add… those Penguin Threads editions are delightful. I have Black Beauty… wish I had more.
I have four editions of this book, which is my favorite childhood book. I also have the Kate Lewis edition which is truly lovely. I also have the edition you have with all the little notes, letters, and other treasures. It is truly unique! You have a lovely collection to enjoy.
I love your collection. My favorite is the same as yours. It’s the one I read as a child and the one I have on my bookshelf now. Thank you for this little deeper dive into a beloved reading experience.
What a wonderful trip down memory lane! I haven't read Secret Garden since I was a girl and I was waiting to hear from you about the Tasha Tudor edition! Love that it is your favorite! I'm with you on the nostalgia factor. While I appreciate the more modern versions and the creative ways they redesign or repackage the book, I can't really imagine Mary or Colin or the gang in any other way than through Tudor's design! Thank you! I now plan to take off a lovely spring afternoon from work and revisit that Garden!
I've been hearing a lot about Tasha Tudor of late. I was first introduced to her a few years back for her gardens but recently discovered she was an illustrator and author also. I'd have to say that already she's one of my favourite illustrators but especially as I found out she was one of the illustrators for The Wind in the Willows, one of my all-time favourites.😊
Beautiful selection of copies of ‘The Secret Garden’ & all beautifully illustrated. I have never read the book 📕 but watched the film with my children many times. I always dreamt of having a walled secret garden 🪴 Thank you, Karen 🌺
What a beautiful collection! I vaguely remember the paperback edition I had in the 70 s, think it had a green cover and a picture from the BBC series. I bought the V&A edition which I love, but I am tempted to get the Harper Muse painted edition, it's beautiful 😍. Thank you again for a Lovely catch-up video.
Thank you, Miranda, for all the wonderful books you’ve recommended over the years. I appreciate too, when you let us know about books that aren’t worth buying and reading! Saves time and money. Much love to you and Donna.❤️
What a treat! I loved all your editions of The Secret Garden. I just reread my Tasha Tudor version for the book club, and I agree with you, it’s how I envision the characters. On your recommendation I bought the new Kate Lewis edition and it’s really beautiful, definitely a unique look. So much fun!
Thank you for sharing your amazing collection of "The Secret Garden" books 📚 Miranda. Your work is very appreciated! I have been longing for a hardback copy for my library for years, but I have been overwhelmed trying to research which copy to embrace as my own. Your flip through was very helpful, as it gives me a better idea of what to expect from each edition that you shared. Thank you for all of your hard work to bring so many things to your viewers attention and to share what brings you delight. Have a lovely day! 🌹
All the auditions are beautiful in their own way. I would love to have them all but will try to get at least three or four of them to have for myself and to pass on to my grandchildren. Thank you Miranda!
Hi Miranda thank you for putting together this video. Out of the ones you have, I have two of them, the Harper Muse one and the Penguin Threads one, both are adorable. I think the Threads has it though as it’s just so tactile and I love the embroidery cover and the rough cut of the pages. Your video has made me want to rush out and buy the ones I have not yet got! Thank you for another comforting and beautiful heartwarming video ❤
I haven't read The Secret Garden in years but recently rented the audiobook from my library and I had forgotten how lyrical the writing is. I have two versions: the one illustrated by Tasha Tudor and the one illustrated by Inga Moore. I bought the Moore version because it is exquisite but I feel it's too bulky to hold and read. I will begin reading the Tudor one as soon as I finish I Capture the Castle which I read at the start of every spring. Lovely vlogcast Miranda. Thank you.
For sentimental reasons,I love the hardback illustrated edition published by Purnell which was a present from my late father. My favourite editions are probably those illustrated by Inga Moore and Tasha Tudor although the ones illustrated by Robert Ingpen,Graham Rust ,Michael Hague and Jenny Williams are lovely too.I would also recommend The Annotated Secret Garden edited by Gretchen Gerzina which contains illustrations by several different artists including Tasha Tudor.
Lovely surprise to see an extra video. What a lot of gorgeous versions you have! I have a Barnes and Nobles children's edition with Charles Robinson's illustrations. I do love his work despite the brown haired Mary 😂. The Tasha Tudor version looks stunning!
Miranda, you've made me so happy, because you are holding up the very edition that I used to have and that I haven't been able to find anywhere else online. It's the Puffin edition, with the girl wearing a white coat standing next to the twisting branches against the wall. Love the Shirley Hughes edition. Thank you for doing this!
Hi Miranda what a lovely surprise for an extra video this week. Loved seeing the beautiful books with the different art works. Unfortunately I didn't keep my childhood version, but picked up a Heinemann publication, with art work by Charles Robinson. This was an exciting find a couple of years ago. 😊
Oooh, how wonderful! An extra video! I loved to see all your editions of the Secret Garden. I only have two different ones. The one illustrated by Tasha Tudor and one edition by Harper Collins with a cut out cover and a bookmark. It was a limited edition. I like both of them very much. Thank you for sharing your collection. I have now some new editions on my wish list😂❤
What an interesting video Miranda. My personal favourite is the Puffin edition with the Shirley Hughes cover as this is the one that I had as a child. I hadn’t realised until now that Mary on the cover of that edition is almost identical to the Mary on the cover of the Puffin edition of The Painted Garden by Noel Streatfield.
What an incredibly fabulous collection! So generous of you to share these wonderful editions of a cherished book… Each edition with its beautiful illustrations reveals something different and new to the reader, I think. Thank you Miranda for offering us moments of pure delight❤
What a gorgeous collection of your favourite copies of The Secret Garden. I have loved the Inga Moore edition since it first came out, but each version has its own charm. Thanks so much, Miranda for this extra video! xo
I'd like to recommend Robert Ingpen's illustrated edition, published by Templar Classics. It features botanical illustrations which I think will appeal, Miranda. He's also done a lovely version of The Wind in the Willows, as you're probably aware.
I had no idea there were so many versions of this book to be enjoyed! I read it for the first time during March using the Tasha Tudor version that my daughter owns. Even though many of the other ones are lovely, I think this one will always appeal the most to me. However, I am now inspired to find more copies!
A lovely dress and your new brush is really doing the trick! What a charming idea to Garner those different editions; it is a delightful- and probably rewarding pursuit.
Extra thank you Miranda as I too love Shirley Hughes over 50 years perhaps and read to my five children. I ve not seen this Secret Garden edition! Will hunt it down.
Such a nice surprise to see you midweek! We’re getting ready for a snowstorm and possible power outage so I especially appreciated seeing all of the beautiful Spring illustrations today. 🌸
Such a great video Miranda. I only have one copy of The Sectet Garden and it’s the Tasha Tudor one. But I love all of your beautiful editions. Thank you for sharing them. 💕🌸
I feel like the Tasha Tudor illustrations are the most famous illustrations. I've seen them used so many times that it wasn't until a few years ago that I even discovered that they weren't the original illustrations. It felt like they went hand-in-hand with the text like the Tenniel illustrations for Alice in Wonderland and the Denslow illustrations for Wizard of Oz.
I have a classic book of the secret garden. I still need to read . Now’s the time I will read that books. It’s spring now and I’m seeing little flowers and daffodils coming through now . Enjoy your reading Amanda. ❤
What a lovely birthday surprise to see a mid-week video from you, and on my favourite book as well! I have two favourite editions of the book - the one illustrated by Inga Moore for looking through the photos and imagining the children discovering the garden, and the Chiltern edition where I can feel the flowers on the cover under my fingers as I read the story. My childhood paperback edition with black and white illustrations fell completely apart a couple years ago and has been replaced with these beautiful ones.
Wonderful edition share! Just ordered "Unearthing the Secret Garden" which so excited for, as this is my favorite book. I remember an easy reader pop up book version from childhood...it even had the little pull tabs! Pop up books are more rare now, oh how I wish I had that still. This inspires me to get back to the thrift stores and look for those charming vintage editions ^-^
What an amazing collection. Thank you so much for sharing with us. The first edition you shared with illustrations by Inga Moore (apologies if spelling is incorrect!) is my favourite from your collection. Btw I love your dress, the pattern, colours and those pintucks!
What a gorgeous collection of books! I had the Tasha Tudor one as well, so I'd have to agree with you that that is my favorite. All the illustrations you showed look beautiful though!
Thank you for this charming tour. Actually just this morning I received in the mail from the tiny independent publisher David Godine an edition I think you would also admire, with illustrations by Graham Rust. I think they have something of the spirit of Tasha Tudor’s and the refinement of Inga Moore’s.
Love the collection, I have one of the last with Tasha Tudor illustrating - you 😢have so many wonderful editions and different illustrators. My friends birthday coming up and I think it will be one , I am going to send her. Thank you for your mini tour💕
Oh Miranda I loved this video!!! Such beautiful editions!!! I love your vintage edition covers. I agree with you on Shirley Hughes! Hopefully one day it will get an updated cover/republication! I really loved Angela Barrett's 'Beauty and the Beast' and 'Snow White'. So clever and fantastic! If you are ever hoping to update, Abbeville Press just published a beautiful edition with Charles Robinson's illustrations. My son and I read the MinaLima version - as you said they are so great for holding kids' attention! I love Tasha Tudor's version as well! Hoping to get out to her place this year. Have a wonderful day!🌷
Hello from Islington. I bought the Secret Garden today. I’d missed the Comfort Book Club read, but didn’t want to miss out. So I’m starting my book this evening. Thank you for the recommendation and all those lovely people who gave their opinions on the story. It’s clear it is a favourite and I feel rather ashamed I hadn’t read it before. But it’s never too late 😊
When you started showing the more modern versions of the book, I was disappointed, as I thought that you would not show the one illustrated by Tasha Tudor. I am so glad you did and that it is a favorite of yours. It is the only version I have, but Tasha Tudor is one of my very favorite illustrators, and I pick up anything I find of hers. I also, love reading about her lifestyle in all of the beautiful books based on her 1830s life. Nice video Miranda. Thank you.
I have the paperback Tasha Tudor version which my grandmother gave me in the 1960s. I recently bought the hard copy version also, because I wanted to have a sturdier copy to read so I could preserve the much loved paperback that was my grandmother’s gift. I, too, definitely love the Tasha Tudor the best.
Hi Miranda, I own 3 copies of The Secret Garden, the Inga Moore one, Graham Rust version and the Angela Barrett edition which I have just bought tonight through Etsy. It was very hard to find! I had no idea Angela Barrett had illustrated The Secret Garden until I watched your video so thank you for showing that edition. It was a nice surprise. I own many Angela Barrett illustrated books, I love her work. The Secret Garden is one of my favourite children's books. I read it many times in my childhood, it's a magical place and nice to escape to the secret garden sometimes. Love your videos. Kate xxx
Thanks Miranda for another lovely video, so many beautiful editions of the Secret Garden❤I have recently ordered a picture book version illustrated by Adelina Lirius, I might have to order the Tasha Tudor edition next😊
I have the Milomina edition and love it. When I was a child the book was my escape from an abusive/neglectful family environment.i love your collection especially the illustrated ones.😊
I so enjoyed this! It was funny, because I have The Secret Garden Tasha Tudor edition you have, and I thought it was going to be so common that it didn’t even get into your list. Imagine my surprise when I found out that it’s still your favorite even among all the new fancy ones!
Wow, what a truly gorgeous collection you have of this classic book! Thank you for sharing such beauty with us😊 I remember that Tasha Tudor edition from my childhood, and it is the one I think of when the Secret Garden is mentioned. I think my favorites are your first one with all the gorgeous illustrations - so creative how the illustrations were incorporated into the text - and the Harper Muse edition for the cover alone. You’re so lucky you were able to snatch up a copy of the Penguin Threads edition. I’ve tried to get my hands on Little Women from this same collection with no luck.
Lovely thanks for sharing - my copy is falling apart as I’ve had it since I was little, the penguin copy you showed, with Mary on the front with brown hair.
Thank you very much for this unexpeted Video 😊. I love my Mina Lima Edition and the Edition with the paintings of Inga Moore. Just ordered a copie at my local bookstore with Illustrations from Mariachiara Di Giorgio which i recommend because it is so unique. The plan is to read it in our Botanical Garden, i'm so looking forward to this. Greetings from Germany, have a nice day
that Blackwells link is dangerous 😂 I ordered the MinaLina version immediately for my 10 year old granddaughter. And then added a book for me! I too was raised with the Tasha Tudor version and loved it. But I think that the current generation of readers needs a little more interaction to keep them hooked. I’ll be curious to see how this works for my granddaughter.
My one and only version of The Secret Garden is the Barnes & Noble edition from 2013, with illustrations by Charles Robinson. It’s such a lovely reading copy, and a story that I was thrilled to finally discover as an adult. I am intrigued by the new edition illustrated by Kate Lewis…it looks really fresh and beautiful, and reminds, a bit, of the illustrations in Rooms of Their Own by Alex Johnson, illustrated by James Oses. Thank you for the treat of a midweek video, Miranda…it made my day!💐❤️
My great aunt gave me the Tasha Tudor illustrated version just before she passed away. I love all things Tasha Tudor, so this is a doubly sentimental version for me. And I think I must keep a look out for the Penguin Threads edition, as I'm an embroiderer, too!
I read this for the first time a couple of months ago and I'm in my 50s. I absolutely loved it ❤
What a treat Miranda.
I’m so glad it bought back such happy memories, Teresa! ❤️🌷📖
My daughter Lucy is 7 and she also has a Secret Garden collection and she adored this video. I have some ideas now for Christmas and birthdays. ❤
Thank you Miranda for this extra video sharing your beautiful collection.

Thank you Miranda for the extra video! My all time favourite book😊❤🧡🩷Loved all of your editions xxx
Tasha Tudor version is the one I have. I love all of her books. Thanks for sharing your copies.
One of my favorites of all time ✨. Thank you for sharing your various editions. I will keep my eyes out!🌷
Thank you for sharing all those editions. It gives me lots of possibilities to look for. 😊
This was a lovely run through of your secret garden books. Thank you.
Thanks
Thank you so much for your lovely support! I so appreciate it ❤️
What a pleasure to be led through all those beautiful and varied illustrations!
Thanks so much, Miranda for this extra video! xo
Such beautiful editions! Thank you for sharing (and with an extra video too). 🌻
So beautiful . Thank you so much for sharing I love having vintage books in my library as well.
Gorgeous collection, Mirana! I own the Minalima one and I adore it.
Hello Miranda! what a lovely surprise to see you appear again to discuss all your beautiful Secret Garden books, made my evening!
Hope you keep warm and safe, Jennifer! ❤️
Thank you Miranda for this video! So lovely to see all these gorgeous editions! ❤
I read this fabulous book almost every spring. Look forward to sharing it with my grandkids soon! Your editions are so special!🌷🌷🌷
I have a classic book of the secret garden. I still need to read . Now’s the time I will read that books. It’s spring now and I’m seeing little flowers and daffodils coming through now . Enjoy your reading Amanda. ❤
You have a beautiful collection! 🇨🇦🥰
Happy Birthday, Debbie! 🎂🌷🎉
@@MirandaMills Thank you very much Miranda. 😊
That’s such an interesting book! Lovely photos too!
It is hard to choose between them!!
Thank you for this charming tour. Actually just this morning I received in the mail from the tiny independent publisher David Godine an edition I think you would also admire, with illustrations by Graham Rust. I think they have something of the spirit of Tasha Tudor’s and the refinement of Inga Moore’s.
Thankyou Miranda. I found the first book at the charity shop!!!! Cheers
Thank you for sharing these wonderful books ❤❤❤
So many beautiful editions!!! 📚😍 I personally own the one you showed at 10:10, love it!!! 📕🥰
I really loved this video, I would like to see more like this one in the future!
Thank you.
Fantastic surprise and video. Just what I needed to watch during a very rainy week in NY!
Thank you so much for the lovely video 📚📚♥♥👒👒
Greetings from Germany, have a nice day
What lovely editions! I have the Harper Muse painted edition of Little Women and it's just stunning. I really enjoy seeing your collections.
that Blackwells link is dangerous 😂 I ordered the MinaLina version immediately for my 10 year old granddaughter.
Thank you for the treat of a midweek video, Miranda…it made my day!💐❤️
❤thank you for sharing
My great aunt gave me the Tasha Tudor illustrated version just before she passed away. I love all things Tasha Tudor, so this is a doubly sentimental version for me. And I think I must keep a look out for the Penguin Threads edition, as I'm an embroiderer, too!
