    This is a lovely bike. The price is amazing. Royal Enfield is doing some terrific marketing research. They are giving people all over the world a motorcycle that can put a smile on anyone's face. Quality, finish, value and dependability. They are building Brand Loyalty, and I would like to have one.

    A belt drive would have been great, I see the Shotgun as Royal Enfield's Sportster, so why not? But at least Royal Enfield still know how to make a center stand, most other manufacturers seem to have forgotten.

      I agree, I was going to buy a new SM650, but for a bit less got a very low miles C50T suzuki... the shaft drive was the winner. Had the Enfield been belt drive??

    Dear Mark, you are the best bike RUclips reviewer I've ever watched. Not focusing on technical specs but on riding sensaions with honesty and a delightful britiish spirit. I'm 52, trying to get my license. I want to become a rider for those sensations you describe so well. You convinced me to consider this bike to be my first bike (and maybe my only bike). When I'll pass my license exam of course. Many thanks from the orher side of the Channel.

    I live in Cambodia, though, I am from the Isle of Wight. Just ordered one of these and they are $6500 USD here, so an amazing price. I have watched quite a few videos about the shotgun and this for me was the best.

    so for all you folks asking for negatives- low ground clearance/ low tank capacity/ simple insteumentation/ suspension needs tiffening to be more comfortqble/ - BUT you see all these are very subjective and some or other bike is better or not ao good in all these, what matters most to RE is the the way you feel when you take this out for a spin and it delivers that fun for sure at an incredible value, for those who own a RE 350, this is a very good upgrade to twin cylinder fun with a comfortqble and good looking ride😊😊

    Thorough review as always Mark, I think Royal Enfield can be forgiven for the relatively heavy weight of the Super Meteor as it’s a cruiser, but the Shotgun I’m not so sure ? Not everyone wants a retro but if you want a Shotgun there’s a heavy penalty to pay in weight 🇬🇧

    Nice review Mark. As an older rider I appreciate the machinery here. Problem I saw was it's weight. Same as my old Triumph Sprint GT SE, with full panniers and top box! Center stand is good. Also reminds me of a Bonneville I had with Air/oil cooling. It's £1600 more than the Triumph Speed 400, which is still top of my wish list. Cheers and safe riding.

    As an owner of a Classic 350 I feel like this is the closest thing to a Classic 650 that we're gonna get. Given the styling, I understand all the comparisons to the Super Meteor but really it seems more like an upgraded Classic to me (minus that cool Classic dash), with the mid controls and that bobber-style single seat.

    I think this is a good looking bike and look forward to seeing what the custom scene does with it. My main gripe is the silencers, bike is a bit more modern looking and a pair of gently upswept peashooters could look great, in black of course… those massive cigars give the bike a weighty appearance. Not in the market for a new bike, already have a modern and classic Triumph, but this would be on the list if I was! Great review, also helps you’re not 6’ + so it’s a real world review for me 😅

    Thanks for the great review, as usual. You know...this is NOT the kind of bike I'd usually be drawn to, but with the great motor, single seat config, mid controls, and really nice details, it evokes a classic bobber - what were considered hot rods - but very nicely updated! Very attractive as an everyday roller!

    Great review, as usual. The thing with Royal Enfield....I went to the dealer here in LA with the intent to buy an Interceptor 650 and after some pondering walked out with a Moto Guzzi V7. A couple of grand ($) more expensive but no comparison in the feel, fit and finish and had 20 HP more. The Shotgun has the same engine and it is heavier (530 lb) and more expensive. Prices are edging higher and are not even made in Britain.

    • @SP-ps3yt
      @SP-ps3yt 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@chrispekel5709 Correct, but in this case was the difference between deal and no deal. I would have preferred to keep the $2k if the RE Interceptor was satisfactory. Plus it seems underpowered for the US. 47 hp is kind of low for freeways. The shotgun is more of the same in a slightly different shape.

    Great camera shots. Build quality looks good. Frame welds look top notch ... The Shotgun (made like another gun?) is RE's 'workhorse'. Would I buy one, you ask? If it was belt drive or shaft drive, then yeah, I would. Even as a chain driven bike, I still give it the thumbs up.

I owned a triumph street twin 9OO for 3 years, good bike, but wanted something lighter to throw around a bit, got got a trident 660. Anyway, the street twin weighed 216kg, 23 kg less than the shotgun, with 64 bhp and 59lb torque. Which, is a big difference when riding. Great review Mark! Good to hear how comfortable the bike is to ride. The mid control footpegs look comparable to the Meteor 350 as well as the seat style. Love my INT 650 but my Meteor 350 is a much more comfortable bike to ride. Agree, I think bar end mirrors would look great on the Shotgun. Maybe a nice Dart style windscreen. The pillion seat removal exposing a rear rack is brilliant. The rear light is that lovely bullet style like as on the Meteors. Notice too that RE has extended the oil cooler cover to protect the side tanks. I will definitely check out the Shotgun when it arrives in the US. Thank you Mark!

    Looks really nice, as do many air-cooled bikes. It may be a bit too old-fashioned in the muffler, though. ;) Impressive torque, too. Thanks, Mark!

    Great review Mark!!!
    So is it Shotgun Vs Super Meteor?
    Love the Shotgun look as a single seater Bobber!
    I am striping my Astral Black Super Meteor to a single seater with a Black solo seat finisher.
    To be honest if that hovering Bobber seat fit my Super Meteor i would have it in a heartbeat!
    But i wonder with this bike being shorter and the rider looking bigger with the performance etc...
    What would be the buying decision to buy the Shotgun or the Super Meteor... Interested as maybe i could trade...

    • @markpulling12
      @markpulling12  6 месяцев назад

      Hi they both ride very well....the super meteor is more a chill out machine...the shotgun definitely has sportier handling......think I'd go for the shotgun as I love the looks of it
      Best wishes mark

    240KG??? Is that with the rider?? 🤣where does all that weight come from?! And it's not overly blessed with power/torque to punt it along? However it sounds nice and it seems to ride well too. Cheers Mark 👍

      Yes RE bikes are heavy ....I guess it's because they don't use much plastic or lightweight metals ...but great bike though cheers mark

    Thanks thats a lovely looking bike. Only concerned about the front brake is it good enough with one single disc? Also concerned with the ground clearance. Fore more lean i suppose you will scrape the pegs. But is nice to see midpegs. Tried the supermeteor 650 last year with the front pegs and didnt like it all. Wish the ground clearance were better but still its a lovely looking bike best RE so far. Will try this and the coming RE Scrambler 650

    • @markpulling12
      @markpulling12  6 месяцев назад +1

      Hi the braking power was more than adequate...and you would have to be at a serious leak angle to scrape anything.....for normal road riding it's perfect

    Another great review. thank you so much! When you started it up It sounded throatier than the Super Meteor, is that just my imagination? One more question - how is the handling and cornering compared to the Super Meteor. Apart from the foot position is there any difference? I wondered whether the difference in rake made any discernible difference.

    • @markpulling12
      @markpulling12  6 месяцев назад

      Hi Johnathan...yes I thought it sounded a bit throatier too ....the handling is definitely sportier than the super meteor...steeper head angle I guess...but on the whole a great machine

    Hi Mark - good review, it seams like they realised the Interceptor had slightly funny ergonomics ( because it had the 24 degree rake for the Continental ) so created this with a more comfortable rake and mid mounted foot rests -thoughts ? I recently traded my Interceptor for a Classic 350 and haven’t looked back

    • @markpulling12
      @markpulling12  6 месяцев назад +2

      Hi Tom the classic 350 is fantastic...I really enjoyed the shotgun it sits nicely between the interceptor and super meteor...the handling is excellent plus it's very comfortable

    I have to say I am getting a bit tired of RE just repackaging the same old engines and chassis over and over again. It's about time that they developed some larger capacity bikes (I know they recently brought out a larger capacity Himalayan) rather than just relying on two main engines. It is all rather boring for one of the largest motorcycle producers in the world.
