My mom sent me to a class to learn how to sew when I was 12 and the project was a t-shirt and shorts very similar to the ones you made. You took a week's worth of sewing lessons and turned them into 13 minutes of easy to follow directions. Thank you so much for making sewing so much more accessible and understandable! I've been sewing (badly) for over 30 years now and I think I would have enjoyed it way sooner if you were my teacher.
How did u get the shorts to be a U shape. I been asking nobody's been answering if I don't get an answer soon I'm going to STAB myself in the neck with my scissors
That tube top is such a cute and useful project for beginners. I also appreciate the extra row of stitching on the edge of your shorts elastic casing. That's a great way to make sure the elastic doesn't roll.
i did the shorts !! great tutorial but could use more explanation on how to get the U shape with the crotch seam , i feel like that part was done really fast and was confusing
Hi April💖 thank you for sharing your knowledge and skills. Really appreciate the fact that you mention and show the type of fabric as well as the stitch. Great projects! !! Remain blessed xxx
How did she make the U with the shorts I've been trying to figure out for hours if I don't get. Arespknse soon I'm going to STAB these scissors into my neck
I’m glad I watched this even for a simple crop top haha I’m adding ribbon ties to mine for a festival in my town this weekend with a gorgeous dark green ribbed fabric
This video is amazing! I've been struggling to find easy projects to practice sewing as a beginner and this helped SO much. Also love that you mentioned which needle and stitch type to use.
Made a scrunchy for my daughter and me today and loooove them!!! So excited about this new skill and super appreciate you for putting it out there! You really make things so clear and easy to understand! 💗💖💗
THANK YOU🙋🏽♀️ April this is a tutorial that I can follow … your instructions are very easy to follow, 👩🏽I always get so confused with measurements usually it just gets too much for me and I’m like OK forget it but you made this so easy ,so simple straight to the point thank you thank you thank you thank you
I remember when I made my first garment. It was a size 13 evening gown with a sweeping train that was 6 feet long but I had made it out of spandex and neoprene and it hooks closed in the back rather than a zipper.
Hello there, I'm actually about to start sewing again myself, but on a mini sewing machine. I am going to try out this project myself once I get my sewing machine. Super excited I haven't sewed in a long time since I was a kid. Love your sewing vlogs keep up the great work!!!!
Yaay! So glad to hear you are getting back into sewing. I recently did the same and also have been inspired to share some beginner sewing tutorials on my channel. Happy Sewing!😊
I wanted to make a set for myself ..but thought it was a difficult project and was thinking of easier projects to do first. Lol. Not anymore! Goal moved up sooner now... lol. Thanks April!
That outfit is cute on you. I could wear the t-shirt and the short s(around the house). I never wear shorts in public. I need to learn how to make my own sweat bands (like the ones from the 1970's and 1980's) for women. They held my hair out of my eyes, off my face, and neck while soaking up sweat. They were made from terry cloth. They are no longer sold today.
I know what you mean and here's how I would make one (using the methods Aprils showed on this video); If the fabric isn't stretchy make a "big scrunchie" that fits around your head (use wide elastic and the fabric doesn't have to be super long like only few inches longer than your head measure). And if your fabric is stretchy make a narrow "tube top" that fits around your head. I hope this helps!
You’re welcome! Arvetta I was thinking about it after I replied, I can’t recall if the headbands were stretch, I think they were. If you can, look for stretch French terry, or French terry knit online, French terry is very absorbent. But the quality today won’t be the same. Remember, Cotton is more absorbent than polyester.
You've very talented and due to your skills you can create incredible clothes for yourself. 🤩🤩 And this is marvelous. Wishing you good luck in your future creations. 😊😍🥰

Hi!! ILYSM YOUR CHANNEL HAS GROWN SO MUCH!! I just came back after a while and I love your studio! Can you make a tutorial of how to make Cargo Pants?? I never seem to find any in my size!
Love the shirt and these beginner friendly tutorials! I was wondering if you had any beginner friendly sewing tips for altering a tshirt that is maybe a little too snug, but like I can’t seem to let go b/c I love the graphic on the front so much?
i have a question about the tube top, you said you stitched the top but when you showed it close up i don’t see a stitch on top? how did u make it so u cant see the stitch??
Could I make the shorts with a non-stretch fabric? I’m attempting to make a genderbend Jinx cosplay and I have purple synthetic fabric that I got at a car boot sale?
How much fabric do you reccomend someone to buy for 1 pair of shorts doing the fold method? I was thinking 2yrds, not sure if that will give me enough though
I just cant figure out the shorts tutorial. I have been trying for a while and i just dont understand whats happening or how im supposed to sew the step at 6:00 minutes, if anyone could help it would be very appreciated
I don't understand how tracing a pair of shorts that stretch a lot will give you enough fabric? Like aren't those little shorts she traced gathered because it has elastic? I don't get it

I know right? Classes tend to stretch to 2 months sometimes just to justify the $$ we paid them

Where did you learn to stitch?
😮😅yh😅y
That's not fair. I went to one and we were forced to make "hand warmers" 💀
That tube top is such a cute and useful project for beginners. I also appreciate the extra row of stitching on the edge of your shorts elastic casing. That's a great way to make sure the elastic doesn't roll.

Arvetta, I believe the fabric for the old sweatbands is French Terry. All you need is the width and the length you need to make them.
