you explained everything well, and humor was on point! well done video, keep going with these. tetris type c actually reminds me of some of the castle levels in super mario world where you can go behind walls, kind of interesting.
10:26 I guess that ship is pretty much sailed. The 3DS would have been the ideal re-release platform for Virtual Boy given the technology used to create optical depth.
Wow, I'm surprised that the level of quality for the sample of games you had was so high! I've always heard only bad things about the Virtual Boy, so it's nice to see some of its redeeming aspects.
This was my first console. Had Mario Tennis, a robot boxing game, and pinball I think. It was the Trojan horse my dad used to get video games into the household.
I still have a Virtual Boy that I got in summer of 1997! That thing was a lifesaver that summer since my grandma died and my mom was recovering from thyroid cancer surgery, so that's pretty much all myself, my brother and my cousin did to keep our spirits up. We even solved the bad posture problem by laying down on our backs and letting gravity do the work. We also had Warioland, Mario Clash and Mario Tennis, which were great, and then we also played Nester's Funky Bowling (the only time I will ever score a 280 in my life) and Teleroboxer, which was the absolute worst. We must have went through so many AA batteries before finally getting the ac adapter, and it's probably the reason why my eyesight is so bad nowadays, hmmm...
This is a very properly done review! I agree that VB Wario Land needs to see a re-release. It shares similarities with the first game that I like while bringing a lot of new and creative ideas to the table. The only real flaw that game has is the very same-ish music.
I actually had one of these growing up, and I really love it VB Wario Land and Panic Bomber are among my favorite games, and I really enjoy Mario Clash and Mario's Tennis. I also really think the controller is well designed and super comfortable, I especially like the round shoulder Buttons. I also feel that the double D-pad thing was a nice precoursor to dual analog, even if few games utilised it.
I think that the biggest reason why the Virtual Boy was Nintendo's all time failure was the bad handling of the console. The console had bad coloring choices, expensive pricing for consumers to buy, and the long impact it had on the consumer playing the console.
i have a feeling they're adding virtual boy to the virtual console-family! think about it; they patented a vr-headset accessory for switch, so it's possible that they've planned re-releasing these games among with some actual vr-games!
The Nintendo VR headset just turned out to be the Nintendo Labo cardboard thing and wasn't really used for anything significant. I mean the Switch didn't really have the resolution to do VR anyway.
On the point of the virtual boy causing horrible headaches. I once read that the idea of a really bad headache can change between person to person, so the virtual boy could cause a headache someone might see as mild headache while another person could see that headache a really bad one.
I could see Virtual Wario Land and Mario Clash on the 3DS, but that's about it for the games you reviewed. Played the game in stores back in the day, as well as a bit of it at my friend's house. It didn't hold our attention very long, and we went back to other games shortly after. Interesting curio, though.
It’s nice to see a great analysis and not THE VIRTUAL BOY IS SHIT type of video. I’m a hardcore fan of the system and it definitely gets over hated by the gaming community.
Actually, the reason that they went back to only having A and B (as far as the N64 goes, anyway) was actually because before the controller had been designed, the games being developed for the N64 were tested with a Saturn controller, and since that controller had six buttons and the directional buttons were a necessity, it meant that the A and B buttons were tge only two buttons they could have (aside from the previously mentioned D-buttons) due to the button layout having to be the same as the Saturn controller since the games that were being developed had been built around such a layout.
You won't be playing it for 4 hours straight because you'd have to deal with a skinny - no eyes but bumps - curved legged - demon thing and you'll go from color blind to actually going blind.
Ok, so everyone knows how Jack Bros is the rarest Virtual Boy game, right? Well, it's not just any normal game. It's actually (one of) the first ever Shin Megami Tensei game(s) to come to America. Yes. The (one of the) first game(s) in a series that many people like a lot was actually on the virtual boy of all things.
I played for an hour with no problems. People bashing it probably never played it, and if they did they Did they probably didn’t get their eyes adjusted to the dark first. Also it helps not to come straight from the VB game play into a bright lit room. :)
12:33 "But who would want to look into an isolated 3D headset just to play single-player 2D Tetris?"
Tetris Effect: Allow me to introduce myself.

People say that it hurts your eyes, but there was a view adjuster on the top but no one notices it, because people are dumb.
Oh I didn’t know that
But I don’t own the VB
hello meme lor
I played it for hours no problem, just snowflakes with weak eyesight
How do you hold it im cheese balls with no hand

i remember seeing this "mario clash" thingy on the wario ware inc for the GBA on the 9Volt micro games

Your videos have improved in quality since you started doing these. This could be what you were made for, keep up the good work!
Nice job, man! I loved the sitcom credits gag.
Somebody needs to make these games in color
*notices avatar
"I see you are a man of culture as well."
Virtual Boy Wario Land for 3DS, please!
Wait so now Red isn’t a color?
@@Huwitto If the only color being displayed is red, it's not color, it's monochrome.
Nice touch on the 3:05 Switch sound.

if you have captions on for this video, in the credits joke portion it will say "Captions: Akfamilyhome". great little detail
Gud vid. All hail the vrum boi.

9:06 No pun intended, I'd suppose?
I would like to see some of the Virtual Boy highlights like Wario Land and Mario Tennis on the Nintendo 3DS eShop as virtual console.
Wario Land, TeleroBoxer, and Mario Tennis.
If they won't ever re-release them they should be public domain and the VB code should be open source.
7:34 this joke is amazing
I actually had one of these growing up, and I really love it

Hey, at least with the virtual boy you get to see how was Cyclops from X-men vision
Experience video games in the eyes of Cyclops
If only the Virtual Boy would've had an X-Men game released on it
X men cyclops simulator for virtual boy
i have a feeling they're adding virtual boy to the virtual console-family!

any proof of the vr headset? i haven't heard of it
the bootlegger I would actually want some games like VB Warioland, Mario Clash and others
and what? all they have to do is emulate lol.
The Nintendo VR headset just turned out to be the Nintendo Labo cardboard thing and wasn't really used for anything significant. I mean the Switch didn't really have the resolution to do VR anyway.
Massive respect for still finding things to praise for even a piece of junk like the Virtual Boy. The way you ended the video particularly.
first video of yours I've watched, really good stuff! Subscribed!
What's the music clip that plays at 7:30? I've heard it before but I can't remember and it's driving me crazy
Mugiwara2k cuphead boss/run’n’gun complete

It would be great for the 3DS
The commercials showed the virtual boy as an alien using the stand as legs.
THIS IS VR BEFORE VR !
(doesn't work though)
On the point of the virtual boy causing horrible headaches. I once read that the idea of a really bad headache can change between person to person, so the virtual boy could cause a headache someone might see as mild headache while another person could see that headache a really bad one.

It would have been cool if Nintendo made Virtual Boy games a secret unlockable in Labo VR. Missed opportunity there.
Imagine a 2D version of Tetris in VR that’s only addition from VR is a cool lights show.... haha.

Speaking of the red glare, think that could be combated with some sort of grayscale filter on top of the lenses? I always kinda wondered about that.
7:34 / 7:35 steve harvet :^)
I Hate This Console, It is an Absolute Nightmare.
Worst-selling... Goddammit why does nobody remember the iQue Player?! (yes I know)
Because the ique was a n64 just like the ique ds... its just a localized console so yeea virtual boy is still the worst selling
Aloha, happy 10th anniversary on RUclips!
I got a Virtual Boy for $100 at a Thrift Store. Boy am I lucky!

oh boy prepare your eyes
they should release a remastering of most or all the virtual boy games in one package on the nintendo switch
How do I own one of these?
Not lying, I played virtual boy Wario Land for 4:38:41so I played it more than 4 hours straight. It's hard to believe.
I would recommend getting an oculus quest 2 or pc vr headset and try a virtual boy emulator.
I, for one, welcome our red and black overlord
I’d like to get this eventually. Also, I wonder what it would be like if Nintendo released a modern version of the virtual boy like an Oculus Rift
it does nto beg the question
and nintendo said they wouldn't go into vr smh

Nah,it's not pure garbage.I have one I should know.
