German history does not start around 0 AD. Germanics/Germanen =/= Germans/Deutsche. Arminius as the great "German" national hero is nationalistic romanticism, 19th century propaganda. The earliest you can start of German history is start with the division of the Frankish Empire in 843, but this generally counted as par of the Carolingian era. The proper date would be 911 with the end of the carolingian dynasty and election of Konrad I. 843, 911 (and 962 Otto being crowned Emperor) are the important first dates we can speak of a "state" or entity of the German people in the modern sense. If we're talking culturally or linguistically thats much harder and fuzzy, but with old high german dating at best as early as ~700, with the consensus being ~750AD. Overall the start of German history and not Germanic history is between the 8th and 10th century.
Germany had been multiple countries until Otto von Bismarck. Austria was one of those German states, and saw itself as such until after WWII and has since distanced itself. The title is accurate.

Wars between France and Germany or various German states were occuring almost entirely in modern times. During the middle ages the borders were pretty stable. France had way more beef with England.
Well Germany and France are basically both ancestors of the first somewhat unified state in this era that was not a foreign empire. French and Germans alike claim Charlemagne as somewhat of an early national hero. So yes, you could argue it is brother or sister nations.
You are SO right. 😊👍 The French people are our brothers and sisters. We have to hold together against other ethnicies that don't share our standards and culture.
Jews are the real winner of WW2? Have you considered reading a history book about WW2? What are you talking about? And a "real alliance" between France and Germany is currently reality. NATO unites the whole West. There are strong bonds between the French and Germans, even though there are certain cultural differences that will probably never be reconciled. And to say "you don't have to be ashamed of your (hi)story" is just wrong. The Nazi regime has been enabled by the support or at least indifference of the German public. People are responsible for what their government does. In this case the Nazi government murdered millions and millions of innocent civilians and started an imperialist war that quickly turned into the worst disaster of the 20th century. If there is something you should be ashamed of, this is it. That being said: Germany needs to stand up again, straighten its back out and let history be history. Best way to make up for past crimes is to actively fight for a better future.

1871-1888. Wilhelm II was a lunatic that fired Germany’s greatest politician (Bismarck), cut ties with the strongest nation on earth (Britian) and was a horrible leader overall (War and inner politics). Just a shame what he did to the German nation that his predecessors fought so hard for!
Osterreich in English is "Austrian Empire" ? Reich is "Empire" in English. It's like my country, France, in German it's called "Frankreich" so it's the "Frankish Empire" ?
Osterreich is actually more like "East Empire" or "East realm". It's because it was the easternmost portion of the Holy Roman Empire. And, yes, Frankreich is basically "Frankish Empire" or "Frankish realm". It's actually almost like "Place where the Franks rule", or, like Frankdom. Reich is a funny word that can't be translated exactly. It's basically like the English suffix "-dom", but by itself.
Jack o Fish No, Austria Hungary was later when the Hungarians carved up more power, in the beginning Austria was just Austria with no dual monarchy or like two capitals, like they had when Austria Hungary was a thing
Not Empire, since Empire comes from having an Emperor. Empire in German would be "Imperium" or "Kaiserreich". Reich in German means/meant more like Realm/Country/land.
Well, Germany (resp. "Deutschland" in German) refers to the land where German Language and Culture is dominant. The State "Germany" as we know it today is a product of 1949. Before, all german National states would be called "german *insert something here*" Like "german Confederation", "german Empire" etc. ... So in effect: "a" german *...* instead of "the" Germany.

@Deutsches Vaterland. no he's a Muslim
would have been better to seperate this. one video for germany (btw: holy roman empire is not the same as germany!) and one for austria. i mean, you have seperate videos for france, italy, too. and the video title "History of Germany : Every year" ... and then austria is included... i mean...
a proper way would have been: 1 video history of the holy roman empire, 1 video history of austria (independent duchy of austria was formed in 1156), 1 video history of germany (and that only starts in the 19th century when germany was formed, not before).
but now it mixes up very different things.

Now "Österreich" called "Austria"
At the time of "Österreich-Ungarn" it calls "austrian empire"
Jack o Fish No, Austria Hungary was later when the Hungarians carved up more power, in the beginning Austria was just Austria with no dual monarchy or like two capitals, like they had when Austria Hungary was a thing
Not Empire, since Empire comes from having an Emperor. Empire in German would be "Imperium" or "Kaiserreich". Reich in German means/meant more like Realm/Country/land.
Reich is like a more noble/respectful manner of refering to a certain peoples land.
Damn, Austria was thicc at some points.

Title: History of Germany. Every year
Video: Shows every year of Germany and Austria
Well, Germany (resp. "Deutschland" in German) refers to the land where German Language and Culture is dominant. The State "Germany" as we know it today is a product of 1949. Before, all german National states would be called "german *insert something here*"
Like "german Confederation", "german Empire" etc. ... So in effect: "a" german *...* instead of "the" Germany.
You forgot the leaders for the brd and ddr time.

Österrich, Preußen, Bayern, Sachsen : biggest four of Germanics stand of. Actually France or French and all Scandinavia spares is Germanic too
Spain also has Germanic roots. Same for northern Italy. Also all of East Europe alot of historic German(ic) influence and rulership. Even Balkans, Russia and Crimea. And dont forget Britain, Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Luxemburg, Liechtenstein.
@@whynotstayhonest4706 Not so much roots. There were Germanic people in there but the ethnic majority was still the former Roman population.
I like how the music shifts as the world goes into the new ages
The history of Germany includes events occurring in the German-speaking territories corresponding approximately to the state formed in 1871 at Versailles, when the German Empire, under the control of the King of Prussia, was constituted.
Well, pre-1871 Germany was certainly bigger than that.
In the 1600’s
Everyone: organized
Germany/Prussia:
*Everyone: waging war on Germany and abusing Germany as a battlefield for wars against each other, literally killing 1/3 of Germanys civilian population back then.
