Firtsly, marriage is not an exclusively Chritian tradition so, their views on gay marriage are not based upon Christianity although they might be influenced by it. Marriage as a State regulated affair and in similar terms to what we know today as marriage in the West (In other cultures marriage is more of a contract of ownership, for example Islam of Hinduism) started in Classical Ancient Greece and Rome, basically as a means of protecting the womans and progeny’s rights. So since there is no woman or progeny in a gay couple marriage wouldn’t make much sense even in pre-christian Greece or Rome, where gay relationship were not taboo. In modern times a series of special benefits have been added to married couples such as hospital visitation rights and it is obvious those benefits should also be given to long time gay couples in some kind of civil union but claiming that there should be an institution of gay marriage identical to regular marriage is just sentimentalism with no real substance behind it.

Right, the more reason that these politicians should be held accountable and should not be in a position to decide things that affect the fabric of the family and marriage.
They literally showed the clip of Biden saying it, are you stupid? They showed Obama addressing it as well. It's called personal growth. Back then, society wasn't as accepting of it, but as the idea of homosexual marriage became more acceptable they were willing to change their views on it. Why? Because it's what the American people wanted. Their views were malleable, they weren't inflexible like conservative values are. They embraced change, Republicans didn't. That's the difference.
Biden didn’t really change his views, as is the common misconception. He was far more left leaning than Obama on the issue from the beginning. He was just following what his candidate was saying. Joe Biden was the one that convinced Barack Obama to pursue legalizing gay marriage when Obama didn’t want to. He also called transgender rights the “civil rights issue of the 21st century” back in the early 2000’s, when literally everyone was transphobic and it would have been extremely unpopular to say. He’s been like this for a long time.
Yeah it is the same as Trump saying in 1989 I think, that he does not like abortion at sll but still supports it. Even though I despise the man, think it is the same, when he wanted to become president he had to pretend to be pro life to get the votes.
Transphobic is an oxymoron. You can't fear something that doesn't exist. On the contrary, there was always empathy for people who cross-dress, as well as a stigma (but a deserved one). The difference is public attitude should be and was that those people need psychological help, whereas now, they have utmost privilege in society and successfully bully corporations and the public into subjugating everybody who doesn't pray at their altar.

Don't believe people would be that bigoted if their sibling or a child turned out to be trans etc. We're just so incapable to empathize normally sometimes.
Same with liberals, as seen with Biden’s reversal. He and Obama saw that supporting gay marriage would get them political support (i.e. it affected them personally) and so they changed their position.

Marriage is not about equality and that has clearly been said by the UN. I believe that marriage has a set purpose and I don’t believe redefining it to involve a group of people that have no place there is needed. Right The institution of marriage is an institution that creates a contract between men and women to to start a family and to keep both parents involved. And if you believe that marriage is a matter of “Equality” then why are you not are you not arguing for child marriage, polygamy marriage, incest marriage. If you are truly saying that marriage is about “equality” then why would you deny marriage to these people. That’s because you are drawing some moral line on the institution of marriage just as I draw my line at same sex marriage. The institution of marriage judges on multiple bases such as age, the number of people involved, the blood groups of the people involved, mental capability and I believe that should involve the sex of the people involved. That does not mean I hate gay people just as you not supporting child marriage doesn’t mean you hate children. So therefore there are many moral lines drawn on the institution of marriage so before you think about taking the moral high line just remember you are still drawing lines and excluding many people.

Gay marriage has nothing to do with religious freedom. A paedophile could literally make the same argument you did.

Any adult should be allowed to marry any other adult as long as they both consent. Period. End of. It’s not a difficult one.
We started with gay marriage
The with animals marriage
And then with siblings marriage
And the with children’s-adult marriage..etc
This cycle will never stop ! Because we humans have all kind of desires and psychological disorders and sickness!!
I was watching a documentary about this topic gay men and women are exactly have no different brain MRI than any other men or woman. The surprise is just this is what they want ! To do the wrong thing just like drug addiction , but why would they get in a marriage then ?the simplest answer is they find men who easier to handle or they have past failure with women !
If we define what sex is ? Then why do lovers cheat on their loved ones ?
Sex have nothing to do with love !! Men and woman could do sex with anything.
It might be just a test in life that you have different sex orientation that you should work with your doctor or with your mentor or pastor about and could fix it . Faith can put thing on the right path . Why do people drugs ? Same thing !! It’s all from the satan if you’re religious, if you don’t believe in God that’s your choice , but don’t convince me that you’re different than me ! We all could convince ourselves with anything we want!!
Last , why do gay men have no desire toward woman, then their partner dress like a woman ? And why do gay woman dress like men ? It’s so weird !! If you want to be a man then do transgender, but don’t convince me that a woman a woman can be a couple!!

Politicians don't change their minds, they just say what they're told will give them the most votes. They did post Biden's 2008 stance in which Biden made that stance also on behalf of himself and Obama. In the 2012 clip, Obama himself said he had evolved on the issue. Thus admitting that didn't always support it. It's really not that misleading.

The constitution does not “afford” people rights as Kerry claims. How brash. The constitution recognizes inherent rights of the people and affords oversight to the government.

The government is involved because marriage is a matter that includes property, family, legal stuff, taxes, cohabitation, etc. As for why to marry, it’s been done for as far back as we have records. That's actually closer to real trandational marriage then the man and woman thing.😝
Imagine not wanting every American to be treated equally...

@@hismajesty6272 lol I was 16 when I wrote this but I would actually agree with you now.
