I think Gerry was brave to do the part after only four singing lessons, he is fantastic and even if you think he is'nt a good singer then look at his acting. I love Gerry for doing this and I hope he will get together with this fantastic cast again for Phantom 2: Love never dies.
I don't think they're gonna make that into a movie. That's basically fan fiction and doesn't follow the plot of the first Phantom of the Opera. Christine dies like way before she actually does in Love Never Dies

Same Goes for Emile Rossum , best Christine I have heard so far not because of the singing cause there are many others who sang this really good but ... there is something about the cast of this film that makes it perfect like look at them omggggg

@@rebekahbrown2560 There is something about his voice that makes it more raw and emotional that I find very hypnotizing. Similar to the debate people have about Hugh Jackman's singing voice. Admittedly, it's not pure opera, but I like the depth he puts in the character.

I was 10 when i saw this in the cinema and i still love it till this day. I played it to my 6 year old son who i thought would NO WAYYYY sit through it! Turns out he now loves it too 😂
i’ve watched this movie since i was born,literally. i’ve seen many different versions,and this has to be my favorite. gerry did a beautiful job at the phantom,and emmy is just equally as marvelous. gerard butler has become a comfort character of mine,and this performance makes me feel so warm.
Great cast and music! Seen the play more times then I can count. Gerard and Emmy killed it as the best phantom and christine by far! Love the music!

@@idkatthispoint4657 Ramin puts thrillers on all the notes and when singing the theme song hos voice can't handle it. He's not a bad singer but he is no phantom. Gerard isn't a professional singer but he put so much emotion in to this role that no one can match him.
Elena Markicevic true.. the phantom has a pretty wide range and Ramin mainly plays characters with a higher voice.. such as Jean ValJean and Enjolras in Les Mis.. Ramin is to me one of the best singers in the theatre industry.. but when it comes to the phantom.. Gerard is perfect for the acting.. he makes the phantom seem more human and emotional.

I remember being 6, and going to my uncles house all the time and watching this with him. Then I watched the og play on Netflix, and I would just watch it over and over again. When it got token off I cried for days.

The Masquerade will always be my favorite part and and the music of the night I will never forget, Gerard Butler was always my favorite his voice is so amazing! 2020 and this movie will never get old
Joel Schumacher did an amazing job directing one the best musically movies of all time. Great cast, music, great performances. He will surely be missed. Their will never ever be another great director like him. RIP Joel. We miss you. Thanks for the great movies.

I JUST got into POTO like a week ago.. already have every word memorized.. so I decided to watch this on Netflix and I LOVED IT... my mom saw POTO like 30 years ago and loved the music but didn’t understand the story.. so I decided to show this to her last night... she loved everything about it and stayed up till 3 or 4 am searching up Gerard Butler XD

I really don’t mind the movie...everyone trashes it as inferior to the show, which don’t get me wrong is a beauty to see live, but I found this as magical and stunning

Gerard is my favorite Phantom, his voice is wonderful and he did Erik very well, Erik wasn't a monster, he was just a man rejected and humiliated by everyone, even Christine, the girl he loved the most. I hate Raoul and i love the Phantom...
I also hate poeple who think he's a "cruel murderer" or a "monster", and Christine wasn't right to chose Raoul, he has a pretty face and money, but Erik is the real man.
Erik did murder two innocent people though...

My philosophy teacher said that this story is special because shows how life is. The phantom is her essence, what she truly is. But she has to choose between follow her heart or the fame, the material world. She chooses the last one, but the end shows that she still have a chance to find herself in another life. She still belongs to the phantom.

The first time I saw this over 10 years ago, it immediately became one of my top 3 favorite movies. I have yet to see it again. Odd right? As much as I desire to, I vowed to myself that I wouldn't see it again until I met the right girl. The girl. Until then, this movie shall remain in wait until a future time and date.

But when she gave the DVD, and I saw it, I wanted to see and see it again and again,because I loved it. No way, Michael Crawford's Phantom and Sarah Brightman's Christine are far superior.
Really don't understand the hate this movie gets. Sure the stage show was better, but the movie really kept it close to the show, and I commend them for that. Saw this when it came out, and saw the stage show just before entering high school, and both still stick with me to this day.

I saw The Phantom of the Opera on stage last night in Sydney. It was amazing, something that once you see you will not forget.
Gerald Butler put anger in his singing which not ALOT of the other people who portrayed Phantom have done.
Vesting Knight10 he has passion, a growl in his voice, sorrow, anger in his voice, and sexual tension (idek how to explain it) that is why he is the best phantom in my opinion and just so damn amazing

How did it happen that Madame Giry looks so much older than the Phantom? In the flashback there were like of the same age or the Phantom is slighty older.
Chris Bryan I think it was because he had that bag over his head so we couldn’t really see how old he was, he was probably just tall for his age. I would say a good seven years age gap. And Madame Giry looks 40 so that would make Erik (the phantom) 33.

I saw this version when it first came out. Want to watch again. Just saw the musical at Bass Hall in Fort Worth. Wonderful. True to the story line.
I was so excited when the trailer was seen on tv and then it made it's way on to social media. Amazing cast! I love Gerry and Emmy as The Phantom and Chrisitne. And of course Patrice as Raoul. One of my favorite movies of all time and also directed by the late great Joel Shomaker.

wiinterflowers Yesss,,, I’ve been in love with les miserables for like 6 years, but I just watched phantom about a month ago on Netflix and I’ve been so obsessed sense, don’t get me wrong les mis is AMAZING but I think Phantom of the Opera really touches me and makes me cry every time with how the phantom aka Erik tries all that he knows of the world to get Christine to love her but she is frightened and is attracted to hi m at the same time, she loved him even when she got through the surface level she truly loved him and the kiss they shared was real.......... .......... srry I love this movie
@@rat1808 Oh sweetie it's okay. What I liked about Phantom of the Opera is 1) the costume design and 2) the singing. Plus you feel for the Phantom. I haven't read the book but I could have done without that downer of an ending. Also, I give Les Miserable 2 stars since some of the singing is good (I loved Marius' singing because HELLO, it's Eddie Redmayne)!
wiinterflowers the Les Mis movie is TERRIBLE... the only good singers in it to me and my whole family who grew up with Les Mis were Colm Wilkonson ( the Bishop ) because he was the original ValJean.. and Samantha Barks because she has been Eponine on stage quite a few times and obviously has had training... I do suggest listening to the original London cast or the 25th Anniversary with John Owen-Jones
