I’ve dealt with someone like this before. DEFINITELY decided to GTFO as soon as his mom was causing problems and he wouldn’t stand up for our relationship.
She's his GIRLFRIEND not his wife. If she wants a proposal and wedding, she should have waited for the proposal and wedding first before she shacked up with him. Kim needs to learn how to be independent and if she wants a house, she can work and buy her own house. Kim also needs to find a man who can be independent and buy his own house. Matt needs to find a woman who is not like his mother or Kim.
I know it's a big savings to build on his mom's property, but they will NEVER have a single drop of privacy. They can hear his mom's opinions, but her opinions definitely shouldn't hold more weight than the wife's. The mother is literally preparing herself to move in, like RIGHT AWAY. I hope they rethink this entire set-up. An extra $40-50,000 for their own plot of land, especially when rolled into a 15-30yr mortgage is worth it. You don't have to be a psychic to foretell this marriage is going to break up and his mom's intrusion will 100% be the catalyst. He's not separating his mother's experience of building a home, her suggestions, and her overbearing demands. They ARE demands. His mother doesn't really care if her son is happy. She only cares about her own happiness.
I agree. They have zero chance at a happy future with mama thinking she is an equal partner in their marriage. A new marriage is hard enough to reach the compromises we all must make in a partnership. Mama with her entitlement will leverage their home against the new wife until she splits and leaves Sonny boy (and the house) for mama. So he can look forward to changing those diapers. How ghastly. How many ladies out there want their SON to take care of their intimate needs? Not me, for sure. Hopefully, mine will have the loot to bring in a trained WOMAN.

This poor girl. Im so glad they didnt get married. While this may be a way to “save money”, in the event of a divorce she would have no assets in the form of a house at all.
