actually she's far from being a reporter (her name is Annita Pania). She did this kinda shows on Greek tv, inviting people with obvious mental issues, like this guy, just to make other people laugh (herself too). The strangest the people she invited the better. Coming from a native Greek, something you don't understand is that the "reporter" you mentioned is actually a legendary tv host notorious for exploiting mentally and socially challenged people to participate in her freak shows. That's how she's been making a living for decades. She herself tried to make a move and slipped up later. It's all part of the act. Also, the people she calls to the studio are primarily just impoverished people who sell of their quirky characters in exchange for some money. That's no "fake martial arts master", it's just one of those dudes. I know it must sound rather tragic now that you know, but that's pretty much the case.

I was a Kung Fu master at age 8, all my neighborhood friends were too. We took turns whooping up on each other in our back yard. Only bad thing was when we tried it at school with other kids it didn't seem to work too good. It seemed like only if you knew when and how to fall and roll would it work. May e the other kids had their tongues in the wrong place, you know to nullify it.

I can't explain just how many "masters" like this were around and teaching before the internet and mixed marshal arts became mainstream. I remember as a kid a McDojo opened up in our town, and a lot of kids joined. They had to sign papers saying that they would never use the moves they were taught in actual fights because they might end up killing the kid they're fighting. It got so bad that the the "master" had the kids believing that one of their kicks could kill a moose. One of the kids decided to try one of their killer kicks on another kids dog once... it didn't end well. The dog did die, but that was because it had to be put down after he ripped the kid a new asshole.
The McDojo closed after that, but for years the kids who went there swore they were bad asses. Then we eventually got to high school and one of these kids decided to try wrestling. After getting taken down and pinned in less than 15 seconds (which isn't anything that a beginner should be embarrassed by) the kid decided to talk shit and say that he could kill the wrestler with his karate or whatever the hell they called it. Unfortunately for him the older wrestler accepted the kids challenge and took the kid down and pinned him over and over again. He even spun on his back and grabbed the kids wrists and made him hit himself. The karate kids didn't talk smack after that, especially with the UFC just getting started.

I grew up amongst Martial Arts Masters. The sudden emergence of masters of varying disciplines usually happened every friday night after watching three kung fu movies back to back at the local cinema for the princely sum of £1.50p. Some masters resigned because their chosen style was deemed far too dangerous to the uninitiated student. Like the time my friend Eggy who was a red, green & gold belt got kicked in the mouth by another friend who was the master of the dumb fuk style while we were waiting outside of Mrs Brown's dumpling shop.
I feel bad for the first guy. Could you imagine being so powerful that you couldn't ever pet a dog without killing it? Lol

Im nearly 40…I found amateur MMA from about 18-25. We have a local “martial arts” school right down the road in my neighborhood and I was getting out of shape. I figured what the heck, maybe I can learn some new things I didn’t know and get back in shape. Little did I know the con taking place. I was there on a 2 week free pass and what I saw taking place should be illegal. It was a grown man taking advantage of naive parents and impressionable kids. The first red flag for me was the price of admission per month…next was how many 13 year olds were wearing black belts. They were charging each person nearly $125 a month and that’s not even including the price they’re charging for “equipment.” That also doesn’t include the 4 seminars, which took place through the two weeks, that were mandatory and each cost $99. I didn’t have to pay of course, but I could only attend a regular “class” from 5-7. The guy knew I had some experience so when I started going he claimed he was going to do refreshers on basic techniques, this was after lecturing people that MMA isn’t a real martial art. That was his dig at me telling him I had experience. I paired up with one of the older students and quickly learned these people knew nothing. I put up with it until the 12th day and then began calling out both instructors to roll with me during breaks. I tapped the first instructor out in less than 30 seconds with a rear naked choke. After it happened he decided instead of taking the L to critique the form I used to take his back and sink in the choke. Whatever. The second instructor was much larger, but refused to roll with me until the 13th day when I finally talked him into it. It took about a minute, but I finished him off with the same choke. After that I told the instructor if he could tap me out or spar with me and at least keep up I would apply and pay for a membership. He refused and told me if I didn’t leave he would call the police and have me trespassed. I left, but then later found out he was actually teaching our small town police force “self defense” techniques. Needless to say this guys a fraud who not only wouldn’t spar or roll with me, but he was scamming the entire town into believing he was some great martial artist. This fool even had his own “style” he taught. His dojo was complete with posters and pictures of him with people like Van Damme and Jai White. I’d like to thank him though, it made me realize that I should open up a real gym, for real fighters. Been going strong ever since

@@AnonYmous-wm6wq My sister learned ninjutsu from an abusive POS at one point. I knew it was crap all along, but I had no clue just how deceitful it was. I finally heard that he was verbally abusing his pupils and at that point I behaved my full contrarian self and called complete scam BS on a lot of martial arts, especially aikido and ninjutsu.

As much as anyone can hate Seagal, the fact that he is a black belt in aikido, knows the sport well enough to teach in Japan and the fact that he was credited for his help by Lyoto Machida (I guess no one is stupid enough to contest the fact that The Dragon is a MMA fighter) is undeniable.

@Dean Jones show me he's a fraud. Proof buddy. He is legitimate - and was the first foreigner to teach Aikido in Japan. FACT. Say what you want about Aikido and its usefulness but he is not a fake. He might not be the best fighter out there by a mile too - but dont be an arsehole about his background.
Funny story, when I was a kid I lived next to a "martial arts" studio and the guy said he taught Bruce Lee. So one day my friend is working at the store next to the "studio" and this guy came in to rob it. As he was leaving the karate guy was getting out of his car and the robber hit him in the head, knocked him out and stole his car.

BTW, I think that the seminars with people running into someone SCREAMING on them with a sex face and spread arms are legitimately just doing a natural reaction someone would when he's startled. I think the sand clip they have later... They weren't actually all students who were in a cult but many new recruits, so one of them didn't stop and just bumped into the screamer, tackling them down - not because he was a skeptic - but because his reaction was a bit different naturally.
The goal of ANY sport is to replace the natural human reflex, of, say, covering your head when a ball flies into you, into a developed reaction needed for that sport (i.e. catching a ball in basketball, headbutting it in footie, or using a volleyball move etc.) The fake martial arts throwing people around replace the normal reflexes people would have with choreography. Aikido, for example, has this issue where the experienced students fly around amazingly but newbies don't KNOW when they're supposed to fall hehe.
It would be kind of funny if these “masters” were actually developmentally challenged adults and the “students” were just caregivers playing pretend with them!
