    My first deathloop in +30knots condition. 5 min in the session after driving from New York to OBX ;(
    I have had one experience in light wind with 12m. I was able to spin bar faster than loop to unwind line for depower line to work...
    in + 30 knots sounds like you should depower kite as fast as possible, and if it starts deathlooping release quick!
    Basically kite inverted, then i pulled some back line to turn it back around, probably would have resulted in back line wrapped around front line but would have been able to get back to shore easily.
    Anyway in the process bridle line wrapped around wing tip so kite started deathlooping, i tried to grab a back line to get the tension out of the rest of the line but it was already too late as there was too much twist in line.
    Did a quick release but line wouldn't depower as it was wrapped in twist.
    At this point I am getting dragged and considering my options. There was a kite instructor not too far on jetski but I guess he didn't spot me.
    Decided to release kite but couldn't' really find leash release while getting dragged. I decided to roll on my back to pull it out, got hold of it and pushed out, nothing happened... I was getting dragged underwater. It happens very fast but for a second it was pretty scary.
    Anyway ended up ditching it.
    Was lucky to get back to kite before it hit land. One line got around some buoy...
    Ended up super far downwind, after making it back I pumped a smaller kite and enjoyed a decent session with a small rib injury.
    I guess tomorrow I will use a short/seat harness.

    He was pulling WAY too much on the steering lines to relaunch which was both ineffective and dangerous. The excess line wrapped around the bar and initiated the death loop. This is a good lesson on how you DO NOT relaunch a kite.

      I correct myself, it wrapped the wingtip of the kite, not the bar

    • @JeromeLoman
      @JeromeLoman  8 лет назад +9

      Hi,
      I'm not trying to relaunch. It's hard to see in video but the kite is inverted inside out with strut facing out and canopy in. It happened to me a few times with this kite and only way to fix it is to pull steering line to rotate kite. In the process it caught wingtip.
      There is a consensus that with this kite it's the only way to fix inside out (not to be confused with inverted were steering line are wrapped around center line which is not a big deal to handle). FYI that kite doesn't need any steering line input to relaunch it has auto relaunch feature;)
      Here is what inside out kite means www.kiteforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&p=600202

      Yeah Calvin, I noticed immediately as he landed his jump, that the kite had inverted, he was pretty much screwed right then and there. desperate times needed desperate measures. to un-invert the kite just swim towards it hardcore and hope like hell it uninverts. pull the hell out of one side and hope the kite flips the right way. or fly it back to shore with it inverted, it will fly like a bitch, but it will get you to shore a little safer than looping.

    • @nzkite27
      @nzkite27 8 лет назад

      the problem occurred right when he was in the air. he didn't keep it above him enough, you need it above you to keep your body upright and board down towards the water nicely. he landed waay too horizontally and the kite was falling too fast, and he was also going with the kite downwind too fast and over took it.

    Great video to show us all what happens on a death loop. And yes, let the kite right itself before and don't pull on the line like that as you could have caught yourself up. You're lucky! Thanks for posting and being brave to do so.

    I had exactly the same problem with a kitestudent. Same bar same kite. 11m with 22knots. the Bridle lines gets around the wingtip the kites started Kitelooping. I pulled my relaese and it stayed stuck. I was holding back to him when this happend. Me as the instructor swimmed infront to grap one of the power lines. And depowerd de kite eventually. It was shallow water. So it was easy to grap the kite. But still dangerous. I almost wanted to full relaese. But like every kiter. We love our kites so much!
    I call out to the brand to fix this problem. Change the relaese system of the bar is the most important.
    But the kites they are sweet!!

      +Nick Bo Mama I contacted them too prior to that experience because I noticed kite rarely flags out when you hit QR, they said bandit is high performance kite and depowers when you hit QR. they said I should use the "trust" for better QR system...
      I wonder why they can't have a better bar. Perhaps when that kite flag out on one line it will often get stuck in bridal so they prefer to depower it on both line instead of flagging on 1?
      That's only thing I can think of to explain the current system.

      That’s an older design, where it release on 2 center line instead of 1, the new system from that brand is on 1 line release now.
      Though there can still be freak accident where lines get stuck through harness hook...
      Also in usual conditions 15 to 25 knots wouldn’t have been so bad.
      I had a lot of room so decided to wait it out a bit before releasing the leash...

    What would you have done different now? Self rescue immediately ? Pulled left steering line?

    • @JeromeLoman
      @JeromeLoman  7 лет назад +2

      +Stan Carvell 1) If kite is inverted inside out with strong wind I would self rescued instead of trying to fix it in water. On this kite to fix I would pull steering line until it's flagged and then self rescue
      2) for wing tip stuck in bridle, i had another one in the fall and pulling steering line worked! But wind was light.
      3) always be ready to release the leash, in most case the kite won't be damaged and will be easy to retrieve (don't do it if far from beach and can't swim though)
      4) get a new bar with swivel that flag on 1 line (2018 fone bar is like that now)

    Jerome, when the kite falls with leading edge facing up, try to pull both central lines, not the side lines. It always works.

    • @JeromeLoman
      @JeromeLoman  8 лет назад +2

      Hi, thanks but that's not exactly the issue. The kite was inside out with strut facing downwind and canopy toward me. In that situation pulling front lines doesn't work (at least with this kite, tried many times)
      Some kite would recover quick release but not with that one, I have tried a few times. A kite instructor recently had same issue and recovered with steering line but put back tension slowly which avoided bridle getting caught, unlike me ;(
      I guess main issue is that I let go of line once kite was turned and slack caught onto bridle...

  • @houseofdyer
    @houseofdyer 7 лет назад +2

    Glad you are okay. You hung in there longer than I would've. I had a similar invert yesterday and I didn't even try to fix it by pulling a ton of steering line. Good on ya for trying. That's a scary loop you had going on there. Especially when you started looking behind you and got yanked underwater. Was the wind offshore or something?

    • @JeromeLoman
      @JeromeLoman  7 лет назад

      +Dave Dyer It is in the bay which is curved so it was like side slightly on. I was 300 yards from shore because there is a big pier downwind of launch spot. With GoPro you can't see but when it started looping I had plenty of room ( maybe 3/4 miles) to wait it out and consider options.
      Indeed the scary part is when I turned around to release leash and was under water for a few seconds.

    if you had pulled the opposite steering line once it started looping instead of punching out it would have stopped looping. then you could have pulled in a bunch of that line to flag the kite out and self rescue. Glad you're okay. You're lucky it wasn't onshore conditions. Congrats on walking away from a kitemare

    • @JeromeLoman
      @JeromeLoman  8 лет назад

      Actually some dude made a video on how to stop deathloop you have to pull line to make t loop more until it depower. Makes sense if it's already looping right and you pull more right the kite can't loop faster it will just stall. I tried that, didn't work as it was a mess so released.
      If you pull left lane kite will power up and not sure you can hold it and with wingtip cought by bridle not even sure it's possible.
      I should just have self rescued instead of attempting to fix inverter kite. It was my first tack after driving 10 hours from New York so I was impatient to kite...
      Broke my thumb 2 days later when kite went slack and bar snapped when kite powered up hitting my thumb in process.... My friend had deathloop with feet cought in line and his girlfriend snapped clavicle. Pretty hard core trip in OBX ;(

    • @ChristianJohnsons
      @ChristianJohnsons 8 лет назад

      +Jerome Loman no sorry but you're remembering it wrong. You should watch that video again. Pulling the opposite line will back stall the kite. You didn't try that and it would have worked. Search for "surviving the death loop" cheers CJ.

      Christian Johnson indeed I just watched it again! The dude says to pull the slack line.... Though breaking my thumb makes me think it's dangerous to touch line on 30 knots ;(

    Thanks for sharing this mate. I hope you are not discouraged by the armchair expert commenters trying to make things seem oh so obvious in hindsight.
    I like to watch videos like this because they are sobering and serve to remind me that kitesurfing is a high risk activity and such risks can be mitigated but not eliminated entirely - even with 100% perfect decision making, which is not going to happen 100% of the time (particularly in high stress situations)

    • @JeromeLoman
      @JeromeLoman  6 лет назад

      Thanks, not at all, I have had a 2 or 3 dozen rescue since then so it's good practice ;) actually I'm pretty confident almost all decision were right except kiting in that whether and try to fix full inverted kite in the water... but then a kite instructor friend had exactly same situation with same gear on video and took exact same steps I did minus wingtip in bridle with deathloop...
      Most important thing is that gear, and security can fail so you got to know how to handle that too... a lot of people leave in a bubble and have never even rescued once.
      sometimes tiny mistake and bad luck can amount to big fuck up. A few days ago a very experience guy almost got swept out to sea, water was flat, low tide, 25 knots straight onshore, because of rip tide (breakers 1 mile from shore creating rip tide) he couldn't self rescue, had to call coast guards, eventually a buddy dragged him back when it was getting dark... his bridle broke pretty close to shore, he was the last one coming back from a small downwinder.

  • @tahayuksel9491
    @tahayuksel9491 6 лет назад

    Hi Jerome, I am glad that you're ok. Thanks for sharing this video. I had an experience something like that this summer and still did not understand the reason. I jumped and when I fall and trying to launch the kite, I faced a deathloop. The worst thing is I was very close to the shore and though I released the leash, the kite continued to turn and pulling me. Hopefully some kitesurfer hold my kite and prevented a worse experience.
    But still I do not understand why it happends, what to do from preventing it happening at the very begining and what are the options to survive the deathloop. So do you claim that as have been told in the video "surviving the deathloop" just pulling the kite from one side will stall the kite and depower it???

    • @JeromeLoman
      @JeromeLoman  6 лет назад

      +Taha Yüksel thanks,
      For me it happened because bridle caught wingtip, but recently I got some on my new kite when line is wrapped in bar. Best way to prevent is to keep tension in the lines at all time...
      Recently I had one in light wind and the trick in video "surviving deathloop" where you pull steering line to stall kite worked fast! But in stronger wind it could be hard to pull the line... the slingshot bar has "o shit handle" which seems like best way to stall kite if necessary.
      Also QUick release doesn't alway fix it because bar either doesn't have a swivel or swivel rarely work so after a few loop the flag line is stuck... also my fone bandit doesn't flag well on 2 line anyway...
      I think best way to prevent is to have a good bar with good swivel, manual swivel so you keep line uncrossed, single line safety or fifth line, bar ends in foam molded so less risk of bar wrap, possibly pu tube so power lines are also away from you to avoid bar wrap, o shit handle on bar ends...
      Good luck! I think with experience you shouldn't be worried. You can release the leash! Make sure to put leash on front or side of harness though!

    Hi Jerome, thanks for posting this video.
    Pardon my english, I actually speak spanish.
    I am very interested in what happened to you.
    I haven´t seen an inverted kite in years, if properly inflated. I Didn´t like at all what happened to you. I don´t blame you, except by not to control your anxiety and geting into water in rainy weather after driving ten hours.
    A few questions, if you please:
    ¿Did you inflate the kite properly?
    ¿Was it heavy raining? ¿When you began your session was the fabric of the kite wet? ¿Did you spent a long time preparing yourself since you inflated the kite till you enter the water?
    ¿Was it cold water and cold weather?
    At the end of the video, when you reach your kite, it seems that it lacks of air pressure in the leading edge bladder.
    That could explains why the kite inverted.
    If the kite was wet and heavy, that could explains why the kite didn´t end the downloop and fell into water the very first time.
    Thanks for your time, and have good winds.

    • @JeromeLoman
      @JeromeLoman  8 лет назад +1

      Kite was pretty inflated maybe not 100% but close to it . Definitely a lot more than at the end of video. I did self launch and the kite properly turned on its wing tip without buckling. I think all those deathloop and cold water made the kite loose a bit of pressure??? The kite invert that way s few times if I land a downloop with a lot of downwind speed just like on video, it happened to me last fall.
      The water wasn't that cold maybe 13 degree. The air was warm that day maybe 18.
      Yes the kite was totally wet, it had a puddle of water on top of it prior to me launching. We waited for rain to calm down before going out. I have never considered that wet kite doesn't behave the same.

    • @gastoncastro8972
      @gastoncastro8972 8 лет назад +1

      +Jerome Loman Thats exactly my point. When you inflate the kite, in some way the compressed air you pump in is "hot". This air is expanded and adds pressure to the bladder. In cold weather (it was raining, Wet fabric), this air begin to get cold, it contracts and the bladders lose pressure. A wet, heavy with low pressure kite could tend to invert ocassionally. Maybe F One has some issues with the designs of its kites in this way, too. And a heavy and wet kite could not respond properly to comands. Thank you very much for your answer.

    • @JeromeLoman
      @JeromeLoman  8 лет назад +1

      Gaston Castro yes often after a self rescue or if kite get wet a lot I find that the kite somehow lost a lot of pressure.
      Several time I thought there was a leak but I have done very long session without issues so it's not a leak.
      I think I need to pump my kite a bit harder. Lately I was afraid to go too hard because the stitching on my 2014 kite is getting a bit loose...

    • @aimarmolero
      @aimarmolero 5 лет назад

      @@gastoncastro8972 I have f-one kites I inflate them a lot (because its required) but I have at least suffered 10-15 inverts from bandit 2017 and breeze 2017. I normally manage to reinvert them but I usually get my lines twisted after it.
      I am pretty sure its a problem with the design from this kites, I have rpm/slingshot, and also I had north gear and never had this problem before.
      It usually happens when I lost line tension after a jump, and the kite its at 12 it falls and whiile its falling you see how the kite inverts. Or when (like you can see in the video at 0:18) it falls on the water without line tension and also it rolls.

    This happened to me a few weeks ago on my Bandit 6 with Monolith bar - pretty scary!! A line wrapped around one of the wingtips and deathlooped just like in this video. I had to pull both safety releases but luckily someone caught my kite on the beach. Does anyone know if the new F-one Linx bar would stop this happening because it has single line flag out?

    • @JeromeLoman

      I think will help for sure to have single safety line. But in some case the line could get stuck too. On my five line kite a line got stuck on bar end once ... best is to know how to use both safety when necessary.
      My issue with monolith bar is that when you release the kite doesn’t flag and still has a lot of power when sitting in relaunch position... so not great in some situation

      I tried that when I noticed it started to deathloop by pulling right steering line but it didn't work. Someone told me I should have pulled left steering line which would backstall kite...
      Once I released I didn't try to pull myself to the bar but it would have been hard I think.

      +Jerome Loman yeah. Tough situation. I saw another death loop tutorial video where they mention pulling the slack steering line.
      This video shows the beauty of OBX. Worse case scenario, just punch out and walk back to shore, get your kite later and hope it didn't get damaged or hurt somebody.

    why did you started to pull the line after crash ?

    • @JeromeLoman
      @JeromeLoman  8 лет назад

      The kite rolled over half turn so was inside out inverted where strut are ou outside of canopy instead of inside. To avoid messing up canopy shape I reacted fast. On this kite quick release does work to fix that kind of inversion, so I pull one steering line to rotate kite so it can catch some wind and un invert. Unfortunately bridle got warped around wingtip in process.

    Isn't it safer to pull the front lines while at the same time going toward the kite in this situation while the kite was still not moving?

      +Johnny-Anthony Khawand
      Hi, not sure what part of video you are refering to. But kite was inside out so with 2 center line systerm pulling center line doesn't work, you first have to flip kite around by depowering on backline. Once I had it sideways with back line I should have walked to kite and self rescue.
      checkout www.kiteforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&p=600202
      Explains what is inside out kite and most people agree it's right thing to do.

    • @johnnykhawand
      @johnnykhawand 8 лет назад

      +Jerome Loman Like you were doing at around 1:05 but instead of resisting let yourself float even if it pulls you, you grab with one hand at a time like when you climb a rope. This way you get closer to the kite and at the same time there is no power with short front lines between the point you are grabbing and the kite. Also to clarify i am not trying to be the expert or suggesting just asking if this is a good idea or not.

    • @JeromeLoman
      @JeromeLoman  8 лет назад +1

      Johnny-Anthony Khawand well main thing is that I was my trying to self rescue but you are right swimming toward kite to release tension is an advance technique but you have to be careful that you don't get lines wrapped around leg so it is safer to pull line in once kite is depower after 4 feet of line on any line the power is pretty much killed. Also when you pull line in the slack stays downwind of you so no risk to get tied around leg or arms. People drown like that.

      Hi, the kite was inverted flying with front fabric back and back front... I tried quick release in that situation and it doesn't work.

    • @JeromeLoman

      Michael M hi, I agree that it should n t be done in that kind of wind. There is just no way with my kite to fix inside out kite. Check it out most agree that with bandit the only way to fix kite inside out is to depower it by pulling back line.
      It happened to me a few times and I tried QR, pulling 1 center line and nothing worked, only back line worked.
      Check it out: www.kiteforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&p=600202
      So my only real solution is to release kite totally if I don't want to touch line...
      I think it's ok to pull on line if you are waist deep water pull only one hand at a time and keep line downwind of you. And make sure wind is not too strong that you don't loose grip... After pulling a few feet there isn't much power left but I agree that if a gust comes it will be ugly,
      So I did cause bridle to catch wing tip but I had no way to fix inside out kite and there is no way to fly it in those conditions. So only solution is to release the whole thing and given no one is there to help me retrieve it I didn't do that...
      Most people think kite was inverted with crossed line and that I didn't know how to do water relaunch that's not what happened here...

    • @JeromeLoman
      @JeromeLoman  7 лет назад

      Alejandro Santos hi, watch the videos from Anton Chernyshov "surviving the deathloop" there are 2 videos.
      Basically instead of hitting QR he advises to pull the line to choke / stall kite. The line on which the kite is already turning. So if it loops right pull a few feet of the right line...
      I had actually watched that video but didn't remember which line to pull and tried the wrong one, i wasn't able to pull it so hit QR,
      Recently I had another one on another kite and hit QR again but bar was stuck in line so I released the leash right away and my friend retrieved the kite for me.

    • @alejandrosantos2956
      @alejandrosantos2956 7 лет назад

      What do you call QR hit?

    • @JeromeLoman
      @JeromeLoman  7 лет назад

      Alejandro Santos I mean hitting Quick Release. As you can see in my video sometimes hitting Quick release doesn't work. the kite looped already too many times so the flag line is stuck sometimes line are wrapped around bar so Quick releas won't help.
      Some people would advice to follow the rules which means hitting Quick release then hitting the leash release if it doesn't work.
      Another solution is to stall the kite by pulling the line as the video "surviving deathloop" shows.
      There are situations where the leash can be stuck in the lines and bar, only way to fix that is to cut the lines of stall the kite by pulling lines. There are even scenarios where it's not possible to cut the lines. So stay calm and see your different options...
      In general if you don't do crazy trick and keep tension in your lines at all times you shouldn't run in those situations but it's good to know just in case.
      Bandit has long bridle make sure there is always tension on lines so they don't slack and get around wing tip, that means on drift launch you have to be careful...
      I practice new tricks all the times and I have had many small deathloop just like this one. The other week I had 3 in one session. Perhaps 2 session per year I'll have small incidents .... comesmainly from practicing kiteloop or over coming kite with a lot of downwind speed.

    • @alejandrosantos2956
      @alejandrosantos2956 7 лет назад

      Thank you very much for your comments, help and much. In these new sessions as you left the deathloops?

    • @JeromeLoman
      @JeromeLoman  7 лет назад

      Alejandro Santos there is typo in your questions but once wind was light so I fixed it just like Anton video, I pulled the steering line and kite stalled right away.
      One important thing is to use a short leash attached to the front of your harness, as you can see in video I couldn't release the leash because it was on back of harness so I had to tune on my back getting dragged under water to release it..
      Recently I had some on my Best GP which has a fifth line, I hit the Quick release and kite flagged right away, but It happened another time where I landed through the line after a big kiteloop so the lines where stuck around bar, in that case I released both the quick release and leash.
      Be careful and if you touch the lines be even more careful, its dangerous to touch the lines but even more dangerous to be stuck in a deathloop when hitting Quick release doesn't work and you can't reach leash.

  • @kingprone7846
    @kingprone7846 8 лет назад +1

    if the safety release puts away the bar that much i wouldnt release during a deathloop. Much better to just pull hard on either steering line to crash and stall the kite.

    • @JeromeLoman
      @JeromeLoman  8 лет назад

      I think you are right first thing to try is to pull either steering line to stall it. I tried right line but it was too hard so I released before it looped too many time. I should have tried left line which is the way advised in famous video.
      Ideally you need a bar with "oh shit handle", they are small loop at the end of bar which allow you to pull and handful of steering line through the bar...

    • @kingprone7846
      @kingprone7846 8 лет назад +1

      honestly if in doubt just pull either and keep it pulled. the kite will stall. Once a kite starts looping its already incredibly unstable so even a slight pull to either side is enough to crash it after a few loops at least.
      Saying this I think all bars should come with centre tubing and ideally steering line tubings to prevent tangeling around the bar..... With modern kites the only way you can really screw yourself over is by the getting a line wrap. Cabrinha only does it for the centre lines and a lot of manufactures dont do it all. I assume to weight constraints of the bar....

    • @Xenitic
      @Xenitic 8 лет назад

      i take that back. The 2016 cabrinha bar also has pretty substative steering line tubing.

      ricard046 I had that kite inverted inside out a year back and quick release didn't fix it, but on most other kite it works from what I have heard. This one has really long bridle and is a 2 center line flag system so doesn't seem to work because bridle stays tight around leading edge. Anyway to keep it simple you can always quick release then ditch the leash if it doesn't work. If you know your gear and you are confident you can try other things....

      It's actually pretty close to shore maybe 300 m. Wind is side shore and there is a big pier going out so we need to be at least that far from land to stay clear of the pier else could be dangerous.

    • @JeromeLoman
      @JeromeLoman  7 лет назад

      Umut Birey the kite flipped 180 and was inverted inside out, the quick release doesn't work in that case because bridle is wrapped tight around leading edge (on this kite from experience but other kite could work).
      So to recover from invert I have to pull steering line to get kite to rotate fully and fix invert...

    NEVER pull that amount of line OVER YOU, you are actually VERY LUCKY the lines didn't entangle your arm, leg, or body and things could have ended much worse.
    I notice your kite is under inflated, hence loosing its shape and flipping over.
    If I were you in that situation, I'd have normally pulled on the sterring hand bars, trying to reset the kite, if nothing works, pull the QR and self resque drag yourself to shore.
    Lucky you this mastake only cost your board (i assume).

    Can you confirm this is a F-one Bandit? why the kite didn't flag?

    • @JeromeLoman
      @JeromeLoman  8 лет назад +1

      Yes that's f-one bandit 2015 9m
      Most kite won't flag after deathloop started. Furthermore when I launched I forgot to unwind the center line twist from bar to high Y because previous session I did many downloop.
      Also bandit doesn't flag out it just depower when you release. It's 2 center line safety and bridle line tension keep the kite fairly powered. That's main reason why it has such a big range.

    • @tibods166

In most cases you can start kite and go to shore to fix it. If start is imposible just use sefty system before causing death loop ;)

      Lukas Steigerwald thanks, you probably can't see but I'm not trying to relaunch. The kite rolled down and became inside out inverted (strut are facing outward instead of inward), QR doesn't work to fix it because bridle is long, only way is to pull a steering line to rotate kite fully. Unfortunately wingtip got stuck in bridle in the process... anyway in same situation I would leave the kite inverted and just rescue since it was waist deep water...

      @mivox1 8 лет назад

      +Jerome Loman exactly! i was teaching with f-one gear the last 6 months and its really strange if u explain a student the safety and if u teach them later the self rescue u get a kite which is pulling the whole time as fuck… even if the kite is not death looping….
      what u can do: connect the saftyline which is connected to the untwister directly to one of the power lines.. then the kite flag out but the untwister is to working anymore….:D how ever beside that the kites are really great!

    • @JeromeLoman
      @JeromeLoman  8 лет назад

      mivox1 my other issue is that I do a lot of landing loop and the high y thingy (untwister?) doesn't untwist line. Sometimes I forget to unwind it and apparently f-one said that if there is more than 3 or 5 rotation the bar won't travel to yellow stopper ball. But the truth is that even if bar travel to yellow stopper ball the kite can stay fairly powered. I blame the tight bridle and delta shape which I guess helps with auto relaunch feature of kite by sucks for depower.
      One time I did a self landing holding center line at high y and the kite was flying fine. Even holding only one center line it didn't really flag out right aesy and would sometime relaunch.
      I have seen some bar design where back line has a loop through the bar so you could put safety there. Just like a trainer kite slingshot b3.... But then you can pack down and self rescue which is ok in + 30 knots anyway.

    • @tibods166
      @tibods166 8 лет назад +1

      +Jerome Loman You might be able to fit a North Quick release without too much issue. The North QR has a manual swivel to untangle the lines. F-one just copied North quick release but forgot the manual swivel.

    I have dealt with FOne bandits a lot and the flag out safety system is awful and potentially dangerous. PLEASE FONE SORT IT OUT!!! The kite itself is great to fly and ride, but unless you modify it to a 5th line it doesn't lose power.
    You can not perform a proper self rescue on the bandit…..maybe its ok for shallow lagoon conditions but for deep water riding this kite is a danger to the rider.
    Also the guys technic for relaunch was ridiculous…..never pull the line in like that.

    • @JeromeLoman
      @JeromeLoman  7 лет назад

      +drewid78 agree for bandits
      I wasn't trying to relaunch kite. The kite rolled downwind 180degree and powered inside out with canopy facing me, and strut downwind, hitting QR doesn't fix t because bridle is wrapped tight around leading edge keeping inverted shape tight. Only way to fix it is to pull steering line, like I did to rotate kite so it turns around.
      Mistake I did was to let go of line instead of letting go slowly to avoid bridle wrap.
      My kite instructor friend had same thing happened and fixed it same way minus bridle wrap..
      Anyway it's hard to see but if you watch video on a big screen you might see that kite is flying backward, inverted like a sock inside out...
