Welcome back to another video, this time I am back at my nemesis kite spot on the south side of the Isle of Wight... a secret wave spot, that is definitely not to be taken lightly... last season I destroyed a 5m Rebel in the rocks here after an amazing wave session... this year I don't event get to ride that many waves before disaster strikes... Thank goodness for the new @DUOTONEKiteboarding #SLS
Strapless wave kitesurfing is my favourite way to take on the UK storm weather, big waves and strong winds. If I'm not free riding twin tip for big air, the waves are the way forward...

At the very beginning we really feel how stressed you are and at that point I think I would have turn backward haha. Looks like your Neos like rocks there, it is good that you are not injured.

Hey, i was wondering if its safe learning to loop on the flexifoil ion 7m (12 years old). I also have a north pulse 10m 2021 but i think 10m is to big to learn loops. What should i do learn with my 10 or with the old 7?
I think you will be much better off looping a newer kite as they will fly better and recover nicer… a 10m should be fine for your first low lever late loops etc
It would be cool if you gave a summary of what you did after kite went down. Pulled the safety and let wave take kite? Did you try and roll lines in water. I’ve been in this situation and tore my kite in half because I tried to relaunch and wave took my kite and I didn’t pull safety in time. I was amazed your kite survived
Yea there is no rule book for this sort of situation, however I would say that a deep water pack down or getting anywhere near the lines is a bad idea.
Main target, don’t loose any fingers. Get in safe, recover equipment later!’

Really wondering why did you go strapless wave riding on Rebel and not Neo (especially in such conditions..). It's pretty obvious in the vid that the kite's drift sucked so eventually it fell into the water. Looks like a nice day for a Neo 5 or 6 :). Anywayz tnx for sharing , looks good

Did you totally release your bar and swim in separately from the kite, making sure you didnt get tangled in the lines? I have always thought that is the best strategy if you down your kite in large waves and cant relaunch quickly.
Yes that’s what I did as I didn’t want to get levered around any rocks… risky strategy tho, as could loose while thing. But better than drowning!! 🙏🤟

It’s the 5’2” duotone whip SLS it’s a sick board!! Also pretty strong 💪
I wonder if a more specific wave kite would drift and save the day where the rebel doesn't, I know skinny leading edge have great upwind but less drift, I have used rebel on waves it's a NO GO compared wave kites
It’s may well have been different, but I think these gusts in this wind direction where a little aggressive for most kites 😅😂

I think that spot is trying to tell you something, can you not downwinder too it ? That rebel wants to fallout the sky maybe switch to a wave kite or a different brand

Thats not gnarly tom thats just reckless, climbing down those rocks with the kite falling out the sky... and obviously the wind will be bad you're in the wind shadow of the cliff, how was it worth the risk? Learn from the mistakes of the last kitemare there, don't let your skills go to waste

@@tomcourtkite sorry, but Max is right, if things go wrong on those rocks you don't get a second chance, also no helmet in a rocky spot is madness mate, don't think it won't happen to you, I've been there it happens fast and a kite in gusty conditions is an accident waiting to happen.
