We know that they have the ultimate goal of trying to stop the destruction, but they are willing to do anything in the furtherance of that goal. In a literary sense that probably makes them antiheroes. But strictly speaking, they are very much terrorists.
@@yaelz6043 While on the surface yes, most worlds actually don't know they have a stellaron to begin with thats going to kill them alleventually. The stellaron hunters basically force thier way into a planet to take it away, in some ways this either cause wars or revolutions as seen in kafkas animated trailer.
Not only that but the stellaron sometimes is hidden or is named differently for example on one planet the stellaron looked like some really high end expenseive gem and the people who had it had no idea it was world ending thing, so in thier eyes the stellaron hunters literally "Just came in and stole a high value gem and ran away" that same animated trailer shows even more example but at the end they always end up painted as villains cause of all the colateral damage caused in the process.

I don't see the racism here, she is using a stereotype to insult him as a way to gain control over the conversation. The point of every insult she throws at him is that he is untrustworty, manipulative and deceitful, and she would never work with somebody she already knows only wants to use her, exploit her and betray her later. We also know that the ICP is a hypercapitalist institution without scruples, so while we don't know if Aventurine's race does live up to the stereotype, we know everything she said to him applies to the ICP, so she isn't wrong to use that way of speach to reject him. More over, the insult is not that his people are manipulators and traitors, but that HE lives up to the stereotype, being the one that brings shame to his kind. Sparkle right now is the most ambiguous character in the story, and she was a total Asshole to Sunday by moking him right after the death of his sister, but racist? That´s a streatch
she is racist though…and yeah she did say that he lives up to the stereotype but right before that she literally said *“you sigonians”*. the way she worded that was already weird especially if someone spoke like that about a real race….people feel weird about it since sigonians are based on the romani people (look up the word sigonia/sigonian and avgin), who have had stereotypes exactly like the ones sparkle mentioned. you can’t really blame people for feeling uncomfortable. and yeah she did say she dislikes him bc of the ipc but you can’t deny that it was kind of unnecessary for her to bring up his race/ethnicity and talk about it like that lol (and this is us talking about the english version. the original chinese text isn’t any better)
If you saw the leaks a user mentions that Dr ratio and sparkle treat aventurine differently due to his people. And apperantly the tattoo on his neck translates to "slave" and that he's on death row or meant to die.

Twitter users have problems thinking critically about a lot of things, especially when they aren't being told how to think. It's likely not solely an issue of Sparkle being evil, it's that they want to play as her but cannot justify themselves playing as a person they don't completely empathize with and support. They do the same thing to authors who write about controversial topics, assuming that because someone has written about the issue they must also believe in and support that same viewpoint. In their eyes, anybody who plays Sparkle is agreeing with how she treats Aventurine and any other horrible things she does in the story, and are therefore horrible people themselves.

Context: Those people are mad not because Sparkle is racist, but because she used a real, straightforward slur for Romani people in (only) the CN dub. Basically they're mad because HYV could've made up a slur for Aven's fictional race instead of letting Sparkle use a real one. I know this because I actively browse art on TikTok and come across these controversies as a side consequence 😂 I wanna hear all your thoughts now that I said it cos most of you seem confused where the racism/slur is. It's not in the EN dub this video is showing.
Edit: My opinion is that the reactions are overblown. However, it could've been more immersive if they made up a slur since HSR race logic doesn't resemble the real world's. Sparkle is downright a villain but I guess hearing a real slur directed to a fictional race that doesn't resemble the real race does sound kinda strange and detaching not in a moral, but rather in a storytelling perspective.
Honestly, the real life slur would hit harder. Thats the point.
One of the Penacony side quests has you go through the life of someone that killed millions.

I love honkai for being more free compared to genshin, which is much more restricted in terms of wording, death cutscenes, etc. IDC about the rest of the world. the thing is, the slavic word that Sigonian is based off of(tzigan) is not a slur like the g word. It can have negative connotations, but some romani people actually prefer to be called that way, and the roma that don't want to be called that do so because it's an exonym and not a name given by themselves. It's like when the Netherlands didn't want to be named Holland.

Hmm. It's true that she's being racist by that overgeneralization. Being a villain also doesn't mean you HAVE to be a racist. Her words are emotionally charged, probably influenced by past experiences, and therefore I see her as just any other person who would say something unacceptable because of their emotions. Does it make her good? No. Does it make it okay? Yes, because this is a story - you learn from stories, not harass actual people who only wrote and portrayed her. It is understandable to feel angry hearing what she said - that is the point of her characterization. Know your limits in your own actions though, or you'd be no better than her. Can we all agree on these?

In the contrary, I think it's worth appreciating the realism the game takes in its world-building. The possibilities for character identities and tropes are vast, and it makes for unique interactions.
Yes, Sparkle is racist, but that's about it. Letting that inconsequential fact affect how you play the game is unhealthy, esp. when there's a lot more acts in the game that we've come to desensitize (e.g., suicide, manipulation, murder, etc.).
A bad thing happens. Acknowledge that that bad thing is bad. Learn from it. Move on.

I have never played star rail, nor do I know the lore. However, in this cutscene Adventurine seems more like a villain due to his cocky way of talking
nuance is dead especially with gacha games but id like to hopefully add some to my take on this, its only my opinion but there is an art to creating societies that have disenfranchised people or stereotypes against them, thats world building. if you do it well then itll work but if its done poorly itll seem really off putting and just weird. i personally belive that so far it was worked in well (well storywise, not that being racist is good). ofc this is a fictional world and we need to remember that. good fiction always takes from reality and mirrors it. people who feel targeted by hanabi's comment obvi have a right to feel however they do but this IS fictional and if its based on real world struggles and is done well then there should be no complaints at least for those uninvolved in potential communities that were based on the sigonian identity (primarily people think they took inspiration from Romani people)
forgot to add, about her being a villain, id just like to say that seeing comments saying 'shes a villain who would've guessed a villain would be doing what a villain is supposed to do (being bad)' is kind of odd to me because racism is bad in a far different way than examples of just violence or corruption and i think that needs to be remembered, even when critiquing games but i haven't seen anyone in this situation (including myself) actually critique the content so that doesn't really apply here, but i just think it'd be good to keep in mind and i think those comments are pretty stupid because it's equating different types of bad that cannot be compared in the way they people are implying they are

looking back after 2.3: this scene is so pointless.
i mean i get it: she's a villain but the racism felt completely unnecessary to add in if she's insulting the IPC. why would sparkle insult aventurine's ethnicity if she knows the masked fools fought alongside penacony: who were oppressed from the IPC? if she knows about sigonia, wouldn't she also know about the bs aventurine went through? i'm sorry, but i still think this is dumb.
