Agree with some of the other comments...."took longer to watch the vid than to fix the truck", which is a good thing!!! Excellent explanation and very easy to accomplish and solved the problem..... Thanks for posting!!
This absolutely fixed my issue. I had nearly three turns! Feels so much better now. My mechanic said they felt it would be a very expensive fix. Thank you!!
Watching the video takes longer than fixing the problem. It helps to have a small mirror, because the two screws are above the wheel with the holes in it, so they can be hard to see. And you'll probably need a flashlight. Great video! Thanks!
Have been stressing about this for a month worrying about trans problems and everything els known I watched this and had it fixed in 5 minutes you are a absolute life saver! Thank you!
Thank you sir! Man I was expecting something so much worse and at A REALLY bad time for me. Popped my panel off and out falls the screw and the other was loose. Took a minute to put back together and now it functions properly again. T30 saved the day. Great video.
I'd like to add a few things: My vehicle - 2000 Ford Excursion, V10 engine. Exact same issue you documented in the video. 1. The screws are driven in towards the rear of the vehicle. Not obvious from the video. 2. There are two T30 torx screws just behind that slotted disk.. those are not the screws! 3. Move up and towards the front of the vehicle just a bit. They are actually in the open, and again, driven in towards the rear of the vehicle. My screws had to be loose by 0.100 inches! Crazy! How can this not be a recall issue? Those screws should have been locktited into place. They were not! Thanks for the video... this must be a common Ford Truck issue.
You’re me new deity my friend! I was stressing so hard over my ‘03 F-250 not shifting into park, now it’s fixed within 3 solid minutes. You were also dead-on about it being a T30 bit by the way. 😂
Thanks for posting this video I was able to fix my truck actually one of the boats at work this way all the way out but I found it and put it back in thank you
Great video. Solved my problem. I changed the $65 shifter cable first and it didn’t work watched this video and had it fixed in 5 min. Shouldn’t of costed anything. Thanks again
Thanks for the awesome video and explanation. I like your final comment, "git after it". I would but this is for a friends car so I'll git after it a little later.
I'm having the same issue except it's incredibly difficult to shift into neutral when the truck isn't started. I don't know if something is bent or what but it's driving me crazy.
Let me ask you I noticed the back of the screw the housing it screws into like a metal socket. Mine was cracked and I also noticed my screw my 30 T 30 screw is stripped. Where can I order a new one housing and screw
hey do you have any advice for ignition not turning over?? i dont know how to explain it to you... it just turns really easy and loose like turning a key in a broken lock or something. and when i turn the truck off the lights on the dash and the radio stay on even with the key out... can you please help in any way? i already had the same problem as your one video on how to tighten the shifting linkage or w.e and i did exactly what you showed to do. and now i have this problem and i dont want to put in garage and end up paying crap load of money if its something i can do myself
What is it bolted into because I can go in every gear but I can’t go into neutral reverse or park I have to go under my dash and grab the bracket and do in from down there
Does anyone know where I can get a replacement screw? One of them broke off and I need a replacement. I just need to know what kind of screw it is. I can figure out where to find it if I know?
Would this also prevent the truck from rolling when in park it seems like it’s not grabbing and will just roll I’ll have to back up and go forward few times till it catches and mine also won’t start sometimes when in park have to put it in neutral
Hey you guys can anyone help? My father is almost in his 70s working physical labor and he is the most stubborn man I know. However he's asked me for help with something I have no clue about. He has a 2001 e350 Ford Econoline super duty.5.4 liter. He said it won't go into drive. Only Park, Reverse and Neutral work. Anyone?
@@innocuous_name7212 the truck will start in park or neutral so I don't think it's safety switch. Just don't have enough shifter to get in first gear. I suspect cable adjustment at tranny is needed.. no sure
Mine completely broke in half on the threaded side on the steering column. I started the truck put it in reverse then the torx screw and half the threads hit my foot. FML
@@chasekellogg9589 The shift linkage torx screw loosens up and backed out. It eventually had to much play and mine snapped the nut in half that the torx screw threads into so when I felt something hit my foot it was the nut that broke in half.
Couldn't sleep so I looked up my 2002 f250 problem, finished watching video at 2:21 am, walking into house at 2:32 am with a fixed truck! Thanks man!

Awesome video. My wife feels safe driving my truck again! We couldn’t put it in park!
Thanx Dude.
I subscribed right away as I just picked up a 2002 7.3 with this issue. The guy thought it was Motor/Tranny mounts.
Not.
You’re my hero.
Put the brake on, place truck in neutral (so u can get at it better) and use a t30. I used a screwdriver t30. - worked perfect. Thx for the video!
Thanks, I looked everywhere for this. Great job.
Awesome video, fixed my issues with the truck thanks for the post 👍
Thank you. I have been trying to figure that out for a while now. Works like a champ. 😊

It sounds like you may need to replace your ignition module.
This was awesome! Thanks for the video man, saved me!

Yes. This could very likely be the solution to your problem.

Thanks worked like a charm!

SOS my f explore 2001. Won't shift. Into park. What I need to do
What if it won’t catch gears no forward or reverse just rolls ?
This procedure may work for that also.
Thank you

They're called Torx bits
That didn't fix problem
I am sorry to hear that. Depending on your symptoms, you may try checking your neutral safety switch.
What if the middle pin in between those bolts is broken and falls out how do I replace that pls any help would be greatly appreciated
You will have to order a new shift tube and replace the broken one.
Thanks
