    If nothing else, i at least want Sajam to be recognized for everything he's put into for the Sajam Slam. A huge event like that, bringing in streamers, both large and small, into the limelight to play some good ass fighting games. I think that deserves some kind of award on it's own

    For two years solid, I've been saying that the Streamer Awards do an absolutely horrible job of choosing clips. The clips chosen are not representative of the types of content for which the channels are known. Even on an entertainment level, they fail because so many rely on out of context knowledge to know what is happening in the clip.

    • @stevenmark4407
      @stevenmark4407 18 дней назад +3

      100% agree. They pick some that are very boring, uninteresting, or isn’t the norm of what the streamer does.

    that vtuber category was a really hard choice for me, but I ended up voting for Doki for how she managed to really pull herself out of a shitty situation and thrive in just a matter of months. Hers is *the* success story of Vtubing this year, I think.

    I'm in the same camp as Geega - I've kinda grown to hate "inspiring" speeches, because I just want hard facts/information. I know they work for a lot of people, and that's awesome for them, it makes sense why people give them, but I'd prefer to just read the orator's note cards/bullet points.

    Thor’s unique thing could be his tts queue system and how he treats his community. With the ads and all.

  • @Rodoet001
    @Rodoet001 11 дней назад +1

    I don't know, I'm not too big of a fan that Thor ended up nominated. Ever since he showed where his values lies with the whole game preservation movement and his absolutely childish and overly hostile behaviour towards both creators, gamers, and other developers that criticised his takes I just get this bad taste in my mouth every time I see him. Doesn't help that most of his takes on that subject where bad and in some cases straight up dishonest.
    Dude let the mask slip and it turns out he isn't the feel-good "just want to help" guy we thought. Shit, even his "10 years in the game industry" turned out to be dishonest. And ever since I've noticed he's let it slip more and more.

    She's unaware of anything Speed's done. To say Kai is the one bringing and showing and introducing people to streamers outside the streamer bubble when it's Speed doing that WORLDWIDE on a way larger scale. What's ironic is Speed is completely outside the usual streamer bubble of twitch, so much so that she's not even aware of him doing things because he actually does things to introduce non English speakers including some random old man in a street of Philippines to it.

    • @4F0xSake
      @4F0xSake 18 дней назад +2

      Thing for me is, and I know Speed has changed MASSIVELY in the last year, but if you've been on the internet for a while, and weren't a teenager at the time, then Speed's early career just puts a lot of people off him. For years he was literally a kid and he acted like it, as well as saying some reallllyyy dumb shit and it takes a while to change that impression.

    • @aaaamxr
      @aaaamxr 18 дней назад

      @@4F0xSake See this is that American mentality at play again. The mentality to never accept the change of a person, despite Speed transitioning from his 16 year old age to 19 (which by the way, for a lot of people is a phase where their mentalities change a LOT and they gain maturity especially for someone as famous as speed who has finally now started to get used to the fame and the conditions it brings with it).
      The thing is, you go outside the US and you'd see Speed being crowded by so many South East Asian people who truly couldn't give a fuck about the things he's said 3 years in the past. They're not gonna let some words he uttered when he was literally the 'edgy 16 year old' be something that defines him 3 years later when he's clearly out there spreading entertainment and good vibes amongst people. This is the cancel culture that rotted the Twitch scene. People don't look at streamers like humans anymore, and judge them for every single action, despite being no good themselves.
      Let's take the Asmongold situation. To say I was filled with contempt at the vile comments he made about Palestinians would be saying it lightly. I was angered by it it and I was completely against it.
      And yet, when he released the apology video? I could sense the genuineness in it. I could tell that he isn't just making the video to lessen the feedback he's been getting, but because he genuinely feels he said 'bad' things and is ashamed of it. While I still don't forgive him, especially until I see actions (which he's said he'll show) from him that reflects it, I've still managed to reduce much of my contempt towards him within a week.
      But Speed still gets shit on his words 3 years later, imagine that happening to you. While I get that it's an everyday active lesson for him to not go that path again, it must still suck to be judged for something like that.

    The whole "they deserve to win" train of thought is due to people being given participation trophies for everything. No one deserves anything for the bare minimum or just showing up. It's people that go above and beyond that "deserve" to win. Because they earned that win.

    • @SketchyClipper
      @SketchyClipper 19 дней назад +25

      Did you just throw shade on the phrase "deserve to win" and then immediately go on a rant about deserved wins? Pick a lane.

      @@SketchyClipper Wasn't the OP straight up agreeing with what geega was saying at 22:41? And he DID pick a lane, namely that people that deserve to win are those who have worked for it and achieved it, not those who just "didn't get any"
      Maybe I'm missing something, but idk why OP is getting ratio-d this much

    • @Decamix300
      @Decamix300 19 дней назад +1

      @@d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d Well because in the second half of their comment OP litterally made his own criteria (that isn't performance) for deserving a win, in their case : "people that go above and beyond".
      Now this isn't a bad criteria, but the truth is while those people often end up being winners, sometimes wins aren't earned through work, being smart about rules when in a competition or being a once in a generation talent that doesn't need to work as hard doesn't match that criteria for example but can be enough to win. Being lucky works as well.
      This all depends on the circumstances of the win, and I don't even think this was hypocrite of them but they are effectively defending two sides of the argument at once.

    • @d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d
      @d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d 18 дней назад

      @@Decamix300 I see. My assumption was that they didn't intend to say that only those who worked hard deserve to win, but rather that when they do it means that they definitely earned it
      Could be that they did, don't think I can know that for sure
