    My Dad died from cancer in 1987. The last time I ever saw him laugh, he was laughing at Alf. Thank you all for the hard work and effort you put into each and every episode. And for one last fond memory of my dad, laughing.

      I had no idea he died. That's crazy. I was born in 84 so I watched this all the time as a kid. Talk about a show being much more popular than it should've ever been. A show like this would never work in today's world. Thats why ill always love the 80s/early 90s

    I'm from Argentina. Let me tell you, Alf was a very, very successful series here. Yesterday, I learned that Benji passed away, and it was shocking to me. Each time I watch this series, it brings back very beautiful memories of my childhood. It's a pity they canceled the series; they could have filmed one or two more seasons.
    I came here because I wanted to know how the real voices of the characters sound. It's always a very nice experience watching Alf.
    Warmest regards from Argentina to all of you who still enjoy this beautiful series.

I somehow feel that Alf is better written than most sitcoms these days. All the characters are true to life, making them relatable. Alf himself is out of ordinary but then everything else isn't, but still funny and a little touching. Kate was completely against keeping Alf (I would too). She stood up to protect him later (I would too) after learning that he could be in danger if they turned him in. But the show immediately turns to Alf-Lucky jokes if it gets too touchy to balance things off. Perhaps this applies only to the pilot episode but I like what I see so far.

    I was in 5th grade in elementary school when this tv show started and our English teacher brought a book that had the addresses you could write to for tons of movie and tv stars, sports legends and musicians. She told us to pick any 2 stars and write a letter to them because she was trying to teach us grammar, spelling and stuff like that. When our letters were finished, she mailed all of the letters out. I wrote to ALF (Paul Fusco) and Wesley Crusher (Wil Wheaton). About a month after the letters were sent we all began getting response letters and in my ALF response i received an autographed picture, stickers a few ALF comic books and a thank you letter.

    We all know that ALF was done both through human in costume and an animatronic puppet. It is often very easy to tell which is which by several factors. Number one, animatronic puppet didn't have any legs as it was put on hidraulics with just its chest and head seen on screen. So, every time ALF's body is seen in its entirety, it is actually a human, Hungarian actor Michu Meszaros in ALF costume. Besides that, the heads of puppet and costume are very noticably different. For example, puppet's head is noticably alot bigger than that of the costume. Not to mention that the shade of brown fure on ALF changes very often since puppet and costume did not have same color. And other such small details.

    • @miroslavtomic7038
      @miroslavtomic7038 4 месяца назад +1

      Also there were at least two known ALF puppets that were used, which were not exactly identical and it was often very easy to tell them apart even in the same scene.

    It was such an crazy idea for a TV show that it just had to work out... And it did. Max Wright was well known throughout his life for his very vocal opposition to working on this show. However, in the years leading to his death in 2019, he stated that, despite never changing his mind about hating working on this show, he got a huge personal satisfaction from receiving tons of fanmail telling him how much joy the show brought to so many people all over the world.

    Great show, especially if you were a kid at the time. It was fun to watch and as a young kid it made me wonder if a real alien could be anything like this or even be able to understand what they were watching. Probably not. But fact is usually stranger than fiction so who knows lol. Somewhere in a parallel universe there's Alf running around chasing after a cat.

    Classic TV 1980s sitcom. I remember watching this series as a young man. Anyone interested in seeing ALF in a cameo watch an episode of Mister Robot when Eliot hallucinates that he is back in the 1980s. The episode is a parody of all sitcoms from the 1980s. Alf is driving a car and runs down someone.
