Voices of Music is one of the few bright spots remaining in a world gone mad. High culture has been reduced to the rubble of reality TV shows. Someone has to preserve the greatest achieved in former ages, and Voices of Music does just that. I've donated money to them twice before and intend to do so again when I'm able.

I used to ornament the 1st mvt of Op. 5, No. 1 but these days I'm finding I love the less-is-more approach with that mvt.

Thank you for bringing us such an informative video. Both of you explained the ideas of ornamentation in an easy and down to earth manner which was genuinely stimulating and refreshing. Of course, the music was wonderful too. I hope you will offer more videos like this one; they make the music so much more accessible.

Ornamentation is not the same as improvisation. Ornamentation may be done extemporaneously but it is still embellishing something that was already there. Improvisers create something out of their imagination.

By defining these terms, we create an ornament in the musical lexicon.

If improvising is creating from the imagination wouldn’t the imagination play a role when embellishing as well?
