Geminiani’s very free transcriptions of Corelli’s Opus 5 violin sonatas along with Charles Avison’s ones based on Scarlatti sonatas are two of the finest sets of these type of works as both were turned into magnificent sets of concerti grossi worthy of being programmed with the two sets by Corelli and Handel (both Opus 6) which are the benchmark for the Baroque string concerto grosso.
Classical music works in a different way. Apparently it stimulates a different part of the brain to popular, folk, jazz and other types of music. For those of us, unfortunately a lucky few, who can appreciate it, it is pure luxury and class. It's just a pity we are so few
I heard several totally wrong notes the second movement of op5 no9 sonata in A major. Someone can explain this to me? 8th and 9th bar and the same melody place.
"To play a wrong note is insignificant; to play without passion is inexcusable!" - Ludwig van Beethoven Besides, i'm not sure what you mean. Bars 8 and 9 are around 1:26:24. I don't hear any major mistake. Keep in mind the score is written with figured bass, so the accompanists have a lot of freedom in choosing which notes to play.
The English Google translate here is horrendous: stradella has been translated as road! Subsequent note: it had been fixed - [Alessandro] Stradella 1643-1682.
Well thank you for listening to "this stuff" and perhaps playing it. For anyone who can hear it it is pure luxury for the ears, mind and heart. I'm not being condescending, someone told me classical music stimulates a different part of the brain to other music. I can assure you if that happens the experience is wonderful. However three of my favourite pieces are Fast Car by Tracy Chapman, All I Wanna Do by Sheryl Crow and Jokerman by Bob Dylan. So not stuck in classical and listen to new music every day
There are some artists who say this a more natural frequency for our ears... I've once heard a same piece of music played with the two different tunings... Amazingly enough it really sounded me to be a little and subtle better... I really don't know why. B. regards, from Brazil.
They tune to that due to probably having gut string instruments which can't be tuned to 440Hz. 440 is a pretty new standard tuning, not many people used it even up until they made it the standard.
I got to thinking that this Corelli fellow looks an awful lot like Vivaldi, they lived in the same time period, their music sounds similar with their preference for violin, and they look and dress a lot alike. Could it be the same guy? What is going on here?
Of course, not🤦🏻♀️ Different guys. Different places - Ravenna& Rome (Corelli) and Venice (Vivaldi). Different lives. Different faces)) and temperament
@@marinav.4440 The original comment was presumably a deliberate wind-up it’s so ridiculous. In addition to your reply: Corelli 1653-1713 Vivaldi 1678-1741 Plus of course, they sound completely different.

Vivaldi n Corelli very similar. But the former was I think very extravaganza and deep.
Completely wrong on almost every count (though Vivaldi’s Opus 4 is titled ‘La stravaganza’).
A = 392Hz? That's interesting!

I've read that Verdi placed A at 432Hz for opera singing.
Mozart placed A at 430Hz
