- President Obama surprised Vice President Joe Biden with the nation’s highest civilian honor - the Presidential Medal of Freedom - at a tribute event at the White House this afternoon. The event itself, let alone the award, was kept secret from the the vice president.
Biden was very emotional throughout the event, wiping away tears almost constantly as the president made a speech about why he believes Biden is “the finest vice president” in U.S. history. “This also gives the internet one last chance to talk about our bromance,” Obama joked as he began the event. Obama and Biden continue to demonstrate a high level of integrity, values, elegance and from-the-heart camaraderie and humour. It would be comforting to know that this honorable behaviour will continue with the new administration that begins on January 20th. But I fear it will not.

His speech afterwards is filled with him praising all those in his life that he credits with any achievement. He is exactly who would be able to heal the deep wounds America has endured. Any person I come across online that doubts his ability or honesty I ask them to watch these moments to gain a perspective that Trump has tried to rewrite.
This started as a medal of freedom bestowed upon a great man. Because of Joe Biden's amazing humility and character, it ended up as a tribute to a great president. Just compare these two wonderful patriotic men to the filth we have in office today. I hope Joe runs and wins in 2020. We will then have a man of strength, courage and wisdom leading us again!

Watching this now with his title now "President Elect". We need this man in the White House to restore the humanity. He wasn't my first choice for President, but I think he's a good man.
It seemed to me that Mr. Biden was speaking extemporaneously in his speech. If that is true, then it is all the more moving. He spoke from his heart, and there is no doubt that these two extraordinary men and their families share a genuine bond.
