Awesome tutorial video, guys. Thanks. I'm curious, could you have gotten the job done without removing that upper idler pulley?

The upper idler pulley has nothing to do with the power steering pump, but when you have the serpentine belt off, it’s cheap insurance to do that idler at the same time. I’ve seen the bearing fail on those idlers with little notice. Just pre-emptive Mtce to do it when you can (say 80 - 100 kmiles).

My buddy did mine, i was right there...helped with install, looked good. 4 days later i noticed steering whining and hard steering, i pulled over n popped my hood, had a pinhole leak in my plastic jacket of my radiator *original part since 1998) and power steering fluid everywhere..made it back home (about a mile and a half) and she's been sitting ever since.
Is there any reason why that happened that you know of?
I havent taken her apart yet to check the new pump, lines/threads/o rings, to see if theres any damage to the new parts. (The ps fluid gushed down on my brand new alternator I put in the same day, gonna use electric parts cleaner and clean it up.)
My guess is air cavitation, air in the system that never got out, or ?
New ps lines and o rings were installed @ the same time. Should i check n refill, after i get my radiator and stuff put in..a leak test first before i yank it back out (it's just a lil pain on the a#$ with that press fit pulley takes a minute 😡)
    Any help would be appreciated.
Everything looked good, I never had this happen before with power steering fluid before.
My F Body needs some help.

Damn that sucks. I am about to knock mine out this weekend.
Hopefully all goes well in your troubleshooting. Fill it up to proper level and turn that steering wheel left and right. Cap off, purge that air out of the system. it might be a simple fix. Check for any noticeable leaks. I guess I am just starting the obvious. Good luck to you

@@bgchile2002 it’s pre-emptive Mtce. You’re in there and the idler is cheap. You’ll curse when that bearing fails later and you say “man, wish I did that pulley at the same time as the steering pump.”
