Hey Samuel, it’s me, the guy from this video from 10 years ago. First off, congratulations on your academic achievement! I’m sure you, unlike me, worked very hard to be top of your graduating class. Secondly of all I want you to know that I believe in you. I believe you will get up there and - with the handful of minutes that are your reward for years of academic toil and dedication - you will say what you feel is the most important message you have to deliver. And even if you don’t get a single laugh, the people who love you will be thrilled to celebrate you and will remember the moment forever. Much like my mom did, as she posted your comment on her Facebook and tagged me in it. I guess she still has the tab with this video open a decade later. And if you want to crib a joke or two, you can take the bad ones (the Jimmy Carter joke didn’t land at all so if you can make it work you’ve surpassed me).
