It seems that baby knows to stay down when the wind blows like that. He's still small enough to be able to hunker down into the bowl and still eat. Jackie must have been very hungry the way she was taking food from Shadow. It was so sweet to see Shadow feeding the baby, blessed my heart. Thanks, Cali.

Idk...e19 was almost blown out of their nest last Saturday. Crazy because he's a big eaglet and still got carried by the wind.

You can see where Jackie and Shadow have placed themselves they are protecting their baby from the wind . These winds are natural in CA. They are scary but I think Jackie and Shadow know how to hold on

It amazes me that the nest stays intact during all that wind. I guess when J & S were spending so much time moving the sticks from one place to another and arranging them so carefully, they knew what they were doing. 🦅❤️

I like it when both parents are in the nest! Jackie seemed to be very hungry tho, and it's hard to talk with a mouth full of fish. She kind of sounded like a song bird here - small trilling vocalizations, as opposed to her normal screeching. Maybe she was happy to eat? Or for Shadow's company? lols, doubtful! Shadow behaved beautifully and baby is still small enough to hunker down in the nest bowl, thank goodness. That wind at this nest is so fierce...it makes me really nervous! Thanks for the share

Oh my goodness, it's a wonder those high wind gusts don't blow the baby eaglet up and right out of the nest! but thanx to Mama & Papa being right there, the baby's being shielded, thank heavens.

Wow what a very Big Bear windy day! Lots of feathers fluffing up in the wind! Beautiful to watch,nature,Jackie,Shadow and the baby,yet at times scary ,holding ones’ breath! Very glad that parents are there protecting little one,and little one is growing up so quickly. 😳 thought we would see a repeat of E19 being picked up by the wind gust (Harriet & M15 nest) thankfully his dad was there to catch him from falling out. This wind sure is scary. Thanks for another glimpse Cali - hope shadow got his crop full today as he worked so hard for their nourishment. ❤️💕

In 2 weeks time, i have seen 1 adult eagle (clive) flipped over in his nest from the winds and yesterday an eaglet from another nest was flipped, if the adult wasn't there , he would have gone clean over the edge of the nest. what is going on with the winds ??????? I pray to GOD this nest holds and doesn't come down

Jackie seems like she is in kind of a bad mood around 17 on? Got a piece of nest grass stuck in her beak which didn't help. She looked super hungry, while Shadow systematically got around the other side & fed lil one she kept going for those bits too!

Sometimes I find myself telling Jackie to be better when watching feedings! Jackie either seems to give teeny tiny bites or way too big bites! I know the chick is doing well and have seen a full crop on him so I shouldn’t worry!

No, it's not expected to hatch at this point it's been too long. It will either be eaten when the parents realize that it's not hatching or breakdown and become part of the nest.

I asked the same thing, it has been too long now for it to hatch.

@@jackiereamy4871 I wondered the same thing last year when one egg never hatched. It eventually just became part of the nest so I expect the same thing will happen this year. It will break down and just get buried in the nest.
@@jackiereamy4871 They either become trampled and part of the nest or used for food once the parents are certain it won’t be hatching. More likely it will just break down and be part of the nest.
@@jackiereamy4871 it just sits there, finally dissolved back into the nest. Jackie sat on this egg last year for over 60 days, then she finally gave up and the ravens came and took it.
