Bandai can potentially reprint anything at any time. They'll reprint 40-50 year old model kits using the original moulds and packaging design if an anime hits an anniversary or there's some event for instance. They care not for the scalper or the investor.

The problem is the demand might not be there. Oh, there is some demand. But the demand we are seeing is INCREDIBLY inflated due to idiots like Rudy scooping up loads of boxes cause they only see money. So we are seeing a skewed demand right now, hence why boxes are double or more MSRP. But reprinting for that demand is still a good thing cause it might flush them right back out just like FaB did. So yes, reprints are actually good in almost every scenario regardless of what BS Rudy wants to claim.

You can be a smartass all you like but Digimon and other card games that got ruined by Bandai wasn't because they printed too much stock. One Piece was underprinted from the start ON PURPOSE as part of this common tactic to hype up and build up their products and also to help sellers like you to make more money on their card games with less stock. I know a local seller personally and they love this, getting to sell less stock for more profit since one piece products are bought at double and triple their normal price. You do the usual though of trying to confuse viewers with nonsense information with other random jibberish for added effect.

Will be interesting to see if they go low print run or try to go the Pokemon route yet again and bank on the IP to carry the product.
I agree they need more product to actually attract a player base so we don't end up with another Metazoo but they tend to overdo it just to scrape as much as they can short term and move on to the next IP.

Now I'm new to the TCG hobby, but I'll throw my two cents in. Isn't One Piece a new card game that needs to grow their player base? And to grow a player base you need to meet demands and also likely reprint for new players. Correct me if I'm wrong but my understanding is that TCG's should solidify a player base first in priority which would then lead to a secondary market that opens up more demand and the door for investors. Isn't pleasing investors first before solidifying a core player base is like putting the cart before the horse? I need to Wiki the history of Bandai's One Piece.

    • @frankcastle9104

Fan base will always follow one piece seeing that it didn’t start from cards one piece has a huge monumental dedicated fan base since the 90s due to the manga and anime which is what one piece is first and the anime and manga is still going, Card game 2nd.

@@frankcastle9104 That's all well and good but when the manga ends there needs to be something to carry forward. A good TCG that people actually enjoy playing is a huge asset. A good game will draw people into the IP due to social gravity of a healthy community.

    • @Sacrilege83
      @Sacrilege83 8 месяцев назад

@@frankcastle9104 well Google showed me that this recent card game came in 2022. But like you said, the property has an already built in fanbase. So ideally investors don't need to rely on a healthy player base when there's a long standing fanbase in which a portion would collect cards. Now my follow up question would be why would Bandai care about appeasing investors so that they can make money on the secondary market when they have a game they're trying to solidify?
In the end I agree with Rudy that Bandai should take it easy and not shoot its load off because Rome wasn't built in a day and Magic The Gathering didn't get its peak client base over a year. @vulcanh254 8 месяцев назад

@@jared3622300-500$ is pretty normal, you guys are so weak. 😂
Also what matters is not the price. A 200$ deck that rotates quickly and loses all its value is worse than a 1000$ edh / modern deck that keeps being relevant for decades (and holds value). This is something all players realize at some point. Standard is more expensive than "expensive formats" because you need to constantly build temporary decks that rotate and become irrelevant / worth nothing. This is the primary reason why players eventually move from standard to modern, pioneer or edh. Because players value their cards retaining value. That's just true.
So the thing you don't want to recognize is that the players who spent 500$ on a tier 1 deck that is now worth 50$ feel scammed and insulted and many of them might quit the game because of it. Lots players quit yu gi oh for MTG because magic had a more stable economy. They were tired of getting scammed: they had to buy the new hot rare that was 40-60$ but then a few months later it got reprinted and crashed to 25 cents. If you get scammed like that enough times you'll also stop playing or spending money.
See right now you guys are at this baby stage where you have no real experience with TCGs. But at some point you'll buy a playset of 50-60$ cards and it's gonna suck big time when it gets banned or reprinted at common. Then you'll understand why many players are also against reprinting too much and too quickly like Bandai does. You'll understand the importance of cards retaining and gaining value and how it affects the affordability of the game. If your 30$ card stays 30$, it means you're always able to trade it for a couple of 15$ cards or a different 30$ card. But if your 30$ card is now 50 cents, you lost that ability and are now 30$ poorer as a player. It's a really simple concept but too many people don't get it. If your player collection keeps losing value the game will become less affordable, you'll be forced to spend real money more often while you had the ability to just trade the cards you bought before. So you actually want player collections to have value because otherwise you kill trading, drafting and make the game too expensive to keep up with.

Hopefully Bandai understands that there is a way to reprint this and have be amazingly successful on all ends, but Bandai has unfortunately proven time and time again that they can make great card games, but cannot manage the card game market.

Unfortunately/fortunately depending on your stance on the blue (pre errata boxes) pretty much 0% chance they would do that since those cards are mistranslated and the whole point of the newer versions is so that they could update the wording to be more clear. Even if they did blue bottoms they wouldn’t change the cards updated text to match that of older text.

Ofc they should reprint boxes of all sets for everyone, however if they’re having hard enough time printing a CURRENT set 05 and the next set 06, they should focus on those before working on old product. If they kept printing 05 it wouldn’t be as expensive as it is.

I get that there are plenty of collectible cards, but they need reprints for people to actually play the game instead of giving Timmy another alt art nami. The point being, the starter decks that msrp for 10$ are up to double, triple, sometimes 15x price. For basic cards built to get you into the game. Sure they will always have a collector's value sealed but this is a one year card game with so much demand that people can't properly play the game yet imo. You're saying that reprints are bad for the long term investment of the game, but it's 2024 Rudy, this game only has one format and the top deck from US National Championship is 400 bucks just like it would be for mtg standard or yu-gi-oh. I agree that there's a limit though, there's no reason for them to overprint the old sets to dirt, but going forward they need to repair their system to adhere closer to msrp for the first year of a set's release. MTG and Yu-Gi-Oh aren't failures for having plenty of stock available on release, it's important that the general public buy product, and for investors there's still modern sets that go up in price over time. The current environment of the game is great for scalpers, questionable for investors, and a failure for the players. I think it's perfectly fine for the manga op-01 Shanks to be 2k+ but it's bad for the normal secret to be 100/playset with packs at 32. It's terrible for the next set to already be pre-ordering at 2x msrp.
tldr: my opinion is they need to print more so they get as many people playing the game as they can, because that is what will hold the market strong. Maybe make some more pallets of op-1 and 02, but seriously double the print order for op-07

If they run the game like a Gacha game where sets get a reprint every 1-2 years then they may have a solid game on their hand until One Piece stops being mainstream like DBZ. The unfortunate thing is that the game is tied to the Anime so it may potentially crumble 5-10 years after the anime stops. Thankfully that's at least some time away but it still adds risk to LGS's that buy cards as a long term 20-30 year investment plan.

If the one piece card game has true longevity it does not matter how much volume the reprint introduces to the market. A TCG/CCG is carried by the players and collectors who actually have an organic interest in the game. The speculators are a consequence of the secondary market and do not bring long-term success to a TCG. If a product is still in standard rotation it should be reprinted if demand is there, upsetting the speculators is of no consequence long-term.

Not because I don't like the set, but because most people like the set as much as I do or more. I will wait for a better deal. If that day never comes that's fine by me. I am definitely holding my breath, right now, waiting for the other shoe to drop. They could bury this game like Dragon Ball, or they could alleviate some frustration and make it more sustainable in the long run. It all depends on how much they reprint, what they reprint, and how it affects the printing of newer products. Logically they have to cut printing on something to make room for the reprints. The entire reason why they haven't done reprints so far is printing capacity. The slashes on O6/07 pre-orders to accommodate this are not a good sign. What is the point of reprinting full boxes of mainly bulk to address availability of very few cards, really, if it has the side effect of making the new sets with the meta-relevant cards even less available and in much bigger need of more printing? Seriously, there are less than a handful of relevant cards in each set, and there are just as many in the starter decks to need reprinting, but they're doing full reprints of the entire set? That is wild. Especially considering some of the cards are already getting alt art reprints, albeit in expensive products, and their availability should therefore increase. People who feel the insatiable need to open sealed product don't care much for which product it is. If they had the ability to increase printing, then they should have done a reprint set with the key cards and just printed more of the upcoming product.
