Consistency, and execution of its story, by far the best ive seen, (edit: by this i mean the experience IN The moment as yoyr watching.. thats what it achieves best) and ive watched many anime just cause people told me to, so id see if it was truly "better" for me, since people always say how "simple & repetitive" ds's story is, which i fully disagree with its very ditingushable from every other show ive ever seen. (only one i havent yet is hunter x hunter, just cause its long, and i wanna watch it over a holiday in one go like i did with black clover) edit: if your gonna reply give me some examples of similar shows, keep in mind ive probably seen it unless its over 100eps in which case ive only seen black clover, and i still need to finish yu yu hakesho and im never touching one piece, tho i will watch all of naruto evetually i just like watching series in their entirety, full chronological timeline. so thats why ive only seen till ep 12 of naruto so far
One thing you do better than other Anime channels as host Mahis. Is make me love DS more than I already do with each new video. Cannot wait for The Swordsmith Village Arc! Along with your carefully crafted response. Congratulations on the increase in new subscribers, as you are deserving of at least 200K+ by now. I feel privileged to be amongst your fist few thousand Sub's. Keep up the amazing work, as you have gotta be a Hashira level reviewer/critic imo by now. Wishing you every success going forward!
Oftentimes I give UFOTABLE ALL the praise and credit their Brilliant team deserves. I truly want to see the studio get approached by Lucasfilm to give us a Star Wars Visions short. I mean imagine Demon Slayer but with lightsabers? I believe it would be much like your taste of music Mahis. By grabbing Star Wars Fanboy's by the balls and not let go until they are also fans of DS. One thing you already stated in a previous video and I agree 111% that UFOTABLE does better when compared to other Anime. Is the attention to detail concerning characters hands and how they are drawn. Characters hard work as they train shows, the characters hands... are the receipts of such hard work with hands being incredibly difficult to animate. A brilliant observation that I share but makes me wonder? Did Tengen bury his hand at the Uzui family burial shrine? If I were him I'd be burying my bone in all three of his wives. Gotta replenish the Corps Ranks after all.
I think Tanjiro explained it best when giyuu stepped on Rui, “I will always cut down any demon without hesitation, but I will never step on them because they were once human” I’m paraphrasing
Pretty sure that’s the Buddhist take of Hell. They do wrong in life, spend time in repentance and punishment in Hell, and then re-enter the cycle of reincarnation once they’ve paid their due to try again.
@@mahistvnd he actively shifted forms to give spider mom a peaceful death. I love so much how he goes into the trope of non killing shonen protagonist but also recognizes that some people are beyond redemption
I absolutely love how the difference in power among demons and demon slayers is portrayed. For example after Tanjiro almost killed Rui but failed and Giyu just WALKS up to Rui's face and decapitates him in a split-second.
What about the upper moon demon which is going to be killed by tanjiro alone in S3 which wasn't killed for centuries by many powerful hashiras but he suddenly comes and boom kills the upper moon like it was an ordinary demon
Tanjiro did not decapitate daki infact daki is the lowest upper moon (upper moon 6) and the reason she was easily decapitated by uzui was because she was the weaker part of upper 6 (other being gyutarou) gyutaro is the 90% power of upper rank 6 if gyutarou wasn't with daki she would most likely be a lower rank and with the power she got with her other part of her self she would still be only the 20% of upper rank 6 also the hashira of the Taisho era (the era where tanjiro is in right now) is said to be even stronger than the first generation of the hashira(used to be strongest hashiras) Hopefully that explains it
when it comes to female demon Slayer characters, one other thing that I like about them is that they don't have the annoying trope of punching the MC whenever they are flustered or even slightly angry. Kanao did kick Tanjiro in the head but since he was protecting a demon whom she was ordered to kill they were technically enemies at that point. Edit: Mom, I am famous!
that's because...none of them act like hormonal teenagers despite being hormonal teenagers who are super active which makes them even more hormonal. No one loses control of their emotions and deels with the awkwardness of youth because...well their written to be unrealistic. (the trope is also unrealistic exaggeration, but the thing it exaggerates is real.)
@@TheThebigice we only have like 6 relevant female character. Nezuko is in no situation to play romance, Kanao is kinda suffering some trauma here and need time to healing, she isn't a normal teenage girl, and not everyone act arkward in front of a crush. Aoi love no one at this point, no reason to be arkward and edgy, she has patients to treat. Shinobu has some interested in Giyu but she is an adult and not the kind to feel shy and arkward. Mitsuru, yeah she is a arkward girl in love ok. And the you have Tamayo :) a demon live for hundred years and already married.
I personally love how the girls are shown to have the option to wear either skirt or pants and how most choose pants it annoys me to no end when an anime has some sort of military group and the girls are wearing tiny skrits with nothing underneath I also love how they tie their hair up like anyone with long hair would do while fighting I hate that troop of where the female character goes running into battle and let's their hair down
To note, in reactions for episode 10, season 2; no one wants to note the fact that, even though Tanjiro could relate and empathize with daki and gyutaro, he still went through on killing them But no, people just dogged tanjiro for realizing how the siblings were similar to him and nezuko, and I didn't see anyone recognize the fact that he still finished the fight
People are crazy, the whole team of 4 fighting those two with their lives, how are they not going to finish the job?, they can't even guarantee they'll be alive by the end of the day, so they HAVE to at least take down Muzan's strongest demons, otherwise what are they dying for?, for nothing?, as Ubuyashiki said, after centuries, the situation FINALLY CHANGED, an upper moon was FINALLY defeated, that's what they're fighting and dying for, not to get soft in the end and risk getting killed.
Yeah! Being able to empathize with someone doesnt automatically forgive what they did/do. Yknow in kids shows when the bully goes “but my parents dont care about me” and the protag instantly forgives them? Its the opposite of that
I like how they don’t make you think that the hashiras are overpowered and will never lose against an upper moon. Instead they are portrayed as weaker to some which stops plot armor and you know for sure that they may not survive.
@@mahistv Plot armor protects whoever the author wants to protect. Jesus Christ, nobody would give 2 flying fucks about Demon Slayer if it wasn't for Ufotable upping the Art of the Manga like Murata does to ONE. Story mediocre, Characters subpar apart from some sidecharacters, the Mystery utter unexplained dogshit and absolute copout from the mangaka just to give some form of goal. DS is only at the Anime Awards because of Ufotable, let's not delude ourselfes here.
@@gehtdichnichtsan2418 Never heared the take that people are only interested in DS because the anime is made by Ufotable😂😂😂Most stupid take I ever heared😂
The thing about DS is it has a clear goal: defeating muzan, and the author never extended the story beyond that, it is easy to follow with just enough twists. It is well written in the sense that you know the motivations of the characters and they have personalities that make them appear appealing to the audience. Over all, DS is an enjoyable ride, it doesn't need to have a complicated narrative whatsoever...
@@mahistv i love it as well, but sadly because of this simplicity that people are calling the story MID and is only carried by good animation, which is just sad 🥲
@WeirdDude It is quite literal the only reason why DS became so popular, lets not delude ourselves and act as if the Manga had this phenomenal art Ufotable gave to the Anime. I read the Manga years befor an Anime studio picked it up, its ugly especially in the first 100 chapters. The characters are subpar apart from some great side characters, the story is as mediocre as it can get, the mystery was absolutely dogshit and the mangaka completely coped out from thinking about any reasoning at all. Or are you really telling me some fucking rando doctor in the buttfuck of nowhere manifested some magical demonizer juice, ONCE, which he gave to Muzan, peaced out, was never seen again, never did it to anyone else and thats everything to it. Like you for real? Also the ending, jesus christ, its okay at best and the weird ass reincarnation shit at the end, was just... why?
DS is all about less is more. You don't need a lengthy traumatic story to know what the characters goals are. Cutting straight to the point while giving enough storyline to work with to understand what's going on. There's no filler episodes and the plot is spot on without inconsistencies
What i love about DS is the realisitc timeline. Tanjiro or anyone for that matter gets injured, it takes them months to heal and years to train back up to the standard they were before and then some. It is set over a long time frame which is a simple but nice touch
When it comes to recovering, the timeline is fairly insignificant. Any show could do that. If Naruto broke an arm, the story could say "Naruto took 1 month to recover." And then the story would continue. Strictly speaking, it adds nothing to the story. Imagine if you had to wait literally 10 days for Tanjiro to wake up from an injury. Wouldn't that suck? So why not just make it 3 days because they're basically superhuman. It honestly adds nothing. The only time it matters is the severity in the short run. If Naruto breaks all his bones, we don't expect him to heal in 1 minute and not even 3 days. But 7 days with super regeneration and medical ninja like Sakura at his side, then sure perhaps.
I like that Tanjiro knows he has to kill the demons and that he still shows then respect nonetheless. When I joined the Marines I learned of a simple phrase that became the bedrock of how I approach anger/hate. And Tanjiro is one of the few characters who exemplify it in most media. "The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him"
Those are some smart words. Reminds my of famous line by Vasily Klochkov that marked a turning point in WW2 - "Russia is a vast land, yet there is nowhere to retreat - Moscow is behind us!". Oh how the times have changed...
Being honest, Tanjiro does what every shonen protagonist (and every person) should do and the why he doesn't get as much love as he deserves is because he's not edgy, he's not snarky and he isn't as mature looking as many modern shonen protagonists. It seems that if you're kind (even if you're far from a brainless merciful with no sense of danger) you're instantly boring or a mary sue no matter how hard you train
@@mahistv yes, 90% of people would kill themselves if they went through what he went through, yet, he's still standing and smiling. What happened to him is what happened to characters as Jonathan from Jojo for example, apparently you can't be kind that you're boring (I'll defend these two kind yet not idiots princes with my life)
you know a character was writen right when just looking at them after they are gone still stabs your heart just as much as it did the first time. Rengoku was a true homie to his last breath
rengoku didnt have much of an appearance at all. he was kinda snarky to tanjiro, didnt trust nezuko and thats it. he never had a character arc and i dont get why people overexaggerate him so much
@@olwkazolwekRengoku is a person that has had generations of Hashira in his family and was brought up believing all demons were evil, which they are, Nezuko, Yushiro and Tamayo are just a lucky case. You can’t blame him for what he did. He wasn’t really snarky to Tanjiro at all and he did accept Nezuko in the end. He’s overrated IMO because he was the first Hashira we had a one to one in terms of story with, the same goes for Uzui, but he’s not a bad character just because you don’t like him.
@@olwkazolwekBesides, the likely reason that Rengoku HAD to die and never received a Slayer mark or character arc etc was because of Flame Breathing and how close it was to Sun Breathing.
what I like about demon slayer the most is whenever somebody is hurt, it actively hinders their fighting skill. it's not like the other series where the characters somehow always magically heals life-threatening injuries in time to finish off the big baddie
@@therealskygoat5318 fair enough! Some degree of shield is to be expected for the protagonists in all forms. I was talking more along the lines of when tanjiro’s jaw or ribs broke, they stayed broken for quite a while and it was also causing him pain. I haven’t seen many shows do that
@@therealskygoat5318 it wasn't an instantaneous thing though. They didn't lose a limb and then just go "Damn that's crazy" and continue. People were out of the fight for an amount of time and it was a rotation until the final rush at the end. It still showed them having issues from their injuries aswell. For sure there was a degree of ass pull but nowhere near what anything else does.
One thing you failed to mentioned that Demon Slayer does better than other shounen is constantly keeping truth with it's theme which is "Family". Majority of the connections and motivation in Demon Slayer is all about family, and it stay truth to it till the end. I believe the theme of 'Family' is one of the main reason why it became extremely popular in Japan because it touches the core values of Japanese people.
Correct, my dude. I wish I could give you a high five in person. Not a lot of people understand why kny became super popular and only just said carry by animation it's more than it's the value of family that keeps shining through kny that is the core reason kny became super popular in japan and also I want to add kny have great messages of value life in it's theme.
@@DestroyDEI True, but the difference is that Fairy Tail focuses more on "found family" while Demon Slayer focuses more on "blood family". More people are able to relate with "blood family" rather than "found family".
One thing I love about demon slayer is how it learned what works and doesn’t work from other series while still being original with its own cast of characters. Other shonen that I’ve noticed do similar are Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw man. They show us things we’ve seen before but with a nice twist to it. An example being in JJK whenever they reveal their own power to an opponent it gives the said person a buff because they have shown their hand. Most of the success these series have IS because we had series like Dragonball, Naruto, Jojo’s do the ground work and inspire all the next generations on what does and doesn’t work.
Big part I like about chainsaw man is that powers we’ve been introduced to are actually used again after the first time they’ve been introduced. Characters don’t just forget them and actually have them as part of their skill set
Three things I especially love about Demon Slayer, other than what you mentioned - Consistent worldbuilding. Taking the real world and adding various elements to it almost always helps the reader settle into the story. The fact that the setting has a precise date (Taisho period) and that everything does not seem out of place for the time and place. Even the fact that Tanjiro didn't know what a train was makes you well understand where and when we are. - Bad guys with moral weaknesses too. Usually in Shonen the final villain is perfect, evil and without behavior weaknesses: especially, shonen villains NEVER feel fear. This usually leads to the question why they don't just destroy the main character in the beginning (the excuse is that they don't consider him a threat, which is too trivial) In Demon Slayer this doesn't happens. Muzan himself is characterized as being terrified of Yoriichi, to the point of fearing direct fights and avoiding face-to-face demon slayers. This is a great explanation as to why the bad guy doesn't kill the good guys right away. - It never gets to fights on a scale too big to comprehend. In all shonen, at the end of the manga the final battle arrives on or near planetary levels (often even more). This happens especially in older manga (Naruto, One Piece, Dragonball). In Demon Slayer the battles are never fully exaggerated and they never get to destroy entire cities easily. This helps a lot to understand the power level of the various characters.
Yeah, I agree. I think the most collateral damage that ever happened in DS was the Swordsmith Village. Like, even the fight against Muzan didn't seem to result in as much collateral damage as that, and that fight was in the middle of a city.
@@suilugferenthon6683bro, this is such a tiring narrative. I picked up Demon Slayer in the Sword Village arc in the manga because the anime hadn't caught up to the Entertainment district arc and I finished the manga, it was a thrilling ride and the art work isn't something impressive. The story and nice and straightforward
That is because the show is pretty short. If it was done in the same way are Naruto or others - continuously every week for years, there would have been fillers
@@mahistv Akaza gave up, but I respected him more as a character because he did. Kokushibo I think would have kept fighting if not for Muichiro's flaming sword and Genya's flesh bullets effects slowing down his regeneration and his blood demon art.
I totally agree with these. There is something special about Demon Slayer that's hard to articulate to those who won't give it a chance, but I think you did it well.
Last time I can think of an end game villain being introduced so early and remain end game was Naraku from Inuyasha. Prove me wrong! What made Demon Slayer's art style stand out is its elegant use of lines, thick lines, thin lines, crisp black outlines make the colors pop, and easy to read the fast-paced action on screen. I also love when 2-D animated clothes have complex designs, it still feels so rare to see that.
Aizen from Bleach Griffith from Berserk DIO from JJBA And depending on who you consider Luffy's last enemy you can add Black Beard. Chainsaw Man ( i will not elaborate ) All introduced early and ended up being end game villains. I personally think the end game villain being introduced early is not as good except if written to have a particular twist ( like Griffith turning into Femto ) like imagine if Kaguya was shown in the 15 first episodes.
@@Enma.Junior But wasn't Aizen from Bleach revealed to be the villain in like episode 60 something? And after he is defeated, there are other villains? The show didn't end with him being end game, heck the manga didn't end with him being end game, so he's disqualified. Because he's introduced as the villain late, and isn't even end game, it's some bastard named Yhwach. But I'll give you points for everything else, worth opponent.
@@Enma.Junior chainsaw man's villain was only the end game for the first arc. The manga is still ongoing and with new antagonists. *ETA* Dio is not end game villain as well, though his legacy lived on throughout the original timeline
@@Zinervawyrm ngl straight up forgot about Yhwach being a thing. And for a story of aboit 366 episodes i'd say episode 60 is pretty early on but yeah Aizen doesn't count. You can replace him with -Pucci ( again some JoJo ) -That one dude from D-Gray Man too ig?
after watching Midoriya talking about how much he wanted to save a crazy mass murderer, i really appreciate the fact that tanjiro gets the job done, no matter how sad you backstory is
He didnt say that, he wants to save the kid inside that Monster, but he is going to clap him to oblivion. In difference to Tanjiro who literally starts to think dumb things with Gyutaro about to Kill him, Deku literally destroyed Shigaraki ass as soon as he faced him.
Special mention gotta be given to some of the cold scenes in this series, cause the words of the characters be hitting deep Daki remembering Yorichi s words through Muzan is one of my favorite moments in the series. You know how crazy you gotta be to give someone PTSD at the cellular level😂
Yeah, Muzan should grow out of it tbh. It happened centuries ago and people get over much more traumatic shit than near death, and he is a demon lord... cmon dude
@@mahistv well tbf the whole point of his character is that he’s not a fighter he’s a super coward. Basically like Homelander, a bully that’s never met people capable of checking him, and when it finally happened, it shook him to the core. Spoiler Right down the last fight, it could be described as a kid throwing a tantrum, the best he could do was flail his arms around at super speed trying to swat the slayers
@@mahistv At the point where he met Yoriichi, he probably thought himself well and truly immortal for several centuries. Getting owned that hard would have shattered that illusion, so I can definitely understand the ptsd.😂
8:14 In defense of Black Clover, this seems to be a theme to emphatizes more the fact that Asta, despite having a broken sword, got to the top with intense life-long training and always teaming up with his friends for combination attacks. Its a good subtle way to emphatize something in your story; make it feel like he's the only one or theres just a few who have that. Also, Demon Corps is admirable. Remember that the "elemental powers" in breathings are not real, so the Slayers just have superhuman stats, against Demons who already have that BUT MUCH BETTER, and ACTUAL super powers. It's insane, but its well represented in this theme of "the struggle of humanity against their own predators". Humans are vastly inferior, a Demon who used to train like a human can get to the power of a Hashira with just a few weeks of training, while as a human he would have to keep going for years.
Yeah it definitely makes sense that DS could be considered a "power of friendship" show, I mean, Rengoku most likely died because he had nobody helping him. Yet, Uzui survived with the help of 3 decently strong Corps members. And later, we see this "power of friendship" more relevant in the story, because most arcs after that are fought with multiple people at once.
One other thing I like about Demon Slayer is that the main villain has ✨Presence✨. In all of his scenes so far, Muzan is someone who can't , and is never, ignored.
one of the worst shonen villains tbh if u wanna know what presence just watch kira yoshikage , dio , pucci , pain , orochimaru , aizen , ulquiorra , Johan , friend
Any villain without a pressing presence is automatically bad, even if his purpose is to remain hidden, when he appears he has to have some kind of pressure, Muzan's is clearly one of the weakest i've seen in a good moment. Griffith has a powerful presence because of his charisma and overall ability to make anybody hypnotised with him, DIO has this presence because of his overwhelming power and the mystery behind him. Aizen has this presence because of his ability to bend everything to his will. Muzan? His manipulation is nothing more than overpowering, without the charisma behind it wich only makes him a worse version of DIO.
@@parthsharma9261 I mean....not really. Not all of those villains could consistently keep their presence the way Muzan did. Hear me out, lets take Pain for example. Before Pain faced Naruto, he was an unknown force to be reckoned with. His presence gave the audience a little bit of shivers when we saw just how dangerous his Rinnegan truly is. But the moment he faces off against Naruto, while the fight itself was pretty intense, the villianous side of him begins to weaken as we begin to understand him more from his backstory and philosophy. That is the problem with some villains. They become so "relatable" or understandable that they just simply aren't as intimidating anymore like before. But Muzan? SPOILERS: Until the very moment that Muzan died by the SUN and not even any slayers, the dude's presence was not to be played with at all. It took the entire corps to take him on, and even then, they were still going to lose had it not been for the sun. Muzan's ability to remain ruthless and not change in the slightest, not even in death, is what makes him such a solid villain. Pain ended up changing his ideals once Naruto talked sense into him, which isn't BAD per say, but it's the fact that he couldn't stick with his ideology till the very end that annoyed me. Change is important yes, but there should be some things that a character is absolutely unwilling to change no matter the circumstance. It's what makes that character....THEM. So when a villain begins to become way too relatable, it's just a turn off for me. I love ideals, but I love people who stick to their ideals till death even more.
Lack of sense of urgency in other anime gives me headache sometimes, demon slayer on the other hand gives me panic attack because you know shit will hit the fan eventually
@@Enma.Junior well it's not just about time, it's about knowing that when our characters go to war there is no plot armor there to keep them from dying or getting badly injured, there is no "healing spell" to save them in the last minute they are mortals facing doom essentially, I think RE: Zero feels that way as well if you haven't watched it give it a try :)
@@MercerSynthAI Inosuke moving his organs is a ass pull, Zenitsu for some reasons talking perfectly moving perfectly whike asleep makes no sense. And Tanjiro is bending the plot in case you forgot Tanjiro vs Rui
One thing I believe demon slayer did really well is the beginning. At least for me, the first episode is always boring or dry because they explain backstory, have no action, or something like that. But demon slayer just straight up starts with a tiny happy scene, then some stuff, then gets straight to the point, but still with fit pacing. The episode is interesting, and also gives you enough information to understand the main idea. That I like.
@@mahistv I also like that after a big battle they take time to recover! They dont really do that in other animes that i have seen, when you are hurt you need time to recover your strength!
one thing I love is that misturi, a pink lovey dovey anime girl looking for a husband and who has big boobs, is actually not really that sexualized and feels like a real character. she's a perfect example of how you can have a really feminine character who doesn't absolutely suck. she's also actually among the strongest in terms of physical strength too which is really cool! and she's no pushover in battle either. she's both very feminine And very strong which is just really cool to see!
I didn't spot any fanservice in DS to be honest. And big-booba girl is not it, because then half of ancient sculptures/paintings will be considered fanservice. It's a joke, but every joke has a bit of joke in it.
One thing Iove about this show is that it explicitly shows how defeating a strong opponent takes more than one character. Upper Moons were around for a long time, while Hashira change fairly often in this game, as they're only humans - it would make no sense for the fights to be simple duels with any chance of success. It's amazing that it took Tengen, Tanjiro, Inosuke and Zenitsu to defeat Gyuutaro and Daki - it underlines the danger they're facing and makes the show more suspenseful.
Agreed, even if Tanjiro gets an ass-pull from time to time, it is still a team effort and if you remove any of them our the fight, the rest would lose.
to add onto your point about the ladies in the show, they all have more feminine qualities, as an example, alot of them are in more support roles tho while still capable and the ones that do actively fight have their own forms to rely more on speed and skill than strength, pointing out that theres 3 breathing techniques exclusively used by women, they probably exist to be more suitable for them.
One thing most people don't seem to realise is that Demon Slayer is written like a stage play, you can see it throught the simple yet engaging plot, setting and dialogues, as well as how the characters act
I haven't seen many plays in my life so this is not my forte, but why would you write manga like that? I'd understand if it was a light novel or a web novel... yet it went straight to paper.
@@mahistv Idk if I was clear enough, I mean the kind of books that stage plays are usually adapted from, the characters often have very simple personnalities and are sometimes made one-dimensional on purpose, there's a lot of (inernal in demon slayer's case) monologues that sound kinda poetic with sometimes rhymes and stuff and the authors use simple storytelling to convey an implicit moral while still being enjoyable for those who aren't willing to try and undersand said moral. Of course DS is a manga so it's different in many ways, but I'm pretty sure the author took a lot of inspiration from some of these books, especially in the tragedy sub-genre.
Demon Slayer is already perfect the way it is. With more virtues than weaknesses, and it is a fresh experience that invites innovation thanks to its powerful chapters with not so much material. It doesn't matter if you liked it or not, it has that spectacular merit. I recently finished reading the manga in physical format and it was a wonderful experience. It's not just about the animation (which is the real BOMB here), but about the story and how it unfolds around the characters. Combat, strategies and a protagonist who can easily carry this series.
The Breathing system in Demon slayer is way more unquie than most shonen, Though we get visual effects like Water thunder and other elements. This is just a way to show the movements of the charachter. So if we were actually there we wouldnt see lighting coming out of zenitsu's sword he would just be moving incredibly fast. If you dont believe me search it up yourself
The breathing system is way less unique than you may think. As you wrote yourself, the elements are just visual, meaning that it's just sword movements.
@@Enma.Junior yea, its simple. they get strong due to the breathing. their body gets as strong as the one of a demon. though, its not only visual. its all in their head, they "imagine" the visuals and for example if u would be looking at the hcaracters perspective, like when u hear tanjiros mind "ive got save nezuko blablabla" then u could see his water wheel since were "in" his mind.
yea, they do get strong like a demon with the breathings though, and zenitsu for example gets superspeed with that and the effects are just there to give them even more concentration cool detail
I actually believe the effects are real. For example, in Mugen Train, when Zenitsu joined the fight and unleashed some of his moves, Tanjiro, on the other end of the train, said that he heard it: how could he have heard the Thunder that wasn't there?
@@7vader_edits7 yeah I’ve always wondered that, maybe it’s because Zenitsu was struck by lighting in training so,he can create actual thunder, the same thing happens in Mt. Natagumo arc, when he uses sixfold Tanjiro says he smells rain and thunder even though there’s no clouds
i love me a series that i can just enjoy. No over complicated story, not overly dramatical cast that can't keep their heads out of their asses after every setback and not to much overly weird and unnecessary bs. The reason I love this show so much is because it is firstly, a work of art. The style and lvl of details is mind blowing. after watching the first episode of season 4 I was like "what crap anime have I been watching since the end of season 3" XD The characters are fun and do what they need to. They are not overly powerful and the Hashira are also not endlessly invincible. The world is treated for wat it is. Just a fictional version of Japan, more or less. The backstories to the demons is really well written. I really felt for the demons killed so far. Especially the twins. Just a wonderful series overall and a pleasure to watch
Fr tho. An anime doesn't always need a complicated story in order for the audience to enjoy. It's refreshing that's why Demon Slayer is my favorite shounen anime ❤
I just saw the the end of season 3 and it didn’t took 5 episodes of screaming to start the fight and 10 other episodes of fillers and more screaming to get to the middle of the fight. The quality of the picture and how they selected the music that went along the fighting was mind blowing!!!!
I definitely agree that the training and power system is a huge plus. Deku's training in the beginning was done well as well and is something MHA should bring back. I would have liked it if Deku took some trapeze training to improve his swinging ability with Blackwhip.
Wait, he does train later, not as much as Tanjiro but he is lifting weights, jumping off the walls while with Gran Torino, learning how to kick, then he DOES train with Uraraka and Tsu to improve his Blackwhip and Float for the future
Tanjiro Is made somewhat like Kenshiro: he felt the pain of his enemies, and could see that most of them acted evil because they were broke instead of "full evil", but couldn't let them live as they would stop their evil ways only with death
I like that the demons all use weapons relevant to their past life most of the time like how Gyutaro uses scythes like when he was human or how Daki uses obi like how she wore them often or the hand demon who simply wanted a hand to hold.
3:39 I'm glad that my girl finally get's her respect. Also, some people call Aoi "dumb" because she doesn't fight demons. But she trains other corp members and make medicine, what a "dumb" person couldn't do. And she is a good friend/sister to Kanao. You might know that Aoi hade a crush on Tanjiro, but when she noticed that Kanao also is in love with Tanjiro, she has given up her feelings for him. I really understand why Inosuke choosed her
Actually, Muzan is pretty smart. He guessed that letting the lower moons live was a waste, since Tanjiro could train on them. That is why he killed them. He left only the six strongest demons, other than himself, plus some replacements. He knew that he should have ordered Gyutaro to simply let his sister die, since she was holding him back. If she didn't eat the hashira, then Gyutaro would be much stronger, and able to kill every good guy from the Red Lights District Arc. The only reason he let Enmu live, was because he believed that no one would try to kill themselves. And he actually let Rui make his family, which then weakened him, because Muzan simply liked Rui, and saw him as someone similar to himself. Muzan did do some stupid shit, but the only reason why Demon Slayers actually won was because of luck at the end. *SPOILER WARNING!* When Tanjiro was turned into a demon, he was weaker than Yoriichi, but he would live as much as he would have wanted. The reason he didn't just kill everyone as demon, was because Kanao was lucky enough to have another vial of medicine, and she was left with an eye through which she could see. That was the only reason for their victory. Not power, not training, just luck, and some nice thinking from Shinobu and Tamayo. *END OF SPOILERS!* All in all, it's perfect. It does things better than others, but is also quite realistic with a tinge of unrealistic things. Their power system was explainable, and it made sense, since things like that were not explored. 200 bpm and 40 degrees Celsius? The bpm does actually let you do things with more strength and speed, but the temperature and all that definitely will make you die faster.
@@mahistv Oh, I meant that the way of handling victory for the protagonist is perfect with correlation of all the character backstories and flaws, and powers. I have no idea if it is entirely perfect, but that part truly scratched the itch of unrelated characters becoming somehow powerful enough to win. You know, because in DS the characters are actually 3 dimensional and make sense, but are also related by lore (i.e. Yoriichi and Tanjiro, since Yoriichi knew Tanjiro's predecessors, and taught them the breath of sun). It's all very thought out, and definitely closer to perfection than most shows/novels/manga.
@Nanami Naokoshi I mean you say spoiler warning and give almost no opportunity to *not* see some of the rest. No separation, really. I also JUST finished the manga not 15 minutes ago. So damn good
It raises the stakes so much more than other shonen when it did the bold move of killing Rengoku, like yea he was one of the most powerful characters but even *he* can’t escape death. None of that revive ex-machina stuff either, he’s really gone and he’s not coming back, that makes each fight all the more tense knowing they could die at any moment. Even if they managed to make it out alive like Tengen did, he still lost an eye and an arm, some of these fights you don’t come back from and that’s great and endearing storytelling 👌
I 100% agree as well. I have some complaints about some bits in the story and it being a bit basic but I get confused when people say animation is its only good trait and its otherwise a bad anime. Different anime have different things that they excel at. Good Vid!

To be fair in that hellsing clip you showed at 4:27. If alucard and alexander fought at that time alot of innocents would've died. In short that comedic moment with Seris was not only funny she also avoided a catastrophe as while alucard does not care. He won't harm unless ordered by integra and alexander does actually care

The chance your fav character will die is much more seen in JJK as the first example that comes to mind. In DS the only characters that are killed are ashiras but like that's kinda about it? ( The cast in itself isn't very big anyways, and while yes a ashiras may die, it's not like you get emotionally attached to them as much as characters that ACTUALLY join the journey of the MC, such as: Way too many Jojo characters Junpei Unohana Retsu/ Yamamoto Way too many Chainsaw Man characters Way too many AOT characters

You may want to add about what drives tanjiro to do what he does as demon slayer. Unlike most of other shounen protagonists that want to become "the best" in their world (i.e. naruto wants to become hokage, luffy wants to become pirate king, deku wants to become no. 1 hero, etc), tanjiro doesnt want to become the best or the strongest demon slayer. He just wants to turn his sister back to human. He even stated in the last episode (s03e2) that he might die on his way to defeat muzan, but he's sure that other demon slayer will take his place and defeat muzan. Or in season 1 when he was ib rehabilitation training when he said that he will eventually grow old and die, and that will make demon nezuko feel very lonely, thats why he has to turn her into human. This realization is kinda scarce to find in shounen mc.
That's a very good point, because your dude is pretty humble and that why people hate on him. Everybody wants to be the best and cheer for characters that do the same. Barely a few have such "small" goals and can't relate to Tanjiro
@@mahistv one thing that what i thought demon slayer is very good at is how to extend "simplicity" to its maximum potential with their executions. For once the main plot itself is pretty simple, which is not necessarily a bad thing. With proper executions (animation, story telling, direction, ost, etc), simpler plot could attract wider range of audience compare to comolex and difficult plot. And ufo table is really really good at it. They really knows what theyre doing. Then there is the mc goal, what drive them to do what theyre doing. Just like you said, tanjiro's goal is just too small, again, compare to many other shounen mc. But for me personally, i think small goal, isnt necessarily bad, it might even be able to make more people relate to the mc. Because not everyone has the same big goals, like becoming the best or strongest. But most of the time, everyone really wants to save their family member or their loved ones. Think those factors (simplicity in plot and mc's goal) combined with great execution are two of the main factors that make demon slayer very successful.. ow.. one more thing...I notice the same "small goal" was also applied to chainsaw man, but again.. denji's goal is kinda too mature (to say the least) and too personal-gain.
the thing is that it isnt only " no mercy " . for those who are not going to change their ways they have no mercy but for peple who who have found the error in their ways they kill them to give them relief from this demon llife
omg amazing critiques!!! This is a good reference overall to learning how to build an adventure/action based story. you earned a subscriber and a like fr
Tanjiro is probably my fave new gen protagonist for exactly the reasons you pointed out. He is very empathetic and kind but that doesn't get in the way of him killing demons. He recognizes that while a lot of demons are victims too their actions can't be forgiven and that they are threats to humanity so they need to die. And yes he is bestest boy without the kind of character flaws that are a hinderance to him as a person but I personally don't put him in the category of a mary sue because mary sue's are typically perfect in all aspects of their lives. That is not the case for Tanjiro. He constantly struggles throughout the series and most of his wins have not been on his own and even with assistance he just barely wins which is why we get to see him do a lot of training and recovery time. Which leads into one of my other favorite things about Demon Slayer. The "friends and family" powerups are fairly minimal and when they are used they don't break the power scaling system. Despite the major friends and family boost Tanjiro got when fighting Rui and Daki he was not able to kill either of them despite that. I also think Demon Slayer does a very good job with where it places humor within the show. There's comedy but it never detracts from the seriousness of the story. Demon Slayer also does a very good job at getting you to care about/empathize with characters in a short span of time (even when they were previously hated or disliked upon first appearing like with Rui, Shinobu, Daki and Gyutaro, Genya, Sanemi, and YMMV with him but for a lot of people Zenitsu) Within 3 seasons Nezuko speaks only a handful of lines yet she is adored by so many people. And let's not even get started on the amount of emotional damage the majority of audiences suffered within only 2 hours of fully introducing Rengoku. I also like that demons are not an entirely monolithic group. Not all demons are evil. Also conversely not all demons are victims. I thought the Swordsmith Village arc was a nice little change up with how we had Hantengu, Gyokko, and more about Muzan and them all just having been trash human beings before becoming demons. Because Demon Slayer has reached such a broad audience it seems to have a lot of haters but in reality they're just a vocal minority. I've noticed that Demon Slayer haters literally cannot resist any opportunity to trash it. And with most of the haters their dislike seems to boil down to not liking it because it's a simple story with an unoriginal plot which I don't find to be all that valid of a criticism. Like shounen in general are tropey as hell with so many stories having similar premises. I don't care if a story is simple or unoriginal. I care if despite that the story is still well executed which I think Demon Slayer is. Kind of a side note but I personally feel like AOT did for shounen what Game of Thrones did for Hollywood in that in the wake of their popularity everyone wanted to have these subversive stories that were now "unique" but then because of oversaturation simple straightforward stories became a breath of fresh air which is part of why Demon Slayer came out at just the right time. (Also spot on description of Gon. I've seen so many people call him a sweet purehearted character and I'm just like "what show have you been watching??" It's especially weird when it comes from fans of Togashi's work because 99.9% of his characters fall into the morally grey or darker category)
I get that this series is a pretty basic Shonen but puts a slight spin on the genre but doesn’t completely change the genre. The show doesn’t really change anything but simply improves and furthers the tropes. This series isn’t perfect but is still good.
Pain was feeling pain in that photo shoot XD Tanjiro has a pure heart and he feels bad for demons and shows them sympathy in death but will still kill them because they pose a threat. This is why he's my favourite Shounen protagonist
One of the major reasons that i love demon slayer is that Tanjiro isn't afraid to kill demons because "killing is bad" or "they were once like me". Most shonen protagonists have this TERRIBLE trait of sympathizing with terrorists and mass murderers and letting them off with a slap on the wrist.
Another thing that I love is that Muzan is not the typically redeemable villan of some shonens (like most of narutos villans). The protagonists don't try to redeem him because he is unredeemable. I know he had a kind of sad backstory but that doesn't mean his actions are justified Also Muzan is not plain. He IS afraid of death and thats his main objective throughout the series, avoiding death and trying to be immortal because of that fear.
I also like the storytelling. And how each demon slayer has their own reasons for joining the corp. Not to mention the cliffhangers! Oh my god! I also like how the animators add a little funny/cute moments during a serious moment
Personally I thought muzan could have been just the top demon in jp at the start especially with how easily a hashira beat a kizuki 12 and with hiw close Tanjiro got to muzan but when I saw the gap between uper and lower ranked kizuki it became more acceptable for muzan to be the final boss
@@mahistv it's not even that for me at least ont exactly it's more that how muzan treats the kizuki like pawns clearly pointing that they exist only for his use and not as some elite squad of demons with muzan placed on top of them and also because he was clearly so strong that there couldn't be someone stronger than him and the demon slayers still have a chance against that kind of demon realistically
I still don’t understand why people say the story is mid it’s actually very good and very underrated also I fight that characters are better made than naruto characters and the deaths are better than any other anime it helps bring the story to say no one is safe similar to aot
saying the characters are better written than naruto characters is a crazy statement when itachi, pain, obito, kakashi, madara and orochimaru exist as for better deaths than any other show i’d say jujutsu kaisen, hells paradise and berserk by far has better overall deaths even akame ga kill(manga because the anime is trash)
I recommend checking out my two videos for that - "How Muzan could have won" and "Demo Slayer Corps sucks". I go in depth about certain plot point and how it make zero sense from anyone's point of view.
You're 100% meat riding Tsunade is better written than any DS character by a mile. And the deaths are not better than most animes they're very much cliché and nothing too special
@@thezenyattamain4244 I watched season 1 read the manga after that, didn't watch the movie cuz i read the manga and didn't feel like waisting time in my life to see a dude watch his dad sleeping
How about the skill/breathing technique/styles that suddenly appeared out of nowhere? We never know how Tanjiro able to do a style or others. Even Naruto shows how he learnt to use rasengan.
That jab at Black Clover was uncalled for. The fight was there to show the camaraderie between the characters, so what if nothing changed if it was gone. I enjoyed it.
Tanjiro knows that death is the greatest form of mercy for the demons so he accomplishes his role as a demon slayer while providing mercy to the suffering demons.
I get that Tanjiro is to nice for some, a bit to perfect in that aspect, it can be an admitted flaw. But it's a story, but he's not really a marry-sue as he actually did have to work, and has failed, and has almost died. What's nice about this aspect, is that his kindness comes from a place of empathy and reason. His sister being a demon is the reason he has to believe demons can be redeemed, it's like Frodo having to believe Golem can come back from the rings grasp; to think differently is to admit defeat. It's not just kindness for the sake of kindness. I am a fan of the classical look of Japanese art that gets put into the show blending in w/the modern anime/manga style also. What you have in Demon Slayer is what you get from fine Italian cuisine, a classic and simple recipe done near perfectly. If the art, or the voice acting, or the characters stories failed the entirety of it fails, but b/c it hasn't it's great and better then some more complicated and more sophisticated stories.
6:32 This has to be practically the first time I’ve seen a Beyblade BURST character shown in literally any popular anime explanation video 🥲 And at 8:30 one that I could think of is the training scene in the very first episode of Beyblade Burst, or the many others they show, or the tag games in Promised Neverland.

I just started watching Naruto and it can't be underestimated. It is one of the best anime out there with YYH, AoT, JJBA, and HxH. Demon Slayer is great too, but it's not of the same genre or at least have different plots with the anime I just mentioned. You can't completely compare all of them. I have thoroughly enjoyed all these anime and consider them to be the best of the best. I haven't seen Bleach or One Piece yet, but after Naruto, I definitely would.
I agree, directly comparing these animes is a bit disingenuous. But I think there are merits to doing so, as we can figure out the best tropes and use them later for better shows.
5:13 Enmu is pretty much needed because the reason they kamaboko squad was sent there is because a high ranking demon was thought to be there if he wasn't then they wouldn't of got sent so the season most likely wouldn't exist
Fair point, but that's still ass from the plot-development perspective, considering Enmu had all the tools to kill the slayers. Just tell the dudes to throw their swords out the window and BOOM! everyone is dead
@MahisTV He may have had the tools but they weren't good enough to do the job and throwing out they're swords would wake them due to the movement and they would be able to fight back enmu is too scared to fight up and close so that's why he prefers to fight through breaking the spiritual core and putting them to sleep since he's quite a weak demon when it comes to protecting his neck normally
I remember watching tanjiro meeting muzan for the first time and he is about to chop his head off when he stops. Then I was like "well that would've ended the story" then I saw rui vs tanjiro and tanjiro vs gyatoro when he couldn't scratch their necks until he got a power up and just thought "aww shit"
Though, he still technically lost to Rui, and really only got that close because of what was essentially a fast surprise attack. And even with the power up, he would never have been able to beat gyatoro without our sound hashira boy putting in work.

I absolutely love how the difference in power among demons and demon slayers is portrayed. For example after Tanjiro almost killed Rui but failed and Giyu just WALKS up to Rui's face and decapitates him in a split-second.
That certainly looked cool
What about the upper moon demon which is going to be killed by tanjiro alone in S3 which wasn't killed for centuries by many powerful hashiras but he suddenly comes and boom kills the upper moon like it was an ordinary demon
Tanjiro did not decapitate daki infact daki is the lowest upper moon (upper moon 6) and the reason she was easily decapitated by uzui was because she was the weaker part of upper 6 (other being gyutarou) gyutaro is the 90% power of upper rank 6 if gyutarou wasn't with daki she would most likely be a lower rank and with the power she got with her other part of her self she would still be only the 20% of upper rank 6 also the hashira of the Taisho era (the era where tanjiro is in right now) is said to be even stronger than the first generation of the hashira(used to be strongest hashiras)

@@marvertjaysonneyra457people sometimes don't enjoy simplicity but I love it 😅
DS is all about less is more.
I agree, I've mentioned it in my other video and I can't help but praise them for that
When it comes to recovering, the timeline is fairly insignificant.
1:51 I love how you visually see him shift the blade after he sees her welcoming death
Absolutely! A very cool touch to the scene
That stems from actual katana training.
Yes, kindness is not something people can relate to apparently, so its boring. Also, I'd argue that Tanjiro is pretty mature mentally.
@@mahistv yes, 90% of people would kill themselves if they went through what he went through, yet, he's still standing and smiling.

Interesting, I didn't think about pointing it out, as it is a bit off topic.

Fairy Tail has been doing that for a lot longer tbh.
Also great video on what makes Demon slayer a great shonen series.
I agree, basically the opposite of what Black Clover does.
Jojo actually also fixes its own mistakes over time!
Big part I like about chainsaw man is that powers we’ve been introduced to are actually used again after the first time they’ve been introduced. Characters don’t just forget them and actually have them as part of their skill set
@@notso_cody ?
Tanjiro is very merciful. But he isn't afraid to kill for the greater good.
It's a very refreshing quality for an MC
tbh, freeing the demons from an eternity of servitude to Muzan, and perhaps an eternal and boring life, is in itself being quite merciful
i like that tanjiro doesnt forgive the demons but feels pity for them unlike how in most animes and shows where they “redeem” the characters
Yeah, ain't no way MC is forgiving everyone
Three things I especially love about Demon Slayer, other than what you mentioned
- Consistent worldbuilding.
This usually leads to the question why they don't just destroy the main character in the beginning (the excuse is that they don't consider him a threat, which is too trivial)
In Demon Slayer this doesn't happens.
I agree with the point 2 and 3, but DS world building sucks ass.
I agree
Yeah, I agree. I think the most collateral damage that ever happened in DS was the Swordsmith Village. Like, even the fight against Muzan didn't seem to result in as much collateral damage as that, and that fight was in the middle of a city.
Honestly demon slayer is a typical shonen anime. Excpet that it does the whole shonen recipe thing really well. That's what makes demon slayer special
Its also pretty simple at it's core, so people can relate and enjoy easily
What makes it special is quality of animation.
The story and nice and straightforward
the best thing about demon slayer is that there is absolutely no filler, so every single episode is exciting and interesting

That is because the show is pretty short. If it was done in the same way are Naruto or others - continuously every week for years, there would have been fillers

Hmmm... Naraku appeared in the 16th out of ~160 episodes. I guess that does count as early
Aizen from Bleach
Griffith from Berserk
DIO from JJBA
And depending on who you consider Luffy's last enemy you can add Black Beard.
Chainsaw Man ( i will not elaborate )
All introduced early and ended up being end game villains.
I personally think the end game villain being introduced early is not as good except if written to have a particular twist ( like Griffith turning into Femto ) like imagine if Kaguya was shown in the 15 first episodes.

I do see your point! However, DS Corps suck as an organization and I made a video on that

@@wander7812 i see u everywhere get out of my headget out of my headget out of my head
It didn't help that much during the final arc though... granted, those who died weren't close friends necessarily.
I personally somewhat disagree. Uzui survived because of his ninja training but was then saved by Nezuko later on, but that was it.

One other thing I like about Demon Slayer is that the main villain has ✨Presence✨. In all of his scenes so far, Muzan is someone who can't , and is never, ignored.
still mid
one of the worst shonen villains tbh if u wanna know what presence just watch kira yoshikage , dio , pucci , pain , orochimaru , aizen , ulquiorra , Johan , friend
I agree, almost everything about Muzan sucks ass, but his drip and presents are absolute FIRE!
But Muzan?
SPOILERS:
Until the very moment that Muzan died by the SUN and not even any slayers, the dude's presence was not to be played with at all.
Lack of sense of urgency in other anime gives me headache sometimes, demon slayer on the other hand gives me panic attack because you know shit will hit the fan eventually

one thing I love is that misturi, a pink lovey dovey anime girl looking for a husband and who has big boobs, is actually not really that sexualized and feels like a real character. she's a perfect example of how you can have a really feminine character who doesn't absolutely suck. she's also actually among the strongest in terms of physical strength too which is really cool! and she's no pushover in battle either. she's both very feminine And very strong which is just really cool to see!
I agree, women don't have the toxic masculinity we often see in modern media, when they try to make them strong and independent

I recently finished reading the manga in physical format and it was a wonderful experience. It's not just about the animation (which is the real BOMB here), but about the story and how it unfolds around the characters. Combat, strategies and a protagonist who can easily carry this series.

I just saw the the end of season 3 and it didn’t took 5 episodes of screaming to start the fight and 10 other episodes of fillers and more screaming to get to the middle of the fight. The quality of the picture and how they selected the music that went along the fighting was mind blowing!!!!
I agree, DS gets to the point pretty fast, sometimes to it's detriment.
Theres actually a one piece fan cut that really emphasizes how much time they just spend screaming in still frames with effects around them
I definitely agree that the training and power system is a huge plus.

@@mahistv well, not like most of kenshiro characters aren't evil. Killing people around and enslaving them isn't that cool too

That is a very nice touch indeed!
*SPOILER WARNING!*
When Tanjiro was turned into a demon, he was weaker than Yoriichi, but he would live as much as he would have wanted. The reason he didn't just kill everyone as demon, was because Kanao was lucky enough to have another vial of medicine, and she was left with an eye through which she could see. That was the only reason for their victory. Not power, not training, just luck, and some nice thinking from Shinobu and Tamayo.

It raises the stakes so much more than other shonen when it did the bold move of killing Rengoku,
like yea he was one of the most powerful characters but even *he* can’t escape death. None of that revive ex-machina stuff either, he’s really gone and he’s not coming back,
that makes each fight all the more tense knowing they could die at any moment.
Even if they managed to make it out alive like Tengen did, he still lost an eye and an arm, some of these fights you don’t come back from and that’s great and endearing storytelling 👌
Kyojuro isn't even in top 10 strongest characters
agreed, stakes are well done here
I 100% agree as well.

This is a bit of my fault, I couldn't for some reason find the exact moment that pissed me off (I believe there was one in every episode) and I just ended up using the one I remember well. So you are correct, this was not the best example
I think the best think demon slayer ever did that’s better than the rest IS having defeating Muzun the clear end goal and the fighting graphics are microscopic clean! They don’t bounce around, the group gets strong defeating each general at each stage before taking on the world boss.

I have to agree, the Sword Art Online *anime* had Kirito horribly shown. He was overpowered and there was no danger. However, the light novel actually builds on his character (shocker) and shows him grinding out the game, especially after the death of the Moonlit Black Cats.
I would have loved to see that instead

It's partially true, but that doesn't mean there aren't other things to talk about
yeah, this is what I say to people who think the art style carries the show. my favourite part is that there is actually a chance your fav character will die. another is that the women are actually useful, they are people, with depth.
100% agree, even if animation carries the show (lets be honest, it does), there are still good things about DS!
@@mahistv yeah to be honest the art style carries the show, but it's good to watch with my brain switched of, otherwise I just get annoyed at some at the character's stupid ideas (Japanese Michel Jackson I am looking at you) lets be real demon slayer could have ended in season 1😂
The chance your fav character will die is much more seen in JJK as the first example that comes to mind. In DS the only characters that are killed are ashiras but like that's kinda about it? ( The cast in itself isn't very big anyways, and while yes a ashiras may die, it's not like you get emotionally attached to them as much as characters that ACTUALLY join the journey of the MC, such as:
Way too many Jojo characters
Junpei
Unohana Retsu/ Yamamoto
Way too many Chainsaw Man characters
Way too many AOT characters

@@hi-rt7kr I have read the manga years ago tho, and aside frop the wind's pillar brother and Tamayo or whatever i don't see any important character die, except for demons obviously
Well, that would apply mostly to other shonen, cause in DS, there is almost no changing the demon.
4:44 "man eating" puts doma's picture on display
OK, woman and man eating)
omg amazing critiques!!! This is a good reference overall to learning how to build an adventure/action based story. you earned a subscriber and a like fr
Welcome! Glad you've enjoyed
I mostly agree, except for the humor. Mt Natagumo was very serious but they tossed random gags too much and it happens later too
I get that this series is a pretty basic Shonen but puts a slight spin on the genre but doesn’t completely change the genre. The show doesn’t really change anything but simply improves and furthers the tropes. This series isn’t perfect but is still good.
I agree, and it doesn't need to be good at everything to deserve some praise
@@mahistv Exactly
In a sense, he is giving mercy. He knows death is the only mercy for the demons, and gives them that
Correct!
Pain was feeling pain in that photo shoot XD
Tanjiro has a pure heart and he feels bad for demons and shows them sympathy in death but will still kill them because they pose a threat. This is why he's my favourite Shounen protagonist
I wouldn't call him my favorite, but he gets the job done
“Could pause at any time”
Tengen slapping scene
There was a reason for that
One of the major reasons that i love demon slayer is that Tanjiro isn't afraid to kill demons because "killing is bad" or "they were once like me". Most shonen protagonists have this TERRIBLE trait of sympathizing with terrorists and mass murderers and letting them off with a slap on the wrist.
Agreed, get us more decisive MC or make them go through Yuji-type transformation
7:45 "Kamaboko Gopanchiro"
This is a superior name!
I actually don't like most DS stories with a few exceptions. They all follow the same formula
Personally I thought muzan could have been just the top demon in jp at the start especially with how easily a hashira beat a kizuki 12 and with hiw close Tanjiro got to muzan but when I saw the gap between uper and lower ranked kizuki it became more acceptable for muzan to be the final boss
Yeah, lower and upper moons aren't even close... which tells you that Muzan is even stronger

That jab at Black Clover was uncalled for. The fight was there to show the camaraderie between the characters, so what if nothing changed if it was gone. I enjoyed it.
Nothing's wrong with enjoying it, but if you can take a piece out of a story and nothing changes, it's bad writing.
Tanjiro knows that death is the greatest form of mercy for the demons so he accomplishes his role as a demon slayer while providing mercy to the suffering demons.
I hear some Ainz-sama in those words)
i subscribe, because Kamaboko Gonpachiro was drop exactly in perfect timing!
Welcome, glad my timing was perfect!
I agree, this is a very good way to put it

Like I felt more dread seeing tengen's hand severed than I did seeing Goku or anyone in dbz ever hurt since I knew they could be back
I just started watching Naruto and it can't be underestimated.
And not to mention he tired them out enough so they couldnt help rengoku fight akaza i doubt much would of changed but they still could of won
Isn't the porpuse of that is to also show the huge power gap between The Lower Moons and Upper Moons?
I remember watching tanjiro meeting muzan for the first time and he is about to chop his head off when he stops. Then I was like "well that would've ended the story" then I saw rui vs tanjiro and tanjiro vs gyatoro when he couldn't scratch their necks until he got a power up and just thought "aww shit"
Plot armor is STRONG with this one
Though, he still technically lost to Rui, and really only got that close because of what was essentially a fast surprise attack.
And even with the power up, he would never have been able to beat gyatoro without our sound hashira boy putting in work.
