I heard from several other ani tubers that the author of demon slayer started rushing at this point in the manga. Since she was experiencing several personal problems, and shonen jump refused to give her a break. So she rushed the rest of the story, which is terrible and makes shonen jump look even worse now. They treated bleach author Tite Kubo in a similar way when he was writing the thousand year blood war.

Is there a single author in Shonen Jump that hasn't been treated like this? You'd think new authors would be better prepared with the years of suffering they have to learn from, but the same exact thing keeps happening. It's almost like it's objectively too much work for one author and some assistance to do all the time, but it's Japan so they'll never change it.

Genya's whole deal with being able to consume demons, while random, was badass as fuck -- and then they proceeded to do absolutely nothing with it. There were so many points I was screaming "THERE'S A DETACHED LIMB RIGHT THERE! EAT IT, YOU FUCKING MORON!" It could have been a really cool way to explore the relationship between humans and demons by having this one fringe case of a human that predates on demons instead of the other way around. Hell, I think having lower demons be scared of a dude like that would be unquestionably tight. But they just did nothing with such a cool concept.

You do have a point about Mitsuri. Out of all of the good guys, Mitsuri seemed to be the least injured. There is no way she should be giving up at that point(5:35). Her giving giving up highlights how much plot armor the other characters get. If Tanjiro can magically recover from a broken foot(8:58) and have the strength to finish the fight, then Mitsuri should be able to dance with Sekido all night long.

That's because the top 3 moons are leagues above even Hantengu, let alone anyone below Hantengu. Here are some spoilers:
First and foremost, Akaza.Akaza.The guy who gets stronger and stronger the more fighting spirit his opponent has. The guy who became the 4th strongest demon in existence without eating women, something that is stated to give a massive buff to the demon who does it. From his speed to his destructive capabilities, to the fact that he was unkillable by anything other than the sun, you can see WHY he's not fazed by the marks.
Then, Douma. His cryo techniques are a direct counter to slayers because they can freeze people's lungs in seconds. The only reason he lost was because he ate, get this, 700x the lethal dose of the poison used to kill demons. And that STILL didn't put him down, they had to finish him off manually. Not to mention he was fucking around until the poison started melting him.
And last but not least, Kokushibo. Faster and stronger than any demon slayer and demon aside from Muzan. The guy who had to have every last drop of his blood sapped away from him AND throw the fight in order to die. He was hauling ass prior to that because, unlike every demon slayer, his moon breathing has a physical form. Yes, he actually produces crescent moons that slice people apart when he does his techniques.

Hantengu and Gyokko were way more survivable, and probably far better at dealing with individual slayers or groups due to the versatility of their attacks and difficulty to kill them - but I feel Guytaro and Daki could blitz a weaker Hashira faster - though since their only advantage is in sheer head-on power, they would lose to a comparable strength opponent like perhaps Rengoku or Muichiro much easier than 4 and 5, which have spellcasting and damage over time abilities. In fairness, Gyokko and Hantengu are probably more useful to Muzan which would play a part as well.

I'm not saying it was a bad thing that he learnt it, or that he shouldn't be able to. Imagine they had that conversation in season two, nothing comes of it in season two, but season three happens and he thinks back to the conversation and then he's able to use Thunder Breathing. How much more rewarding would that be? The setup and the pay off. It felt so cheap to me that they threw in that conversation which we never saw to justify him learning Thunder Breathing.

Yes, Luck was a huge part of beating upper 6, luck isnt always bad in shows. It wasnt completely miraculous, we have seen demons especially upper ranks stalling before, such as when rengoku was asked to become a demon.
We have also seen Tanjiro come up with last ditch plans to try to win (such as throwing the axe in the air in the first episode). He did the same against upper 6.
The show acknowledges upper 6 could have won by simply finishing off Uzui and Tanjiro (when the siblings fight with each other at the end.)
But after Upper 6 was defeated due to carelessness it is imperative for the story to make a change to this (for example making other upper ranks more careful after one of their ranks were killed). Instead the upper ranks are nerfed, and are just as careless. Upper 5 loses because he didnt finish off a hashira (and because of a BS power boost) and Upper 4 doesnt go all out until the end (because they had to show us his overloaded convoluted ability, that wasnt even explored in depth.)

For a long time it bothered me why Tengen and Rengoku didn't maifest their marks. But then i found out that apparently in order for a person to achieve a mark they have to have a fear of death during an intense moment in battle which leads to extremely high levels of adrenaline which ultimately leads to the effect of manifesting a mark. The mark is something unnatural, almost like a disease which is why anyone who gets it eventually dies. It may grant the user exceptional levels of strength but it also causes damage to point of no return. If the mark is manifested on one person it slowly spreads like a virus affecting other people in similar situations. The reason why tengen, rengoku, zenitsu, inosuke never manifested a mark even though they were in a near death battle moment like tanjiro is cause unlike tanjiro tengen and rengoku weren't afraid of death they were more than willing to die fighting their respective demons, they didn't feel that they needed extra help to finish the job. Zenitsu and inosuke on the other hand had already accepted their deaths. Which is why they tried going all out during the end of the battle as a final defiant moment. The others will manifest their mark because they're too scared to die *before* taking out their opponent. The only exception of the Mark's effects not having an effect on the person's body was Yoriichi because he was born with it. Bro is literally the chosen one. Can't believe the main character of the story wasn't properly introduced until the very climax of the final battle ended.
Edit- Hopefully this information helps and you can use it to inform other people as well.

Not like a power up. Same way as the demons feel the "mist" or "fire" when certain breathing techniques are used. sure they can't actually see the techniques but they feel it as such. The way we can see the flames ect is just a visual way to show us how the different styles actually look and feel. Thats how i see MOST stuff in demon slayer tbh. Not as some kinda power or powerup. S2 (Entertainment District arc) was bad, the out of place comedy, the annoying supporting casts Zenitsu and Inosuke, Upper Six were annoying (I liked their backstory though), and the main trio spent multiple episodes disguising as girls..
S3 improved a lot by getting rid of both Zenitsu and Inosuke, less out of place comedy, Upper 4 and 5 are fairly interesting, and the Swordsmith Village looks good aesthetically. The final episode was also really good when they had Tanjiro conflicted on whether to protect Nezuko and risk the villagers dying or save the villagers and expose Nezuko to the Sun, that was a great moment. S3 was great, and better than S2.

After binge-watching all three seasons in just two days, I found myself seeking other people’s opinions to better understand the show. While I did notice that the pacing felt somewhat rushed, I couldn’t quite grasp the backlash regarding the limited involvement of characters like Inosuke and Zenitsu fighting alongside Tanjiro.
What really caught my attention was Tanjiro’s character growth. In the earlier arcs, especially in season 1, he seemed somewhat sheltered and uncertain about how to protect his loved ones. However, as the series progressed, he stepped up and learned to help others.
Season 3 was the payoff for his development. The decision he had to make between his sister and a demon showcased his character growth. Although others supported him in the battle, the animation and storytelling made it feel like Tanjiro was the central figure in the fight. This was particularly evident in the last episode, where his emotional connection to the battle was palpable.

Since i read the manga, i can explain some of the plot holes this arc left.
"How did tanjiro and the gang become strong enough to handle UM4?"
Actually the UM4 clones were supposed to be Fodder. The rankings of the UM strength was based on their full power. UM4 clones are still not that strong
They are at best comparable to Awakened Daki each. Which makes the growth linear rather than Insane.
Also the slayer marks are an massive amp to the user.
"How did tanjiro learn thunder breathing?"
Tanjiro uses hinokami kagura which is basically sun breathing, the original form of breathing. All other forms of breathing were derived from it. Even being able to use Sun breathing is a sign of tanjiro being a prodigy, so him being able to use the first form of thunder breathing shouldn't be hard at all considering Zenitsu literally taught him and Zenitsu himself isn't a Prodigy (As he couldn't master the other forms)
"Why is nezuko immune to the sun?"
In the manga it was stated that tanjiros mom used to make tea using the blue spider lily and gave it to tanjiro and nezuko, since blue spider lily gives your protection from burning from sun, hence nezuko is immune. (Ik it was stated that nezuko blood undergoes constant changes but this was also explained). Also we know that if a blue spider lily is picked the other disappear which also explain why muzan had so much trouble finding them.
"Why did The hashiras only got the mark now, why didn't rengoku got it? Or Tengen?"
Tanjiro unlocked his mark at the end of the fight, it was said in the show that when a slayer gets a mark, it spreads lile virus and others also start to get the mark, that is why Muichiro got the mark. Why was tanjiro the first one?
Well a plausible theory is that because the requirement to get the mark is to increase your heartbeat, tengen didn't got it because the poison slowed his heartbeat.

Dropping the show is a strong thing to say. I bet that most of the people who act this way will not completely drop it and will eventually end up seeing some more episodes when available.
At this point in time nobody can really claim to have "dropped" it cause there is nothing else left to drop. You are just saying that you won't watch the next seasons, but we'll see if you'll really stick to your own word. Cause I personally doubt most people will.
This season was not as good as the other ones sure. But that is not absolutely a way to say it was bad. It had awesome fights if you look at them from a graphic perspective, it had a lot of character development of 3 ashuras. It introduced a secondary character that was the brother of the wind ashura who we've seen every now and then before this but didn't know much about and didn't know if he'll be any relevant to the story. It had a massive back story of the main villain as well as one of the best single moments in the show until now when we saw Nezuko alive. That was a massive plot twist for whoever didn't read the manga before, you can't just say "it was obvious", cause it really was not. We literally saw her hide cause she didn't like the light for all the previous episodes and also scream in pain just a moment before when the sun was rising in the final episode. Why would she started to burn as she did if it was an ability of her since the very beginning as you seem to believe? Also an ashura (the water one) that fought her in the first episode when you argue that it was day, didn't ask himself how it was possible, despite him being basically an expert on the matter.
It didn't have as good enemies as the last seasons had and it was overall the worst one, but it still is worth watching and shouldn't make anyone completely drop the entire show.

Also setting was a factor. Season 2 gave us a sense of scale and environment with the city and many people around at risk. Season 3 we are literally in a village… but all the fighting took place in random forest that looks the same as the fight with lower 5 in season 1. Non of the attacks from upper 5 and 4 looked large or wide, just broken wood here and there. And I mean come on we didn’t even see upper 4 go all out before he died.
Season lacked some much of what the other season did well.

Not to mention, this is the sword technique which he himself is strongest while using.
The style best suited to him.
Of course it would take much less time to master than his water breathing techniques.
It was a situation, and it was not, in fact, fucking sidelined.
Kyojuro fucking died because he became fucking paralyzed after using a single sun breathing technique.

    1. Muichiro knocked tanjiro down twice rudely and made tanjiro get CLOSE to mitsuri and I mean close.

    3. When they fought gyutaro he destroyed mostly everything in sight plus he needed 4 demon slayers to defeat him and the demon slayers barely won yet They made Gyokko look like a weak joke of how he died. He is a higher rank he shouldbe stronger.

Now that our boi tanjiro has access to the mark it also went to other slayers. So in short the slayer mark is like corona but replacing the bad shvt with good shvt

The same is happening with tanjiros era he needs to unlock the mark first before anyone else. Hes a sun breather and the manga makes it clear that Yorichi and Tanjiro are meant to be very similar. The fact that tanjiro can use sun breathing by seeing his farther practice sun breathing: dance is just wow. They are meant to be similar but sadly Rengoku just had to die since he fought akaza before Tanjiro got the mark. Uzui also would have gotten the mark if Tanjiro had lets say awakened it with the fight between Daki. Nezuko knows she has it and from the start we see her make several attempts to go out in the sunlight in certain scenarios, but Tanjiro stops her each time thinking she doesnt know better, and her being unable to communicate means he obviously wont understand, and eventually, she stops trying and just goes along with his measures to keep her out of the sun to make him feel better. that way it'd be more hinting towards it, i think, idunno if that's much better but ye just an idea i had

demon slayer is the best example of "oh what a nice animation, let me ignore everything else because the animation distracts me from all the essentials of what makes a good story"
I can't imagine people out there describing Zenitsu as a good character...simply no, I haven't seen anything as annoying as him in a long time.
tanjrio's attitude is annoying too, you have sympathy for everything and everyone... uhm tanjiro? why are you crying for demons who just reduced innocent people and a whole village to rubble and ashes? (gyutaro & daki)
I would have preferred Inosuke to have more screentime.
let alone the missing world building and no offense people, but the principle with the breathing techniques is really nothing unusual (just for your information, the effects with fire, water, thunder, etc., you don't actually see at all, so how do the breathing techniques differ from each other? )
JoJo's Hamon is a good example of a well thought out power up system
In my opinion, Demon Slayer only got the hype because UfoTable did a good job with the animation, but that's about it. if you look at the manga you will also notice that it is really not well drawn... but well... it's just my opinion (and apparently many others')

Demon slayer is carried by its presentation, but all flash and no substance eventually wears thin on people in the long haul. Shows like Aot or JJK have other elements that keep people coming back besides the great animation, and unfortunately, Demon Slayer is a show that is about as deep as a grade school pool. There are no character arcs, no characters that go beyond 'anime' personalities, and no real overarching plot or mystery. The great aesthetic, character designs, music and animation are all excellent, but those things are like waving a shiny object in front of a cat. The last time I remember people turning on a series this hard was Sword Art Online. Only at least with Sword Art Online people were taking issue with the characters and story as a whole. Here they just seem to be taking issue with tropes that have existed in the shonen genre since its inception, its just more noticeable here because the western audience that grew up with anime is older and more cynical. I'm pretty sure you could find just as many, if not more, things to nitpick in a series like Dragon Ball, like how the Super Saiyan 2 multiplier makes no goddamn sense and completely breaks power scaling established in fights like base Goku versus Frieza. Though, in fairness, you could probably argue that power scaling in that series was busted as far back as Master Roshi's moon busting feat in the Tournament Saga.

    • @Blackmustache870

The tropes on demon slayer r over the top. They take every known shounen trope and fit in a singular piece within demon slayer. Zennitsu is tge crybaby whis secretly a badass. Innosukes the idiot. Nezuko is the inner demon. Tanjiro is the insufferably kind saint. Gyomei is the character within the protagonist group known as "the strongest". Giyuu is the emo.
Also aside from tge hardcore db fans, most people recognize db as one of tge worst written shounen out tgere at the moment, so u it doesnt need to be pointed out.

    • @mahistv
      @mahistv  Год назад

I made fun of DBZ on multiple occasions and I'd say that these are not nit-pick, since pacing, for example, is a major issue which has nothing to do with a particular genre

The demon slayer mark thing and it just apearing on muichiro and mitsuri and not rengoku is explained on the manga. Basically when one unlocks the demon slayer mark people around him start unlocking it too and that is why rengoku and tengen didint unlock it on their battles, because tanjiro was the first one to unlock it.

    • @sharkas9965
      @sharkas9965 6 месяцев назад

Just because it was explained does not mean its appealing story writing. They obviously came up with whatever excuse they could to justify tengen not getting it. Marks ruined demon slayer. Entertainment arc did great without any bullshit power boosts.
Not everything has to have dbz powerscaling
