I am 16 doing art as one of my main subjects in highschool- before i ever saw any of your videos i picked literally the same art topic as you. like my write ups and everything have gender identity, heteronormative blah blah you get the point. I chose mine because i live in the caribbean and well they arent close to opening up at all. Like my teacher had to ask our M.O.E for permission for me to do the topic. Seeing your work makes me so happy and inspired to do better.

I love the brazillian music you use in your videos, as someone fron Brazil it makes me so really happy to see somebody apreciating our culture after some really nasty reations to Carnaval lately with total disrespect to our people, thank you so much bret, your art show was amazing! ♡
Brett, I'm only 10 min into this video so far, but I just hope you know how incredible you are. The sheer amount of labor going into all of this work AND to always be recording and documenting and sharing on your socials is astounding. The drive you have is soooooo strong and that's really something I admire (in addition to your amazing skills!!!) Thank you for always sharing and for being a huge inspiration for us all, myself included!!
All of your pieces evoke unique and amazing energy! Your theme is so cool! The performance piece is so cool and I can feel how discomfort was a theme during the performance. You are so talented. Because of you, I want to go to USC. I am currently an Art Student and I’m excited about my future!
omg Brett, it’s so insane that you documented the whole process and share with us!!! Congratulations on your own art show🎉 love your vlogs haha~ I was also an art student, but I studied in Hong Kong lol. USC was one of my dreams schools tho~ it must take lots of effort to edit such a long video…you’re amazing🤣✨
I would totally love to see one of your art shows in person, it has such an impact on society gender norms, as a non binary person I’ve always been faced with the similar sort of issues/characterisation, being told I had to fit in with feminine ideology, being told I’m not allowed to cut my hair short or wear certain clothes, it’s just very inspiring to see this type of representation in the art world :3
I am going into my first art competition it goes by each district and if you win you get your art piece hung in the White House I’m so excited I think my piece has so much meaning I’m so excited. I probably would have never done it if I never saw your videos and got inspired by you ❤❤❤
ur like my biggest inspiration rn, like i love how you portrayed your ideas and EVERYTHINGGG. ik theres a low chance of you seeing this but this video made me remember why i wanted to go into art school in the first place💕
Thank you for sharing your journey! An amazing exhibition of skill and perseverance I hope you have a great summer at Yale! I hope you share your thoughts about it. You are such a inspiration that good things will come!
Congratulations!! those prints are beautiful, if you ever need to mount those types of things again try and find very thin double sided tape and tape it against that foam card stuff, its works pretty well!
Although I’m not an art major (I’m getting a wildlife ecology degree), I can really sympathize and relate to the mixed emotions you had after your show. I’m working on a research grant project and in some ways similar to your journey, it involved a lot of effort and running around, but finally getting it off the ground and completing it almost feels underwhelming? My thinking is it’s probably got a lot to do with potential burn out from how hard you’ve been working. Loved the show. I really enjoy the cultural and queer symbolism you use in your work
Hey! Im a second year BFA student in aus and I found this vid really helpful for thinking about gallery showing and public installs, thank you. Best wishes with your Yale stuff!
you are such a big source of inspiration and you make me wanna move forward in my own art journey, thank you and hope the pressure's eventually gonna go away
This is my biggest dream as an artist, I would love to know how you were able to have a solo exhibition. Was it set up through your school or a class? Or was it an opportunity you sought out yourself? Lots of love to you, Artist to Artist. Your pieces are so expressive and beautiful. 🤍
I justcwanna say this, your allowed to get frustrated, and be upset. I say it bc you kept emphasizing that despite your frustrations your grateful for the opportunities you've been given and I respect that and I also feel bad bc sum ppl will bash those who complain when they get cool opportunities. BUT YOU ARE ALLOWEE TO GET UPSETTI SPHAGETTI. That's all I enjoyed this video❤
