Saw Stevie with Steely Dan at Wembley last week & he opened with this number... just amazing! He later switched to guitar & played an incredible, elongated version of Dear Mr Fantasy... the guy is a total legend!
And he was OFF. Not blues 'off'. Not jazz 'off'. Not sliding up to into a note 'off'. Just plain OFF. Like he didn't even know what song he was supposed to be soloing on OFF. When he came back in at 2:00... he was way OFF, and stay way OFF for 4-5 notes. And, if anybody wanting him for a gig heard his solo on this... his pager would have been silent from then on!!!
Classic American 60's soul band, Hammond B-3, and someone who can play it, hollow body Gibson lead guitar, fender bass, wild drummer and a sour trombone! Just like 1967!
@Steve Winwood Cool...well, you know, the keyboard, trumpets and drums made up for it! Your Beautiful music through the years. Whoever you are, we'll bring it all back 'home' one of these days.
British blue-eyed blonde guy , whose voice is a scream of protest out of a Memphis juke joint. This song is part of what I mean when I say that the music was better in the 1960s.
Stevie's voice too low in the mix, but otherwise a creditable version. God alone knows what happened in the trombone solo. Player not expecting to be called? Slow reggae phrasing over a fast R&B tune?

saw him open for steely in nz 2011.
Love Winwood. Best musician ever and so cute too.
Straight up fire!!! They playin like they need to get paid!
I'm obsessed with Jody Linscott - the percussionist. She's played with so many greats.. What a talent!
met her once at the Bottom Line in NYC. A really great musician and person
Thank you for letting us know her name. I kept waiting for the cameraman to slow in on her.
Great pro.
It’s Linscott btw, there’s no “d” in there. I was more impressed by the guy to the left of the drummer! That opening was great!
A friggin freight train with Stevie at the controls!
The 90s when the world was a brilliant place to exist, great track except for when the bloke with the trombone fell down the stairs.
Bosco De Oliveria on percussion, along with Jody. Both brilliant.
I LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH !!!
Gen X here....is voice is so distinct and incredible.
lol world record for live band Most members !!! Great sound !!
I was searching for that song just now, Friday August 26 2023
Ich bin begeistert 😊👍😎
He’s the man: no doubt about it!
great cut of a great song!
I love Steve Windwood. This was awesome except for the trombone solo.
This is why trombone solos are strictly prohibited...
Dreadful. That plus too much string section.
There are 30 pieces behind him and yet the nightmare trombone stood out.
As the old joke goes: What's the definition of optimism? A trombone player with a pager...
@@BassistPaul That's Rico Rodriguez. He got paged a LOT!

D. B. Amen D.B.!
Steve Winood is British he was in the Spencer Davis group in the 60s then also Traffic.
Excuse me, but this is played on a Gibson EB-2....legend Bass from the 60th.
Steve just rocks gr8 song best played loud and languish in the ecstasy of music with soul passion and power
fuck man. This rocks
GOD.
Darn good bongos !
Great! Trombone solo...perhaps a bit too stoned? But hey, everybody must get stoned...there's a place for discord too, especially in jazz, I'd say.

КРАСАВЕЦ СТИВ! ЯРКИЙ МУЗЫКАНТ И ПЕВЕЦ!
impresionante el solo de trombón!!
Interesting trombone solo.
LOL I know, whats up with that?
What were they thinking during practice to include that hideous trombone solo?
por favor pueden volver a grabar este video hay un zumbido que afecta al escuchar.Gracias
Can no one hear that high freq sound?
Awesome..
Coming 'Home
❤
Is that the same female percussionist who toured with The Who on their Tommy reunion tour in the 90's?
British blue-eyed blonde guy , whose voice is a scream of protest out of a Memphis juke joint.
This song is part of what I mean when I say that the music was better in the 1960s.
And ya know dat!
Sorry .... a trombone can't replace a terry kath solo....
One of the best rock songs ever written.......but this is not the best rendition...!!!
I love the trombone solo. So sue me
My lawyer will be in touch, LOL!
Get your ears checked
Trombone vs Trumpet? Trumpet please..
LOL you're not saying that just because of Trump, are you?
A1 Mod SKa FunK.........
Stevie's voice too low in the mix, but otherwise a creditable version. God alone knows what happened in the trombone solo. Player not expecting to be called? Slow reggae phrasing over a fast R&B tune?
Here Rico CreaTeS MaGicKal MuSicK MoVemenT.......
Amazing gilson lavis on the drums there
AFFSOLÚTT!
sounds more like the Chicago version than the sdg version, good though!
Sigh 😔.....where has the (real) music gone?
worlds largest band !!!!! lol
One person is not too manly.
Some wrong notes in that trombone solo.
They should've given the guitarist a solo instead of that low energy, horrendously bad bunch of notes played by the trombone player..
The poor bloke
Ahem... the expression is, needs more cowbell, not more trumpet!
Band plays too loud, can't appreciate the great voice of Stevie. 😢
Don't like the arrangement. That song's supposed to feature a wailing organ, not brass.
Pull this shit down until you can probably encode it and it doesn’t have that HORRIBLE HIGHER FREQ. SOUND.
I love the song but oh dear God but trombone player is just horrible
