It happened to me, too, in the 90s, by a cancer specialist, very highly respected. I was only a receptionist, he thought. Nothing I could do, but I tried hard. No one would go after him. He smiled at me the last time I saw him. God has the last word. Great movie.

Good men don't understand the evil that lurks in 50-90% of the male population. Forcing yourself on a woman, or manipulating her to think it's all about love when it isn't, is more the norm than good guys can understand. That's awesome that you teach self defense but you should understand that you are only helping 1% of the population. Most rapes occur after the abuser has gained the trust of their wife, girlfriend, neighbor, church member, etc.

    • @supportvawa2213

We need to teach women to never trust anyone, identify red flags and avoid being alone with males. Don't go to male doctors. Don't have a male employer.....I am volunteering at a thrift store that is a church's women's ministry. We opened during COVID-19 and it was just church people. Now that we've been around for a few years and tourists are coming back to town, we are experiencing a lot of uncomfortableness when non-Christian males come into the shop. I think we should shut it down. I don't like being vulnerable.

    • @supportvawa2213
      @supportvawa2213 Год назад +1

.....(I'll probably stop volunteering.....either way, this is what 50-90% of the male population is doing to women. Whether we get attacked by one specific person or just take an early retirement, shut down our business, quit volunteering, etc - Women are not free to do anything in a man's world. We just get treated like the bedroom and kitchen slave, the minimum wage customer service employee or whatever it is that keeps us completely under the control of the males in our life. There isn't a single woman alive who isn't being abused by patriarchal authority.

Thank you for sharing YOUR story Ms. Noel! Awesome. I too, am a victim of child sexual abuse at the hands of close family "christian friend" that my mother refused to believe anything happened, which delayed my getting any type of help until I was well on my own, and an adult. It was in my childhood medical records that my own pediatrician, or MD suspected sexual abuse and confronted my parents, which they strongly denied, and abruptly left the office! I found out this out years later when my MD at Kaiser got my childhood records!! IT confirmed my memories of the abuse.
I suffered for 4o years of depression as this pedophile and his son, whom he was grooming to be like him, had tortured me for hours, and had accidentally knocked me unconscious, but thought they had killed me, and were preparing to bury me alive, when I came to. The wife/mother of these two cleaned me up, threatened me into silence holding my hands over red hot stove burners. I developed a fear of being in the kitchen and of hot stove burners for decades! I could not cook until I was well into my 40's. I was 9 years old when this happened to me! I am now 60. I also became an alcoholic. I have not had a drink in 21 years! I am much better now and have finally beat those horrific memories. Thanks for the movie of victory. My tormentors were never punished for what they did to me. Went on to harm others, killing others, were finally caught, both of them died in prison, the wfe/mother committing suicide. They are all gone now. When I remembered fully all my memories I tried to report it to police though it was past the statute of limitations for the law in my State. I found out this other information about my attackers. They eventually got theirs, and the detective said it was not my fault. I did have survivors guilt for a long time, but am finally okay.
Again thanks for sharing this story and it is gratifying that this woman had the courage to do what she did. I am proud of her and proud of all victims who survive their initial attack and go on to see their perpetrator punished in some way. Their has to be a recompense for what has happened, other wise the suffering, terror and pain is for nothing. Then the biggest part of healing is forgiving the attacker, and forgiving yourself and moving on. Forgiveness allows a person to finally heal from the pain, sadness and bitterness and angry feelings and let go of all the fear too. Finally once I did that, I could finally live again! My prayers go out to all victims of sexual abuse and rape. IT is tough to survive it, and live. I advise to find a good therapist and pray and not give up on yourself. Love yourself. Peace, Michelle

An intelligent, sensitive and captivating film, with a moving Judith Light.
The cowardice of the authorities concerning the eminent psychiatrist-criminal, is predictable, but still so revolting.
Male sexual violence, is the cancer of Humanity, which destroys so many women, teenagers, children, as well as other men, from all walks of life.
Predators, especially those with a position of authority, always know which women to target, especially those who are intrinsically insecure.
We never question the word of people robbed for example, but that of victims of sexual crimes, is always questioned.
    Always.
    To protect rapists.
Strength to all victims of sexual violence, especially those who have not been able to overcome, the psychotraumatic consequences, of this unbearable violence. 😔💔

The main problem people have is not understanding a woman that has been raped suffers from shock. A person in shock doesn't scream. There is no single way a person, woman or man that has been raped behaves or acts. First they are trying to comprehend what just happened. Then how do they want to deal with it, how can they deal with it. There really needs to be more trust and better ways of dealing with the victims of rape.

Judith Light is an icon from the 80's . I agree with some of the statements below that this movie needs to be shared , as the must be thousands of women out there going through the same story, specially when it refers to powerful and highly professional positioned men. This movie really touched my heart, Judith Light acting is brilliant , as in all her movies ....Also very touching story , as in the 80's and 90's there was a lot of repression and very lack ways to prove stories like this. This movie is a masterpiece, WELL DONE BARBARA !!!

I went to a dentist in the 1970’s in Chicago for a cavity in a molar. He gave me a strong sedative. I was young. I passed out in his dental chair. When i woke up he told me he put in a temporary filling and i needed to come back then he asked me out for dinner. I could hardly walk straight but i refused his invitation and got out. Months later his picture was in a front page of a Chicago paper for being accused of sexual assault of a patient. I always wonder.

In 1975, Julie Roy successfully sued her doctor, Renatus Hartogs, for prescribing sex as a part of her therapy and charging her for it! Other women came forward and testified they also were his victims. A book "Betrayal" was published about the case by Roy and Lucy Freeman. It also was made into a movie of the same title starring Rip Torn and Lesley Anne Warren. It was based on the book but didn't really follow the actual case. The strange element of this case is that Lucy Freeman also wrote a book with Dr. Hartogs called "The Two Assassins" about Lee Harvey Oswald, accused assassin of JFK and Jack Ruby, accused assassin of Oswald. What are the odds that the author would write the books for each? I always wondered if the doctor had prescribed for the author as well.

So, the testimony of the 2 women was important. The personal attack of the woman lawyer on Barbara Noel seemed to have backfired. Brilliant movie.
All the more because all of it is true. Sickening though how men and even women can't be regarded as serial abusers because of their standing in society etc. Things seem to be changing though thanks to other very strong suvivors. 🎉

Beautifully interpreted through such a movie!
In real life, you may not
think that it would happen to anyone.
Realistically, it usually happened against a person's will in various
    aspects!
The patients werent informed of the drugs being needled on them.
    While under the influence unconsciously
    they would get raped,
and assaulted by multiple people like a sx slave being sold in the
    human trafficking world!
    I would advise any lady
to watch this movie any day!
    It's educational!
    It's a prevention alert!
