Thanks RJ 😁 yes, the all important senses🤔 it does a job and is fun 😁 does it stir my insides like some others? No 😁 the 37Nm doesn’t come until 7000 revs, so you might say it’s a bit weak low down but it’s light enough and smooth for us novice trail riders 😁
Remember visiting a dealer a few years back on my bullet. Chap was being taken through the modes and switches on a big ktm. Seemed very complicated? I was listening as I checked I was in neutral. Turned key and set off. Amused me at the time. 😂 390 looks nice. All you need
Interesting! The KTM 390 is alright 👍( I wouldn't swap it for a scooter 😁). I quite like the style of the Husqvana Svartpilen, which has the same motor. Another good ride and set of impressions!
Nice review. Looks like a good bike for the moonscape that passes for roads in Suffolk. Only two problems I can see, the insectoid looks and that bloody orange. Would be a good winter ride, seems good value.
Great review TAYM👍 Another competitor is the Honda 500X and to a lesser extent the CL 500 (although twins of course ) . For me the seat height would mean it's a non-starter though. Be nice if they made a Scrambler version ... 🤔
On the bike itself. Of course, small vs big bike debase is full on with this one. On one hand, the bike is perfectly capable on your national speed limits, can overtake slow traffic and feel light and nimble for more day to day business. But, big bikes always feel nicer on open roads, the low down torque, the weight .. But the price and the fuel consumption are different. Also can be a hustle for more small person ... But that debate can go on and on.. Every one must choose his level of 'that is enough bike for me' don't need more. That is why we have all kinds of bikes from 50cc up to around 2000. Now is time for giraffe pic safari 🦒 Have a nice weekend, Mr. TAYM
I was surprised at this re-visit, mainly because you seemed to go off the bike in the other review. Glad to see you enjoyed it more and it would make a winter hack for you but as with all the Chinese based bikes, just how many winters would it see before the white fur coating attacks the metal. Nice enough bike though, (NEW).
Yes, the first one I rode seemed to be not as good but it was a secondhand one🤔 this was brand new🤔 maybe that’s the answer to your question 🤔😁😂😂 thanks Mike 😁
As a Classic 350 owner I found the KTM somewhat frantic even on tick over. Makes me realise what a good choice I made, I appreciate a different type of bike, but not my type of bike 😊
I put another 1200 miles on the 890 Adventure and some of those were in high winds. It was blowing me all over the lane at about 70-75 mph on the I-5 in California. I would love to ride one of the 390’s to compare them. I had thought of buying one to do that long term but ended up grabbing the Husqvarna FE 501 S. I might have missed an opportunity there.
I had written quite a uncontroversial little dissertation about the benefits of that little bike in potentially dystopian future but alas the censere...even Latin terms didn't work on the second attempt haha.
I haven’t yet. I have written to Sudbury BMW but they haven’t come back to me😕 I have noticed that Lind where I ride the Harleys from have a BMW shop in Norwich so maybe they will let me 😁
Don’t really understand the royal Enfield comparison at all . The ktm 390 adv is the best bike in its class . Until other manufacturers give us a light cheap option it’s the only choice . Straight out the shop it’s pretty sorted for road / off-road .
I agree, there is very little else offered from other manufacturers and I think any comparison stems from the Indian/Asian market where both bikes sell in much bigger numbers. Thanks RS 😁
Iv just exchanged after 2 years and almost 10,000 miles a 2021 model I paid £5700 new ( put it back to stock) . I had bought the ktm kit spoked wheel set and engine sump guard / crash bars and bark busters . Only issue I had after 2 years was the common but annoying moisture inside the tft screen !! Got a new orange/grey 23 model for £5800 with the quick shifter thrown in . Just fitted my spoked wheels and other kit and upgraded to the Akro silencer purely for looks . Cost £2500 with the exhaust to upgrade !! Am very pleased with it !! Iv a T700 also with 10,000 miles from new but have to say most of the time I prefer the 390 !! Hopin for another couple of years with the hope that by then there may be other good options 😊
Ah Ha, a revisit to the KTM 390 Adventure sees it go from being a toy to a tool, or might that be a Tonka Toy Tool 🤔 It would indeed be a good option as a winter bike but perhaps it takes a little too long to go from a spark to a flame. It's bigger brother is much more capable and fun but then it's heavier and more than twice the price. I'm glad you came back to it though and look forward to KTM day. 👍😀
£6k buys u a lot more almost new 2nd hand. Still worry about ktm reliability and parts etc. A friend of mine had a ktm950 and when we used to swap bikes I really loved his bike but alas was sold due to electronic frippery that he lost faith in
We call Aucklanders Jafa cause they think 🤔 New Zealand finishes just South of Auckland & are superior cause they have ½ of New Zealand's population. They can have em😁😆😂🤣.

I think I would have this over the 500x but I do prefer the look of the CL 😁 I still haven’t ridden one yet 😕 thanks DJ 😁
Svartpillion 401 is a bit more tougher due to spoked rims but the KTM 390 has option of spokes.Scrambler 500 CL or the Triumph 400x Scrambler.
A great looking bike just the job countryside fun 👍as always mutter 👍🤩

@@TAYM I think the 390 would be an excellent green lane bike! This years models are supposed to have spiked wheels available even.
Good evening Mr TAYM. Would be interesting to do a back to back between this and the Triumph Scrambler 400x when it lands. 🤔
