- Welcome to Wonderhussy Adventure #425
Date of Adventure: 4/10/20
Camping on a dry lake bed in a storm, then poking around some very remote mountains in the middle of nowhere, Nevada, that held some VERY interesting secrets -- from an ancient Indian cave to a really cool cowboy homestead!

She is so at home with nature and all by herself. Her exuberance is off the charts when she is going solo camping. That
was a real cool find with that well constructed stone cabin.
Leave the fridge door open for the same reason you leave the rv fridge door open in storage. Prevent mold and mildew.
Why would anybody watch this in the first hour and give it a thumbs down?
Must be a hermit in a cabin deep in the mountains that doesn’t appreciate a random wonderhussy passing through.
The blue hydrant you were trying to pump is a facet,if you would have flipped the handle all the way up you would have found the water! No pumping needed LOL!
She was supposedly driving one of the very blue hydrants called Dodge RAM, or something like that to the New York right now. But this video, well, must be another can video...=D Oh, it is the canned video from April.
Oh yes all the way up tuns on the valve at the bottom, with the valve being inbeded in a 10 or12 inch bottom hole with gravel around the valve at the bottom of the hole, the valve comes in a kit ,1 a bag of gravel,2 a valve,3 a push rod, 4 the lockable up and down handle, 5 a drain snorkel, it a air release, it lets the water drain back into the ground, thus, into the gravel, keeps it from freezing 🥶 in the winter, ok 👍 BigAl.
Yep! She just did not open it all the way. lol Have a great day.
Lol....to funny 😄 cute
The water is probably turned off
That blue jobby is just a faucet, not a pump, Darlin'. I'm going along with the crowd, Lass. Seems like a rancher's line camp...a remote station to deal with cattle, horses or
whatever. Still very interesting and thanks for not revealing the location. My bet is that the paneling for the ceiling is hiding some styrofoam insulation. A few mice chewing
that stuff up probably cause some to fall an get tangled in the cobwebs. And that's probably the camp kitchen and is only stocked with stuff when it's being used to feed
hungry cow pokes. When they get don't working around there, they probably pack most stuff up and haul it home. Great video, Love. Thanks for sharing while staying safe.
yes and give the pump a minute to put out water, it is a frost proof faucet, so it is deep in ground where water starts.
We should have a hussy camping party when this is all over
Cleanest , and coolest little cabin I've ever seen ...........Great find .!!!!! P.S got a kick out of watching you try to pump a valve :)
What you found is a line Shack for ranchers, tending their cattle while the cattle are on open range. You will find them scattered around Nevada. I know of several of them. Some are still stocked with food. I have used the Hot Springs you mentioned many times. I have been up in that area many times as my family roots at the turn of the 20th century come from Goldfield. There are pictures of my grand mothers family in the Santa Fay Saloon.
Your videos make me so so so so so happy! Whenever I’m down in the dumps, I remember that your videos exist and everything is better
Feb. 22, 2021 845 pm just snacking on a bowl of dry cheerios, and a cup of coffee and watching another
adventure of Wonder " woman " Hussy
OMG you make living life a whole Lotta fun!!!
21:48 so considerate of you to latch the door with that metal stick. You rock!
The cabin with the water 'hydrant' is probably a 'high pasture' bunkhouse for cowboys driving cattle. Or was. That hydrant dispensed water supplied from a well equipped with a well pump that was powered by a generator. Cattle and men gotta drink!
No well pump needed. The water was gravity fed, from the underground reservoir, shown, up on the mountain above the cabin. It was fed by a water pipe, shown, coming from higher on the mountain where water apparently came out as a spring. I presume they left due to lack of water.
@@TomSpurlock I saw that as well. But I wasn't sure gravity would provide the pressure above say 'bubbling' out of those hydrants needed to fill water troughs or supply that shower quickly enough without added assistance of a 'lift pump'. Plus, I noticed the electric refrigerator. A genny would've definitely been needed to run that!
And as I mentioned, that looks like a High pasture 'summer' bunkhouse. Not a permanent residence. But who knows? I could be wrong. And you may be right. I would have preferred one of Hussy's colorful scenario explanations over my boring one any day! lol
The "popcorn" was the spider's meals
What an awesome accidental find, both of those cabins were a treat to see. And yea' we do kinda' feel like we're there with you sometimes. Really like it when you give us a look around you , and the beautiful shots of the skyline. Julie Andrews would sing ' The Hills Are Alive With The Smell Of Sagebrush ' if she was there. The second cabin was so nice ,that Slim Pickins himself, would be right proud to to sit for a spell there ,right before he had to go back into town to get a sh☆♤tload of dimes for the tollbooth. Thanx for the wonderful visuals , those rock formed peaks are breathtaking, what a land ! Bob.G
The frig. door needs to stay open when not in use to avoid mold.
Yes if it was not cleaned perfectly anything will dry up if the door is left open. Close it and you get mold and a stink.
The walls are covered in lime plaster. It is a great wall sealer and with it being white it makes the room brighter. O and it is a natural insect repellent
It was a virtual hug. You give it to yourself. I think you got it. Oh, that's just crazy, those are the same laminated cupboard doors I have in my house. Good ol Indiana, kind of like China before China. That place is beyond belief. Way better than abandoned mobile homes. Classy people visit places like that. I pick up others trash too. It's easy and I get points for that. When I get stopped outside heaven I'll argue it.
Those magazines in the outhouse weren't reading material, it was toilet paper. I grew up in an era when the Sears, Robuck catalog was the toilet paper in the outhouse. The soft index pages disappeared quickly, while the glossy thick pages were the last to go because they were quite hard on the tush!
Line camp for a ranch. Very cool Miss Hussy!
I'll bet ranchers use the site when they round up their cattle from the range land. Hence the corral and some modern plumbing. The cabin is probably the cook shack. The hook on the ceiling might be to hang a lantern if you don't want to mess with the gas lights.
Linus Poindexter I agree. The coral is used as a temporary detention for cattle or horses. That ceiling was pine. Someone did a really nice job on that! You can tell by the water handles that they are serious ranchers!
That is a frost proof spigot not a pump . Raise the handle all the way to the top and wait. The rod on the handle plugs off the water below ground.
It is a line shack for the locale ranchers to use when rounding up their herds probably used in the fall. Thy probably take a hose from the blue spigot to the shower and just hang it over the top
Wow! That was a great old road trip. Thanks for taking us along even the smell of sage.
@12:55 It's a Double Seater!
The blue " pump" is just a valve. One you can lock .
Probably fed off that tank by gravity. A propane fridge.
This is a cool video! I want to go Out West on a road trip, so these videos are encouragement for me...
So much fun tagging along with Wonder Hussy you never know what she might come across 😳
You found some really beautiful places. Thanks for taking us along.
Funny.. you're out in the middle of nowhere exploring a cabin and according to the log book everyone else had the same idea. That was the ultimate COVID-19 escape. Can't wait to see what the next place reveals! ;-)
I would totally support a Wonder Hussy Museum. That would be awesome
I was thinking this was an old line cabin, maybe still used by ranchers or possibly used now by archeological teams because it's so near the caves.
I love how you respect our heritage and you honesty! Thank you for filming these unique places for posterity as well as you subscribers everywhere.👍🤠🙏✝️
What a wonderful three for on a Wednesday! Thank you Sarah. Take care Doll.
Sarah if you would of lifted the blue handle all the way up you would’ve got water ,if there was water in the system, that blue valve is a freeze 🥶 prof water valve, it’s down in the ground, in gravel, has a push rod, down in the pipe, pulls up to turn on the valve and push down to turn off the water, it keeps the water out of the pipe and valve above ground ok, that blue handle usually has a place to lock it, anyway Sarah, love you ,and keep up the cornavisting Desert camps nice , thanks BigAl California.
Aha Sarah, I finally went to town, The Dalles, Oregon, and bought some Blush "Box Wine" (my favorite wine), so now when you have your glass of wine, so can I. Oh yeah, I have a Toyota Too! Not a 4 runner, its a Corolla CE. It works for me. Lots of Love, James. That pump is not a pump, it is called a "Frostless". Each time it is returned to the down position, the water drains out of the pipe so it won't freeze.
James Parker If your Corolla is around a ‘94 you need to watch Scotty Kilmer on YT!
To: @@RaoulThomas007 It is a 2000 Corolla. 20 years of trouble free service. Replacing batteries and oil (synthetic) changes is all the maintenance it needs.
I believe that's a ranch line camp & not a homestead. A line camp is used occasionally by larger ranches during stock roundups, branding, etc., and it was not practical to return to the main ranch every day.
Yup, I agree. I wonder why they don't lock it up good when they are gone? I'm surprised people haven't messed it up. For all we know it did have a wood stove. Might have been stolen.
Solid cabin for sure. With the good size and fairly well made corral outside, horse folks could come up there keep their horses and stay in the cabin and ride out for a week or more.
You're all over my old stomping grounds. This area and Tecopa are a paradise for lower Cambrian trilobites!
You are a GEM, you take me places that I would love to explore. Thanks for this trip and your vivid description of the smells and all you could see. You made my day back here in isolation, with 4 walls closing in on me. Keep moving Gal so that bug wont catch you, he is very tricky. big LOL.
Your popcorn was probably silk spider egg sacks. Great video and cabin find.
I think most of them are wrapped insects. They are all too varied in size and shape to be egg sacks.
Tasty bite is my back up dinner as well! Your enthusiasm is contageous as heck!
I need to find a place like that where I can get away for a month or so. Love ya girl, just keep being you.
Beautiful scenery ,blue sky’s and snow capped mountains . 😍
Frost proof valve. Might be water behind it. Probably use the corral for shots and furrier work. I think there's wild horses out there.
Great Cabin. It is set up for use with Propane I believe. Popcorn or Spider eggs? You decide! Those hand hewn squared off boulders must have taken a long time to make. Glad you secured the door. Happy Trails. I have looked and looked and cannot find 'Nowhere' or the 'Middle of Nowhere' on any map.........
Nowhere is in Oklahoma. Seriously, Oklahoma has a town named Nowhere.
You are my favorite supermodel. Your vlogs are always a hoot because of your intellect and humor. Thank you!
What a beautiful opening shot of the landscape and of course your trusty steed. Now back to the video. Thank you
I love the smell of Sage. Some beautiful spots out there.
horse camp y'all stumbled onto! stay healthy "goldyloxs!
Your enthusiasm and joy are so infectious!
Thanks Sarah for making my Lockdown more bearable with ur awesome videos, Lets roll !"
Three deep stainless steel sinks with tube stoppers. This is a commercial setup for washing lots of plates or glasses. Wash, dip, hot rinse. You can't beat this system for washing dishes hot and clean. Just something I noticed different about this unique domicile.
Another cool video!! You should have tried the faucet in the "kitchen". I bet there would have been water in it. That tank up the hill might have had water in it and the whole system is a 'gravity feed system'... The tank fills automatically from the spring (where-ever that is). Then the water flows down to where it is needed...... stay safe girl!!!!
Love you Sarah! Love your adventures!
Ditto on that blue water valve...lift the lever up and keep it up(that's what SHE said)....and wait a few seconds- if it's still active it'll start to pour in few seconds
The note pad looks like something from a geocache. 🙂
A wonderful place!
Always keep me coming back for more!
Thank you for the upbeat video. Your narration makes it really fun to watch.
Thanks for the trip, what a great old cabin, thank you for the views of the mountains and taking the time to pan around so we can see it all too. I love your voice it is so soothing and up beat, please keep up your spirit a lot of us need you. I hope your trip to New York is going well, be safe have fun and come back as soon as you can. If you come back to Porterville I'll give you a bear hug for sure. Love ya much old Kenny.
Awesome cabin. The stillness of the desert. 💜
For the shower you take a five gallon bucket of water and set it in sun so it heats up during the day. The darker the bucket's color, the warmer the water. At day's end you set the bucket on the top shelf in the shower stall and gravity feed or use a dipper to wet and rinse.
There is probably a valve at the base of the cistern to open or close to allow water to flow to the lower spigots.
Thanks for another great video from a talented lady.
Hi Sarah Jane ; what an Heaven if there was few trees around and a tiny creek ! ! ! !
Have a nice and good day in the middle of now here .
Tchuss .
That was cool hussy, thanks for entertaining us during this damn pandemic!
I can't believe i haven't seen this video? Been watching you for years Ms. Hussey
You are living my dream!!! So glad you film it! You are so lucky. Thank you for your adventures.
The little caves are so cool, love to visit there, sure miss it out west way out in the middle of nowhere.
Hint for when you are stuck in the mud or sand: if it's wet, add dry stuff. If it's dry, add wet stuff.
Lol the pumping of the faucet and just so you know the bucket full of magazines is a poor people's Toilet paper. You make me laugh every episode keep up the excellent content
Very fun... the heat here in Los Angeles is adding to the ambience 😎
Sara, you always amaze me on your trips with envy. Take care out there.
Such wonderful discoveries, Wonderhussy! Your adventures are so inspiring, as well as you are inspiring for doing what you do. Thanks!
That place is beautiful! Definitely one day the nicest you've visited 👍🏻🌞🌞🌞🌞
glass = bottle. Nothing wrong with that. Lots of laughs again and great photography as usual.
That was a good one made me smile all the way to the end. Stay safe.
It definitely looks like a hunting cabin for someone.
20:02 If that says Colton Oregon my best friend had property there and that's only about 48 minutes away from me. Just fun for some odd reason to see people from the area you live in/at super random places.
K Digiacomo my brother lives in Colton 🤗
Looks like a working cabin, for roundups ! They most likely bring a generator to run the well pump and propane bottles with them. Cool video, Sarah Jane!
always enjoy your adventures..
Pretty cool cabin & spot...I always enjoyed exploring the Ghost Towns of the West...✌🏻
Fun adventure. Thanks for posting.
I like flintstone shelves too. Love your vids!
I was there in June 2017. At that time the door was padlocked and there was a sign on the door indicating it was private property and offering phone numbers to call if you wanted to camp there.
I believe it is a line camp also, used by ranchers at round up time. Take care and Stay safe Wonderhussy!!!
Stay awesome our desert muse.
That could be something like a line cabin for when they go up and round up their cattle cuz it's got the Corral there
Love your stuff lady !!!
I have found Mylar balloons in some of the most remote places in the Southwest while hiking and backpacking.
Omg I just love u girl! Heading out to do my first glamp attempt up in Wisconsin after watching ur tips I found in another vid that led me to u !
It sure would be nice to know who built those places and what they did.
The blue handle you pulled up higher would probably have produced water that is a new type of faucet that is used that does not freeze in the winter time so you can have water without broken water lines.
My dog farted right when you went in the out house, so I felt like I was right there with you.
More Hussy-fun! Thanks S.
That one a beaut! Thanks Jim BCC AZ.
Wonderhussy I enjoy your adventures desert have a great time doing it
Such a great find! Great effort went into that adobe walled stone cabin....Thanks Wonderhussy,,,keep going and show us the country!......Thanks!
Spider popcorn looks like spider eggs to me. As a owner of arachnids 🕸🕷. Wonderful video👍
That's probably one of the nicest cabins I've seen you explore yet! Man that didn't get put together overnight, someone put a lot of work into that.
