All of their claims about being eco-friendly and mess free are lies and gel ball is no replacement for Nerf
@@Kysnow7 mess free? no way. Ecologically speaking, those pellets were used as growth medium before someone decided "hmmm jelly ball go splat!". Nerf foam herf derts or rival rounds are my preference though the foam they are made from isn't environmentally friendly at all. Just different beasts :)
I like how with the surge you can dual wield because of the switch, going between a cool looking semi auto and a practical full auto

It’s a minor point but the Gelfire’s removable battery is definitely better. All batteries decay and being able to swap it so quickly is a big win for long-term reliability
Is it completely impossible to remove the battery from the gel blaster Surge?
@@CTBrixno but you have to take apart the whole blaster to even get to that battery
however, one cannot find a replacement mythic battery - I've tried, even contacted Hasbro - they replied that isn't available separately.
@@CTBrixyou have to take apart the gel blaster, even so you have to do it without damaging the internals and you most likely have to solder things
@@zpvnrtit’s a type of lipo battery. Some time at least. But it’s definitely a lipo.
Just an FYI, acoustic FPS measurement may be more useful for these blasters that have a 'splurt' of goo that accompanies the projectile. Optical sensors get confuzzled, acoustic (set distance, calculate for speed based on audio) only registers the ones that hit. Love ur content. maybe im just high but you make me smile.
That's a great idea. Trying to find one that isn't car payment expensive.
@@WalcomS7 if you have an android phone, there are some physics toolbox suites that do it automatically though a known range and a little math is enough for stuff in the sub 300fps range. Phyphox is one that can automatically calculate IIRC - lots of cool tools if you have an old samsung S7 (or s2 tablet i guess). I don't know about apple though there's probably equiv available for that garbage :P

One is a compact yet reliable gel blaster with a confortable pistol
and the other is the mythic
in that it is mythically rare to impress someone who's used a surge before.

I mean why would you buy the Nerf Gelfire mythic when you can buy 2 gel blasters that give you way more accessories from a totally different company and pay for the international shipping of those 2 blasters with the same amount?
@@elementxxrider or go the gatlingtommy route and design a six-barreled rotary mechanism for a gel blaster styled in the likes of an XM556 with a big ol' 18-volt li-po battery and a bigger ol' container for the gellets.
it should be a bit easier to design because the gel is self-lubricating so you just need a lift mechanism without having to design a proprietary belt feed like the MOAB nerf equivalent.
Also, they both look like SMGs from Mass Effect. The Surge looks like the M-4 Shuriken from ME2/3 while the Mythic looks like the N7 Hurricane from ME3. Odd coincidence, but I love it.

Hardly a comparison, the Mythic is a SMG, while the Surge is a Machine Pistol.

Im standing in the toy aisle at target watching this video, and I have to say, the Gel Blaster reminds me a lot of the Needler from Halo, and I wish they had purple ones.

you got lucky with your surge walcom , just to say , many others have had major issues with the surge jamming
I have two of them here, actually; both of them perform well. Meanwhile I've had two NERF Gelfire Mythics, and both jam constantly... probably why they redesigned it with a smaller hopper in the Mr. Beast version.
I have 4 gel blasters and 4 mythic. And the mythic jam WAY more than the gel blasters... the hopper for the mythic having a flat bottom does it no favors and the proprietary screw for the hopper means you can't easily install a more standard hopper

I slapped a surge spring in the mythic and got it hitting the same distances as the surge, also I took a heat gun and gave the hopper a slight "feed angle" so it wasn't just flat on the bottom and that solved most of the jams I was having. So if you wanna put a little bit of work in, the mythic is just as viable as the surge.
The thing is why would you have to put in works for a more expensive blaster so that it can shoot like the cheaper one. Just buy the cheaper one, period

Gel Blaster probably felt comfortable sponsoring the video because at worst Walcom would have said something like "it's basically the same thing as the Mythic but ten bucks cheaper" which is still a W for them.

Can you review the Nerf Gelfire Legion? I feel like the Legion gives some nice bang for buck being so cheap. It's easy to excuse some faults for a lower price.

Why do so many people put it on backwards? I do wish the bottom of the hopper was a bit more directed towards the feed.

I just got my mythic and now I am watching vids on it making me love it more
both use gravity as feeding power right?This is less advanced and more prone to "no shoot" compared to better models like the pulsar pro or the x shot hpg 700 which use another motor on magazine so as to feed constantly and always and reliably.right?

Removable is great. You can swap batteries. After 1yr or 2 batteries lose juice. So you easily replace for new one
I like nerf mythic more.

Removable battery is way better, the nerve looks better, the misfire issues may be ammo and not the gun

I'm on the fence. My local Walmart has the gel fire is only $30 and 10,000 gel shots are $3. Shouldni pick it up. Can you shoot these inside?
They leave such a mess indoors. Would not recommend.
My opinion on gel ball is it doesn't really have a place as a hobby right now and I'm fine with people playing with them as long as they don't bring it to Nerf wars
Blame NERF for literally ruining everything by making a nerf gel blaster. Before it was easy, but they went and branded one.
@@WalcomS7 I agree with the statement that Nerf is going in the wrong direction with Elite 2.0 and Nerf Pro but I also believe the rest of the hobby should not have to suffer because of the name brand Nerfs mistakes I'm not trying to kill gel ball but I just believe it should be its own separate hobby instead of being forced into the Nerf space

I do just wish the Surge had a visible orange tip. Both are largely colored to be safe but i do still think that would be nice.
You can take green part off on the front and use the high velocity barrel to make the orange tip more visible

Just got my son the Mythic for his birthday and my parents got him the Surge. The only thing I like about the Nurff gun is the battery. Damn thing jams more than it shoots. I got my butt kicked by a 8 year old.
I just want an answer to which water bead gun charges the easiest without opening up, sitting the battery door to the side *to be lost and taking a batter out and con3nxting it to a charger. Which one chargers without taking something off and sitting g it to thebside to be lost. That's so annoying. I jist want easy charge or to replace batteries, shut the battery door and move on or nothing come apart
Gel Blaster's battery is not removable. You charge it by just plugging the charger into a port on the blaster itself.

While the surge is mechanically much much better, it was unfair, despite the lack of sights on either, to discount how beneficial it is to have a stock.

This is rubbish, Mr Beast is clearly lying! I ordered the Nerf Pro Gelfire X Mr Beast Blaster! the thing only doesn't shoot 2-3 meters more! it is useless. You don't shoot the balls one at a time in a row, but completely mixed up, sometimes double, triple, or none at all!
Any kind of sponsorship means automatic dislike from me. Sorry not sorry.
