For someone who isn't comfortable with the business side of things it was incredible to have a resource that was confident and reassuring. I would agree, I think any business can benefit from it.

Perfect. I appreciate the feedback. I will add this to my list of ideas. This year has been a balancing act for me. I didn't expect to do this YT channel and with how successful my business has been for me this year finding time to produce these video on top of everything else I do has been a challenge. So I appreciate you taking the time. Cheers!

Thats another good idea. Kinda of a full walk-through of the process. I will keep an eye out for a listing I can do this on. I have one client in mind who would be a good one to do this with. Not sure I would like record the phone call but I can go over the order, how I put it in the systems, schedule it, and then do a full kinda behind the scenes. Good stuff!

Hey Will, have you had experience with clients who see the final images differently as you because they have a different RGB display from their devices? Off color, too washed look vs too dark look? Any suggestions on how to mitigate that?

Oh man this one sucks. Color is such a subjective thing, even before you get into the science of it. Displays can be brutal. I will put this down as a note for a video to dive deeper but one thing I have done is I have learned to edit for Iphone. I have an Ipad Pro for my Cubicasa and Matterport Apps and I spend a few days editing photos and testing them out on the Ipad to see how they looked vs what my monitor showed. I think the biggest thing I have done is to lean towards more neutral editing. I use neutral camera profiles, I use only the medium contrast tone curves for contrast and I only do 5-10+ on saturation to keep it under control. Also using the histogram and keeping things "ETTR" Exposed To The Right of the histogram keeps everything similar. Doing things this way I have not run into any issues.

@@WillGayPhoto Really appreciate you taking out the time to reply. I came to a similar conclusion these last couple of days. Read something like that most iphones after iphone 6 are 99% accurate or more and since most people have iphones. chances are they'll see the images how you intend. I live in Colombia so it's monitors and phones of all sorts but it's good to know iphone/ipad can be a good reference point. I guess setting those expectations with the client from the very start would help as well lol.

I have a content idea. Let's talk cameras as this is our primary tool. I currently use a Nikon D7500 and it's ok for a lot of types of photography. 7 fps, 20.9mp, and some pro features, I can use it for shooting rugby and it's ok for real estate but it's not great. I want to upgrade but what do I choose? Do I jump into the Z mount or get an older D800? What MP's do I need for real estate photography? If I upgrade to the new Z6iii will 24.5 MPs be enough or should I get an older Z7?
Sorry for the word salad, I was typing off the top of my head.

20mp is more than enough for real estate. Remember where a majority of those images are going, online. They aren't getting blown up and printed on canvas. I use a Panasonic GH5 which is MFT and my clients are thrilled with the results. Sure, I could go get a nice, full frame updated camera to really help widen my view, but I use the tools I have effectively and focus my attention on to making sure my clients are happy and their needs are met.
If you are looking to upgrade because it's in the budget and you think it will give your images a boost from where you currently are, either of those should be just fine! Your lens choice will have a larger impact than the body overall.

@@Swing4TheRing Fair enough. I have the Tamron 10-24 and it is a bit soft.

@@TribodybyVi I use the Rokinon 12mm f2.0 with my GH5 and also think it's a little soft, but my clients all seem to like their results. I considered getting the Sony A7iii since it's on massive sale right now and would put me in full frame category, but then I'm also needing all new glass and that gets $$$.
So I'm thinking just adding a new lens (Laowa 7.5mm) to my current lineup and giving that a go. Also, I already know my GH5 settings and how I like to handle it, so there would not be any new learning curve. Best of luck on your choice!

Don't be sorry. This is what I want to know! I've work professionally in almost every type of photography you can think of. I struggle with content sometimes because I want to keep it to areas you guys would find helpful. Plus there are a million other people who talk about cameras and gear etc. But I would happy to talk about it. I actually just got my Z6III yesterday. I will add this to my list!
And to throw my 2 cents in. I think full frame should be the standard. Getting started DX or APS-C is fine. But full frame is just better in so many ways (noise, ISO, DR, IQ, Focal Length, etc). 20MP would be the lowest I would go when buying any camera. Its stil larger than 4k resolution but for pictures it does start to feel a little too shallow in terms of resolution. If all you are doing is jumping up to full frame and you cannot afford the latest and greatest (z8, z7II, z6III) an OG Z7 or Z6 would be perfectly fine. Hell I just today retired my OG Z7 as my main camera. I would 100% go for Zmount. F mount will not be developed anymore, at least in any professional capacity and putting money into something that doesn't have a long life for the future isn't something I would reccomend.
Thank you for tkaing the time!

"but I use the tools I have effectively and focus my attention on to making sure my clients are happy and their needs are met."
THIS. So important. We can get so caught up in gear that you can miss this part entirely. I am a big "feels" type of photographer. I hate things that don't feel right to use. Its why I dislike Sony cameras. They don't feel right in the hand. But knowing how to use what you have and what you are comfortable with is so much more important than brand name, sensor size, focal length etc.
      Very well said.
