Move the third-row seat 1in forward, cut the side mounts, and re-weld them back. cut the front mount 1 in and re-drill the hole. this will give you more storing space when you riding with less than 5 people. simple and easy to re-do. also store the jack below the third seat for easier access. Omg this is sooo cool. Im currently looking into buying another jeep and this is a great idea. Question though, is this even legal?? If u get pulled over and such
Great job! May I suggest that you have the nuts welded on to the plates and the plates welded to the frame. This way it would be easier to remove that seat frame. You can carry a battery powered impact with you in case you need the jack. Also you may be able to cut the long bracket that goes to the second row bolt and install a heavy duty hinge. This way you only have to remove to two rear bolts. Just a thought. Again great job. Love the Jeep.

I wrote an article about it and new people had been installing a third seat, but I had not seen it done yet. This is great. I really like what you have done. Clearly your kids will remember your adventures and the Jeep! I have a Grand Wagoneer because my Grandfather had one and we used to take vacations in it. I'm looking now for another Wrangler... Oh and my father is dying to find an RV to go travel.
Loosen the shoulder straps and tighten the lap belt to bring it lower if needed to keep it off their stomach area. Just found out we will have four 4 and under. I started looking at swapping my trucks front center console for a jump seat. Guess what, the safety police instantly share their opinions. You’re kids are just as safe in the back of your Jeep as someone driving an SUV. There are pros/cons to everything and anyone who says you’re not being safe should consider things like the amount of glass that will shatter in their factory 3rd row SUV. Good job!
I’m glad you did a very safe job & great looking also. I will add do not let your kids think the roll bar is a thing to hold on too. Very dangerous if you did roll & they grab that . So i suggest getting two paracord type grab handles that mount on the front head rests. Make them grab them instead. Thanks
Since the kids are so small you may want to take an idea from backpacks and create a simple chest strap to keep the shoulder straps from slipping off their shoulders. Regardless of how reasonably snug you make the straps, there just isn’t enough little person there to keep the harness tight.
@@LoftisPartyofSix ur welcome, I have a 2014 Ford F150 4x4 and I mounted an emergency tool box in the bed because I didn't want tools in the cab if I had a roll over. I rolled a car in the early 70's and things do fly around so I have always kept this in mind.
Glad it helped!! One thing I would do differently is move the seat more to the right or up an inch or two so that when the seat lays flat I can shut the tailgate. Other than that I love it!
You did a great job, I’m impressed. I think if it was me I would tried to get the seat frame redone so that you could close the gate with the seat down and access the jack. But that May take too much leg room. We have a big family and I love how your making things work for you all.
Thank you for making such a thorough video! I’ve been searching for info on how to do this since we got our Rv/Jeep for the same thing. I love your videos and your family is precious. you guys are certainly living the dream! Keep the videos comin!
You should also do the mod where you mount regular front seats on the second row. The middle seat is worthless, so there's that. That also gives an egress point to the front of the jeep.
Michael this is awesome! Job well done sir. My husband is going to be excited and want to do this with his. His first vehicle was a Jeep Wrangler, it’s been in his grandparents barn for awhile now. I don’t think we could fit a family of 7 though 😢 Good luck with it. Happy Adventures Thanks for sharing 💕
Wow... pretty cool! Now my GF will never leave me alone about wanting a Jeep with our 2 kids! I had her pretty much convienced it was never gonna happen. Now I’m starting it like it myself! AWD SUV’s just don’t have the same capabilities as true 4x4’s! Pretty awesome tho! Congrats on the new mods! Now let’s see if off road with all The kidos! I bet it will be a blast!
K02s are great! (Got a pair of 35s myself on my Rubi JLU). But I've seen them pop if you hit the wrong (or right?) rock off roading. Good info on this vid! Thanks!
Nice job as far as shutting the back door just have them re-weld the bracket and move it to the right which would also be better because you don’t have to open the back door tailgate as much for the kids to get in
Great video, my husband also drives a Jeep Rubi! I watched out of order and was wondering how 4 kids sat in a Jeep. Lol wranglers have zero trunk space anyway so can’t wait to see what you end up with. Enjoy!
@@LoftisPartyofSix I could definitely see that, The third row on my Land Rover Discovery has a little more room but not much. 😅 Unfortunately it is quite a bit heavier. You did awesome though.
As for storage, keep it simple and go with a hitch carrier. Cheap and easy and plenty of room for a grocery trip or cooler. You can’t off-road with a hitch mount one (zero departure angle!) but it’ll get you to the store and back.
I wouldn’t recommend it. Puts a lot of weight on the rear end, and brings the front suspension up some, resulting in death wobble. Happened constantly with a hitch carrier with all our cargo on a 13’ Jeep Rubicon Unlimited.
We’ve had a hitch carrier for years and have used it for multiple long-range trips across the country and thousands of miles with absolutely no issues pre and post lift.
Mount a high lift jack on the front bumper. If you plan on any true off roaring roading you'll be glad you have the high lift jack - can't count all the times and reasons we used ours during our jeeping years.
Nice job. Not sure if it has been mentioned or if you thought about it but put some padding on the rear rollbar on the side angles. In the event of a side impact heads can move greatly in one direction or another and you want to make sure those are padded.
Nice video and thanks for sharing this upgrade. Also you should try taking off the top with the gate closed so that the giant tire is not on your way. I'm a short person and I had to learn this quick.

Good job!
Thank you 😊
I’m glad you did a very safe job & great looking also. I will add do not let your kids think the roll bar is a thing to hold on too. Very dangerous if you did roll & they grab that . So i suggest getting two paracord type grab handles that mount on the front head rests. Make them grab them instead. Thanks
Good tip.. thanks
Love love love !!! I also have 4 children and thought getting a jeep would be so out of the question. Thank you so much for sharing !
Thanks for watching!!
Since the kids are so small you may want to take an idea from backpacks and create a simple chest strap to keep the shoulder straps from slipping off their shoulders. Regardless of how reasonably snug you make the straps, there just isn’t enough little person there to keep the harness tight.
Great idea!! Thanks
Great job on this Jeep tour! It looks fantastic and it’s obvious that you covered all the safety features you need. Have fun with your new adventures!
Thank you 😊
Just remember to install ur jack outside the Jeep some how, u don't want it flopping around in case of a roll over.
Agreed. Thanks
Kenneth C. Great point mate, I’ve seen it end really bad when it’s been inside the car
I keep coming back to your video as a template for my 3rd row installation. Thank you for showcasing!
Glad it helped!! One thing I would do differently is move the seat more to the right or up an inch or two so that when the seat lays flat I can shut the tailgate. Other than that I love it!
That looks sweet post a video of all six of you in it. Look awesome. You could always get a basket to slide into the 2" receiver.
Thank you 😊
From one Loftis to another - impressive engineering project. 👍
Thanks 😎
You did a great job, I’m impressed. I think if it was me I would tried to get the seat frame redone so that you could close the gate with the seat down and access the jack. But that May take too much leg room. We have a big family and I love how your making things work for you all.
I might do something to change it in the future but for now it will work.
Great job with the Rubicon modification. You guys are going to have so much fun with it.
Thank you
Thank you for making such a thorough video! I’ve been searching for info on how to do this since we got our Rv/Jeep for the same thing. I love your videos and your family is precious. you guys are certainly living the dream! Keep the videos comin!
Thank you
Great job man! I’ll be looking for a welder! I have a 2017 JKU, and we’re Rowe, Party of 7! My kids would love this!
Great work. Understand few things which can and cant work when we put the third row.
You should also do the mod where you mount regular front seats on the second row. The middle seat is worthless, so there's that. That also gives an egress point to the front of the jeep.
Great Jeep dad! Wish I had this option when my boys were young.. great video
Thank you!
Awesome modifications and kudos to putting safety first!!
I watched this video when came out didn’t own Jeep but was thing of getting now have a jl. Love it stock now....
That looks so awesome, good job!!! Can't wait to watch the adventures to come in it!!
Thank you 😊
Awsome! We have 4 kiddos and are full time as well. Hubby has always wanted a jeep.
Thank you 😊
What a beautiful family. I love your videos and your choice of music is great. Thank you.
Thank you 😊
Great job designing your setup. Quality construction. And it will grow with your kids.
We had 7 in ours yesterday! A friends kid sit between the 2 car seats in the middle row. Thanks for watching
Wow... pretty cool! Now let’s see if off road with all
The kidos! I bet it will be a blast!
Thank you
You did a great job to protect your kids! Awesome!
Thank you
Father of 4 Jeep dream just got resurrected thanks
😎👍
Amazing job on the third row! We are also a family of 6. I would love to add a third row down the road. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!!
K02s are great! (Got a pair of 35s myself on my Rubi JLU). But I've seen them pop if you hit the wrong (or right?) rock off roading. Good info on this vid! Thanks!
This was so cool and creative, I would’ve never known I could put a 3rd row in. Def a new subscriber!
Thank you 😊
This looks awesome and is very reassuring! Have fun! I'm excited for you all!
One of the best I've seen!
Cool idea you came up with, with the jeep. Have fun and stay safe
Thank you
Nice job as far as shutting the back door just have them re-weld the bracket and move it to the right which would also be better because you don’t have to open the back door tailgate as much for the kids to get in
Thank you
Michael, GREAT JOB my friend! Very well thought out and planned. I believe them babies will be just fine. ( Don't forget your jack!) Lol
Thank you 👍
Hey thanks for posting. I would love to see an update on this. Thinking of doing something similar.
We no longer have the Jeep. We as a family outgrew it. But we loved it and miss it!
Great video, my husband also drives a Jeep Rubi! I watched out of order and was wondering how 4 kids sat in a Jeep. Lol wranglers have zero trunk space anyway so can’t wait to see what you end up with. Enjoy!
Thanks for watching
Looks amazing! You did a great job! Such a good looking Jeep! I love how the kids are as excited as y’all are!
Thank you!! Yep they love it!!
That is really cool, thanks for sharing! There is a lot more leg room than I expected.
Thanks!! Yes it’s perfect for kids.. adults would be crammed.
@@LoftisPartyofSix I could definitely see that, The third row on my Land Rover Discovery has a little more room but not much. 😅 Unfortunately it is quite a bit heavier.
You did awesome though.
So cool! I always wished that those wranglers would just come standard with third rows 🙄
👍
Loftis Party of Six - weROAM , you ought to talk your welder into making his frames in his spare time.
Agreed. I'd put an order in immediately.
As for storage, keep it simple and go with a hitch carrier. Cheap and easy and plenty of room for a grocery trip or cooler. You can’t off-road with a hitch mount one (zero departure angle!) but it’ll get you to the store and back.
Thanks for the suggestion.
Thanks!! I do plan on getting one at some point!
L KJ why the front bumper? I have been thinking about getting one but not sure where to put it
@@Whiteandsonsgarage We mounted it there because there was room and it was easy to get to.
Nice job. Not sure if it has been mentioned or if you thought about it but put some padding on the rear rollbar on the side angles. In the event of a side impact heads can move greatly in one direction or another and you want to make sure those are padded.
Yes I’m looking for a padding like the rest of the Jeep has. Thanks
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻wow amazing! We are a family of 6 as well And now more than ever I want a Jeep 😩
Nice video and thanks for sharing this upgrade. Also you should try taking off the top with the gate closed so that the giant tire is not on your way. I'm a short person and I had to learn this quick.
Thanks
Also I’m a small youtuber I started posting yesterday!!!But other then that I also like that you actually respond to you fans and stuff!❤️🤍
Good luck with your channel & yes we try to reply back to our viewers.
Loftis Party of Six - weROAM that is so good if I grow mine up I would do the same
That’s awesome setup! I’ve had to think about having a third row seat, and if I do I’ll definitely will be reviewing your video again.
Thanks
