I think the Freudian Excuse for Hope getting the dramatically slow turn is because she uses Pym Particles, which gives her some resistance or understanding of the Quantum Viris. It seems like a good excuse, but an excuse nonetheless.

that "convenient" timing for the hulk is literally how the hulk works, if banner is gonna die, it forces a transformation, saving him, him not transforming the rest of the time is dumb, but this part is accurate

Well the hulk comes out when banner is A. In danger or B. Angry, banner was saved before the danger portions became too close and banner is scared/wigged out.... Not angry tho

One major plothole you missed was how the main group living in suspended train cars was completely pointless considering zombie Iron Man can fly and Doctor Strange could just teleport inside.
I guess iron man didn't want to leave them behind and was a little too confident in his weapons, and then apparently, his vibranium nanotech armor was penetrated by zombie teeth or they probably ripped it out. And now because Iron Man was pathetically infected, there is a flying zombie with strong armor that even the air isn't safe
The only reason for Vison to feed Wanda was a reference to the comics, since in the comic it worked like how the zombies in Return of the Livinf Dead did, where it was a unending hunger they felt, and when they ate they would gain their sense of self and their thinking skills back for a time, and it was the comic Antman who did something similar, but he was feeding himself as a zombie so he could try to find a cure.

When I saw Tchalla get overrun earlier, I was a bit annoyed considering it is vibranium armor, but I was glad he survived. But Iron Man however should've survived too.

This one line is funny because it shows off their relationship at this point in the franchise, but I feel that it sums up the episode as a whole. We saw a good number of our favorite heroes die in front of us and I think I felt bad for one or two of them.
@@dylansharp8471 Corect me if I'm wrong, but as of this movie (Infinity War), Sam and Bucky had a reluctant relationship with each other. They were both friends with Steve and that was where it ended. The times they interacted together were more hostile than friendly banter. As for feeling bad some of them died, I don't feel we got the time to morn the fallen. When happy got turned, it was more of a joke with him still saying "Blam." When Sharon turned, we were more focused on the Cap/Bucky fight and when we got back to Sheron, it was another joke. We've seen that Bucky can survive a great fall and that The Hulk's skin can't be broken by the zombies, so theose two I really don't worry about. The only two that I really cared about was Hope and Okoye. As for the Zombie Avengers, they just felt like minibosses. One shows up, we see who it is, they are killed, we say something, and we move on. We needed a longer episode and less quips to take in the deaths.

Got excited for Marvel Zombies, and it's just regular zombies who sometimes remember how to do stuff... They didn't even give the Zombies the quipping ability they were so fond of. THEY HAVE THAT IN MARVEL ZOMBIES. Marvel Zombies in the comics were basically zombies who were still sort of people, a bit like the 'braaaaains' crowd. they eat people out of addiction, they think, they talk, they make plans, some want to cure themselves, some want to spread the disease almost religiously, some even have their powers change!
Even in the crossover with Ash Williams, zombies Wolverine say to the Necronomicon that they also go to the bathroom, after that, he gives the book to hulk so they can use it like....toilet papel There is really worse fates than death

The web thing isn't hard to believe because, as you said, he just redoes them. However, Spider-man has never had super hearing as his natural power. You're thinking of Spider-sense, a premonition ability. The MCU, for some reason, wanted him to not have this ability at the start and something he develops over time (see Far From Home for example).
I feel like ant man's constant joking was the only one that made sense, he's already a head in a jar and everyone you loved is dead at that point he has no reason to take anything seriously and the humor to cope makes sense.
Weren't Scott and Hope together though? She literally died minutes before they reached the compound, you'd think he'd at least grieve for a few moments after hearing of her death.
My guess is Antman was shrunk enough to slip through the armor. Like how in Endgame when they traveled back to 2012 to get the space stone. They could have explained this, but with the amount of time they had; they had to put either explanation or jokes and they obviously went with jokes
if the zombies retain memories on how to use their weapons on suits, how come tony didn't put up his helmet and make his suit tight enough to keep out even the smallest of bugs? it would've been cool to see the zombie iron man survive this attack and all the others before being set up as the final antagonist along with thanos. at this point, he does have the nano suit which definitely could fight off attackers like larger bugs
Actually it's worse when you consider that Tony always improves his suit based on previous battles. So considering he had already fought Antman and experienced him breaching his suit, 9 times out of 10 he'd had already had an upgrade in that suit to prevent that.
The only way I can see iron man being infected is by captain america, he's mostly likely the only one with the strength to break that armor open enough and allow someone like ant man to crawl inside after the suit had been damaged. But even that couldn't save how bad this episode was with it's plot holes.

18:35 What makes this even worse is that they do that in the fucking comic it's based off of. In the comic, it's explained that the zombies, if not fed for long enough don't starve but rather get over the hunger and realize it's just an illusion. Janet Van Dyne is infected but gets her head cut off and stuffed into a jar (What they were referencing with ant-man) and eventually when she realizes the hunger is just an illusion, is given a robotic body by the survivors who saved her. She fights alongside them against the other infected as proof that there is coming back from what has happened. What makes it worse is that, in my opinion, she's one of the best characters in the story next to spiderman and Ant-Man. So yeah, in my head cannon they are given 5 Sins since they could've done a clever illusion to one of the best characters from the comics but refused.

Hank is a very smart individual, probably smarter than Stark, and in the comics the FF were stuck in the Ultimate Universe for a while so it makes one of the smartest zombies would become the leader.
I agree with how stupid tony turned into a zombie. He could literally tell E.D.I.T.H to destroy the entire bridge with missiles and gun them down with drones.
And he could've flown above the bridge away from the zombies. And bombed them himself. Remember he's wearing the mark 50. A suit he could make missiles from. And he could've called on all the armors he'd made since the start of Age Of Ultron.
Yeah, I like What if, but I didn’t really like this episode as much as the other ones. I liked the premise, I love me a post apocalypse scenario, whether it be post zombie apocalypse or nuclear apocalypse, but yeah this episode could have been done better. The zombies, especially the heroes, are so inconsistent that it actually hurts.
Agreed, and looking at other Marvel zombies stuff it constantly feels like they are trying to kill off the title with all the awful comics that came after 'Marvel zombies return'. Even the big reboot 'Marvel zombies ressurection' wasn't that good, it feels more like they want super zombies in the background to use as a gimmick but don't actually want to write any decent zombie stories.
I just thought the whole series as a whole was mediocore. Episode 1 was peggy's impressive ng+ any% speedrun of cap 1, and 5 was just......inconsistent. How did thanos turn? He has skin like hulk too, and is in fact much stronger than hulk. Iron Man's death was somehow even worse.
I thought the episode was squandered potential even though I enjoyed it. Really I’m just impressed this was even made under the Disney banner. But I figured they would scrub away all the darker elements to protect brand image and appeal to the kids they probably wanna avoid traumatizing.

@@alpha-1redrighthand829 Not a big fan of Resurrections, I feel that it spent too much time focusing on the mystery of the zombies and the timeskip over the outbreak was unsatisfying. If I had to suggest another zombie like marvel comic I suggest taking a look a the 'Last Gun on Earth' series (Marvel Universe vs The Punisher, Marvel Universe vs Wolverine, and Marvel Universe vs The Avengers), has a satisfying coverage of the outbreak and gives a neat look into how people survive/handle this scenario.
I don't think Thanos would be snapping everyone into zombies, I think he's going to snap and make them all human so he can eat them. Then when everyone's back as zombies, he'll do the snap again.
Would Jarvis really have allowed Iron Man to go around killing people? They totally missed out on having Iron Man either be a hero, but silent, the whole time and then they find out it's Jarvis controlling the suit with a zombie Stark inside it, or finding him entombed in his own suit.
Is it possible zombie antman could have found some kind of opening in iron mans armor to infect him? Ant man infecting iron man is the only reason I can think of in terms of how he got infected.
This is after civil war. Tony would have definitely upgraded his suits so what Scott did to his armor couldn't happen again. There's also no way zombies are tearing off the helmet that can take blasts from the IG & have a moon fall on it

This isn't really a "What if" thing. This is just a zombie story they wanted to tell. What if the MCU was overwhelmed by a quantum zombie Plague? 1.) The Avengers wouldn't set down in a heavily infested zone just to fight off a few zombies, they would he looking for a cure. They're not just a fighting force, they're a global threat initiative. 2.) Iron Man would be THE LAST person turned... probably in the entire universe. Not only is he completely sealed away from the outside world in his very very bite proof armor, he has nanomachines in his blood that he could use to counter the infection. 3.) Tony would have a bio-disaster contingency, with bio-containment suits for each Avenger. They are the most important as they have the tools to reverse the damage. The people that wrote this don't know the MCU at all. They just thought of a fanfic and labeled it "What if...". Boooo 0/10
I’m surprised to see they made the comic an animated thing. Marvel tends to stay away from darker scenarios including blood. Though I guess this is more “inspired by” their own comic
One thing to note about the original comic run that started this whole concept was that the infected became twisted in mind from the constant hunger and tend to talk in a dark humorous way, showing how much of their humanity gets reduced to ravenous cannibals with a sense of humor and sadism, Giant Man with huge emphasis on the latter.

Honestly I’m just impressed this sort of thing was made under the Disney banner. I feel like studio heads would be hesitant to depicting childhood heroes as flesh eating monsters. Though blood and gore was never on the table I feel like.
I can understand your annoyance at how Peter is acting, but it's honestly something consistent that's been going on throughout the comics and shows and, to a smaller extent, the MCU The reason Peter does so many quips and such when fighting villains is because he's scared, scared he might fail or even die, so he uses humor and especially quips as a coping mechanism to deal with that, so that people will think he has everything under control and even to convince himself everything is fine. The MCU version does do this to a smaller extent as he has yet to truly become Spider-Man, but I'm betting a zombie outbreak killing his loved ones and father figure, would probably bring out that side of him

6:58 the real sin is that they didn’t stay that size. In the marvel universe, becoming smaller comes with the benefit of increased durability, speed etc(basically ant-man powers) because it’s the same tech. Not keeping in that form is the sinful shit because they lost their advantage when most of them have no powers
iron man should not have been infected, his strengths have always been adaptation, range, an evasion. he would not have faced an overwhelming ground based force on the ground without so much as even wearing a mask. it kinda annoyed me that every main avenger was just offed immediately to tell the story they wanted too, personally i wouldve liked to seen a survivors guilt tony, or a captain america who failed (which i concede is less likely, his whole thing is cqc and never surrendering)

The same thing that took, moon pieces being slammed into it, Thanos punching it over and over and then a power stone infused to break permanently. Cap himself would have trouble breaking it. Considering Thanos could punch him (Cap) once and down him. And Thanos punched so hard BP's suit had to release the kinetic force. What I'm saying is. Tony had a nanotech arsenal on him, also had several armors, E.D.I.T.H, Friday and his armor could take unbelievable force

I would say that Ebony Maw's sadistic nature carried over after his zombification. So when he lifts Bruce into the air he wants to induce as much fear as possible before killing him.
To be fair, when Happy was shot with an arrow, sometimes it takes a while to feel the pain if it happens ao fast. I experienced getting a cut before, no pain for a few seconds to a minute just numb, but after like 1min the pain is felt.

also in regards to Hopes death, in Antman & The Wasp It was explained that when someone grows to giant size the Air becomes harder to breathe which makes the person pass out from a lack of oxygen. When she fell into the horde she didn’t die she just passed out that's why she didn’t fight back as much. I hope I cleared this up ok for you :)
The biggest thing for me is how Spiderman doesn't realise the zombies getting up to him. The guy can FEEL THE VIBRATIONS IN DISTURBANCES IN THE AIR FROM MORE THAN A DOZEN METERS AWAY, yet he can't notice the zombies shambling towards him?!
The actual comic marvel zombies make more sense because everyone maintains most of their intelligence and its spreads super fast after quicksilver is bitten
im really disappointed with this episode, my original impression of the series was having the same grounded heros from the movies in alternate timelines, but you never got that here, nothing about the gravity of the situation is ever addressed and everyone takes it like a joke. theres a reason you never see these jokes being made after serious events in the movies, and thats because they take you right out of them

Doesn’t work as a horror story, because they insist on using that trademark Marvel humor to break any sense of tension over their knee, and never really let it sink in how catastrophic it is that some of the most powerful beings on earth are now flesh-hungry undead. Also, not enough gore. I get that it’s being marketed to a younger audience, and Disney likes to keep things squeaky clean, but this is a story that desperately needs more blood and guts. Zombies are a very visceral brand of horror. Doesn’t work as a regular story because the pacing is bad, and characters take turns holding the Dumbass Tetrahedron (TM) because the writers don’t know how to advance the plot in a way that makes any logical sense (not that Marvel Zombies is innocent in this regard. Looking at you, Reed Richards). It’s a mess.

Haven't watched the episode yet, but how tf did iron man get jobbed so easily by generic zombie no. 35? His infinitely weaker older armors had the durability to withstand shield helicarrier blades, and just got scratched. The episode as a whole was very mediocore despite some cool moments.
@@weaboodoo2346 unlikely. He could barely defeat iron man with the help of bucky, and that was on a much less capable armor. I'm pretty sure this armor doesn't leave his arc reactor exposed anymore. The only way iron man could be taken out is zombie thanos, and that would never be able to happen if they stood by their rules. Characters like bleeding edge armor Iron Man, Black Panther, and Thanos were just too op, and they couldn't afford to pay RDJ, so they just jobbed him in the worst way possible.
@@weaboodoo2346 just in case you don't know, that armor has kinda regenerative capabilities. It's made of nanotechnology. The regeneration is limited, but cap would have to land a shit ton of throws to really expose Tony, and one decent blast can end zombie cap right there.

I still itch my head about of how Zombie Cap and Zombie Hawk eye somehow got to New york from San Francisco. I doubt they might know how to operate vehicles. And I wonder of how the avengers are reformed (with Black Panther them, I remember that there's no refrence wanting to be part of the avengers) again for some reason after the events of Civil war
I still itch my head on how iron man can get infected and how cap can get infected when his super soldier serum makes him immune to viruses and how did doctor strange and wing get infected wouldn’t they have a spell that can undo all of this and protect themselves and everyone from getting infected
4:30 I think is where the iron man complaints come in. And I 1,000% agree that, a human literally covered in some of the most durable materials on the planet, with practically nuclear, anti tank, anti air, anti infantry and bunker busting abilities, could get overwhelmed by a simple human using 100% of their strength, since we can only use 1/3 of our strength biologically without adrenaline, and if we did we would damage our body an incredible amount which is why we have a limiter. Sure we may be able to lift a car if we were a body builder using 100% of our strength, but Tony's armor can tank BULLETS and be fine, even shot by a tank shell and completely survive it without any skin showing, which a zombie could never do. So I consider this part the absolute worst part in this episode.
Yeah Marvel has introduced such powerful characters that the only explanation for a zombie apocalypse is characters acting REALLY dumb. Several of the heroes could probably single-handedly beat a zombie outbreak. There's no reason Iron Man couldn't seal up his suit and blast the zombies from orbit, or Dr. Strange couldn't float above them and send them all to another dimension, or Vision couldn't just fly above the horde and obliterate them all with the mind stone.
Loved the video WSG, and despite it's flaws I loved this episode of Marvel What If. I do agree with a lot of people that some marvel characters wouldn't have gotten infected so easily such as Wanda, Doctor Strange, Wong, Ebony Maw, Iron Man, and Thanos, here I'll explain why some of my favorite characters would have survived and I'll tell y'all an alternate story for this episode I think would have been better. If you guys havn't seen Infinity War, or Endgame there are SPOILERS ahead so beware. Ebony Maw is the most powerful member of Thanos's black order and the most powerful of his children and one of the smartest, the reason he had to die so quickly and so easily(blow a hole in the side of his ship and suck him out into space) in Infinity War, is because if he wasn't dead he would have made the job of stopping Thanos almost impossible so they killed him off by doing something he wouldn't have expected, "Yea but the kid seen more movies". Yes he was caught off guard in the episode but once he realized what was happening ie that he was being attacked I'm not sure anyone in Thanos's army knows what a zombie is, but he could have used his powers to annihilate the three zombies quickly or incapacitate them at least he has been shown to maniulate multiple objects and targets with his telekinesis. Thanos would definitely have not gotten infected so quickly as his hide is about as tough as Hulk's and we seen zombies can't bite the Hulk he also had multiple infinity stones with him when he came to earth, him going to Wakanda like he did in the episode makes no sense either as the only reason he went to Wakanda in the movie was cause that was were the mind stone was, so since vision was in the military base and uninfected Thanos should have shown up there to take the mind stone, he also would have better known about the situation on earth, after two of his subordinates didn't return he would have researched all known threats on earth, sent recon to figure out what happened to black obsidian and Ebony Maw and strategized the situations accordingly. Ironman makes a little bit more sense actually since we seen that Ant-Man can infiltrate his suit so he still could have been infected by Hank but like WSG said Tony is an incredibly smart individual and would not have been ok with the attack on the goldengate bridge, at least he wouldn't be ok with doing it the way it was done in the episode, he would have known it was best to limit all physicle contact with the infected and attack them from a distance. Doctor Strange and Wong are in charge of a organization of magic users tasked with defending the earth and the universe from destruction, you would think that even though the zombies were caused by a more scientific explanation that the Masters of the Mystic arts would have gotten involved when corpses started walking around eating the living, and like I said before, Dr. Strange, Wong, and everyone else in the Masters of the Mystic Arts would have known and would have had the means to keep the zombies as far away as possible and take them out from a distance. For Wanda it's the same point as Strange, Ebony Maw, and Iron-man, She is smart enough to know to keep the infected away from her and has the capabilities to take them out from a distance. Now I think this episode would have been better if all the characters I just mentioned survived along with the survivors we had in the episode, like in infinity war Bruce would arrive to warn earth about thanos and Strange and Wong would be there to listen but they would also fill him in on what is happening on earth, they hear a commotion outside and see Ebony Maw and Black Obsidian out o the street. Ebony Maw would still get attacked but not by Zombie Strange, Wong, and Tony but a horde of regular zombies upon regaining his composer he would just send Black Obsidian to deal with the "disgusting creatures" trying to overwhelm them. Obsidian would get bitten and turn leading to Ebony Maw having to deal with the problem himself. Bruce gets anxious about the situation but Strange tells him they are going to need Ebony Maw if they're going to fix this whole mess. Strange and Wong teleport Ebony Maw into the Sanctum to have a chat and they propose a truse, as Ebony has seen this virus doesn't just infect humans, if this infection gets off world the whole universe could fall and Thanos's vision of a perfectly balanced universe would never come to fruition. The talks are going well when Tony shows up and begins to voice his displeasure with the plan and after what Bruce seen of Thanos he sides with Tony, Dr. Strange tries to assure them that he doesn't like the plan either and that he wouldn't even consider it if there were another option, if the universe is going to be saved they are going to need to side with Thanos and have him use the power of the infinity stones to wipe all traces of the quantum virus from existence. It is 4:35 actually and it is titanium-gold alloy armor. It is still armor, but I get your point. You probably meant, that the suit of armor isnt made out of metal and/or iron. Also Nanotech suit gets ignored, because plot.
The zombies were fodder as hell, even The Watcher said that when the avengers got infected, they were unstoppable, but they were beaten with EASE. It was so easy to dispatch of them, Iron Man was killed too easy, Cap was beaten so easily, Hawkeye didn't really die, but Falcon was also killed so easily. It defeated the purpose of them being threatening if they were all defeated so easily, the only dangerous one was Wanda. I hate the jokes in this episode, it's a zombie episode, not a comedy and even then they weren't funny at all. Marvel Zombies was serious, and litterally had a few jokes and was more sad. Bucky should have been more sad when beating Captain America, maybe even being too scared to fight him for a while because he saw his friend turning into a walking husk.
The Marvel zombies comics are my favorite comics ever, I had extremely high expectations for this episode. After seeing this episode I lost so much hope in the MCU.

there was literally no way for stark to get infected, and there's no holes on his suit either because of it being nanotech, so hank couldn't infect him, and nothing could've taken stark like that, it's just so annoying
In the comics, slowly feeding one zombie to keep them temporarily under control works because the zombies eat people out of addiction, and a lot of zombies even give up eating people when they go long enough without eating because they lose the sensation of hunger as they get their addiction treated
I just want to mention the whole T'challa is being kept as a food source to satiate a zombie while a cure is made thing is just a reference to the original Marvel Zombies run.
My problem with this is how constantly they are killing infected. They already established there's a possible cure that can bring the infected back to a normal state, and yet rather than incapacitating them so there's the least amount of casualties when they do return, it's just constant slaughter after slaughter, going so far to even kill other superheroes, teammates, or better yet, kill someone who was alive literal *seconds* ago. Some of them don't even feel bad about it too. Bucky feels bad for sawing Cap in half, Pete mourns Happy, and Sharon feels bad for killing Happy. Yet fucking Hope literally flies into Sharon's mouth, blows her up for absolutely no reason, and then cracks a goddamn oneliner as if she didn't just kill one of her friends. No cure is going to bring back Sharon's splatter all over the inside of a train car.
How exactly do you incapacitate a zombie? No, really, how? They're dead, so they don't pass out or knockout like we humans do cause ya kinda have to be alive to that. I'm pretty sure even if there was a chance of a cure, you'd still kill a few zombies to be able to get to it it's called self-preservation and killing a few to save the many.

The zombie heroes are too strong for incapacitating so they have to kill them, I dont understand why ur mad about that. In the Marvel Zombies comics I'm pretty sure they do depopulate the entire universe by spreading zombies everywhere and then start to invade other universes to find more people to eat. The episode shares some points with the comics, where they more or less retain intelligence despite being undead, so they can still largely use their powers and tools though some are just shit out of luck. Hank Pym invents some crazy shit despite being a zombie that enables their efforts. It's kind of nuts, the episode didn't have nearly enough time to establish the same kind of scenario.
Zach complains about how Vision didn't kill Wanda because of love. He doesn't know that Wanda couldn't stand Vision's death, so she created a hex with so she can have a family with her dead husband. So basically, this episode just did the oposite of what Wandavision did

Something that I find funny about Iron man turning into a zombie is that in the kids show Avengers: Assemble, his armor was perfectly capable of withstanding a vampire bite. I know that the show and the MCU are different universes, but all of Iron man's armor from Mark II and up uses titanium.

The scene that made no sense to me is when the avengers attack against a big hord of zombies head on and get overwhelmed instantly, i mean wtf the avengers i know would strategize and would be more careful with such threat they wouldn't just go and punch a zombie in the face
The story was not about the avengers and they couldn’t waste a lot of time on how they got infected they were not making a 3 hour movie they needed to get the stuff that was not so important to the main plot out of the way to not drag on the runtime of a 1 shot story

And another sin when pulling the train, he gets surrounded , on his back, on the ground? IT'S SPIDER MAN! He has more than enough speed, strength and agility to easily get to the ceiling and escape!
The reason why the heavily populated areas are empty and devoid of damage is budget limitations. Same goes for Wasp not summonin' another swarm of insects. The quips are par for the course with the MCU because the writers think that insertin' humor into every scene is comedy. Happy's poor aim is the result of the "bad guys have to miss when shooting at a main character unless the plot demands it" cliche. As for not flyin' around the city in an invisible Wakandan hovercraft, it's two parts budget limitations to one part "If the characters don't make dumb decisions, the plot won't happen".
In terms of the bridge situation, the avengers could've waited in the VTOL while iron man scoped the bridge and reported "aye, there's zombies" and just blown up the bridge, stupid fucking writers.
Also talking about Ironman’s suit, that version he is wearing is nano tech that could hold a punch from Thanos and probably more so I don’t understand how the zombies got through the suit

I think the Freudian Excuse for Hope getting the dramatically slow turn is because she uses Pym Particles, which gives her some resistance or understanding of the Quantum Viris. It seems like a good excuse, but an excuse nonetheless.

The only reason for Vison to feed Wanda was a reference to the comics, since in the comic it worked like how the zombies in Return of the Livinf Dead did, where it was a unending hunger they felt, and when they ate they would gain their sense of self and their thinking skills back for a time, and it was the comic Antman who did something similar, but he was feeding himself as a zombie so he could try to find a cure.

This one line is funny because it shows off their relationship at this point in the franchise, but I feel that it sums up the episode as a whole. We saw a good number of our favorite heroes die in front of us and I think I felt bad for one or two of them.

@@dylansharp8471 Corect me if I'm wrong, but as of this movie (Infinity War), Sam and Bucky had a reluctant relationship with each other. They were both friends with Steve and that was where it ended. The times they interacted together were more hostile than friendly banter.
As for feeling bad some of them died, I don't feel we got the time to morn the fallen. When happy got turned, it was more of a joke with him still saying "Blam." When Sharon turned, we were more focused on the Cap/Bucky fight and when we got back to Sheron, it was another joke. We've seen that Bucky can survive a great fall and that The Hulk's skin can't be broken by the zombies, so theose two I really don't worry about. The only two that I really cared about was Hope and Okoye. As for the Zombie Avengers, they just felt like minibosses. One shows up, we see who it is, they are killed, we say something, and we move on. We needed a longer episode and less quips to take in the deaths.
The problem with the MCU as a whole is they constantly undercut moments by having a character crack a one liner.
Yeah true, they need to have at least one movie without the unnecessary quips.

Even in the crossover with Ash Williams, zombies Wolverine say to the Necronomicon that they also go to the bathroom, after that, he gives the book to hulk so they can use it like....toilet papel

The web thing isn't hard to believe because, as you said, he just redoes them. However, Spider-man has never had super hearing as his natural power. You're thinking of Spider-sense, a premonition ability. The MCU, for some reason, wanted him to not have this ability at the start and something he develops over time (see Far From Home for example).

if the zombies retain memories on how to use their weapons on suits, how come tony didn't put up his helmet and make his suit tight enough to keep out even the smallest of bugs? it would've been cool to see the zombie iron man survive this attack and all the others before being set up as the final antagonist along with thanos. at this point, he does have the nano suit which definitely could fight off attackers like larger bugs

Actually it's worse when you consider that Tony always improves his suit based on previous battles. So considering he had already fought Antman and experienced him breaching his suit, 9 times out of 10 he'd had already had an upgrade in that suit to prevent that.

18:35 What makes this even worse is that they do that in the fucking comic it's based off of. In the comic, it's explained that the zombies, if not fed for long enough don't starve but rather get over the hunger and realize it's just an illusion. Janet Van Dyne is infected but gets her head cut off and stuffed into a jar (What they were referencing with ant-man) and eventually when she realizes the hunger is just an illusion, is given a robotic body by the survivors who saved her. She fights alongside them against the other infected as proof that there is coming back from what has happened.
What makes it worse is that, in my opinion, she's one of the best characters in the story next to spiderman and Ant-Man.
So yeah, in my head cannon they are given 5 Sins since they could've done a clever illusion to one of the best characters from the comics but refused.
And it wasn't even Ant-Man who discovered or brought in the zombies. It was Mr. Fantastic who did it

Hank is a very smart individual, probably smarter than Stark, and in the comics the FF were stuck in the Ultimate Universe for a while so it makes one of the smartest zombies would become the leader.

Yeah, I like What if, but I didn’t really like this episode as much as the other ones. I liked the premise, I love me a post apocalypse scenario, whether it be post zombie apocalypse or nuclear apocalypse, but yeah this episode could have been done better. The zombies, especially the heroes, are so inconsistent that it actually hurts.
Agreed, and looking at other Marvel zombies stuff it constantly feels like they are trying to kill off the title with all the awful comics that came after 'Marvel zombies return'. Even the big reboot 'Marvel zombies ressurection' wasn't that good, it feels more like they want super zombies in the background to use as a gimmick but don't actually want to write any decent zombie stories.
I just thought the whole series as a whole was mediocore. Episode 1 was peggy's impressive ng+ any% speedrun of cap 1, and 5 was just......inconsistent. How did thanos turn? He has skin like hulk too, and is in fact much stronger than hulk. Iron Man's death was somehow even worse.
I thought the episode was squandered potential even though I enjoyed it. Really I’m just impressed this was even made under the Disney banner. But I figured they would scrub away all the darker elements to protect brand image and appeal to the kids they probably wanna avoid traumatizing.

@@alpha-1redrighthand829 Not a big fan of Resurrections, I feel that it spent too much time focusing on the mystery of the zombies and the timeskip over the outbreak was unsatisfying. If I had to suggest another zombie like marvel comic I suggest taking a look a the 'Last Gun on Earth' series (Marvel Universe vs The Punisher, Marvel Universe vs Wolverine, and Marvel Universe vs The Avengers), has a satisfying coverage of the outbreak and gives a neat look into how people survive/handle this scenario.
I don't think Thanos would be snapping everyone into zombies, I think he's going to snap and make them all human so he can eat them. Then when everyone's back as zombies, he'll do the snap again.

This is after civil war. Tony would have definitely upgraded his suits so what Scott did to his armor couldn't happen again. There's also no way zombies are tearing off the helmet that can take blasts from the IG & have a moon fall on it

This isn't really a "What if" thing. This is just a zombie story they wanted to tell. What if the MCU was overwhelmed by a quantum zombie Plague?
1.) The Avengers wouldn't set down in a heavily infested zone just to fight off a few zombies, they would he looking for a cure. They're not just a fighting force, they're a global threat initiative.
2.) Iron Man would be THE LAST person turned... probably in the entire universe. Not only is he completely sealed away from the outside world in his very very bite proof armor, he has nanomachines in his blood that he could use to counter the infection.
3.) Tony would have a bio-disaster contingency, with bio-containment suits for each Avenger. They are the most important as they have the tools to reverse the damage.
The people that wrote this don't know the MCU at all. They just thought of a fanfic and labeled it "What if...". Boooo 0/10

Iron Man Was One of the First Avengers to Get Infected in Marvel Zombies: Dead Days. He Was Bitten While Trying to get into his armor
I’m surprised to see they made the comic an animated thing. Marvel tends to stay away from darker scenarios including blood. Though I guess this is more “inspired by” their own comic
One thing to note about the original comic run that started this whole concept was that the infected became twisted in mind from the constant hunger and tend to talk in a dark humorous way, showing how much of their humanity gets reduced to ravenous cannibals with a sense of humor and sadism, Giant Man with huge emphasis on the latter.
I think Zombie Thanos wouldn't turn the whole universe into zombies. To me, I think he would double it's population, and maybe a way to leave earth.

Honestly I’m just impressed this sort of thing was made under the Disney banner. I feel like studio heads would be hesitant to depicting childhood heroes as flesh eating monsters. Though blood and gore was never on the table I feel like.

I can understand your annoyance at how Peter is acting, but it's honestly something consistent that's been going on throughout the comics and shows and, to a smaller extent, the MCU
The reason Peter does so many quips and such when fighting villains is because he's scared, scared he might fail or even die, so he uses humor and especially quips as a coping mechanism to deal with that, so that people will think he has everything under control and even to convince himself everything is fine. The MCU version does do this to a smaller extent as he has yet to truly become Spider-Man, but I'm betting a zombie outbreak killing his loved ones and father figure, would probably bring out that side of him

In the marvel universe, becoming smaller comes with the benefit of increased durability, speed etc(basically ant-man powers) because it’s the same tech. iron man should not have been infected, his strengths have always been adaptation, range, an evasion. he would not have faced an overwhelming ground based force on the ground without so much as even wearing a mask. it kinda annoyed me that every main avenger was just offed immediately to tell the story they wanted too, personally i wouldve liked to seen a survivors guilt tony, or a captain america who failed (which i concede is less likely, his whole thing is cqc and never surrendering)

I would say that Ebony Maw's sadistic nature carried over after his zombification. So when he lifts Bruce into the air he wants to induce as much fear as possible before killing him.
To be fair, when Happy was shot with an arrow, sometimes it takes a while to feel the pain if it happens ao fast. I experienced getting a cut before, no pain for a few seconds to a minute just numb, but after like 1min the pain is felt.
The phrase "Shock is a hell of a pain med" does exist for a reason.

also in regards to Hopes death, in Antman & The Wasp It was explained that when someone grows to giant size the Air becomes harder to breathe which makes the person pass out from a lack of oxygen. When she fell into the horde she didn’t die she just passed out that's why she didn’t fight back as much.

The biggest thing for me is how Spiderman doesn't realise the zombies getting up to him. The guy can FEEL THE VIBRATIONS IN DISTURBANCES IN THE AIR FROM MORE THAN A DOZEN METERS AWAY, yet he can't notice the zombies shambling towards him?!
The actual comic marvel zombies make more sense because everyone maintains most of their intelligence and its spreads super fast after quicksilver is bitten
im really disappointed with this episode, my original impression of the series was having the same grounded heros from the movies in alternate timelines, but you never got that here, nothing about the gravity of the situation is ever addressed and everyone takes it like a joke. theres a reason you never see these jokes being made after serious events in the movies, and thats because they take you right out of them

Coming off Marvel Zombies, this fails along every metric. Doesn’t work as a horror story, because they insist on using that trademark Marvel humor to break any sense of tension over their knee, and never really let it sink in how catastrophic it is that some of the most powerful beings on earth are now flesh-hungry undead. Also, not enough gore. I get that it’s being marketed to a younger audience, and Disney likes to keep things squeaky clean, but this is a story that desperately needs more blood and guts. Zombies are a very visceral brand of horror.
Doesn’t work as a regular story because the pacing is bad, and characters take turns holding the Dumbass Tetrahedron (TM) because the writers don’t know how to advance the plot in a way that makes any logical sense (not that Marvel Zombies is innocent in this regard. Looking at you, Reed Richards). It’s a mess.

Haven't watched the episode yet, but how tf did iron man get jobbed so easily by generic zombie no. 35? His infinitely weaker older armors had the durability to withstand shield helicarrier blades, and just got scratched. The episode as a whole was very mediocore despite some cool moments.
They could've sais zombie cap was the one who broke iron man's suit with his shield.
@@weaboodoo2346 unlikely. He could barely defeat iron man with the help of bucky, and that was on a much less capable armor. I'm pretty sure this armor doesn't leave his arc reactor exposed anymore. The only way iron man could be taken out is zombie thanos, and that would never be able to happen if they stood by their rules. Characters like bleeding edge armor Iron Man, Black Panther, and Thanos were just too op, and they couldn't afford to pay RDJ, so they just jobbed him in the worst way possible.

@@weaboodoo2346 just in case you don't know, that armor has kinda regenerative capabilities. It's made of nanotechnology. The regeneration is limited, but cap would have to land a shit ton of throws to really expose Tony, and one decent blast can end zombie cap right there.

1. Blam blam. Blam. Blam **gets eaten** blam blam. Blam.
2. Iron man and black panther get bit by civilian zombies.

4:30 I think is where the iron man complaints come in. And I 1,000% agree that, a human literally covered in some of the most durable materials on the planet, with practically nuclear, anti tank, anti air, anti infantry and bunker busting abilities, could get overwhelmed by a simple human using 100% of their strength, since we can only use 1/3 of our strength biologically without adrenaline, and if we did we would damage our body an incredible amount which is why we have a limiter. Sure we may be able to lift a car if we were a body builder using 100% of our strength, but Tony's armor can tank BULLETS and be fine, even shot by a tank shell and completely survive it without any skin showing, which a zombie could never do. So I consider this part the absolute worst part in this episode.

Yeah Marvel has introduced such powerful characters that the only explanation for a zombie apocalypse is characters acting REALLY dumb. Several of the heroes could probably single-handedly beat a zombie outbreak. There's no reason Iron Man couldn't seal up his suit and blast the zombies from orbit, or Dr. Strange couldn't float above them and send them all to another dimension, or Vision couldn't just fly above the horde and obliterate them all with the mind stone.
I've watched this series too much, and I criticized this as soon as it came out. SOMEONE RID ME OF THIS CURSE
Loved the video WSG, and despite it's flaws I loved this episode of Marvel What If. I do agree with a lot of people that some marvel characters wouldn't have gotten infected so easily such as Wanda, Doctor Strange, Wong, Ebony Maw, Iron Man, and Thanos, here I'll explain why some of my favorite characters would have survived and I'll tell y'all an alternate story for this episode I think would have been better. If you guys havn't seen Infinity War, or Endgame there are SPOILERS ahead so beware.
Ebony Maw is the most powerful member of Thanos's black order and the most powerful of his children and one of the smartest, the reason he had to die so quickly and so easily(blow a hole in the side of his ship and suck him out into space) in Infinity War, is because if he wasn't dead he would have made the job of stopping Thanos almost impossible so they killed him off by doing something he wouldn't have expected, "Yea but the kid seen more movies". Yes he was caught off guard in the episode but once he realized what was happening ie that he was being attacked I'm not sure anyone in Thanos's army knows what a zombie is, but he could have used his powers to annihilate the three zombies quickly or incapacitate them at least he has been shown to maniulate multiple objects and targets with his telekinesis.
Thanos would definitely have not gotten infected so quickly as his hide is about as tough as Hulk's and we seen zombies can't bite the Hulk he also had multiple infinity stones with him when he came to earth, him going to Wakanda like he did in the episode makes no sense either as the only reason he went to Wakanda in the movie was cause that was were the mind stone was, so since vision was in the military base and uninfected Thanos should have shown up there to take the mind stone, he also would have better known about the situation on earth, after two of his subordinates didn't return he would have researched all known threats on earth, sent recon to figure out what happened to black obsidian and Ebony Maw and strategized the situations accordingly.
Ironman makes a little bit more sense actually since we seen that Ant-Man can infiltrate his suit so he still could have been infected by Hank but like WSG said Tony is an incredibly smart individual and would not have been ok with the attack on the goldengate bridge, at least he wouldn't be ok with doing it the way it was done in the episode, he would have known it was best to limit all physicle contact with the infected and attack them from a distance.
Doctor Strange and Wong are in charge of a organization of magic users tasked with defending the earth and the universe from destruction, you would think that even though the zombies were caused by a more scientific explanation that the Masters of the Mystic arts would have gotten involved when corpses started walking around eating the living, and like I said before, Dr. Strange, Wong, and everyone else in the Masters of the Mystic Arts would have known and would have had the means to keep the zombies as far away as possible and take them out from a distance.
For Wanda it's the same point as Strange, Ebony Maw, and Iron-man, She is smart enough to know to keep the infected away from her and has the capabilities to take them out from a distance.
Now I think this episode would have been better if all the characters I just mentioned survived along with the survivors we had in the episode, like in infinity war Bruce would arrive to warn earth about thanos and Strange and Wong would be there to listen but they would also fill him in on what is happening on earth, they hear a commotion outside and see Ebony Maw and Black Obsidian out o the street. Ebony Maw would still get attacked but not by Zombie Strange, Wong, and Tony but a horde of regular zombies upon regaining his composer he would just send Black Obsidian to deal with the "disgusting creatures" trying to overwhelm them. Obsidian would get bitten and turn leading to Ebony Maw having to deal with the problem himself. Bruce gets anxious about the situation but Strange tells him they are going to need Ebony Maw if they're going to fix this whole mess. Strange and Wong teleport Ebony Maw into the Sanctum to have a chat and they propose a truse, as Ebony has seen this virus doesn't just infect humans, if this infection gets off world the whole universe could fall and Thanos's vision of a perfectly balanced universe would never come to fruition. The talks are going well when Tony shows up and begins to voice his displeasure with the plan and after what Bruce seen of Thanos he sides with Tony, Dr. Strange tries to assure them that he doesn't like the plan either and that he wouldn't even consider it if there were another option, if the universe is going to be saved they are going to need to side with Thanos and have him use the power of the infinity stones to wipe all traces of the quantum virus from existence. I'll let your imaginations continue on from here. Thanks for reading guys n' gals!

The zombies were fodder as hell, even The Watcher said that when the avengers got infected, they were unstoppable, but they were beaten with EASE. It was so easy to dispatch of them, Iron Man was killed too easy, Cap was beaten so easily, Hawkeye didn't really die, but Falcon was also killed so easily. It defeated the purpose of them being threatening if they were all defeated so easily, the only dangerous one was Wanda.
I hate the jokes in this episode, it's a zombie episode, not a comedy and even then they weren't funny at all. Marvel Zombies was serious, and litterally had a few jokes and was more sad. Bucky should have been more sad when beating Captain America, maybe even being too scared to fight him for a while because he saw his friend turning into a walking husk.
The Marvel zombies comics are my favorite comics ever, I had extremely high expectations for this episode.
After seeing this episode I lost so much hope in the MCU.

there was literally no way for stark to get infected, and there's no holes on his suit either because of it being nanotech, so hank couldn't infect him, and nothing could've taken stark like that, it's just so annoying
In the comics, slowly feeding one zombie to keep them temporarily under control works because the zombies eat people out of addiction, and a lot of zombies even give up eating people when they go long enough without eating because they lose the sensation of hunger as they get their addiction treated
I just want to mention the whole T'challa is being kept as a food source to satiate a zombie while a cure is made thing is just a reference to the original Marvel Zombies run.
My problem with this is how constantly they are killing infected. They already established there's a possible cure that can bring the infected back to a normal state, and yet rather than incapacitating them so there's the least amount of casualties when they do return, it's just constant slaughter after slaughter, going so far to even kill other superheroes, teammates, or better yet, kill someone who was alive literal *seconds* ago. Some of them don't even feel bad about it too. Bucky feels bad for sawing Cap in half, Pete mourns Happy, and Sharon feels bad for killing Happy. Yet fucking Hope literally flies into Sharon's mouth, blows her up for absolutely no reason, and then cracks a goddamn oneliner as if she didn't just kill one of her friends. No cure is going to bring back Sharon's splatter all over the inside of a train car.
How exactly do you incapacitate a zombie? No, really, how? They're dead, so they don't pass out or knockout like we humans do cause ya kinda have to be alive to that. I'm pretty sure even if there was a chance of a cure, you'd still kill a few zombies to be able to get to it it's called self-preservation and killing a few to save the many.

In the Marvel Zombies comics I'm pretty sure they do depopulate the entire universe by spreading zombies everywhere and then start to invade other universes to find more people to eat. The episode shares some points with the comics, where they more or less retain intelligence despite being undead, so they can still largely use their powers and tools though some are just shit out of luck. Hank Pym invents some crazy shit despite being a zombie that enables their efforts. It's kind of nuts, the episode didn't have nearly enough time to establish the same kind of scenario.

Something that I find funny about Iron man turning into a zombie is that in the kids show Avengers: Assemble, his armor was perfectly capable of withstanding a vampire bite. I know that the show and the MCU are different universes, but all of Iron man's armor from Mark II and up uses titanium.
Thanos also has the REALITY stone. Meaning he could, with a thought, turn every infected person back to normal.
I can't believe Tony Stark somehow got infected when he's wearing a freaking iron Man suit if I was him I would be smart and fly in the air so they can't get me and spam rockets 🤦
The scene that made no sense to me is when the avengers attack against a big hord of zombies head on and get overwhelmed instantly, i mean wtf the avengers i know would strategize and would be more careful with such threat they wouldn't just go and punch a zombie in the face
The story was not about the avengers and they couldn’t waste a lot of time on how they got infected they were not making a 3 hour movie they needed to get the stuff that was not so important to the main plot out of the way to not drag on the runtime of a 1 shot story

thank you!! they just weren’t consistent with the zombies intelligence or anything at all with that matter, they go from using their powers with amazing precision then act like slow dumb zombies within the same 30 seconds. i hated this entire episode
Add another sin for every time Spider Man was in danger especially pulling the train , and his spider sense doesnt alert him! And another sin when pulling the train, he gets surrounded , on his back, on the ground? IT'S SPIDER MAN! He has more than enough speed, strength and agility to easily get to the ceiling and escape!
The reason why the heavily populated areas are empty and devoid of damage is budget limitations. Same goes for Wasp not summonin' another swarm of insects. The quips are par for the course with the MCU because the writers think that insertin' humor into every scene is comedy. Happy's poor aim is the result of the "bad guys have to miss when shooting at a main character unless the plot demands it" cliche. As for not flyin' around the city in an invisible Wakandan hovercraft, it's two parts budget limitations to one part "If the characters don't make dumb decisions, the plot won't happen".

In terms of the bridge situation, the avengers could've waited in the VTOL while iron man scoped the bridge and reported "aye, there's zombies" and just blown up the bridge, stupid fucking writers.
Also talking about Ironman’s suit, that version he is wearing is nano tech that could hold a punch from Thanos and probably more so I don’t understand how the zombies got through the suit
