The retain the ability to speak, think, and tap into their powers. In fact when the hunger is satisfied: they gain their “humanity” back so to speak. Spider-Man openly weeps when anyone brings up MJ and Aunt May. The ones in What If seem to be zombies that retain their powers and habits (like tactical thinking, and Happy quietly saying “Blam”)

I considered this episode as more of an appetizer for the Marvel Zombies comic books. It crumbles really hard when you start thinking about it deeper than at surface level.
tony was more tactically intelligent as a zombie than he was fighting them, remember those lasers that cut through dozens of ivans drones? remember how he can literally fly for extended periods, remember the missiles he can spawn on command? remember those quin jets? remember the iron legion/jarvis controlled suits? literally all of this is technology he already had prior to the infection, and i get inventing things would take time but surely he would be easily able to hold them off long enough to continue innovating on his technology.
No amount of technology would protect him from his turned teammates, Jet away? Portals would open either directly above him or to the sides of him for zombies to pounce from, Shoot missiles? They would just be thrown right back at him, Wear a different suit? Unless said suit is air sealed one small enough breach in the armor is all it'll take for someone that can shrink to bypass of that armor without so much as even being detected by the suit's sensors themselves.

The comic version only effects people with great intelligence or superpowers, basically all the villains and heros. The one weakness they have is that if they haven’t ate in a while they would no longer become hungry and help the remaining forces of humanity. But to stop that from happening they travel to many alternate realities to eat. Basically the same as this one but 100000X worse Edit: ok I got it wrong I haven’t seen it in the past 5 years

He was sent back in time so that it would create a closed loop, so the virus couldn't escape and would essentially 'eat itself' rather than spreading into new universes, as the events of the Marvel Zombies Series would always happen, and always end in the Last zombie being sent back in order to start the process again, which by the fundamental mechanics of that form of time travel, meant that Nothing else could ever possibly happen beyond that. Which means a select few Universes are exposed to Zombies, but those Few Survive and the Infection is cornered into being sent back on itself.
i thought the reasoning why there werent any 'normal' zombies in the comics was that people were eaten before they can turn into a zombie. it makes more sense in my head since not every hero or villain had great intelligence or superpowers but they can realistically run off long enough to turn into a zombie before being eaten
It's explained that infinity gauntlet can't be used in a different universe, so even if Zombie Thanos were able to go here, it can't use the snap. But we still screwed either way
But ultron was able to use the infinity stones across different realities in what if. He wouldn't be a threat to the entire multiverse if that wasn't the case, so clearly the infinity stones work across every universe in the mcu.

The Comic Version has things that make it even more impossible, and some stuff that actually makes not dying easier. in that Version, encountering a Zombie 'Hero' in the later stages, or in one of the secondary infection Universes, is only a 75/25 of dying, since the 25% want to be alive again and will be kind of helpful, but in the Earlier Stages, the earth is almost entirely picked clean, and the Zombies Consume Galactus, gaining Cosmic Powers. The ordinary people zombies are also much rarer, but only because the 'Heroes' don't let anyone turn, having fully eaten them unless they're strong or smart or significant enough to be 'Spared' and Converted, or Escape. The Zombie Intelligence also makes them more vulnerable to infighting and tricks, while a regular zombie might be able to be dazzled with light or distracted by music, a Marvel Zombie has thoughts, dreams, emotions beyond Hunger.... They can be Manipulated, They can argue with, or even outright attack and kill, other zombies that they don't like. Marvel Zombies can even have marital disputes about not being honest about having a human (and thus a Food source) Stored and alive in the basement. What makes it a bit harder is that they also know how to lie, how to disguise themselves, and how to breach into other universes. While it's possible to outwit them, conversely, they can outwit you. And when not everyone who's visibly rotten is an Enemy, But not everyone who looks alive is a Survivor, Confusion will play a much bigger part, Friendly Fire isn't just a problem of the disgruntled undead. Decapitation doesn't kill them, Their heads can live on even when severed for Years. Unless the brain is destroyed, a Zombie with the right superpowers can remain a threat even without the rest of their bodies. Reed Richards started walking around on little stretchy tendrils of his own neck-flesh like he was Dio (Yes, that is a JoJo reference, before anyone asks). Zombies that go long enough without eating eventually realise the Hunger was all in their head, and get over it. Zombie 'Heroes' often have aspects of their superpowers change because of the infection, Regeneration is completely lost, The Hulk transforms based on hunger rather than anger, which made him near-invincible when ravenous, (They had to feed someone to him in order to satisfy him enough to turn back into bruce in order to be killed) Spiderman lost his webshooters, but he was able to replace them with his own decaying viscera. Some Zombies try to find cures or kill themselves, while others have schemes to farm humans to eat later. It's Crazy, but it's a fun look at a different kind of Zombie.

Actually, the best choice to make would be to give Zombie Thanos the mind stone since the mind stone CURES the quantum virus. Zombie Thanos with the power of the mind stone channeling directly through him would snap away half the universe and cure everybody.
The game plan would be to give zanos the mind stone, have him cured, and then use both the power and mind stone to create a surge blast across the entire planet, curing the zombie outbreak fully

The Comic versions are so much worse. The Zombies are sentient still, some even wail and regret their actions but all succumb to the virus, Going invisible doesn't work because they're have casters trapping and putting wizards under water till they shifted and drowned. All the former heroes and villians working together to hunt and eat survivors, not to convert but to actually eat living flesh
And even near the end where the universe was running out of living beings to eat, the bad intelligent zombies, (Yes there are good ones somehow), now calmed by having been temporarily sated, and the Hunger growing dull as they've stopped eating for a while, once they learned that some human life survived, Zombie Giant-Man conceived a horrific potential idea that, instead of eating them, that the could "farm" the humans for an infinite source of food. Of course it doesn't exactly pan out that way, but it WAS a possibility.
I actually don't think the Zombies are (completely) stupid, just malicious. Zombie Hawkeye literally smiles when he's shooting at Shannon! He missed those shots on purpose just to frighten her, I just know it!

It should be impossible for Thanos to become infected. If Hulk's Skin is biteproof, and Thanos' is infinitely hardier, then Thanos should be immune. Imagine if Thanos became the Good Guy in this Story, had he still been alive?
Thanos would have just went up to Vision told the survivors “we don’t have a choice.” and snap his fingers ending all the hordes in seconds so yeah would have been like 20 minutes.

It was probably Iron Man who got the job done. Because in Infinity War, Iron Man was able to break Thano's skin. Add in superhuman strength and it's even more plausible.
First of all, sorry for the breakup. I wish they had shown someone strong pulling Stark's helmey like Thanos did so the former's infection would make sense. Oh and I'd like to suggest continuing the Campaign Reviews and, for the sake of my friend, weapon analysis. My main problem with the whole what if, is the mystic arts users. You need to be alive in order to use magic, because magic is inherently spiritual, you need a soul because it's a contract. The fact that Wong and Dr Strange can use their powers literally goes against that

Zombie Wolverine in the comics was actualy less impressive. The virus shut down his healing factor cos of reasons. And as he rotted, the tendons and muscles became unable to hold his adamantium skeleton together. There was a fight where his hand just fell apart after punching someone.

Not sure if you were trying to say at the end of the video, but it sounded like you were hinting at the zombies entering an alternative universe and thanos snapping in the new universe to make everyone there zombies. If thats the case, it wouldn’t work because the gauntlet only works in its home universe. But a zombie thanos in any universe with a working gauntlet would be wayyyyy too overpowered. Great video!
I would love to see a Comic Version of this, especially when you research you'll see the amazing story (Written Partly by Robert Kirkman himsef) and how much they do flesh it out and find out JUST how scaled down this episode is
It would be cool if this was a game. like a story based-survival game with surviving avengers. Maybe with 3 boss zombies that are constantly hunting you (maybe ai or human). The 3 bosses would be Wanda, wasp and Thanos. And each of the bosses can be killed, or used to find a cure (like forcing Wanda to create a hex and change zombies, force the gauntlet off Thanos, and get the particles off wasp to enter the quantum realm and find a cure.) All while running away with the mind stone in hand.
I'm definitely holding out for the comic assessment, if or whenever you can! Because I have a handful of "But-!" moments with your observations, yet you stated your prior knowledge of the comics. I do think you could do the normal Marvel Zombies with out much issue. All you really need to read is Marvel Zombies 1, Marvel Zombies 2, and Marvel Zombies Return.

The funny thing about Marvel's What If... Zombies? is that they are basically DC's DCeased zombies. Not intelligent, but able to use their powers. Flash gets infected and instantly goes super speed to infect the rest of the world, for example. This versus the actual Marvel Zombies, which would be like this plus Return of the Living Dead.

The comics are exactly what you said, zombies with superpowers. They mostly retain their intelligence because of their respective healing factors and more often than not eat non superpowered people entirely before they can be turned so there's a real risk of humanity being eaten to extinction. The extinction plot point is covered in the comics with our heroes(?) going into space and other universes.
Does anyone know if the Infinity Stones even work outside the universe they're from? I saw a clip from Loki where they they had hundreds of them from other timelines, one of the characters said they're like paperweights.

I'd say that the mind stone would have cured thanos as soon as he put it in the gauntlet, then he would have either destroyed all zombies or have cured them.
4:13 this system is to keep us from using 100% of our strength which if used could be so strong that it could lift a light car. We use 1/3 of our strength and about 2/3 with adrenaline. If we used 100% we would rapidly tear our muscles because of how much strength they possess, but their durability is not strong enough to withstand this. Which is why we have this limiter, and why zombies would be dangerous if they even existed. But they don't and never will.
Definitely do the comics there’s ALOT of different lore! Like the zombies not wanting to eat after a long time of waiting, ego getting eaten, kingpin making endless human clones to feast on, and even zombie love(yes it happens)
Now that I think about it, Iron Man gettin infected does make sense. Because we know Hank Pym was there, we can assume he had a quick patriotic snack, then shrunk down, slipped through the armour and then bit Tony, infecting him with the virus.
There’s a few ways you could survive this; 1) live underground and isolate yourself from the zombies because they would have no way of getting in. 2) live on a remote island. 3) live on top of buildings where zombies cannot access. 4) Go to another planet or satellite.
@@JondarKorric No I don’t think I did watch it but I saw the title and I can’t see why those things wouldn’t protect you because if you live underground and have a secret base the zombies can’t get inside because they have no brains to know how to get inside as they don’t know how to screw a hatch. Living on a remote island would work because again zombies have no brains so they wouldn’t be able to take a boat there as they don’t know how to drive a boat. Being on a building would require zombies being able to fly helicopters which again they don’t know how and finally zombies wouldn’t be able to find you on another planet so I think these things would work and I don’t know what he said but I really can’t be bothered to watch something this long.

The only reason the infection spread so fast is because of supers. If they are out of the picture its a standard zombie outbreak which can be contained easily in its early phase.

My guess is that this universes iron main armour is slightly different from our own.

He was sent back in time so that it would create a closed loop, so the virus couldn't escape and would essentially 'eat itself' rather than spreading into new universes, as the events of the Marvel Zombies Series would always happen, and always end in the Last zombie being sent back in order to start the process again, which by the fundamental mechanics of that form of time travel, meant that Nothing else could ever possibly happen beyond that.
Which means a select few Universes are exposed to Zombies, but those Few Survive and the Infection is cornered into being sent back on itself.
i thought the reasoning why there werent any 'normal' zombies in the comics was that people were eaten before they can turn into a zombie. it makes more sense in my head since not every hero or villain had great intelligence or superpowers but they can realistically run off long enough to turn into a zombie before being eaten
It's explained that infinity gauntlet can't be used in a different universe, so even if Zombie Thanos were able to go here, it can't use the snap. But we still screwed either way
But ultron was able to use the infinity stones across different realities in what if. He wouldn't be a threat to the entire multiverse if that wasn't the case, so clearly the infinity stones work across every universe in the mcu.

The Comic Version has things that make it even more impossible, and some stuff that actually makes not dying easier.
in that Version, encountering a Zombie 'Hero' in the later stages, or in one of the secondary infection Universes, is only a 75/25 of dying, since the 25% want to be alive again and will be kind of helpful, but in the Earlier Stages, the earth is almost entirely picked clean, and the Zombies Consume Galactus, gaining Cosmic Powers.
The ordinary people zombies are also much rarer, but only because the 'Heroes' don't let anyone turn, having fully eaten them unless they're strong or smart or significant enough to be 'Spared' and Converted, or Escape.
The Zombie Intelligence also makes them more vulnerable to infighting and tricks, while a regular zombie might be able to be dazzled with light or distracted by music, a Marvel Zombie has thoughts, dreams, emotions beyond Hunger.... They can be Manipulated, They can argue with, or even outright attack and kill, other zombies that they don't like. Marvel Zombies can even have marital disputes about not being honest about having a human (and thus a Food source) Stored and alive in the basement.
What makes it a bit harder is that they also know how to lie, how to disguise themselves, and how to breach into other universes. While it's possible to outwit them, conversely, they can outwit you. And when not everyone who's visibly rotten is an Enemy, But not everyone who looks alive is a Survivor, Confusion will play a much bigger part, Friendly Fire isn't just a problem of the disgruntled undead.
Decapitation doesn't kill them, Their heads can live on even when severed for Years. Unless the brain is destroyed, a Zombie with the right superpowers can remain a threat even without the rest of their bodies. Reed Richards started walking around on little stretchy tendrils of his own neck-flesh like he was Dio (Yes, that is a JoJo reference, before anyone asks).
Zombies that go long enough without eating eventually realise the Hunger was all in their head, and get over it. Zombie 'Heroes' often have aspects of their superpowers change because of the infection, Regeneration is completely lost, The Hulk transforms based on hunger rather than anger, which made him near-invincible when ravenous, (They had to feed someone to him in order to satisfy him enough to turn back into bruce in order to be killed) Spiderman lost his webshooters, but he was able to replace them with his own decaying viscera.
Some Zombies try to find cures or kill themselves, while others have schemes to farm humans to eat later. It's Crazy, but it's a fun look at a different kind of Zombie.

The crazy part is that Doctor Strange used his portal to move from Thanos’ planet to Earth in endgame. So the zombie versions could go to invade other planets as well.

Zombie Thanos with the power of the mind stone channeling directly through him would snap away half the universe and cure everybody.
The game plan would be to give zanos the mind stone, have him cured, and then use both the power and mind stone to create a surge blast across the entire planet, curing the zombie outbreak fully

The Comic versions are so much worse. The Zombies are sentient still, some even wail and regret their actions but all succumb to the virus, Going invisible doesn't work because they're have casters trapping and putting wizards under water till they shifted and drowned. All the former heroes and villians working together to hunt and eat survivors, not to convert but to actually eat living flesh
And even near the end where the universe was running out of living beings to eat, the bad intelligent zombies, (Yes there are good ones somehow), now calmed by having been temporarily sated, and the Hunger growing dull as they've stopped eating for a while, once they learned that some human life survived, Zombie Giant-Man conceived a horrific potential idea that, instead of eating them, that the could "farm" the humans for an infinite source of food. Of course it doesn't exactly pan out that way, but it WAS a possibility.

It was probably Iron Man who got the job done. Because in Infinity War, Iron Man was able to break Thano's skin. Add in superhuman strength and it's even more plausible.

My main problem with the whole what if, is the mystic arts users. You need to be alive in order to use magic, because magic is inherently spiritual, you need a soul because it's a contract. The fact that Wong and Dr Strange can use their powers literally goes against that

Zombie Wolverine in the comics was actualy less impressive. The virus shut down his healing factor cos of reasons. And as he rotted, the tendons and muscles became unable to hold his adamantium skeleton together. There was a fight where his hand just fell apart after punching someone.

Not sure if you were trying to say at the end of the video, but it sounded like you were hinting at the zombies entering an alternative universe and thanos snapping in the new universe to make everyone there zombies. If thats the case, it wouldn’t work because the gauntlet only works in its home universe. But a zombie thanos in any universe with a working gauntlet would be wayyyyy too overpowered. Great video!

And each of the bosses can be killed, or used to find a cure (like forcing Wanda to create a hex and change zombies, force the gauntlet off Thanos, and get the particles off wasp to enter the quantum realm and find a cure.)
All while running away with the mind stone in hand.

The funny thing about Marvel's What If... Zombies? is that they are basically DC's DCeased zombies. Not intelligent, but able to use their powers. Flash gets infected and instantly goes super speed to infect the rest of the world, for example. This versus the actual Marvel Zombies, which would be like this plus Return of the Living Dead.

The comics are exactly what you said, zombies with superpowers. They mostly retain their intelligence because of their respective healing factors and more often than not eat non superpowered people entirely before they can be turned so there's a real risk of humanity being eaten to extinction. The extinction plot point is covered in the comics with our heroes(?) going into space and other universes.

I'd say that the mind stone would have cured thanos as soon as he put it in the gauntlet, then he would have either destroyed all zombies or have cured them.

4:13 this system is to keep us from using 100% of our strength which if used could be so strong that it could lift a light car. We use 1/3 of our strength and about 2/3 with adrenaline. If we used 100% we would rapidly tear our muscles because of how much strength they possess, but their durability is not strong enough to withstand this. Which is why we have this limiter, and why zombies would be dangerous if they even existed. But they don't and never will.

1) live underground and isolate yourself from the zombies because they would have no way of getting in.
2) live on a remote island.
3) live on top of buildings where zombies cannot access.
4) Go to another planet or satellite.

Living on a remote island would work because again zombies have no brains so they wouldn’t be able to take a boat there as they don’t know how to drive a boat. Being on a building would require zombies being able to fly helicopters which again they don’t know how and finally zombies wouldn’t be able to find you on another planet so I think these things would work and I don’t know what he said but I really can’t be bothered to watch something this long.
