I have a EMF Great Western 2 Pietta that has over 2500 rnds of 45 colt and the cylinder has no drag line at all. I love the pistol and it shoots fantastic, fit and finish was spot on from the box.
Good review, it'll be interesting to see the final opinion. Single action pistol prices have really risen in the few years pricing out some new shooters. Thanks for doing this.
I have the exact same Davidsons exclusive Pietta in .357 mag. The only thing I've done is add a pair of John Wayne grips from Arizona custom grips. It's honestly a great quality firearm. I enjoyed watching your review.
You are absolutely spot on about the current state of cowboy action firearms. I just had to spend 1K on new old stock for an additional Ruger New Vaquero to match the existing one I had. Another one hard to come by is stage coach shotguns. They are hard to find and prices on them are way up… Thanks for the video and information. I’m just getting into the sport myself.
A shooter in my local club has one of these Davidson’s Exclusive revolvers. I have been calling EMF for a year asking for the Deluxe Californian revolvers. No luck do far.
Agree on the grips and the weapon. Fireman is great but the grips are (at least on mine) were beyond atrocious. Pietta warns you that the grips may not be an exact fit, (because they are mass produced plastic), and on mine the plastic grips hung well over the frame which left an "razor" sharp edge which left the revolver unshootable unless you are a machoist. When I went to replace the grips the knurled nut spun in the grip (over tightened from the factory) & I wound up destroying the grips to get them off (no big loss). Threw some good looking "Magana Tusk" grips on it, problem solved. The only other thing I would mention is that my ancient fingers had a heck of time getting the "half notch" base pin to line up with the base pin latch, so I had a small "nub" TIG welded to it, made all the difference! (But the wild west purist will hate it :-) Having said all this; I absolutely love this revolver, I have the combo model and alternate between .45 colt and 45 acp, and after some exercise my trigger pull has dropped from a bit over 4 pound to just under 3. Could not be happier!!!
Hey thank you for the review! I have really wanted a cimarron pistolero which I believe is the same base pistol as this Pietta 1873. Seems like a great alternative too being that the cimarron I’m looking for by me is tough to come by. Any thought if the cimarron’s are really that much “better”/worth waiting for one? Really all I want is a decent 4-click and this Pietta seems to fit the bill.
The 1873 I put on layaway is a .45cal and I'm changing out the grips myself. I found some cool design grips on 4 site's online that I'm definitely looking to get. Just type in the model type of gun it is and grips.
I just bought one shoots great only one problem.out of a box of 50 rounds I have about 2 missfires.the firing pin on the hammer is striking the rim of the case.it seems to line up correctly but don't know?
I just picked up the LC.45 with an extra .45ACP cylinder same revolver six shooter very smooth single action and feels great in my hands balance is good. Cant wait to shoot her at the range.

Nice unboxing , I'm looking for a pair for cowboy shooting, thanks
I am curious to see how they handle your double taps. I think that will really speak to the quality of the factory tuning.

Really nice review, thanks! DeaconKC
Excellent review my friend
I own a pair of them great pair of revolvers
Good luck finding them in 357 or any maker in 357. If you reload 45, 44-40, you're good. I had a chance to buy one (cdnn) cheap but didn't 😢.
Just curious what is the difference if and between the great western 2 and the pietta pie version???
I been considering 🤔
Which grips and color you picket for Pietta

Howdy, which some is this one specifically?
Do these particular guns require an FFL to be shipped to or can they be shipped directly to your house
Yes, FFL required.
Do these have floating firing pins like the ubertis?
No. They are true 4 click like a Colt with no goofy safety like the Ubertis.
I have a pair of them, the triggers are awful, wish I knew someone that could smooth and lighten them .
Omg My friend I have the same box and gun it's My dream gun smooth as glass
Mine is in 38 357
