You guys just don't understand the cultural phenomenon that was the Slow Set. This song perfectly describes that time of the night when the DJ would say, 'OK folks, we're gonna slow things down now'... and you approached that person you'd been exchanging glances with for an hour, gesture towards the dance floor, and then there you were, in an intimate embrace, moving to the music and hoping for that moment when you both just know it's time to kiss, even though you've never spoken a word to each other.
I don't believe this song is slow at all but has a moderate tempo however I think Jay is stuck on the adrenaline pumping dance songs that he first became familiar with.
Yes, completely agree. Do they not make slow songs for school dances anymore? Are there even school dances or is that also a relic of the past? I’m so glad I grew up when I did. (70’s and 80’s)
@Joe Harte Preach to the children! 👍🏽 I slow danced to this song at his senior prom, while I was a junior. This song also played as the last song of the evening at an event, and I imagine it was to help the mood for spending time with your date after the party. It worked for me a few times. 🤭 I wish Jordan would stop expecting every 80s song to be "a banger" because he'll be keeping himself in another box, just like he did with rap music before starting this channel. 😕 He can like "bangers", but he should be more open to knowing to expect other styles.

"La Isla Bonita" is one of several that I play a _lot_ . I've also suggested those that you did, plus... "Take a Bow" "This Used to Be My Playground" "Dress You Up" "Cherish"
This was her first ballad single after a string of dance hits at the start of her career, and showed off a different side of her, it became a huge hit in early 1985
They reacted to Into The Groove, Material Girl, and Vogue which were all upbeat and Like A Prayer which alternates between slow and fast sections.... yet this guy claims they've reacted to mostly slow songs of hers. His memory is not so good. Express Yourself, Ray of Light, and Music, Hung Up from the 2000's when she was still going in third decade of getting hits will please the guy who always complains about slow songs.
I got hooked on Madonna with Borderline on the MTV music video a few years earlier. I thought it made her a star, at least to me. It was a bit slow but one of my still my favorite Madonna songs that decade. Lucky Star was exceptional, too, once I bought her first LP with both songs on it. I still have it. All my LPs are only from the 70s and 80s before CDs took over.
Jay might like her single "4 Minutes" (2008) featuring Justin Timberlake. It is considered dance-pop with an urban & hip hop style. It is Madonna's 37th top-ten single, breaking the record previously held by Elvis, as the artist with most top-ten hits. Also nominated for 2 Grammys. Thanks for checking out more Madonna!
A song as eternal as those teeny-bop, sugary, teardrop love songs from the 1950's. This song perfectly describes youth, love awakening, the fear and excitement, all at once that gave us that special rush. 💜 This was a ballad and she wasn't going to settle for being boxed in as strictly pop so she developed and exercised some range, vocally, and image, and becoming the biggest music business artist of her time. Her drive was (and likely still is) a freight train that no one could stop, and though many tried...and failed.
I always loved La Isla Bonita, Papa Don't Preach and Like A Prayer. I recently heard Like A Prayer was actually about performing oral smeggs and I was stunned, lol
Express Yourself, Open Your Heart, Papa Don't Preach, Ray of Light, Nothing Really Matters, Hung Up, Music, Sorry. MORE MADONNA! Watch her live performances. She is the greatest live performer in the history of live performing.
It's the song that knocked "We Are The World" by USA For Africa out of #1 in 1985!!! Man, I was so "in love" with Madonna in 1985. I was 13, she was 26. 😊
I loved Madonna as a singer and I was 13 myself! My sister was 15 & obsessed with her! She wore the fake pearls, laced gloves and the bows! R.I.P my dear sweet beautiful Sister.
Honestly, her catalog is so deep, I could be here all night listing good songs. For early career Madonna, you need to check out Papa Don't Preach, Like A Virgin, Express Yourself, Borderline, White Heat, Open Your Heart, Who's That Girl, Causing a Commotion, Dress You Up, La Isla Bonita, and Dear Jessie (which is sort of Beatles-esque). All upbeat great 80s hits. For 90s Madonna, you can check out Cherish, Frozen, Ray of Light, Secret, Hanky Panky, Beautiful Stranger. In 2000, she had a hit song called Music. For two other slow but beautiful songs, check out Oh Father and The Power of Good-Bye.
@@sdalt001 One of my favorites as well, but they wanted upbeat so I didn't name this one. But honestly, Oh Father, at least to me, is even more moving.
This song is from the film "Vision Quest" (1985), which I recommend you guys to react to. Also, Madonna has taken a lot of stick recently, but in the '80s she was colossal and deserved every bit of her fame. She may have aged, but her music is still fresh.
@@barryserpa5174 Lunatic Fringe was a 4 year old song by the time it was used in Vision Quest. It was used to much better effect a year before on Miami Vice. It was first a hit in 1981 from the Red Ryder Album As Far As Siam.
In my opinion, this is one of her most beautiful songs with 'Live to Tell' being her most beautiful. I think Jay would enjoy 'Open Your Heart, which I am going to listen to now.
This is the song everyone started to realize Madonna can really sing including some critics. Hit number 1 and is one of my favorites. Madonna was a big pop star and her singing always reflected the times and what was considered pop at the time.
No. The FIRST time any self-respecting music critic EVER THOUGHT that she actually had singing potential was on her 1997 album Ray of Light. Okay... It must've been only me being her critique, that honestly felt that she vocally sucked (without auto-tune) in comparison to her female contemporaries of the era, like Cyndi Lauper, Annie Lennox, Terri Nunn, Dale Bozzio, et. al. Don't mistake my above sentiments for not recognising her as an artist whom was able to parlay her fame with glomming on to club DJs as well as genius musical producerss. Her narcisssism and vivacious extrovertism as well as her cababillity to "get whatever she wants/get things done on her terms" sort of thing, made me awe-struck of her je ne sais quoi when I was a pre-teen. Regardless... Her Immaculate Conception compilation album as well as Ray of Light and Music are my most treasured. Old Madonna is just too try-hard. I seriously hope that my ancient Goth arse is not acting-up like her at her age...
No. Wrong, wrong, wrong. Madonna had many standout vocals WAY before the overrated Ray of Light, but people can keep trying to rewrite Madonnas history, but she is still the worlds best selling female artist and the Queen of Pop.
@@lLushKitty Nope, very wrong and Ray of light is not even from 1997 but 1998 ;-) Madonna had many albums and songs before ROL where her vocals were praised.
@@lLushKitty Actually, ray of light did not come out in 1997. You might be confusing her accelerated vocals, which were trained by Stephen Sondheim for the movie Evita.
She has a huge catalog of fast & slow hits spanning over 40yrs of music trends, “This used to be my playground” & “Take a bow” are 2 of her great slow hits, “Burning Up” & “Like a Virgin” are 2 fast bangers, the film was Vision Quest, it features 2 Madonna songs, this 1 & faster one called “Gambler” this movie brought her into pop culture, but you all should watch her movie “Desperately Seeking Susan” where she plays the lead & features her fast song “Into the Groove”
This song was from the movie Vision Quest, which was great. As a teenager in the 80's I really liked her earlier stuff like this, Borderline, Lucky Star etc. I never get tired of hearing it.
Burning Up , Into The Groove , Everybody, Holiday , Ray Of Light which was a huge hit ,Frozen another monster hot ,The Power Of Goodbye ,and Oh Father are all amazing .
Thanks, Amber! Thanks, Jay! 💋 This song was featured in VISION QUEST (1985), as the clips in the video suggests. She even has a cameo in the movie, as the singer at the club, also utilized above. #RobSquadReactions #CrazyForYou #Madonna
One of my favorite movies ever- it was the start of all those great 80s movies! I just watched it again a couple nights ago. Still holds up pretty well today! Great movie and a great soundtrack
I was under 13yrs.old at this time- It was all about jelly bracelets, neon everything, Jordache purses for me and taping new songs off Casey Kasam's Top 40 on Sunday radio show.😆 Kids have no idea these days. Great Job -- Thank you!!!
I just went and watched the Cherish video and this comment made me laugh out loud. 😂 “Someone said this was one of Madonna's worst singles and I almost slapped them with my mermaid tail.”
Just curious, why don't you Madonna fans care that she has harmed MANY children over the past 3+ decades? She's sick in the head and even admitted she has problems, getting caught trafficking kids shouldn't be tolerated at all, and she's done it multiple times, she shouldn't have had any fans left after she got caught the first time back in the 90s, then she did it again just recently and it's like her fans don't care. Is it because you just like the music and don't care about that crimes she has done during her free time or what? Honestly just curious.
Prom during my junior year, slow dancing with my boyfriend, and enjoying every minute of it. Ahh, memories. 😊❤ Jordan, En Vogue is a group, Vogue is the song by Madonna.
@@edier4057 I'd like to see that happen. 🙂 He'll probably like "Free Your Mind" because of the rock vibe, but I don't know if he'd like many of the others.
I just can’t get over how lucky and blessed we were in the 80s with all the diverse talent we had! I mean the music from the 80s alone easily outshines the music scene today. So much talent. The artists and producers and songwriters spent so much time and money and energy making their music the best that they could there’s no other way to say it. The fact that 40+ years can go by and these songs still sound great is amazing.
All hail Madonna 👑 my Queen Jay, try these for hyped up.......... Express Yourself 🔥 Like A Virgin (this was the 80's)🔥 Holiday Dress You Up Ray Of Light 🔥 Music🔥 Justify My Love (you want bad girl Madonna, here ya go Jay😂)🥵🔥
Oh, hey guys thanks for doing one of my Madonna requests from the film Vision Quest starring Matthew Modine and Linda Fiorentino from 1985. This song was definitely played a lot on MTV back in the day and on the radio. She did "Gambler" for this film too. Nice reaction. Patreon Movie Suggestions: Super Mario Bros, Double Dragon, Street Fighter 1 and 2, and Mortal Kombat, all from the 90's. Enjoy some cheese from that era lol. I was born in 1980. I think I already mentioned this but Journey did a song for this film too called "Only The Young" please react to it at some point. Thanks! This made my long day. Another Madonna suggestion: Dress You Up.
1985 is when my daughter was born! MaDonna songs helped me to loose baby weight by dancing! Not necessarily this one but most of the others! “Like a Virgin” was one of my favorites 💕
You two have absolutely reacted to an upbeat Madonna song because you reacted to "Into The Groove". Now, if you want upbeat, dance music Madonna then I suggest "Express Yourself" (either video or the live Blond Ambition Tour version is killer too!) or "Ray of Light" if you want more late 90s Madonna.
I began my fandom with Madonna after hearing Papa Don't Preach and getting the True Blue cassette from my brother. Can't wait for that reaction along with Live To Tell and Open Your Heart. Late 80's Madonna was definitely my favorite!
Would loooove to see you guys react to more old school Madonna! I highly suggest a live performance of Dress you up, from the virgin tour. Also love to see y'all react to the band The Donnas. Really great 90's girl rock band. All self taught musicians. Love the channel! 🤗
Omg I'm LIVING for this cuz Crazy For You is my absolute favorite song ever, I'm soooooo happy. It was ACTUALLY the VERY FIRST 45 single that I ever bought with my own money and I was going on 11 lol.
Ahhhh!! 1985 was the year! I was 10 years old this year and obsessed with Madonna & Whitney Houston. This used to be on the radio all the time and went to number one on the Billboard hot 100 chart right after we are the world.
This is one of my favorite songs by her as it shows she really can sing. It's the earliest song I can think of where she sings in a lower register instead of a pre-teen squeak she favored then.
I love this tune - Every time this song came on at the clubs people rushed the Dancefloor with their love. Brought back great memories for me. Thank you.
One of my favorites from her in the 80’s was “Into the Groove”. It’s more fast paced. This tune is another favorite! I was 13 in 1985 when this came out and there were tons of girls dressing just like her!
I think this is from Seeking Susan movie. If you haven't watched Madonna's Dress You Up video you need to. I was 18 when Madonna started doing her thing... Seems like yesterday. Love Madonna!!!
Her first big hit was "Holiday", which is upbeat and fun to move to. Amber, you might like "Live to Tell", which is a pretty ballad and different from her many other hit singles.
I love this song! I love her earlier songs, 80s and 90s like, Open Your Heart, Live to tell, her cover of Love Don't Live Here Anymore, Cherish, Express Yourself.
I was mostly an 80's "rocker chick." But being a dancer, I also enjoyed pop like Madonna & Prince and some new wave. "Crazy for You" was the theme for my Jr. Prom. Ahhh..nostalgic memories are the best
"NOTHING REALLY MATTERS" "RAY OF LIGHT" "DEEPER AND DEEPER" "CHERISH" "EXPRESS YOURSELF" "SECRET" "KEEP IT TOGETHER" "HUNG UP" "DON'T TELL ME" "EROTICA" "BORDERLINE" PLEASE PLEASE try reacting to these songs by Madonna. thanks amber & J. ❤❤❤❤❤
This song and Live to Tell are the two songs that made me realize how good her voice actually was. Before that I didn’t really pay much notice to her music.
Great reaction! Three words for you: "Bitch I'm Madonna" (2015). That is a somewhat more recent song of hers (although she had an album in 2019 as well). You may or may not end up enjoying it but it will give you a taste of something more modern as well as a ton of faces you will likely recognize showing up in the music video. Thanks for this reaction. :-)
Fyi, it was this mega hit ballad that dethroned the famous 'We are the World' by USA For Africa on the Billboard charts iirc. Madonna was shockingly not invited to be part of We are the World despite being present the same night at the AMA 1985!
If you are looking for punchier songs for Female Fridays, then please please please listen to “Middle of the Road” from The Pretenders! The group is headed up by Chrissie Hynde who you have reacted to on “Brass in Pocket”. I promise you Jay is going to love the snarly vocals, heavy rocking guitars and bass on this one. You won’t regret choosing it!
I may be a 70s baby but I'm also an 80s teen. This is one of those songs makes me feel like I stepped into a time machine to takes me back though all the years that I have traveled through since then.
Material Girl and Poppa Don't Preach would be a good place to start for a couple more upbeat ones. Both extremely popular. She's no wild Joan Jett type so that's about as upbeat as she gets. If you want to really hear her VOICE and vocal talent, listen to Don't Cry For Me Argentina from the musical movie Evita (which would be a great one to react to. I didn't know Antonio Bandera could sing, let alone so well)

It was also Grammy nominated.
Jay & Amber, You'll love her "Dress You Up" and "Papa Don't Preach"!!!
Papa Don't Preach is my all time favorite!
My favorite Madonna song. It was so different from her other songs and really made a lot of people aware of how talented she really is.
One of my favorite Songs by Madonna. This came out when I was in middle school (I'm 50 now) and shockingly to me, I still know every word.
We all still know and love every word. Great song.
52 here and same! 🙂
Yes, gonna be 51 in May. It seemed like yesterday but hard to believe that was 30 plus years ago.
I still know the lyrics to all of her music, lmao
mine too and i am in my 50's as well
The way her voice interacts with the music on this song evokes memories decades later that few songs do. It's unique in that respect.
This always takes me directly back to 1985, dating my first serious boyfriend...soon to be ex husband lol
So much admiration for Madonna. She ALWAYS did her own thing. I think you'd like her song "Borderline."
Paved the way for Taylor Swift. Another ALWAYS did her own thing gal.
This is one of Madonna's best ballads or love songs besides Live To Tell. Crazy For You was popular in spring and early summer of 1985.
Actually my two favourite Madonna songs!
I always loved La Isla Bonita, Papa Don't Preach and Like A Prayer. I recently heard Like A Prayer was actually about performing oral smeggs and I was stunned, lol
@@tammyhall3144 I never knew Like A Prayer was about that sexual subject but I believe it.
@@Ken-vk8pb I was floored when I heard that, then I listened to the lyrics and , well, BAM, made sense, lol
Live To Tell is amazing
Express Yourself, Open Your Heart, Papa Don't Preach, Ray of Light, Nothing Really Matters, Hung Up, Music, Sorry. MORE MADONNA! Watch her live performances. She is the greatest live performer in the history of live performing.
It's the song that knocked "We Are The World" by USA For Africa out of #1 in 1985!!! Man, I was so "in love" with Madonna in 1985. I was 13, she was 26. 😊
wow did not know that!
Reminds me of one of my first boyfriends.
Yes!!
Same
I loved Madonna as a singer and I was 13 myself!
Hanky Panky is such a fun song. Lol X)
My favorite of hers is Live to Tell. Deep soulful song. Madonna's softer underside.
@@sdalt001 One of my favorites as well, but they wanted upbeat so I didn't name this one. But honestly, Oh Father, at least to me, is even more moving.
Like a virgin- to shock jay!
That voice - I've been in love with that voice since 1983 - Holiday | Burning Up | Borderline | Lucky Star
Burning up!
We need more reactions to Burning Up.
Having songs like this around made the 80s such a great time to grow up.
This song is from the film "Vision Quest" (1985), which I recommend you guys to react to.
Also, Madonna has taken a lot of stick recently, but in the '80s she was colossal and deserved every bit of her fame. She may have aged, but her music is still fresh.
They should review the other Vision Quest hits ..Journey - Only the Young and Red Ryder Lunatic fringe
Pretty much the full soundtrack to vision quest was awesome. Lunatic fringe was perfect warmup tunes for before a wrestling meet though.
@@barryserpa5174 Lunatic Fringe was a 4 year old song by the time it was used in Vision Quest. It was used to much better effect a year before on Miami Vice. It was first a hit in 1981 from the Red Ryder Album As Far As Siam.
@@reesebn38 I know ! I remember it being on the sound track and hearing it in the movie when i saw it in the theater years ago
I’ll second your recommendation. Vision Quest is one of my favorite movies.
1997 album lol
@@lLushKitty
Actually, ray of light did not come out in 1997. You might be confusing her accelerated vocals, which were trained by Stephen Sondheim for the movie Evita.
This one is my favorite Madonna song! Love the 80's!
Along with this great love song, she has another fantastic love song by the title name of Take a Bow .
good one, but it's another slow jam.
My favorite slow jam by her. I also thought she looked the best in the video.
Visionquest is the movie showing here. I have alot of nostalgia from Madonnas music from the 80's...which is the best of her stuff
‘Live to Tell’ is one of the best Madonna songs from the 80s, definitely put that one on your list. Thank you, your channel is awesome❤️
Madonna Material Girl, Like A virgin and Papa Don’t Preach are 3 that are good from the 80’s for Jay
they reacted to Material Girl, see it here ruclips.net/video/R5mQcNOhboM/видео.html
Thanks, Amber! Thanks, Jay! 💋 This song was featured in VISION QUEST (1985), as the clips in the video suggests. She even has a cameo in the movie, as the singer at the club, also utilized above. #RobSquadReactions #CrazyForYou #Madonna
Very underrated movie as well!
One of my favorite movies ever- it was the start of all those great 80s movies! I just watched it again a couple nights ago. Still holds up pretty well today! Great movie and a great soundtrack
Good movies are a comfort, no matter how much time has elapsed. 🎬
As a wrestler, Vision Quest was a great movie, and Madonna did a great job with this tune.
The star of Vision Quest was Matthew Modine - Papa from Stranger Things.
This song went to #1 in 1985. It's my favorite Madonna ballad.
I also love her ballad “Live to tell.”
This Used To Be My Playground is my favorite ballot of hers.
@@mortimerbrewster3671
This used to be my playground is a masterpiece!
Can't forget about "Oh Father."
Between 1985 and 2000, Madonna was my absolute favorite singer and songwriter. She has had an amazing career.
Madonna's best song. A timeless masterpiece that will live on forever!
no, not even close.
It is certainly one of her best, no doubt.
I love Borderline. ❤️
Brilliant song

This and Cherish are two of my favorite songs from her
Me too. I would listen to those 2 tracks on repeat. Drove my family nuts ;-)
Cherish is my favorite. Early Madonna and so so catchy. That was the one that made me a fan.
I just went and watched the Cherish video and this comment made me laugh out loud. 😂
“Someone said this was one of Madonna's worst singles and I almost slapped them with my mermaid tail.”
@@andyrunton How dare they? 😅
‘Love don’t live here anymore’ really shows her beautiful tone. But my favorite Madonna song is her collaboration with babyface called “take a bow”
Love Madonna...all of us in 85 was dressing like her...the 80s was the best to be a teenager !!!
💖💖💖💖💖
Well, maybe you were. But I wasn't. I was dressing like a 6th Grade boy.
❤❤❤
Madonna had prolific "slow" hits. "Live to tell" or "Take a bow" next, please!!
Prom during my junior year, slow dancing with my boyfriend, and enjoying every minute of it. Ahh, memories. 😊❤
Jordan, En Vogue is a group, Vogue is the song by Madonna.

Right. I hope he or Amber reads the post.
All hail Madonna 👑 my Queen

Holiday
Dress You Up
Ray Of Light 🔥

La Isla Bonita by Madonna is a great song with Spanish flavor! Bet you would like reacting to that song!
La Isla Bonita for sure
Deeper & Deeper, Don't Tell Me, Ray of Light, Beautiful Stranger, Secret
One of my favorite Madonna songs! ❤️❤️
1985 is when my daughter was born! MaDonna songs helped me to loose baby weight by dancing! Not necessarily this one but most of the others! “Like a Virgin” was one of my favorites 💕
till this day my favorite madonna song
then Cherish
then Live to Tell
One of her biggest hits. Simply Madonna. A sweet song.
Ray of light
Rain, Live To Tell, Take A Bow, This Used To Be My Playground by Madonna are awesome
I love Live To Tell, and the movie At Close Range, starring Madonna's then-husband, actor Sean Penn
Great songs but all ballads that Jay probably wouldn’t like
@evwytinguwan Jay needs to like good music. Just because it is slow, doesn't mean it isn't good.😉😀
One of my favorite Madonna songs. Just a beautiful song.
Into the Groove is probably my favorite - her performance of that at Live Aid is phenomenal!
“Gambler” another song from this film. Very uptempo. One of my favourites.
MDNA..❤..Could belt out some ballads...
She is versatile..always re-inventing & re- defining her image & the music scene...eclectic appreciation..
Omg I'm LIVING for this cuz Crazy For You is my absolute favorite song ever, I'm soooooo happy. It was ACTUALLY the VERY FIRST 45 single that I ever bought with my own money and I was going on 11 lol.
I love that song so much. Madonna is the Queen 👑❤️
One of her best songs ... when she still made good music
It's hard to believe how much better her songs are from the first 20 years of her career compared to the last 20.

Ahhhh!! 1985 was the year! I was 10 years old this year and obsessed with Madonna & Whitney Houston. This used to be on the radio all the time and went to number one on the Billboard hot 100 chart right after we are the world.
This and "Cherish" are my favs! 80's baby I was always dressing up to look like her in this video! Hair, gloves, shirt, etc... Loved it!
This is one of my favorite songs by her as it shows she really can sing. It's the earliest song I can think of where she sings in a lower register instead of a pre-teen squeak she favored then.
The song is 'Vogue.'
En Vogue is a great singing group from the 1990s 😊
"Free your mind and the rest will follow!"
I love this tune - Every time this song came on at the clubs people rushed the Dancefloor with their love. Brought back great memories for me. Thank you.
Also, this song is from the film vision quest fantastic movie you guys should check it out!
Madonna is a rabbit hole. She is every eclectic. She did her thing
I realized I can't leave out her 2005 album, Confessions on a Dance Floor. Hung Up and Sorry are fire!
This is one of my favorite Love ballads from Madonna, along with Take A Bow.
Love “Live to tell!”
I love this song! I love her earlier songs, 80s and 90s like, Open Your Heart, Live to tell, her cover of Love Don't Live Here Anymore, Cherish, Express Yourself.
Madonna has explored nearly every genre of music from rock to reggae. you will find different musical styles of her during her career
The song Music was a good example.
I was mostly an 80's "rocker chick." But being a dancer, I also enjoyed pop like Madonna & Prince and some new wave. "Crazy for You" was the theme for my Jr. Prom. Ahhh..nostalgic memories are the best

GET INTO THE GROOVE-MADONNA
This song and Live to Tell are the two songs that made me realize how good her voice actually was. Before that I didn’t really pay much notice to her music.
I believe that was from a movie called Vision Quest. It was at the very beginning 0f Madonna's career.
She has so many great songs it’s hard to pick one. She’s a talented artist.

Material Girl and Poppa Don't Preach would be a good place to start for a couple more upbeat ones. Both extremely popular. She's no wild Joan Jett type so that's about as upbeat as she gets.
