I remember my first time at a rave. I completely stumbled into it by mistake. I was at some other club my friends and I decided to go somewhere else. I was dressed in a dress and some heels. When I walked in the acceptance of the people was fucking ridiculous. They could tell if never been to a rave. I was looking around like a kid in a candy store. Then people started coming up to me giving me kandi (I didn’t have any to trade but I’m sure they knew that) . It was amazing. I broke my heel dancing and had to hop outta there. It was great. I only went once but I think that’s gonna change very soon.
Yes I’m glad your first experience was a fun one!! Go again soon!!
I guess you were a kid in a... kandi store?
When I was 7 it became my dream to go to be a rave baby. I’m 15 now and it is still my dream to be a rave baby. It’s just sounds so accepting and fun
@@leatabinowski532 BRUH DO IT THEN
@@xx_somescenecath0lic_xx888 lots of festivals have an age limit and it's often 18 or above
Never been. I just started dating this chick that’s waayyy out of my league an she likes raving so I gotta keep up 😂
Couples that rave together, stay together xD
You’re not out of anyone’s league
Im in your exact situation my guy
Bro thats me too
bro we are all in the same boat
I went to my first festival a few months ago and immediately fell in love with the culture and atmosphere, I think it’s beautiful that strangers can care for one another and be accepting and inclusive. It’s a very unique atmosphere, I love it
I’m 18, my friend is telling me she won’t continue being friends with me if I start going to raves because I’m stupid to go without going to bars first and shit like that
I’m 31 and I’ve never been to any
@@hobis851that’s dumb as hell
I haven’t been to a rave in so long I miss it. Rave culture is just everything wish it extended outside of raves.
Ghastly is coming to Tampa
Maybe it's just cause I'm old now but in the mid nineties raves were a much different experience. We wore phat pants that were size 40+ on the bottom. There was a lot of drugs, no security, and police busting in around 5am. You found out the location while driving there or searching for someone to take you. Plus the only thing you ever really needed to bring was your own pacifier because picking one up off the ground is never a good idea.
whataqtify I’m guessing you’re from the UK like myself. The 90’s rave scene in the UK is where it all started!
This is how we did it in Detroit too. I don't consider what they do now as Raves. It's a festival not a Rave, raves were underground and secret.
@@emma_m0 Los Angeles in the 90's was the exact same way.
Times might have changed but there still plenty of drugs😂
Still like this in the UK
Agree with most of this, but some are just not realisitic.
1) Meet up points rarely work. Nearly everyone in your group will be on different vibes at some point in the rave and when your under the influence, time is irrelevant. If you plan on seeing the same set, it can work, but even then sometimes its too hard with the crowd and cell reception, so you just gotta find any avilable spot for the set
2) Yes friends are nice, but dont be afraid to go off on your own adventure. Be in the moment. Meet new people and explore. If theres a dj you want to see that no one else does, be bold and go see that dj yourself. You can worry about meeting up later.
1st tip-Ecstasy lots of ecstasy
Understand comment
at a party like that will it be easily available and how expensive
@@haydentegtmeyer564 Oh yeah, it's super easy to get a hold of and it's slightly higher then average.
Lmaooo
‚be with friends!‘ me, going alone to every festival....
Going alone is alot of fun too
I'm 37. A rave to me was usually after-hours, illegal, you found out about it by word-of-mouth, and you'd be high as fuck on ecstasy, coke, speed mixed with some alcohol.
"Candy kids" had more to do with just wearing candy bracelets. lol. and I remember Mod pants.
the thing is americans destroyed rave culture and transformed it in a profit thing, in europe when at the end of the 90s the police repressed free party so all the rave culture dispersed in all europe, to this day the free party culture is going on against repression more or like the old days
@@omar_palx3047 Free parties are still there, but smaller and much rare. You really need to be in the right telegram / signal channels to get wind of m in time.
If I ever went with my friend (which imma try to do when we’re older) we ain’t leaving each other’s sides cuz my anxiety is so bad I would be scared I would get lost. Also I feel more comfortable around her
this was such an informative video!!! ive been wanting to go to a rave or festival (its on my bucket list) and this makes me really excited!!!
I've been to a few raves now but my first festival will be this fall. My friends are all from Pittsburgh, so we're really excited for Lost Lands. I'm just now getting into making more complex kandi with perlers and cuffs and all that and I honestly can't wait to trade at festivals!! 💕
"I absolutely love this persons personality. Its amazing".
My first edm festival is going to be Edc Las Vegas 2020 😭 Just needed to know a few tips 😭
My first was ultra sydney 2020. Hope both of us survive 🤣
Im so jealous
Idk about parties these days, but keep a girlfriend near you. There can be the occasional creep looking to take advantage of some inebriated hot girl
See you there !!
Kelly Garcia Not anymore with the Corona Virus around😂
Wow there’s so much that I didn’t know about raving, thank you for educating me!
thank you so much it is going to be my first time going to hard summer 💜
Going to my first rave later this month! Been listening to edm for years but never been to a festival/rave.
Houston's Freaky Deaky 2019 was so rad...!!!

Thanks for the tips. Headed for my first festival in August. Future Forest in New Brunswick
I was an aussie livingin SF for work when I found this subculture (to me at least) in 2015. Everyone was so awesome, welcomed me in and i still have candy from my very first random night. PLUR everyone! It's such great experience that will make you want to come back for more! xoxo
This is a beautiful video!! Well done 🌈🌈✨💖
I used to go all the time and now I haven’t been to one in year and I’m going TONIGHT to see Dillon Francis and Valentino Khan and this video helped me out. I have Schizotypal Personality Disorder and five other mental illnesses,, and I’m real nervous because I’m socially stunted (especially post covid). This video comforted and eased my mind and helped me remember all the glorious moments I had in the past at raves. Thank you for this kind video 🥰
Great video. Really intresting to watch! 😊
Dal Dhaliwal Thanks for watching!
Enjoyable video. Living the RAVE through your videos.
+Trina Belcik Thanks for watching! Which tip did you find most helpful?
@@FatBoyDoug I am going to my first ever rave in March when beyond wonderland comes to the Nos Center ( my sister who is a rave professional got me tickets )
thank Gosh you said respect is the trading part and unity is where you grab hands! When people added the straight hand to hand as unity and respect as clasping together i was like uhhh..... it kills me a little bit inside every time I trade with someone who does that lol
I love your panda pearler! Definitely subbed (:
+Justshellyanne Thanks so much for your support! :)
Thank you for the information. It's gonna take a few years, but my eldest sister says that she will take me to a festival once I'm old enough.
I went to my first rave psycho circus escape in San Bernardino AND man it was awesome!!!! it changed my life and idk what I was missing on. that was so awesome yo like holy shit. im going to start going a lot more!!!
Went to my first one and now my body feels demolished LOL
As a gamer, I LOVE your intro! And the totem with lights? Super sweet (Kandi aside, LOL)
Wait, the OUTRO is cool, too! For the same reasons why I liked the intro! :)
Haha thanks Steven! I tried to make it as fun and energetic as possible. Thanks for watching!
The totem is a great idea I’ve never thought of
Amazing Content 🍄🌟
Just got my tickets for edc Orlando 2021. Hopefully we have a vaccine by spring so it can happen!!! So excited!!
Fingers crossed!!
Omg the thing with the candys are so cool🤗
I was planning on wearing a trippy jumpsuit. Is that a good idea? It looks so cool 🤯
As long as it’s comfortable, you like it and it’s not offensive then it’s a good idea 😀 the dress code is that there is not a dress code haha
Going to FVDED in July and this was super helpful :D (Especially that cell phone reception thing, oh god woulda been so lost) Thanks a bunch!!

You kind of look like an Asian Ultimate Warrior lol
HAHA! Thanks for watching!
Im going to my first rave (EDC) in may and im so excited!!
That's awesome! EDC is going to be amazing! Are you going with a group?
FatBoyDoug yes I'm going with my best friend and some other people
+Kels S oh good! EDC can be quite overwhelming because of how big it is so having friends to go with is super important!

Going to attend Insomniac countdown NYE 2023 as my first rave. Thanks for the info!
How was it? Did you have fun?
I'd hug you soo hard. Lov this video! Gona be at my 1st BASS CANYON
in August this year, than following that up with my 1st FREAKY DEAKY! Halloween wknd...
Thanks for the video!
This sounds very interesting, would love to join one festival of that sort in the future.
Sad that similiar PLUR concept isn't sawn on other type of festivals.
ty! :) maybe i can get my super flat raver stomach soon yay
I'm almost 40 and have never had the chance to experience any of this but I want to although I feel I've "aged out"
Catherine McDonald you still have a long way to go!
If you want to, just do it.
@@cecilieemanuel4767 Thank you. That means a lot.
@LePupper lol not since covid, not in Iowa
You are definitely not aged out! I didn’t start going to events like this until my mid-thirties. I’m now in my mid-forties and still love it (of course, haven’t been to anything recently bc covid). As he says in the video, the culture by and large is super open, accepting, and all love. No one cares that you’re a bit older than most, and chances are you’ll meet some fun young folx that will make you feel young. Do it (when you can)! 😁
@@bodhibeats8257 Okay y'all got me convinced. I need to go at least once
I don’t been any EMD rave but i do been a lot of rock, alternative + punk rock festival. Everything you said it trust. But I’m too shy ☺️ to meet new people.
Being shy doesn't matter at an EDM festival. Everyone just comes up to you.
my friend at work is trying to get me into rave culture !!!
I love your videos very informal for me for my raves I attended hope to see you at beyond#2019
what kind of camera pole did you use for the totem
Brother your videos are awesome I hope you get more subscribers
+Dick Bluebonnet Thank you so much! Almost to 1000!
Sullivan king Saturday. edc is November. happy raving!
How did this start, like im so invested i really want to go to a festival
I’ve never been to one but after seeing your video here I want to go so bad and met loving people like me who love everyone respect everyone wants peace everywhere and for us to come together and just be happy and have fun. We only live on earth once. I would love to go to a rave. I think I might look around my area. I’m in Pittsburgh. Hope I find something
You're adorable. I love your channel! And yes, planning meet up times/places is so important at any music festivals. Cell service sucks!
+Singer Songwriting School I’ve gotten separated from my friends so many times. Any tips you may have for concerts/festivals?
@@FatBoyDoug pls make sure ur phone is charged just in case ur in an emergency

+bruce moore I’m glad you like the tips! I’ll be at EDC LV too! Search for The Gay Rave and Circuit Almanac on Facebook to join our meetup!!
I remeber my first rave 25 years ago
Going to my first rave (Hard Summer) usually it’s not my scene, i go to a lot of metal shows, hardcore shows. Pretty excited but also a bit nervous.
Oker31333 imagine a metal rave. like an EDM hardcore mosh pit.
Siobhán The Summer Slaughter tour, Mayhem fest when it was around. Warped Tour was a big tour during the summer but it had a bunch of emo bands we all used to listen to in middle school and high school. Lol, Summer Slaughter & Mayhem fest >>
Oker31333 how was it? I went and had a great time. Way better setup than last year 🤟🏼
Jay S definitely wasn’t worth the money spent. It was way too crowded, we did more walking than actually watching sets. We were all rolling hard too. I sold my 2nd day ticket. It isn’t my scene for sure, I’ll stick to metal and hardcore shows. Lol
That totem is so good haha
We wouldn't be allowed to bring those things into events here in Australia :"C
Hi bella, im going to ultra 2020, alone..and actually it will be my first time..can we take food or snack or water from outside? They have tap water inside? And are you going?
@@williamf8316 Sorry man I won't be going to Ultra :( they don't normally let you take food products unless it's chewing gum in a sealed packet, sometimes lollipops too. Thats about it though unfortunately
I've never been and I'm only 13, so it's not happening any time soon, but I've been playing around with a leviwand and now I'm interested in the rest. I think if I didn't have social anxiety and sensitive ears, it would be fun, lol 😅
Sameee
Raves seem so sick, I make Kandi (and have for quite a while) and I learned about raves from the Kandi community. The only thing is I’m really sensitive to flashing lights and loud noises, I wear ear plugs everyday cause the world is too loud for me. So if anyone has a suggestion on how I can go to a Rave and not get a headache that would be great!
Hey man I just moved to LA, see ya at beyond 👀
+Joel Sanchez Welcome to SoCal!
What are the shorts you are wearing at 1:55? They look dope af!
Me and my friend want to go to a rave but we’re not sure witch one to go to
Currently making my own kandi~! 💜💙💚💛🧡❤
+Hi Yay how did it turn out?
@@FatBoyDoug According to my friends: lively, colourful, adorable, and cute as all get out.
I went to Osheaga once and now one of my bestfriends has dragged me into rave/festival culture and I have never been more excited lmfao
Paradiso 2020 baby!!!
Still waiting for official announcement, wooooo!!!
Raves look like so much fun but I’m prone to migraines and the entire environment seems really overwhelming so I’m scared I’ll just be miserable
The Kandi thing is actually really cool?? I didn't know that was a thing
Going by myself. Wish me luck.
Have fun and stay safe!
Thank you for the tips. I’ve always seen raves from blogs, I remember saying I think there’s a documentary on EDC Las Vegas I think it was 2013 or 2014 I forgot what it was but I think it was picked up by vice if I’m not mistaken. I forgot because it was many years ago when I saw the documentary I’m assuming it was. I’ve never been to a rave, but my best friend has(yet he forgets to invite me, but then again, we don’t talk that often, but he takes his other friends). Some kind of friend I have lol. Anyways, thanks for the tips now I just need to know when the best time to go will be how to afford it all. Oh and I’m 31 by the way, just to clarify.
Vlogs not blogs
I’ve been going to raves and festivals for some time now and I always dress like the 80/90s ravers in Europe (bucket hat, shirt, and baggy pants). I always have sprouts and cool fake plants on my hat though
who else is their first time? Im going to the Freaky Deaky at Baytown, Tx. Obviously its from October 29-30 so people will be wearing costumes. Wish me luck
I miss itttt
When I went to tomorrowland in Belgium back in 2019 I didnt see this kandi exchange culture. Is this more of an American music festival thing?
yo bro big fan of your arms I wish some time I could have them too. do you do amazon delivery? ship them to me. thank you.
How expensive are edm festivals?
so ive never been to these but i like the music style so how do i go and make friends there
?
Literally people will love you if you give them chewing gum, water, or fan them when it's really hot
EDM Community is friendly af bro
EDC ORLANDO 2019 !!!! 🤟🏾
I'm going too!cSee you tomorrow!!!!!!
SAME IT WAS COLD LOL
Seems Legit oh my gosh I know!!! I was shivering the entire time!!! And it rained Friday night which didn’t make it any easier haha but it was still so much fun! Hope you had fun too!!
Is it ok to have a totem even if it's only 2-4 people

Never been. Just would like to think I can go go to one and have fun but in reality stay home cause I'm to awkward around people
My first rave was Dreamstate 2k17! Insanely magical! My friend said that he forgot his kandi bracelets... I thought he meant “Candy”. I was so confused but now I’m all about the Kandi Kid life 😍♥️♥️
Next year will be my first EDC ♥️♥️ #BirthdayWeekend!!!
Thanks for this video!!

@@FatBoyDoug I want to go to a rave but I want to make sure I’m safe
I feel like the process of trading Kandi is doing the most 😅😅
Kristen Merkle it’s tradition
Kristen Merkle fr just trade the damn thing
Oke the Rave ends with step 6 for me o/
Europe is a whole different thing compared to US EDM Festivals and Rave
How so? I'm curious :)
@@tasia383 depends because the Rave Scene in Europe is very big and has alot of subcultures going from DnB to Techno to Psytrance to Hardcore to Jungle to Tekno to House...
It's funny how culture is different, would be interested to be at an american rave once.
Basically here we have, or rather had Festivals (fck corona) and private Parties "Illegal Rave". It's a very big scene here so I can't really tell u abt everything in detail.
I wouldn't call Festivals a Rave, for example Tommorowland etc. also never seen Kandi and all that shiny stuff and signs on any Party either. When I think about Rave I think about Free Tekno also bc I like that the most atm. In short words: For me Rave means some collectives/groups having multiple big soundsystems in a field or bunker outside of cities or industry zones. Also no dresscode and stuff, people like to wear different styles to different music but on real raves there is no dresscode, no entrance fee, no security, just people dancing and everything that comes with partying
if you are interested in what I like just search for Teknival (Rave) and Thunderdome(Festival) :) Might sound a bit weird to americans since the european bpm's are way higher than american people are used to
Tutorial on how u made your totem? (:
+Jerrel C Definitely a good idea for a future video! It actually took me a good amount of time to make it but I think it was worth the effort.
Dude where can I get that extendable pole!
aww I want someone to give me their Kandi
at my first rave, a girl came up to me doing the peace sign. I was so confused, I just stared at her and she started laughing. A friend of mine came over and explained what she was doing and walked me through the PLUR handshake and she gave me my first piece of Kandi. I had the best time of my life that night and people were surprised it was my first rave because I was killing it lol. The people are so friendly, accepting, and just overall awesome.
Looks like im gonna be the totem holder since im the tallest of my friends
Can't wait for freaky deaky

Plan things out ahead? By the time the acid or molly drops, that schedule is out the window faster than strategy during a Russian invasion...we try so often...
Been raving for about 20 years, underground raves, small raves, local clubs or big commercial events, I've done m all.
All you really need is a water bottle and a charged phone anything else can be arranged on location. How often i've lost mates(toilet/beer run) or completely spaced out at the wrong stage...uncountable XD
I've never not met up with the group afterwards though, when some people didnt return we texted toncheck if they're ok and went on our ways.
i'm an oldskool raver, a kandi kid,we wear wide raver pants.
In the uk u need vodka ket coke water and wkd
I’ve never really been to a rave, and I’ve never knew about kandi either, what if I don’t have any kandi to begin with? Can I get them somewhere?
Check out my other videos where I show you how to make your own kandi! It includes links in the descriptions for the items to make the kandi :)
So im a straight edge Metalhead and going to my very first rave this summer! My long time friend is a hardcore rave goer and he goes with his volleyball team. He asked me to come and its to help me get out of my bubble. Also, I had a rough last year due to breakup and passing of my loved one. So I have an idea how wild raves can get (drugs, hookups, etc. .. But how do I survive.. Being the only sober person?! I feel I will be so out of place. 😣
I'm only 13 and already daydream about my first rave LOL. My only concern is the noise. Would you have to wear earplugs to protect your hearing, or is the music not that extreme? I live for the bass, so I hope it is!!
Trust me, wear plugs. It's not even an discussion.
