in the security world that's what they call a "Cooler" honestly one of the best kind of bouncers in my opinion... Less fights.. everyone generally has a better time because there's not this aggressive presence lurking in the corner.. my best friend was my co security and he was the more aggressive type so we ran the place with an approach I handled 99% of the interaction and 1st contact unless a fight physically broke out he just sat at the door and checked IDs.. very rarely with that kind of a combo does the more aggressive bouncer have to come out of his corner.. and while I was a cooler myself I never ran into a situation(unless it was multiple guys I was trying to coral) that I couldn't handle it solo.. Just talking and mutual respect definitely ended most conflict.
Lol. Not really. Bouncers can't have the mentality of American police officers or rent-a-cops. American police are trained to escalate and aggressively assert authority "until people comply". Most bouncers get their start after a club or bar owner runs into them on the street, sees how they hold themselves and interact with hostile people, and offers them a job pending they can qualify for their guard-card. I'm not joking. A bouncers job is to not get pushed around, not allow people to get pushed around, but also to stay fk'n calm and descalate even when people are intoxicated irrational confrontational assholes.

I am brazilian, and one of the biggest culture shocks in Europe were that bouncers deny entrance to people on clubs for no reason. Here in Brazil they will only deny you for a lack of ID, or maybe if you are violating the dress code(which we rarely have). In Europe I learnt pretty quickly that I would be sometimes denied if I am alone, so I would have to call my friends out so they let me in.
one of the reasons i never went clubbing. not only a wasteof time and money, but a waste of your life. people theredont like you, they only want you to spend. be it the club, be it the broads. it doesnt matter. its all garbage.

How could you have a latino club with only Parisian people inside?? Bet they don’t even know the lyrics to half the songs… Sh!tt!est club ever. But yes in general there are a lot of different reasons you might not get in, here in Europe. I must have been the only person not shocked at the sneakers rule, thats very common for a lot of bars here. Also unironed shirts, jeans, cargo, shorts, some places even recquire women to wear heals and men to wear belts. I've also seen people being rejected for lgbt-looking outfits in places that arent specifically lgbt-frindly, and the more common situations like being alone, being a dude, especially if you're not conventionally hot, and being too old for the club's target audience.

Actually, that's a remarkably ignorant comment. Where I worked we didn't hire morons, one had a phd, another was a barrister, many including myself were studying at university. Assessing who to approach first in a fight, and how to handle them so as to minimize damage (to all parties) while adrenaline is pumping and music blaring can be extremely challenging. I remember being younger and uglier and not being able to get into any club, the way they would disregard you and treat you like you're not even a person. And even go to physical agression when all you're trying to do is ask why you aren't allowed in is the reason why my hate for these fuckers will never leave. Now I never get refused by bouncers i've come to realize the best places to party are places where a bouncer isn't required in the first place. Flawed logic, dress codes are for various reasons that are completely unrelated to someone puking who has been over served. So many obnoxious patrons forget that it's not a free place to chill, it's a business and typically, reasonably dressed spend more and cause less of a scene. Based on that premise, if you look like you just rolled out of bed wearing the same pjs you've had on the last 4 nights, I won't let you in. Not because of some power Trip or whatever bullshit you wanna think up to throw blame on me, but because you may come in and snag a couple beers and meanwhile that group of nicely dressed people going out to spend plenty of money after work/some event decide to go elsewhere because half the people look like bums. Nobody walks into a venue, sees people decently dressed and decides it's sketchy, let's leave, but people absolutely have walked into venues I've worked and walked back out because everyone was dressed in some mix of uncaring college senior/crack addict/ pants sagging visibly to their knees. Dress code isn't to turn a club into a black tie affair, it's to ensure that you don't get the rep as the shithole bar that no decent person goes to. You get that rep and it becomes reality and before long every customer is either the type to come buy one 3$ beer and nurse it for 4 hours or ready to cause a scene with the first person to bump into them.

I'll be honest, I've seen another video though it was in Russian, on the topic of what pisses off a bouncer, and he spoke way more chill and even gave examples why he did not let people into to the place (being drunk, puking, disrespecting staff/other patrons in line) like less dress code, more real issues.

He said it was all fake and that I looked like a polish refugee. I responded "so I'm a polish refugee, with a danish name, that speaks danish, lives and studies in Denmark?" Then he pushed me down a flight of stairs where I hit 8-10 other people. He then came down the stairs to put me in an armbar and punch me in the stomach.
It does really depend on the club though. I always go to parties with a ticket and they basically can't deny entrance, except if you're pissed af.

Damn, the accuracy!
I feel like there's a lot of wiggle room between puking on the floor and wearing sneakers.

As a bouncer I take offense to this. How about we replace your job with a robot.

@@benberk8541 i think he was talking simply about the doorman.. not the security inside
Rule #1, don’t disagree with the arbitrary and random opinions of the douche-faced, power-trippin bouncers. Rule #2, be a normal human being by dressing appropriately and not acting like a frat kid in line. Thanks Vice, this video was so insightful.
I always thought many bouncers are way far up in their own arse, glad seeing people feel the same way.
Definitely
Most are a joke
Lmao no club or bar has ever refused me for wearing Jordans lmao
just don't try to fight the bouncers and you will be mostly ok
mostly...
Unless you actually have done that kicked the shit out of them and then they had to call the cops and you had to get the fuck out and then you didnt get to go into the club because your picture is on the wall and your banned for hospitalizing the bouncer

these bouncers seem like they are on a power trip
Jonathan DeVries Mate! You’d swear they are saving the planet they way their going on ...
If you think this is a power trip you need to get out your basement. They seem pretty normal and friendly, especially for how annoyed they must get every night on the job. You probably say to the cashier "I guess i'l have it for free then" when something doesn't scan right.
Arkhzeus you stfu dumb ass. Guarantee these clowns think more of themselves than they should.

Vice, why did y’all upload this with audio of the chick being so scratchy and muffled? 🤦🏼♀️

Its not poor audio, she just has a terribly obnoxious nasally voice

Truest shit 2k19, bouncers ALWAYS have social complexes that they project on their customers. They dont get that they are there to protect the clients and that the clients fund their fucking job.

I always find curious the whole reason to wear sneakers-sweatpants-hoodie-cap in a expensive night out at the club. I get that when you are famous and rich you will get away with a lot of stuff, that is the pleasure on that... but regular people? Like... why some men go to a expensive place wearing overpriced toddler clothes that sometimes are not even original stuff? I'm all fine wearing this on regular activities not related to job [well, jobs were you have to look "professional"]... but to go to a nightclub or bar?

If I can't wear sneakers in your bar, I'll go to a bar where I can.
Eh , I almost got bounced out of a club for sitting in a corner , minding my own business, enjoying my drinks, keeping an eye on my friends drinks and watching others do their thing and have their fun. I was causing fewer problems than the fight that broke out behind him.
Never been to a nightclub, and I now have 0 desire to experience it.
Guyana Redbone you’re gonna miss out on a fun, sociable experience just because of a RUclips video? Wow my dude you need to get out more and realise there’s more to life than the internet :|
Wayne Kerr I do a lot of rock climbing and hiking. In fact my gym has a bar at it for afterwards. Never really was interested to go to a nightclub, and this video plus the comments seals the deal. There’s a lot better things out there in life. I’m sure I’ll do it once just for the experience. Smoke some weed and climb a mountain with a friend. That’s a good time.
Guyana Redbone okay I’m really not interested in your life story, I’m just saying don’t knock it til you tried it, especially not on the basis of one video of some moron bouncers.. they’re no bother on a night out, if you give them no trouble they’ll give you no trouble

Guy wearing t-shirt telling people not to wear sneakers. That’s rich.
No, you are just stupid. For one, he isn't someone going to the club and probably isn't on the job as he is doing an interview (pretty fucking obvious). Sneakers aren't formal or plain, but T-shirts can be, also they don't imply you may be a problem later like sneakers and joggers/tracksuit bottoms would (According to the bouncers).
