My friend has been living there for years and doesn't have a degree. He currently works at an international school in Bangkok, which is one of many teaching jobs he's had

I can’t talk about the Thailand process, but it sounds similar to the Chinese. I’ve worked in China for 8 years, the process has been updated and is rigid in its application process, a degree is needed in all cases here to legally work in a school. Working online as a teacher is possible but you’ll not get a work visa for that, you’ll need a business visa, this type of visa will need updating every 3 months. My tip for working in any country is to always follow the process and laws in place, I’ve heard of some awful stories of foreigners going to prison before being deported, and there appears no recourse to the employer who gave you the job. So be careful of anyone saying they can get you the visa if you don’t have what is required.

Hey please I have two questions in regards to Thailand, do you know if I can get the nomad visa working online? another question: for the work visa, what if I had a TEFL certificate, an associate degree and was a communications 3rd year undergraduate. (my school is online). would I be able to secure a work visa/job placement in that category?

@@gbemisolamalette9949 as far as I know a degree and TEFL is needed to teach in Thailand (and China) the TEFL may not be needed if you have 2 years experience. Digital nomad visas are not a thing in Thailand yet, many South American and European countries have digital nomad visas. Do a Google search to find out more. Good luck

*China is strict.. South Asia is not.. Even if the police found out you're not a different visa they don't care. If you're a native white teacher that is. If you're NOT from the top 5 English native English speaking countries, or G7 countries you will get in a lot trouble*

Easy to get a job but hard to get visa assistance without a degree so short term easy to do it for a few months untill immigration ask why so long a tourist. The school tends to work with agencies and most schools leave everything to the agencies and the agencies many times dont provide visa assistance but just hire and take no responsibility if the teacher runs into problems getting a visa. Basically you can get a job the problem comes when you go to immigration for new visas down the line.

I’m currently a teaching assistant at a elementary school In the United States as well as a English tutor for elementary school grades 1st-5th. I passed all of my states requirements as far as taking the cbest and cset, and have experience with classroom instruction, lesson planning, school administration, and working with kids who’s first language is Spanish. I was wondering would that be enough to teach in Thailand ?

Do you need a degree specifically in teaching English? I have my bachelors of science in mechanical engineering from a USA accredited university. I have been working as a mechanical engineer for 20 years. I was thinking of taking an early retirement and living in Thailand. It would be nice to have a little extra income.

Hi, when you mention university degree, it's too general. You just need a bachelor's degree and in this case, you can get it without studying at a university. Is that right?

*The issue is not the visas in Thailand, the issue is the salary and Agency, and the endless visa runs. You will lose your sanity in Thailand. You are a walking ATM in Thailand. The visas are so complicated you will go crazy. and agencies all lie and you will be fired in Thai school for blinking too many times. and they're obsessed with the AC so enjoy working in a meat freezer*
