I just got the AVM90 and sounds phenomenal the sound is so good and crisp on movies an music. For better bass I had to move the target curve after running ARC, and results were stunning. Happy with my AVM90.
I agree with Jeremy i am saving up for avm90 because of people's perspective on listening to the differance..i only read 1 person that on avs that said he couldn't tell the differance between the two...that was not enough to discouraged my thoughts vs the people that did notice the differance..can't wait..great topic
I had an Anthem AVM20 for many years, upgraded that to an AVM60 years back, and last week upgraded to an AVM90. I can't comment on the 70 as I have not tried it - I can say that with the same speakers/power - the difference in the sound quality of the AVM90 vs the others is unreal. The web based user interface is a nice improvement, as is the multiple sub option. The main difference is the sound. I did have some problems getting the firmware updated, but was successful eventually. I also could not get Arc Genesis to run on my brand new MacBook Pro at all, it would not recognize the Mic. I could not get it to run on my older MacBook pro either, it would run but kept stopping saying "Critical Audio Error" - I was able to successfully get it to run on my Windows laptop.....
A lot of hope for $7000 dollars, I have not seen one AVR worth $7000. I haven’t seen enough technical advances or competence from Anthem to justify those bloated prices.
In a world were a near $20k Trinnov is the pinnacle and even Denon/Marantz is stepping up their pricing by a lot, unfortunately $7k is going to become a "norm" for a really premium processor.
I like to use the miniDSP2x4HD and focus ARCg on the tilt and up due to the limited filters. I get 10 filters in miniDSP, only 5 in ARCg. Combined, they are a dream.
Too many issues with Anthem and ARC Genesis right now. I loved my AVM60, but Genesis was quirky if you didn't have the right version, and the 70 and 90 are still having issues. Solved that with a HTP-1 and Dirac, which is an amazing room correction when you get accustomed to working with it.
Jeremy 8-24, it's a year later now. If cost isn't a concern, do you think that the 90 doesn't need the str for higher end 4 or 2 ohm speakers for music listening? What would you do if money wasn't a factor?
have MRX 540 and love ARC, you can modify curves to suit and upload after ARC does its thing...sending love and peace to everyone...using pre-out to a couple bridged Bryston (KLH5) and a Wyred for Sound amp (Totem Model 1 Sig)...using Anthem internal amp for Triangle centre speaker...edit: + 2 SVS sealed 12" subs
Anthem says you can't have an IP control system or RS232 connected when running ARC. A lot of complaints about ARC could be avoided if everyone just spent a few minutes reading their notes
I’m returning my AVM 70… still sucks the life out of the low end. Measures ok using REW but when listening, the low end is worse than the system I am looking to replace. I used all the Genesis adjustments but ran out of adjustment range. looking at REW measurements with ARC on/off.. it wasn’t doing anything that my older processor couldn’t do.
ARC has been in perpetual beta for years now. Always seems to be something that needs fixing. I still can't believe they don't let you customize the curve exactly as you want it. Dirac and pretty much everyone else allows direct edits on the curve. 🙄
Overpriced, compared to the 70, nearly double. Over the last 5 years, these products from all the manufacturers the prices have rocketed. They have gone up 10 times faster than inflation. The days are gone when a new product is released, where it is a couple hundred dollars/pounds more than the outgoing product, it is now thousands of dollars/pounds increase. The typical increase these days is 1500 dollars/pounds. These days, they do an increase for the manufacturer and a separate increase for the dealer that hits the consumer twice. Like denon their flagship avr doesn't have flagship dacs when it used to. If they make a processor, they take the amps out and charge 25% more because its a processor. All a rip off.
Jaremy doesn't like highs and I understand why anytime I've tried to demo Focal speakers my ears bleed and knowing you have Focal unfortunately that is probably causing you to hate high frequencies lol

Thanks! The fact that I bought my STR from a guy that had bought a 90 and felt it matched the STR intrigues me a lot. :)

AVR🤔🤔
Thats a good comparison the next step is 16 to 20k at the same level😮😮

What new technology does not need work.
I run two AVM70’s with no issues.

Yeah its funny, why did he buy Focal? They are known for being bright speakers. Maybe, oh its a good brand why not.....
Aaron looked bored.
Garbage construction... I bought it a few weeks ago and the construction is terrible. My Marantz 8805 is far better built.
Do you care about construction of av or performance? Avm 99 far better than 8805, and also arc genesis superior to Audysy
