I just bought a harmonica a couple of days ago, because I sit in a forklift all night on an industrial site in Northern Canada. But, I'm not that busy. It's no place for me to bring my guitar, and I've always wanted to learn a harmonica. And if you think about it, it's pretty ridiculous that there's this weird character, in the dark, sitting in a forklift, playing a harmonica. So, I was looking around on RUclips, and I found you. Since then I've been entertaining the heck out of myself in my forklift, because I've been learning from your videos. But that's not why I'm taking the time to write a comment on here. The reason I'm writing a comment is because I want to tell you, that you're maybe one of the coolest people I've ever seen do any kind of instructional video on RUclips. Just your vibe, is so awesome. You are definitely a very rad human being!
That’s great. I would recommend this lesson first as it is easier. m.ruclips.net/video/atTJlGR6K9w/видео.html just need key C harmonica. If you need one please check out juzziesmith.com/store/juzzie-smith-blues-harmonica/ Still 85yrs young 😊
Juzzie Smith, You are the BEST !! A good friend who played harmonica for 65 years recently passed away. He could make the instrument walk and talk, and was a joy to hear, solo, or with the many musicians he jammed with over the years. When she learned that he played harmonica, the doctor in the ICU put together a multi-hour blues harmonica play list, to help ease his passing into the next world... Bless her heart... Some time later, his friends discovered his legacy, a mini-SD card [ one-quarter the size of a postage stamp ] containing hours of his playing and jamming, material for a CD he never got to put together... OMG, What a Treasure ! His friends will be playing along at his memorial...
OMGGGGGGG THANK YOUUUUU!!! I've been trying to play a blues lick for 30 years and never managed it once - I'm 41 and today thanks to you FINALLY!!! I played my first ever harmonica blues lick!!!!! YOU ARE THE BEST TEACHER EVER!
That’s great Gemma. Well done! If you would like more fun lessons checkout my Patreon. This will take you to a whole new level 😁 www.patreon.com/juzziesmithofficial
I got a my harp when i was 11 years old. Thats now 17 years ago. It was getting dusty in the drawer ever since. A couple weeks ago i took it out and learned the iconic riff from once upon a time in the west for the birthday of a friend of mine. Now i stumbled across this friendly looking and authentic guy. Thank you, i already learned a lot. You‘re creating a great athmosphere in your videos! Great guy
Thank you for showing us a very simple riff. I've been playing around with the harmonica for a couple of years and really enjoy it. I play only by ear and would love to see more of your videos on riffs for the blues. You make it easy to understand how to either draw or blow on the sound that is needed. Thank you.
That is an iconic riff and I'm now dusting of the 10 hole to master it. You are amazing teacher and listen to your music while I ride my motorbike coz it got soul. 😊
Honestly I've wanted to learn the harmonica for years as I always though it was such a cool instrument. I bought one a few months ago and kind of gave up pretty quickly when I realised how long it must take to master. However, your videos are so easy to watch and understand, and then there's how good you make them sound, you've given me a second wind to stick with it. Much love.
If I may suggest when starting…if you overplay your lips and mouth get tired until they “muscle up” and your lips develop “calluses”. I got frustrated at first until I got past that. 15 mins is a good start.
Thank you! I have never heard anyone play as well as my grandmother - I wish I had a recording of it. Yours is the first lesson I can follow, so I hope to take your formal lessons soon!
Love this lick. I never could get the guitar and harmonica together. I spent the late 60s and early 70s driving across Texas at night traveling from one rodeo to the next holding the steering wheel with my knees playing country songs on the harp.
Just did a road trip with my daughter. Stopped at the cumberland gap and bought a harmonica. Seems as though Juzzie will be my teacher. Thank you for breaking so much down in your videos.
Juzzie your a talented artist and someone everyone can relate to. You have a love of music and it shows . It Brings out the best in us beginners and makes us want to learn . You found your calling . Thank you . Keep the videos coming .
I've enjoyed watching your instructional videos. My uncle was a harmonica player. He passed away recently and I inherited his case of harmonicas. I've thought of learning to play them and after watching your videos; I think its time to begin. Thank you for sharing your gift of talent.
Thank you for explaining what I have been doing for 60 plus years. I could never tell anyone how I was playing I just figured it out and played. lol Nice job.
I was a commercial electrician fo 25 years...I used to take my harmonica to work .. when I got comments I just reminded everyone how weird it was to me that every one so attached to their phone
I love this rift and your way of teaching. It’s simple enough for me to grab a hold of it. I’ve been blowing the harmonica for a while, but have never been able to play along with a blues riff. I love this sound so much.❤
I pick up the bass last April (2022), never play a instrument in my 63 years. I know play in the band at our church and have sat in on a few jams. The mouth harp has always been on my list. Yes Muddy Waters’, “Manish Boy”, is THE song. You can Juan, improve lyrics etc. Your tutorial earned my subscription.
Picked up a harmonica for the 1st time 2 weeks ago ...after watching one of your performances on youtube ...now absolutely addicted to learning it .Thankyou for the inspiration
I got a cheap harmonica when I was a kid. I had no attention span and no patience, plus nobody to teach me, so it went into a drawer. I moved to drums and percussion and I was pretty good right out of the box, so I stuck with it until I was through college. The other day I mentioned to my wife that a harp might be fun to have so I could jam with my blues playing guitar buddies and she surprised me with a Fender Blues Deluxe. As I got to know the instrument, I could tell there were a few things I didn't like about it, so I went and bought an East Top 008K in C. Quite a difference! I'm stepping through your lesson package and watching your videos. I may actually know what I'm doing some day, I'm having a blast!
Thanks David. If you would like more weekly lessons my patreon has lots of great content for learning in a fun way. It only costs $3 a month so really great value. Here is the link if you would like to check it out 😊 www.patreon.com/juzziesmithofficial

I stumbled across this video and honestly can’t remember how I ended up here lol. I have played guitar so long it just comes naturally. So music is in my blood and I said what would be a fun add on instrument. So one day on a trip I stopped by Cracker Barrel and picked a cheap 10$ harmonica and had a lot of fun. Well I was gifted one in the key of E and had good intentions for it but I never was able to get it to do what i wanted to do with it. This video was one of those were it’s like oh it was that simple but I would never had figured it out. Great video. You did an excellent job explaining how to play. Now I wish I still had my harmonica in the hey of C lol.
the first time i seen you play at the redcliffe markets in qld australia i sat there listened to your whole set, i loved your sound, i brought all your cd's that day then brought a set of harps now i play while driving while listening to your how to play harp cd. to anyone out there wanting to learn harp, buy juzzies cd.

Thanks mate. Great story. I also loved listening to old blues and try to work out the licks and grooves by ear. Such a great skill to learn by ear. This was my main reason for creating my harmonica course ‘Press Play & Blow Away’ as I wanted to teach other so they can learn just from listening 👍 have fun learning 🎶
I finally let my desire to play music take hold pretty late in life. Started to learn guitar at 37, had a good teacher who through trial and error finally got it to click for me when he started me playing the blues. I imagine that’s the way for many given the relative simplicity of the blues. I took up the harmonica a bit later and can play along pretty well to any song when I know the key and can get the right harp. This little set of lessons is really good Juzz. Reminds me very much of my guitar teacher. You break it down nicely into logical structures and your casual passion for emphasising the importance of the feel and enjoyment just takes it from there. Very cool.
Your the best ,I’ve been trying to play all my life ,saw a old guy on the street corner in Philadelphia when I was a little kid and was hooked now I’m 66 but can’t play very good but this lesson here is just what I needed, thanks
There are several brands of tremolos that try to market themselves as blues harmonicas. Some of the ads call them diatonics (which technically they are) but it confuses new players. They show up on the forums wondering why it doesn't sound like they want. Occasionally we'll get people who inherited a chromatic or something, but thankfully, new players tend not to shell out for a chromatic without checking things out. When I saw your title I was guessing the riff from Juke, but you are right, that's way more iconic. :)
Had a guy at a bar give me my first harmonica last week. Always wanted one, never bought it. Then I found you as I looked for lessons online. What a breath of fresh air you are, sir! Your energy is fantastic and you're always smiling. The world needs more of you. I ordered a Hohner Special 20 the other day, hope it's got the growl I'm looking for but either way, I think I'll take your course and get after it. You have truly inspired me with this little lick here and with some practice I'll get it down. I confuse the suck and blow lmao. I hope this message finds you well and thank you for the great energy!
Eighty three years old , started at thirteen, stoped till my wife died 😢. Just started abut one month ago. Don’t have time to advance to far , fun trying. Play gospel music, trying to bend, can’t tell I am able to tell if I am successful or not. You are a gifted teacher, thanks and God Bless. 18:45
I now got 2 Midnight blues Harmonica (mouthplay) in Sweden 😅 one key of C and last one key of G because i want train sound 😁 I begin to lissen to other on RUclips who learn out to play harmonica, but always go back to you because youre so great person and so mutch heart! Its so rare to find this days! I wish to see you live sometime in Sweden! I be the first to buy ticket ❤ P.D from Sweden
Cool! My boy likes the harmonica and can't play a note and neither can i. I will show him this video. You made that so simple i believe he will take off. Thank's
That’s great. I would recommend 3 easy grooves as it is an easy lesson and you will both sound amazing. Have fun m.ruclips.net/video/atTJlGR6K9w/видео.html
My father bought me a harp when I was eight years old and he taught me the easiest tune to learn on a harmonica "three blind mice" I mastered that tune in a day and I've been playing the instrument ever since and I am currently teaching my grandson's to play anything they want just like their grandpappy 😉
I've had a harmonica for a few years now and tried to learn how to play and until I saw you here on RUclips I just havent enjoyed it. I loved this lesson, thanks and keep them coming!
Hi Juzzy cheers for this I have your cd's in the UK I met you a few times on the sunny coast where you were busking I love your attitude and positive disposition. I smile just watching you be YOU!I look forward to seeing more here and hope you make a million from RUclips you are the man!
Thank you, helped me a lot. I didn't realize I have improved over the past months just playing from the little music in my head. I'll get a beat in my head or hear something that sounds good ,like what I just heard you playing and I try to replicate it on the harmonica, then I'll record it because it helps me listen to my mistakes. I'll never be professional, really not trying to be but just playing something from my mind, heart that makes me and others feel good. That's what I believe music should be to make you feel good, happy and put a smile in someone's heart. I truly believe music and laughter can bring healing to the body and soul. I love music and I love laughter but more than that is to give or bring that out of people and we all can make this joyful sound that makes music and make someone's day better and they leave a better person. Thank you again. Subscribed and make this world a better place with joyful music.
Always wished in my life that I would have met someone like you you seem so easy to listen to and it's obvious you just love what you're doing and I do too thank you
I'm 66 years old. Bought a harmonic many years ago and didn't really mess with it much. Now I'm retired and really want to learn to play. Thanks for your videos and giving me things to practice and work on. I have much to learn. 😎✌️
When I was a kid my dad played a Hohner harmonica and would allow my brother and I to blow on it. He could play a few songs on it but for some reason never taught us. Now at 76 I'm learning both the harmonica and the ukulele. Such fun! Great teaching!

the only weird thing about the image you painted is if you didn't paint it!
A good teacher makes you believe that you can do something and enthuses confidence and belief, this man is cool.
Thanks 😊

I was privileged to hear Paul Jones of the 60s group Manfred Mann and he could sure play harmonica ❤
This man's vibe is pure bliss and love. He is Godly.
Love this lick. I never could get the guitar and harmonica together. I spent the late 60s and early 70s driving across Texas at night traveling from one rodeo to the next holding the steering wheel with my knees playing country songs on the harp.
Learning to play at 46..love the sound of blues on the harmonica.. Will b watching intensely...

Eighty three years old , started at thirteen, stoped till my wife died 😢.
Just started abut one month ago. Don’t have time to advance to far , fun trying.
Play gospel music, trying to bend, can’t tell I am able to tell if I am successful or not.

Great teacher. You make it sound so easy!
My father bought me a harp when I was eight years old and he taught me the easiest tune to learn on a harmonica "three blind mice" I mastered that tune in a day and I've been playing the instrument ever since and I am currently teaching my grandson's to play anything they want just like their grandpappy 😉
That’s great 😊
Great teaching..great style. .great fun..love it!
I've had a harmonica for a few years now and tried to learn how to play and until I saw you here on RUclips I just havent enjoyed it.

Dude you rock. Thanks for the simplicity!!
Loving this and having fun!
Awesome. Well done 👍
Never thought I would be saying I'm so glad I have this in my algorithm.
That’s great. Keep playing and feeling the joy 😊

I'm 66 years old. Bought a harmonic many years ago and didn't really mess with it much. Now I'm retired and really want to learn to play. Thanks for your videos and giving me things to practice and work on. I have much to learn. 😎✌️
Man is this guy ever a beauty, you da man Juzzie
Thanks Robert
When I was a kid my dad played a Hohner harmonica and would allow my brother and I to blow on it. He could play a few songs on it but for some reason never taught us. Now at 76 I'm learning both the harmonica and the ukulele. Such fun! Great teaching!
