Not including the Furious Five is a... choice. The wrong choice, if you ask me. It's a clear mistake to ignore characters that have been involved in the story and the protagonist's development from the start. It sounds like they wasted Tai Lung too, which is a real shame because they could've done something truly interesting with his character and further explored the dynamic between him and Po. If you're going to bring a dead character back, you need to make it count.

my greatest disappointment from the film was the final fight. Something felt wrong with the chameleon shape shifting into monstrosity that combined every animal she stole the form of.
That’s probably how I’d describe the movie, lackluster and “off”. Even the models look weird, not just Zhen, compare the wolves and bulls to previous movies. The bulls are more noticeable with their eyes but more details weird when you look back at the designs of the three movies.
Even the soundtrack wasn’t as memorable to me. I think when they first arrived at Juniper City, that was the ost that stood out most.
Needless to say I was disappointed. It doesn’t feel like a kfp movie.

I would actually say it’s a bad movie rather than okay, if you take the context for the series, it kind of destroys every single character arc every character has. Your saying shifu of all people doesn’t want to investigate the possibility the tai lung has returned? Shifu the same guy who said “double the guards, double everything” at the mere thought of him escaping.
Shifu also wants the furious five to handle it? After they got bodied by tai lung in the first movie?
Then they make po’s panda dad a joke and a coward.. and i think at one point they even make the joke about him “feeling like a warrior”…. But…he is a warrior…? In KF2 in po’s flashback you literally see him defending his village against shen, he is not a coward.
And po? I think that’s the most obvious… po feeling insecure about “who am i if not the dragon warrior” is the most redundant plot point because the past three movies are literally about that. Even the first, “there is no secret ingredient, it’s just you”

    • @blu3rice611
      @blu3rice611 3 месяца назад +3

My only defense for Po’s dad is maybe only at times when his family’s lives are in danger, he becomes brave, but every other time or when stakes aren’t as high, he shows his coward side. But I think making Po’s dad and the rest of the Pandas a joke was not a great choice either imo.

You think shifu cares about tai lung now. First off shifu only lost to tai lung because he realized he was wrong. As you see during their fight he was on the defensive most of the time. Secondly the furious five are like 5 times stronger than they were in the first movie. They could easily take tai lung. And his dad isn’t a coward. It’s more like a fight or flight response. Of course when he’s in danger he will fight for him and his family. It’s not a bad movie by any means. Is it great no. But it’s a decent movie. I watched it twice and enjoyed it both times .

Yea, the movie went strong for most of its time until after the Tai Lungs fight, and I mean more like specific issues like bringing Kai back, Chameleon spawn camping Shen instantly, the caged villains not having a bit more chat during the fight, and Zhen finishing off chameleon too easily - they should have shown her at least exhausted to justify that one-shot from Zhen, we don't need another Rey situation.
The movie might be weak for many others people on what it missed, but it still left a strong set up with Zhen as dragon warrior and Po as spiritual leader for next 2 movies - different branches of the same 2 paths of Po and Oogway went through could be explored from new perspective of new characters. And since F5 was kinda skipped in KFP 4, the character interaction between them, Zhen and new Po would hit the fanbase much better.
If they get a proper budged and a good director, they can absolutely make an awesome movie

I still feel like this movie missed everything that made the first Kung Fu Pandas such great movies, which is the overall message being conveyed and understood by the end and having a resolution everyone feels good about
Bringing Tai Lung back just for a nostalgic cameo is such a waste for his character, which is one of the best in KFP, it would have been amazing if he was brought back and was defeated, his defeat couls have wounded him deeply emotionally convinced maybe he was always a faliure, then through out the film he decides he has to help Po defea the villian and you coudlnhave some insanely deep moments with Po and Tai Lung sinply talking, outting Tai Lungs views on the world and himself into question then in the final battle when it looks like Po might lose and Tai Lung is given the opportunity to betray Po he refuses and helps Po in the final encounter showing how he has evolved past his anger and hatred and his humbling makes Po decide to make him the new Dragon Warrior.
Thsi would have been the best arc in Kung Fu Panda is this was how things played out.
This would have fit into the message of change the movie was going for and would have helped finish Tai Lungs character arc with him coming back as a better person and reuniting him with shifu at the end and both apologising for each of their mistakes.
The little fox character was just annoying honestly but i would have prefered it if in this movie the furious 5 were disbanding to pursue their own future. Po would have a hard time reconciling with this since he doesnt wa t everone to leave him and in the end when he accept that he too must change to pursue his own future this would call Po to create a new furious 5 with Zhen possiblly leading the new team being trained by Po.
Had this been the story we could have had many character fo through their respective arcs and possibly had one of the best Kung Fu Panda films
Po learns to accept change and embracses his role as spiritual leader and teacher
Tai Lung learns where he went wrong and changes to put aside his self entitlement and brutality for a slighly more gentle nature
And Zhen puts her life of crime behind her to better herself and become more than what she was

I was intrigued at the idea especially since Lord Shen (my favorite villain) was killed
When Tai Lung and Kai were sent to the spirit realm
I wanted to see them interact with each other but sadly Kai and Shen didn't speak at all nor they didn't interact
Also when Po was told it's time to chose the next dragon warrior
I thought who is he gonna pick but when the first trailer dropped and the Furious Five weren't present and Zhen was the only character next to Po

I just watched the fourth one yesterday. I really do enjoy the Kung Fu Panda franchise for the visuals, storytelling, and the deeper messages of discovering oneself. The villians are badass.
The fourth one is watchable, but there was a lot of missed potential with this movie. The chameleon stealing the Furious Five’s abilities and forms would have been cool. Also, I am bothered by how they completely wasted Tai Lung, Lord Shen, and General Kai. I would have been cool if Lord Shen and General Kai would have at least gotten a line of dialogue, but they we were just thrown in and barely had screen time. I am also disappointed about not seeing the hypothesized Tai Luang redemption arc coming true. That would have been deemed worthy.
Overall, the movie was watchable, but definitely wasted a lot of potential. Otherwise, it would have been next tier

@@cristalmagic8664 Yea, even with messed up end of KFP 4 regarding Kai (that isn't even supposed to exist), wasted opportunity of Tai Lung and Shen bowing down to Po, and kinda weak villain, the movie still left a really strong set up for next 2 movies with dragon warrior Zhen and spiritual leader Po, and since F5 was missing in KFP4, the character interaction between them could be really good.

After seeing Ruby Guillman being a box office flop that's just meh, and seeing that Orion and the Dark was fantastic...up until the second half, I wasn't expecting much from Kung Fu Panda 4. I haven't seen it yet, but after promising potential the previous films had, I had a feeling that the movie was going to be a third strike instead of a home run.
Still a shame the movie was going to be as good as I was hoping for it to be, though. I thought Kung Fu Panda 3, while albeit being the weakest of the trilogy, was a great continuation to Po's character arc. I figured that while a 4th movie might not be necessary, Po's struggling role of being a teacher could heighten his development.
Plus, I haven't seen any trailers or news of the movie to avoid spoilers, but the Furious Five's absence is definitely a red flag.
Bless you for mentioning Shrek Forever After too. It's not as good as the first two films, but it's definitely an misunderstood gem.

My conclusion is that _Kung Fu Panda 4_ is an imperfect yet enjoyable start to a potential new sequel trilogy for the film series. While it is not up to par with the previous trilogy, it has planted the seed for something more to grow in the future. Despite its awkward and uneven presentation, I hope the fourth film has not discouraged everyone from wanting more in the fifth and sixth films. It's not "OK". I love the Kung Fu Panda series, but this latest new movie is an insult.
Zhen knows kung fu, but the Chameleon can't?! Why?! Her excuse was because she's small....but what about Master Mantis?! He's much smaller than the Chameleon and he kicks butt! They even scrapped out the idea for why Po is going to Juniper City because Master Shifu was kidnapped and put in an enchanted cage. Furthermore, Shifu would of ended up seeing Tai-Lung for the last time reunion before departing back into the afterlife. Again, both ideas were scrapped out. The villain's name was lazy, her motives were contradictory, the stakes were very underwhelming and it was a major disappointment compared to the last 3 villains. The Furious Five were all left out and reduced down to non-voiced cameos. Li-Shan, Po's biological father, was reduced down to being a joke and weak, meek father concerned for Po's safety than rather than being a trained fighter and chi user, that was shown at flashbacks of the 2nd movie and the end of the 3rd movie. Zhen, the new fox thief character, who already knows kung-fu and the movie never explained how, when and where did she learned it from. It feels like she's just an addition fill-in to replace the Furious Five. Zhen is like the symbol of "girl power" and her "flaws" doesn't make sense to the movie, kinda making her a total Mary Sue girl boss in disguise.
In the end, the animation quality and the music are great, but the story suffered alot with too many plotholes caused by executive corporate meddling. The movie overall was not amazing by any means. It was just....serviceable, to make their money back. While the critics did give this movie a positive reception, the hardcore, true fans will know the truth of this 4th film's true value.

I watched KF4 on Saturday. Tbh, I liked KF4 but in my opinion, it had some flaws. I think Li Shan's (Po's biological father) character was a bit unnecessary in this movie. Sure, his role in the movie had to disguise himself as Po. But when Ping is trying to comfort Po after Zhen's betrayal, I felt like Shan was out of place during that scene. He should've had more lines. I wish Po gave the Dragon Warrior to Tigress. Both Po and Tigress have been close friends since Po defeated Tai Lung. During KF2, Tigress hugged Po and made him stay in the dungeon so she doesn't lose her friend. Her kung fu is amazing too. Maybe once Tigress becomes the new Dragon Warrior, have Zhen become the new member of the Furious 5. Maybe Zhen should've stayed with the Chameleon, she would know something is wrong and help Po fight the Chameleon alongside the Furious 5.

the ending was rushed, after the entire battle po just no diffed her after the director realized that the staff existed.
Shen and kai had absolutely 0 lines, villains were hyped up and marketed to be a big part of the movie but were in cages the entirety of the film.
the furious 5 weren't in the movie except for like the credits scene which they still had no lines.
the villain was extremely uninteresting, basic motivation, basic personality, backstory makes absolutely 0 sense.
most of the jokes didn't land and fell flat.
why did po have to choose a successor so fast? oogway was an old wrinkly 1000-year-old turtle or whatever when he took po in?

I think that Kai has a great potential villain sadly he's too wasted as a villain, the problem with the third one is less mature than the previous films due to reports that the second one is being too dark for kids. They never showed him how he's able to collect souls for his own benefit as a pawn and start using dark magics it less expands his relationship with Oogway the part he was saying " he betrayed me" shows that he kinda wants to protect Oogway by his dark powers, but Oogway had a change of heart since he was taught by a pandas to learn Chi so Oogway confronted and betrayed him cause of Kai's obsession to take other people's chi

Ok is a big step down from where Kung fu panda 2 brought the original film.
Kung fu panda 4 is what critics thought the 1st film was going to be, and that’s a bitter pill.

It's painfully average imo. It's fine, but nothing exceptional and I was disappointed with the old villains not having much of a role at all (Shen and Kai have like two voice lines a piece and Tai Lung has a like three minute fight scene and ten voice lines) because IT WAS ONE OF THE BIGGEST SELLING POINTS IN THE ADS. I'm glad my niece loved it because she's the reason I went to see it, but my worries were definitely warranted. I didn't expect the 10/10 masterpieces that were 1 and 2, but I set my expectations around the 7/10 that is the third and was still incredibly disappointed. Iþ just lacks so much of the impact that the first few had

Honestly ever since Dreamworks was brought by Universal Pictures, they been making more mediocre products than good nowadays.

All these review channels coming off mega mind 2 thinking a 4th installment movie is going to be the best one. Compared to other 4th movies, it wasn't bad at all

When characters are your LAST priority in your story, book, video game, movie, etcetera, the story is always doomed to suck, in my opinion.
