Each position, per week, gets a points value and the episodes in the season ranked according to that total. Heck, you could even do it yourself if you wish. That way an episode which ranks consistently at #10 will do better than one which starts at #1 and collapses to #20+.
I'm a huge Robotech fan, but I have to agree with you on Harmony Gold. I, myself hate that they have kept Macross out for all these years. Now, hopefully we will get some dubs of those shows soon.
Considering Yokko Kanno did work on the live action Cowboy Bebop, and Plus was re-released in theaters last year, I could see her possibly coming back to the franchise. I wonder if this will be the first time in a while Macross mechas will be cells instead of CGI. Sunrise is basically the only studio that does real-style robots and doesn't animate them in CGI. On the other hand, they may keep Macross's mechs as CG for consistency's sake, which would still probably higher quality animation than Macross, because their experiments with CG have all been in side movies and or OVAs that retell stuff that has already been covered so they decide to completely redo it in a different style.

It would be interesting to compare *Anime Corner* audiences for seasonal anime charts to Anime Trending. For example, Anime Trending loves the Gundam Witch from Mercury to stay in top 10 but for Anime Corner, it never ranks high. Dangers in My Heart got #1 this week on Anime Corner with Oshi no ko absent.
I'll have to look into which volumes of the Made in Abyss manga are getting the box treatment, because that's definitely something to put on some kind of wishlist…
Yeah no I actually had to ask where to find volume six of Bloom into You because I wanted physical copies for my bookshelf and it was out of stock on Amazon and no one on eBay had it and Books-A-Million was out and everywhere else I looked it was out of stock so I ended up ordering it from the publisher and it took 3 months to get here.
Speaking of music would you ever consider remaking the OST ranking list? I assume the obvious answer is it’s not worth the copyright hassle but I think there have been so many great scores since and also the old video is hard to find having been blocked and reuploaded and xyz.
If crunchyroll can have the anime series linked with the music that is in it. Then that would be pretty awesome. Like watching an episode of demon slayer and you hear this fire playing during an epic fight and there it is in the episode extras.
I want another musical anime kind of like Narima Daikon Brothers. Such a silly parody anime but with bangers of song. Have not seen the sub but I love the dub. But it's a real musical they pretty much sing all the time.
Crunchyroll. . .anyone else fed up with oddball season numbering. "Hey I just watched the latest Demon slayer. I better stop the vid before it ends and autoplay's on to Season 54: Mugen Train!!!!"
We need a better metric for measuring the interest in a current anime season. Be really cool, though unlikely, if we could break it down further and figure out who's interested in what. I want to know the actual demographics watching x anime series!
Hey, I know Violet Evergarden is one of your favorite series, but I don't think I have heard your thoughts on the two films. I would love to see a review about them to find out how you felt.
I get why some people might like Heavenly Delusion but I’m kind of struggling with it between the school plot holding my interest far more than the outside plot (despite taking up much less screen time) and the not inconsistent use of sexual violence or the threat of it in ways that feel either unnecessary or there for titillation…
I felt that about not being find that one damn volume published by Seven Seas. But I'm also a little annoyed because Made in Abyss is not even done yet, so why would I want to buy a box set that doesn't have all the volumes?
I really want a box set for Cross Game, loved the show and I just want to read the original material. Even got scammed once trying to buy the entire set.
I am a bit surprised Hell's Paradise and Dead Mount Death Play are not in top 10. They are both great action shows, but seems the charts, at least for this season, favor the bit more grounded stuff (wtih demon slayer being the only notable shonen action in top 10). Not that I am really complaining. I am watching and enjoying heavenly delusions, insomniacs after school, skip and loafer, dangers in my heart, yamada-kun lv999, and tonikawa, so like more than half the top 10 is on my watch list
Hell's Paradise was also on break that week. It usually ranks high on Anime Trending. As for Dead Mount Death Play, I can't speak for everyone but the reason I wouldn't vote for it is because they introduce ten new characters every episode to the point that I can't keep up, there's not a lot of action, and when there is, it gets ruined by the camera or the lighting
Regarding the Anime Trending chart: *Why is no-one watching Otaku Elf?* Easily one of the best series I've seen from this season. Extremely endearing character study with a really charming presentation and some fun historical edutainment elements.
I am very confused by why so many are saying "Macross lives". I follow Macross news so always seeing some level of activity with the franchise. Mostly events in Japan to be fair. However last year we had Macross Delta Live movie and Macross Frontier Labyrinth of Time special episode. Neither are a year old yet. With how some anime it can take over a year for the second part or seasons to release... I would expect a much longer hiatus on new anime content before people react to news on a new series as the franchise being still alive.
You are going to hate me for saying this but the sunrise news aren't as much about giving Macross a mecha glow up as much as it's giving it the expertise they have in making idol stage animation. It's about Love Live. Kawamori and Satelight are capable of making great looking Valkyries but they need the 2D dance sequences that Frontier had. Also the collab with Bandai has been in the making for a long time now and Kawamori has a history with Sunrise (0083 Stardust Memory) so it's all about making that big Macross push to western audiences and making up for the lost decades. Bandai has been releasing HG macross kits so it's about preparing so it's about brand recognition and game apps to cash in on the music and bleed wallets dry first and then a big expansive animation project that wins hearts.
Macross is alive and well... its RT thats dead. Satelight is headed by Kawamori-sensei they most probably be handling the 3d Valkyrie transformation so staelight will be attached in some way to the new anime alongside Sunrise.
I'm surprised Tengoku Daimakyou is that high this week. Like the plot of the ep was solid as always and the show deserves a high spot on the list, but the animation cuts were shockingly blatant. Like this was just a few levels off from being EVA level unfinished, and I found it incredibly distracting.
Hmmm... a new Macross series. They are so odd to me, especially in their consistent pattern. Short OVA series aside, they consistently followed this pattern: Good series -> bad movie(s) (which in all likelyhood rewrite the story of the series to an inferior version, that then becomes the official canon, instead of the good series D:< ) -> bad series -> good movie(s) -> back to the start with the next good series. Well... not necessarily objectively good and bad, but in the sense of whether I personally liked it or not. So in that sense, this new project should be a movie for Macross: Delta and it should be good. ^^
Macross hasn't had an impact in the traditional sense in the west. Two different tabletop game companies did get in contact with the Japan side of things in the late 80s/early 90s. Strap in for a long comment, as I have to explain IRL Mecha history in the west, again. I'm really earning the Comstar logo use today. Palladium Books expanded on the Macross II film, that is no longer canon to Macross's chronology, using the same version of their house system that powered their long lasting Robotech RPG. The Robotech/Macross II RPG isn't bad or overly complex Like rifts would become for character creation. Meanwhile FASA, in an attempt to actually try and shore up any grey legal areas, expanded into Japan with help from Victor Musical Industries. Why VMI? Simple, Since the first edition boxed set, there had been quite a few Mech designs pulled straight out of SDF Macross, Fang of the Sun Dougram and Crusher Joe. And then pissing matches ensued in the US over the Macross designs from Harmony Gold started because Playmates kind of "borrowed inspiration" of one of their Exo Squad frames from BattleTech's Mad Cat, while simultaneously launching a sub line based on Robotech. It would take until 2017 for the affected designs to be settled in a legal manner. You can still get the original designs in mini form on the secondary market, as well as earlier printings of the Technical Readouts that held them. Also Hating Harmony Gold is very common in the Inner Sphere Community (Because Battletech is very confused on the video game front and also goes under the name Mechwarrior. Hence Why I'm using the In univers name for the Region of space that the game takes place in.)
With Sunrise being involved, I hope Macross can return to its roots, closer to something like SDF, DYRL, Plus or (at the very least) Zero. They kinda lost me with Frontier & Delta.
Ironically, just in recent years, many people have said the same thing about Gundam due to a number of Sunrise's creative choices. I hope that this time there will be less reason for controversy.
@@andrewfantome4020 The difference being, Gundam is free to experiment with their Alternate Universe (AU) shows without meddling with the main Gundam continuity (UC). So everyone can have their own favorite AU Gundam shows which are very different from one another. Meanwhile, Macross main continuity has turned into something more of a "space idol show" than space exploration & conflicts with cool fighter jets & nice music with a heavy dose of romance + a sprinkle of idol stuff.
@@androyus I understand where you're coming from, but it also affects people's general attitude towards the franchise and the compatibility of people in the fandom, because Sunrise is constantly obsessed with expanding the fandom, even at the expense of tourists.
@androyus It always was a space idol show. In fact when you listed shows you forgot an important entry that set the tone for all future shows. Macross 7 is the biggest and most influential entry (though I think that Frontier has surpassed it). Plus wasn't even going to become a Macross entry originally.
I wish more people would talk about Magical Destroyer. Absolutely killer show that's such a fun watch every week. I've yet to hear ANYONE from the west talking about it. I know it's pretty nieche but it still feels sad to think anime is so big now but this type of show, nobody really cares

@@MDKcde I've had enough ship wars in G-Witch, I don't want to have that in the new Macross either. Especially in the "gay vs straight" format, which worsens any ship war several times over.
This is an anniversary project, so they most likely make something with existing property. But considering the fact that G-Witch was clearly one of the factors of choice, I would not be surprised if we see some kind of macross witch. Let and without Ichiro this time. Well, at least I think so, because I already have an overdose from his scenario style this year.
The original Macross released in 1982 so yeah it is an older series but it does get new entries every few years. The more likely reason you've never heard of it is that, like mentioned in the video, Macross has been in a weird legal battle for the past 30 years due to an American company trying to claim ownership of Macross internationally. As a result of this the Japanese companies that produce Macross haven't been able to release new entries of the franchise outside of Asia so they didn't get as much attention in the west as they otherwise probably would have gotten. Fortunately that legal dispute has finally been resolved and this new Macross should release in the West simultaneously as it does in Japan just like any other anime, it's pretty exciting news.

Well that is a lot of news, that is for sure.
Damn, I didn't expect to click a new GR video this fast
Yeah no I actually had to ask where to find volume six of Bloom into You because I wanted physical copies for my bookshelf and it was out of stock on Amazon and no one on eBay had it and Books-A-Million was out and everywhere else I looked it was out of stock so I ended up ordering it from the publisher and it took 3 months to get here.
Speaking of music would you ever consider remaking the OST ranking list? I assume the obvious answer is it’s not worth the copyright hassle but I think there have been so many great scores since and also the old video is hard to find having been blocked and reuploaded and xyz.
I love your videos man, keep it up
Also thank a lot for recommend Yori moi and Aria
I am really enjoying these additional vids each week. Very informative 👍.
very happy to hear about macross in anyway!
If crunchyroll can have the anime series linked with the music that is in it. Then that would be pretty awesome. Like watching an episode of demon slayer and you hear this fire playing during an epic fight and there it is in the episode extras.
Had to click immediately when I saw Macross Frontier
I want another musical anime kind of like Narima Daikon Brothers. Such a silly parody anime but with bangers of song. Have not seen the sub but I love the dub. But it's a real musical they pretty much sing all the time.
Other than getting Macross now in the West thanks to the deal, we are getting a Macross game worldwide next year!
Crunchyroll. . .anyone else fed up with oddball season numbering.
"Hey I just watched the latest Demon slayer. I better stop the vid before it ends and autoplay's on to Season 54: Mugen Train!!!!"
Excited for Macross!!!
I would love to see a review about them to find out how you felt.
thank you for the heads up about the box sets.
I'd defo consider buying orange.the manga is so so good and definitely worth the read
I get why some people might like Heavenly Delusion but I’m kind of struggling with it between the school plot holding my interest far more than the outside plot (despite taking up much less screen time) and the not inconsistent use of sexual violence or the threat of it in ways that feel either unnecessary or there for titillation…
Back in 2016, I watched Orange for the rail infrastructure.
Got a crunchyroll ad lmao
For anime competition is key, From CrunchyRoll, Hidive and everyone else.
Can you sprinkle in reviews along with the news🙏
So nice of you to come out the Closet on pride month. So Stunning, So brave
I never watched your channel before now.😀😀I'm a gentle viewer😀😀.
😀😀😀😀😀😀
Reminders about Yoko Konno and Macross made me pause this video, go re-listen to Voices, and then come back.
Sunrise doing Macross is a nice surprise considering they are the king of mecha anime and idol anime.
Macross with Gundam production values and a Hiroyuki Sawano OST, OP and ED by Aimer LETS GO!!!!
> idols singing like cat girls
me: he's gonna play the nihao nyan clip, isn't he
set up is looking great but the snaps just not the same hehe anyhoo hope you are well Tristan
Hmmm... a new Macross series.
Do you watch macross from the start, with the one from 1982 or is ist one that constantly gets rebooted?
Its basically one timeline, but with time skips
@@andrewfantome4020 Ah, I see. Thank you. I'll be sure to watch it.
my day is ruined, there was no sound effect with the finger snap
Sad that Dr Stone season 3 is under the radar
Crunchyroll really needs to improve their video player, especially on console
What do you think of toei doing another live movie but this time Saint Saiya Knights of the zodiac live action movie ? Did you like it was it good or did it fail let me know because it did not stay in the theaters very long ! 🐲🐲🐲
CR going into music?
RIP RUclips anime OP songs, one could almost sense the rush of DMCA notices being sent out as we speak.
I loved og Macross, 7, Plus, and Frontier. Didn't like Delta that much though.
Macross trying to dip in on that new Sunrise Yuri Sauce.
I don't want to say anything about Yuri, but modern Sunrise is clearly drifting towards commercial all-female anime for the widest possible audience.
@@andrewfantome4020 It's gonna be great if the love triangle this time around is a Male Idol and a Military Girl pinning for the same Female Pilot.
@@MDKcde I've had enough ship wars in G-Witch, I don't want to have that in the new Macross either. Especially in the "gay vs straight" format, which worsens any ship war several times over.
@@andrewfantome4020 Dealt with it nerd, it prints money
@@MDKcde Dealth with it shipper, this creates toxic conflicts between people and destroys not only the fandom, but also shipping as such.
It's just not the same without a show that Tristan will absolutely lose his shit over, like "Ice Guy" back in the winter. My popcorn is getting stale.
I suppose we should be happy that Crunchy Roll isn't making their own original music.....yet.
Okay.
Nice news GR
Hopefully macross under new direction will return to its war drama roots. But its likely it will be just another cash grab probably.
Great 👍🏻 video nice 👍🏻 hype!!!!!!!!!!!!!’
What is Macross never heard of it must be old anime?
I like Oshi no Ko, but it's so nice to not see it on the weekly. I enjoy the other shows so much more
Which shows specifically?
@@raec5426 Heavenly Delusion, Hells Paradise, Dead Mount Death Play, Mashle. I'm not saying these shows are infinitely better in any way. But I am enjoying them more.
@@aintgotnaan I would say the shows I have enjoyed the most along with Oshi no Ko are Vinland Saga as carry over, Heavenly Delusion, Dangers of My Heart, Skip and Loafer, and Insomniacs After School. Haven't quite connected enough with Hell's Paradise and Mashle.
@raec5426 you seem to like the drama/romance series. Nothing wrong with that. I started skip and loafer and just haven't got around to keeping up. It's good though. Mashle makes me laugh sooo much
@@aintgotnaan Yeah, I do like that. I can like a variety of stuff if it's interesting/entertaining to me. I like how Heavenly Delusion has a different vibe from many anime this season with mystery and post apocalyptic setting. I feel like with Mashle I'm not finding as funny as other people are.
Yet another week of Tristan coping about Otaku Elf's position on the chart.
But it was a lovely closet. 🙂
I will access niconico through microsoft edge on my xbox before I use crunchyroll for music in anyway shape or form
From what you've said, Cruncyroll's way of going about this music thing seems so...outdated!
You know if you like the elf anime thats fair you can like w/e you want but I wont say its good. It has the same feel as Urumaru, Nagatoro, and Uzaki.
then again im not one to speak since I also like my trash anime from time to time.
Stay strong my red and white CDN brother.
Still goona watch your vids b/c, just b/c I disagree with one take does not mean I think you make good stuff.
Crunchyroll is great and whatever. But it would take something majestically mind-blowing and innovative to drag me away from listening to JPop and anime music from Spotify (my favorite music streaming service).
Tomikawa is so stupidly slow I've all but dropped it, I loved it but it's going nowhere fast.
imo, Anime Trending and Anime Corner are pretty... dumb lol. They sure feel like they have a derp preference :P and too niche
Macross - could be the best anime of the decade. You're implying that Macross isn't the anime of the decade.
Outrageous.
Tonikawa doesen't really have anything interesting going on its kinda of just the slice of life of new married couple, like its good atleast 7/10 maybe 8/10
And that's okay. How many times does anime go past a confession and focus on the relationship?
