    This is an honorary escort of a police officer that is been driven in the car to his retirement party that is about to retire, so no time pressure and a nice opportunity to show of their skills. This doesn't happen much but is a nice way to salute the officer to retirement, but also a great opportunity to practice for the escort detail.

      I assume, with no specific knowledge of your question, that they typically have a large window of opportunity to plan the route.

      Well, for one thing, it worked pretty nicely without them; I get the feeling that the dutch are quite observant when it comes to the road. Also, this whole operation is more of a private thing -- sure, it's probably been cleared with everyone involved, but at the end of the day it's not an emergency run. Likely, they actively chose a time with low traffic as well.
      So, I'm guessing they kept it a bit on the low side and only used the sirens at the end. Which, I guess, also works nicely for the passenger in terms of "choreography" -- more isn't always better, if you chose the right moment.

    • @fryfrysk
      @fryfrysk Месяц назад +2

      Blue lights without sirenes , give no legal priority ( Prio 1 ) and the use of both at the same time requires permission from the Dispatch Senior officer ( Inspector ) . As this was not a real emergency the solution is to use blue lights only just to attrack attention of all drivers. In fact no legal priority 1 status during driving.
      However when stopped , the handsigns of the officers are legal signs, which always have to be obeyed by all traffic users.
      Use of only blue lights is to get somewhere faster without Prio 1 ( and is often used )

    What a pitty ..... tax payers money wasted to please someone. This is exact the kind of action that is reprimanded if any casual civilian does it and gets caught in the act. Those officers should know that they can not use service vehicles and/or means just to please someone. They are breaking the law where they should uphold it. And even if this mission was authorized by their superiors, those superiors should realize that they can not give such authorizations. The use of blue lights and/or sirens is only permitted in cases of emergency assignments .... which was definitely not the case here. When those who should uphold the law are the ones breaking it all respect for authority and law is gone. This is setting a really bad example.

      @@charlesmallo If it was a training run the fact of "escorting" a colleague was of no importance but only a side effect. Thus in fact the title of the video is a lie: the escort would not have been a present to a colleague but just a training run. Which of course sounds a bit less dramatic or appealing than what is proposed here. This only underscores my initial comment: what a pitty.
