I am very DIY, but your solution is so clean and well thought out--and I didn't want to order from several different places, etc.--so I just ordered the turn-key unit from your site. Thank you for all you do for us DIYers. I have built several 48-volt LiPo battery banks based on what I've learned from your channel.
Thanks for all the videos, I made a solar charger trailer for my ebike but I only have a max of 90W (3x30W pannels) that I run in 12v setup. I use 4x 12v lead acid in parrellel and need to remove weight. After building and realizing I was over weight I thought I checked the price of lithium and pooped myself, thought it was hopeless for me. Thanks to your videos and site I just need to save a bit and build some powerbanks better then I thought I could get. My solar setup over charges my lead acid and a bit over amps, best conditions I get 6amps. Will be nice to have something that can actually eat 6amps.
Can I use this as a drop in replacement for a server UPS 12V lead acid batteries? Or will I need to change the UPS electronics? Or do I need to replace UPS electronics with a charging circuit that has constant current, constant voltage electronics? Suggestions? Thank you for your great video.
Hello @jehugarcia , appreciate for sharing your knowledge. I just received this 12 v battery exact same bms is on the way. can I get away using the bms without the extra board? I guess question is if I attach the bms on the side, and use small wires to connect to the pins on the battery. main discharge leads will be same leads on the battery right? some other BMS's have bigger wire for leads. but I don't see any big lead wires on this BMS.
Yes you can, you’ll have to figure out how to connect it, use cable sized correctly for your load, small loads can use small cables but big loads require big cables
I love the clean design. Is there any concern that these cells specify 3.5v max when typical Lifepo4 cells are 3.65v? Maybe a configurable BMS could ensure the cutoff is set to 3.5v to accommodate these.
not really, we are testing charging these cells up to 3.8v and it doesn't seem to be a problem, you will probably loose some cycle life but it seems to be minimal.
A few of us ordered the heltec bms from the link but they didn’t come with the screws and nuts. Do you know what size the nuts and bolts to attach the bms are?
Hey @jehugarcia, when using something like this to start a car, would you have any concerns about the BMS disconnecting the battery while the car is running? I've heard a bunch of RUclipsrs warn of a large voltage spike occuring when the battery is disconnected, which supposedly will "fry all the electronics". Is this a legitimate concern? It seems that any Lithium car battery running a BMS would be prone to the same problem? Which makes me wonder, do they run a BMS or not? I'm picturing like Antigravity branded batteries that are marketed for motorsports.

@@jehugarcia my real concern is to power with my EV conversion project of 96v.. (2packs - 48v in series) While the same pack I can tap during power outage used as 2-48v in parallel....
You really leaving the standoffs on the vehicle battery cable side that way? How long you see that board lasting when it’s constantly flexing from vibration? Those plastic stand-offs aren’t connected to anything and resting on top of the LiFEPo4 Bus bars… gonna be tapping away like a woodpecker.
Great project! I had the PCM made but none of the hardware links in the PCBWay page worked for me. Can any one provide the correct links to purchase the hardware? Thanks
Alguien que me explique cómo se fabríca una batería de 120v con LiFePo, todos los BMS que he visto son para 72v, how build 120 volts LiFePo? What BMS can use?????
You'd likely save money by building your own battery. If you bought this battery you're paying extra for the bms and also you wont be able to charge all of your batteries all at once, so you'd have to buy your own 72v bms and wire it yourself either way. If you're building an EV you likely will need many kilowatts of battery capacity.
Stop talking nonsense, years ago, we built electric cars with LiFePO4 that would put out 1000A. If the cell supports Burts of 600A then it will put out 600A

Am I wrong in thinking that the cathode is generally negative and the anode is positive?
just looked it up, apparently it depends on context. meaning they can be either.
Depends on if you are charging or discharging (From a electrochemical perspective at least)
That is what my training and 45 years of experience tell me as well...
@@yestrep333 If you check the voltage on a battery that’s at rest it’s normally the anode that shows a higher voltage compared to the cathode.

Would be pretty cool to do an LTO version that can charge low like lead acid etc. (and massive C rating)
as a complete drop in replacement for lead acid etc
Why could you not use these cells as a direct sla replacement if temps are above 0°. 600 amps should be enough for most gas engines.
@@brenthawkins204 You could, but if they go below 0C you're going to have a bad day because you can't put a BMS on it. LTO are almost indestructable.

yes these should be links to it on this video

Nope, LiFePO4 can charge up to 4v safely, all LiFePO4
