- A Mopar drag racing legend! Some history of these drag racers, and how the owner of this Dart is keeping the legend alive! #hemi #dart #dragrace #dragracing #mopar #moparornocar
Nice video of an iconic factory racer. The hemi darts, ford thunderbolts,SD catalina's, just shows what lengths and credence was given to winning races and selling cars was done 1/4 mile at a time. The dart was the ultimate evolution of homoligation race eligible vehicles that did it's job so well. It's the zenith of factory racers. Ilike them all.
Wow. What a magnificent beast! Owning one would be such an honor. Nothing else could compare to a HEMI Dart!
It's an amazing car, with pretty exclusive membership.
my dream car, that thang has gotta be worth a mill now with those signatures lmfaoo
It’s absolutely priceless and should be listed as National Treasure!!
I had a 68 Dart GT with a built 340.. built by Bo-Laws of central Florida.,. Ran mid 12's.. not bad for the time.. It was bright red w a white vinyl top.. never got beat in that car... Thanks for posting this video, brings back many good memories..
Sounds like a great ride!
@@paradiseroadrestorations it was.. I'd love to build another one...
The torque of those big blocks was insane. I had 68 GTX 440 - 4 speed with the 6 pack block. Built up 6 ways from Sunday with a nasty Purple cam. I swear I could have towed a bus on its side and not known it was there.
Great comment!
The 440 has more torque than a Hemi. The preferred street racer!
Great video of a fantastic car. They were brutal!
Like a sledgehammer!

As a cocky 16 year old from Erie Pennsylvania I was a 442 o's Racer back. Then I kept bugging my friend who had a coronet with a big 426 heavy in it. I kept? Telling. Him how bad I could beat him? Many took me out 1 day and he blew my doors off so bad I was devastated. I wish I had been smarter enough back then to realize that the hemi was the greatest engine ever built. When? I attend the various car shows all summer long in Cleveland Ohio. I always look out for the hemi car's regardless of what they were whether they were a Barracuda Or coronette it? Didn't matter. I look a mall up and I would love to own one but it seems like everybody that hasn't just doesn't want to sell them but I understand why greatest motors ever built?
Thanks for sharing that story!
They made great race cars who would’ve ever known dislike the 85/86 Malibu‘s
Great machine. A friend of a friend had a 440-4 speed and it was a mean machine. Would burn rubber in every gear!!!
Great upload. Thanks so much.
Glad you enjoyed it.
Great video! DREAM MACHINE
Hard to argue with that!
Rolling time capsule of a simpler time. I was born in 68 and my favorite car is a 68 hemi barracuda
Very cool Daryl
I've always said this about the sound of Hemis... If you listen closely it sounds like two cars idling, both with aftermarket cams but one more radical than the other.
My father was a service manager at Palmer Dodge in Indy. I was there the day that they delivered their HEMI Dart on the transporter. It was in primer grey paint, open exhaust with slicks on the back. My father had to sign for the car because there was no cirtificate of origin. Just a bill of sale from Chrysler. It was an automatic transmission car. Would love to find it now!
Cool story!
Let us not forget, Mopar started this in 1965 with the same package idea when they built 100 Plymouth & Dodge's with the same Race Hemi. Although their weight came in around 3400 pounds they dominated the Superstock B class.
The A990 cars won a lot of races too.
That car in my opinion is a National treasure along with Carrol Shelby's Cobra's and Cobra Coupes... They did what they were built to do....WIN ! And they did just that. That's what American's do !
Their performance can't be questioned.
Wow ,, I Wish I Own That 68 Dart 🤠🇨🇦
You and me both!
The car 3020lbs. But the hemi engine was 800 plus lbs.
That is a massive engine? Wish I had a 68 fastback hemi 4 speed.
Stick Shifts for Life...........
Huge motors! I like the stick shift too, my preference.
Chevy thought they owned the world with the COPO 427 ZL-1 all aluminum engine Camaro in the late 60's.......Not with the L023 HEMI Dart to contend with..... These were the two BADDEST not really for the general public factory built SUPER DUPER Muscle Cars......You young people think the Demons and Cobras got these two cars beat but, take away the Nitrous ( the 60's cars breathed just air) and take away your Superchargers ( the 60's cars did not have air jammed down their throats) and it would be an interesting race day !..................THANK YOU, PARADISE for making this old Mopar drag racer shed a tear of joy. My friend Ronnie Sox and his mechanic Dave Christie ( my cousin Dave ) both remembered in the deck lid signature barrage is very cool... Thanks again !
I am happy you appreciate it!
🏆Beautifu🏆l I was lucky🍀 enough to own quite a few mopars from back then🌠 nothing like that had 69 super Bee and so on🍀 got r done😎✌️
Do you have any pictures of your Super Bee?
@@paradiseroadrestorations I wish I ✨was 18 plus had the matching Coronet with a 440 73 Challenger 73 charger 74 power wagon and a 100 I now have a 2019 short cab square box ram with a hemi and few more
@@paradiseroadrestorations possibly track it down when I bought it it had Hawaii license 🤔
seems like a very optimistic view of 1/4 mile time you could say with a few mods this would be possible the Ford Cammer and the Ford Coyote are the motors that truly set the bar overhead cams with or without induction 600 to 700 hp the one necessary ingredient for fast 1/4 mile times
Ronnie Sox in a BO29 Hemi Barracuda ran 10.52/131 at the 68 Springnationals. Arlen Vanke, also in a BO29 Hemi Barracuda, ran 10.64/118 at the 68 Indynationals. A little more research will reinforce those times for the LO23 Darts as well.
That Hurst shifter is from a 1967 Pontiac G.T.O. .....if you look up the Hurst "his & her-st" shifter plate the 67 has the 4 fasteners in the corners and 68 does not.
I looked up other LO23 Darts, and they all had the 4 fasteners in the shifter plate.
The ultimate grocery getter!
I just my opinion would love to not here what is already known about these ausome cars over n over again but would love to know the real history of said car .most of us watching and click on 68 hemi dart know about how but my option where it was found who was it bought by where was it raced who was it raced by pictures of when it was raced you know aka the info of said car .please someone else has to agree with me .stunning car for sure but history of said car would be so much more interesting
I will definitely add details like that when I can. I am hoping to do videos a little differently in 2024. Thank you.
who ha mopar stevo
Sweet Dart!! Check out my 1968 Barracuda fastback powered by a 512 stroker. I think you'll approve!
Sounds pretty nasty! My favorite second gen year too!
@@paradiseroadrestorations Thanks. I appreciate it.
I'll take one in black, how much? Just kidding!
Where's the time machine?
Nothing ever came close to this Dart. Anyone could order one, you needed slicks and you were on your way to the track.
Loaded for bear!
Im punishing myself watching this, as a 19yr old kid I bought a 1 owner low miles 69' Gt with big plans for it, but partying in the 70's didn't leave me any money to do it and Jack Daniels wrecked it one nite.
Bummer.
Cuda was better looking
Double check your records Ford thunderbolt
Great video. Can I ask who the artist is playing the background music?
The song is called Twilight Train by Dan Lebowitz, from the RUclips audio library.
Is this for sale
Pretty sure it's not for sale.
