It’s come to a point. I wanted to cull my collection and curate down. Now… I’m going through my Blu Rays & 4k to see if there’s any value in there.

I don't care about the monetary value.
The value to me is having a collection of my favourite films I can watch any time, in great quality, that cannot be edited, altered, recut or adjusted in the future.
That’s my problem with the collection. All of these titles… are not my favourites. They’re ones that make up my collection but not ones that I care enough about.
My favourites. 100% keeping for those reasons.

It has indeed helped towards the target. In fact. I’m just editing the results video. Hoping to get it up later today.
When selling on eBay I normally plot out specific end times so I make sure I’ve got time to post out within a couple of days. Love seeing how quick they get to folks 😂
Kudos to you on the cull. It can be a difficult thing to do. You'll have the software in no time.

Got a few comics that I already had listed on eBay. They should top up the lot nicely if the Blu ray fail to sell (there does seem to be interest there for most I listed though 🤞🏼🤞🏼)

Yup. It’s a common thing too.
Doing these videos has helped me realise my addiction in relation to just gathering and hoarding these things.
At least now I’m looking at things with a purpose… some have that resale value still.
@@PhillwithadoubleL Yeah I see it all the time in the Facebook groups, people getting a hard on over the worst movies cus it has a steel/slip/atmos an trying to out do each other for a 5 seconds buzz of posting a picture up of it, expensive competition really when there could be another higher quality format just lurking round the corner 🫣

If I didn’t have previous problems shipping overseas I’d have opened up the option.
I do find shipping costs extremely expensive now, but added to that. The issues I’ve had in the past just make it a stressful (and costly) experience.
Keep T2 blu-ray. The 4k quality a lot of people say looks waxy and color changes to the background are really bad, some wide shots you'll barely recognize.
Agreed. That’s why I haven’t removed it before and why I was hesitant in this video.

I think when I cleared this lot… there’s gotta be another shopping video to see what I’d actually ADD to the collection. Don’t want to be too regular with shopping videos though. I don’t need that excuse to spend on a regular basis 😂
Dude, I seriously suggest you open up the Sealed white box of Clint Eastwood movies. They are all individually sealed inside and you can sell/trade them for more out of the box. I did that with mine when I bought the Clint Eastwood Signature Collection
Man, why didn’t I think of that for this set. I mentioned it for the IKWYDLS and Urban Legend 🤷🏼♂️
I hadn’t listed it yet thankfully as I didn’t have a good enough box for shipping at the moment. I will take your advice and crack that bad boy open to sell individually. Even if it’s trade in at CEX it looks like they do indeed fetch more individually.

I did the same recently as I said. I traded in one title for £8 credit at cex and couple others. Then sold the 10-20p trade ones on ebay for few quid as they were brand new Sealed so made my money back and then some for the set to go towards cost of the £200 (in CEX) white signature collection set

Not just mint. Some of these bad boys are still sealed too.
But yeah, the hoarding is probably gonna pay for my RUclips videos to some extent 😂

It’s a big collection but with a big collection, the best stuff kinda gets buried or forgotten about because there’s just so much other ‘stuff’

Just one I know that I’m not going to get to anytime soon. I couldn’t see it being one I would pick out to watch over so many other titles in my backlog.
It could come back in some form… just not until I’m ready for a proper viewing. It doesn’t need to sit here waiting.

Yep, hoarding / addiction. Really… it was outa control. Think I’ve realised how bad I got the more videos I work on. Think the subject and talking about things just made me think things through a little more.

I’m going to go for Final Cut Pro. Did consider others but not sure I like the Adobe subscription plan and I seem to see the most tutorial videos available for Final Cut. Some of the RUclipsrs I enjoy watching seem to swing towards Final Cut too so I got drawn towards that one
Dawn, and Day of the Dead are great, but not for everyone.
Think I’ve just been spoiled with the more modern FX. I recently rewatched the Dawn remake which I enjoyed again.

Blackhat got an Arrow release? Wow...didn't know that. I have the standard blu which I haven't rewatched since seeing it in the cinema. I own both that DVD of Near Dark and the blu with the terrible cover art. Probably keep both. I didn't really like The Final Girls. I kept the blu without the case in a binder for some reason. I did that for a short time with flicks that I didn't like quite enough to display or ones that had broken cases. Another bizarre aspect of my collection. LOL. I love the Tales From the Crypt movies. I would suggest listening to the Bordello of Blood commentary, which is quite fun. I liked The Departed, but it's just not one of the better Scorsese flicks, IMO. Did you watch The Seven Ups? I have that on blu but have never watched it despite hearing good things. Another fun video. Good luck on the sales..
Yeah I was swayed to the Arrow release of Blackhat because it had a directors cut of the movie on there. It’s only been out a couple of months now I think.
I’ve got a few in binders now. Think a few more will be heading there soon too. Just don’t want to go mad with having loads of binders. lol.
I didn’t watch The Seven Ups. It kinda came off the back of watching and enjoying Sorcerer. Wanted to grab a couple more Roy Scheider flicks. This was one of them. The amount of times it’s been sat here and the build up of other stuff… it has to go. Although it’s one I haven’t listed yet.
I have both of those Alfred Hitchcock blu ray box sets and to catch a thief which all up is 17 movies and of those 17 i have watched 10
They’re generally decent movies. I just can’t see myself going back to many which is why I’m letting these go. Want to avoid keeping movies unless there’s that rewatch value in them for me.
Bought the original Dawn of the Dead Second Sight when it was released. Not touched the CDs or books so sold it for a profit and bought the standard Second Sight edition instead! Bargain.
That’s been my consideration with a few titles on my shelf… the extra stuff in these limited sets I don’t really get the use out of.
No question they’re great looking sets but when I’m not making use of the extra things… seems kinda pointless keeping them for the sake of it.
Love that second sight release a standard edition at the same time as the limited now.
@@lp7399 that’s the one thing with these limited and being a bit of a hoarder / collector. Theyve been kept in good condition and there’s a good portion that will sell relatively easily.
In equal part though, I do have a bunch that are pretty much worthless now.

@@lippmb78 it’s a double hit on this… I’ve been wanting to cull some of the collection for a while. Having this purpose kinda prompted me on to actually doing something about it.
Lots more to go through but I’m not sure there’s as much value in those. Step at a time. Getting these cleared and also some of the old comics I still have.

Not for the movies necessarily. I’m a big fan of behind the scenes content.
Still think Peter Jackson is a fascinating director and his behind the scenes stuff is generally really interesting to me. (Same with Guillermo De Toro)
Ended up doing exactly the same with my Hitchcock collection. For the same reason.
Bought because I felt there ‘should ‘ be films to have 🤦🏻.
There certainly felt at one time an amount of pressure as a collector that you had to have certain key titles or directors in your collection… if you’re a true movie fan anyway
But over time, I’ve realised. That kinda pursuit is pretty empty if we’re. It going to make use out of them.
We’re not all fans of the same thing. It ridiculous to collect to someone else’s standards.
A guilty feeling that I’d rather rewatch a Michael Bay film over a Hitchcock one sometimes.
Ok, that might have been an extreme example but… I’ve not rewatched The Rock in ages and I’m in that kinda mood

In some of my culls people have asked why I’d get rid of a ‘good’ film over another. And it got nothing to do with how great a film Is - or is perceived. It’s more to do with the rewatch ability factor. I sold my Hitchcock collection on eBay. And it has nothing to do with my thoughts of those movies in that sense. Just I know. I would honestly never fancy putting them on to watch again. But a Transformers movie I would 🤷♂️

Castle Freak is not bad
One I intended to watch… one of many though. Had to prioritise some titles. Unfortunately, this was not a priority viewing title for me 😔

Barbara Crampton… I’ve been floating around an import of Suitable Flesh, don’t think there’s a decent UK release. Also like the director Joe Lynch. Used to religiously listen to the Movie Crypt podcast he does with Adam Green.

Culling the collection 😢
Not everything though Matt. Pretty sure my shelves will remain fairly well stocked… just considering which titles sit here either little purpose (for me).

Looking at your shelves you got rid of a lot of great movies and left some truly awful movies in your collection.
Yeah, some great movies I’m getting rid of but… great movies that aren’t getting watched or I’m unlikely to watch again.
Sure. Some of the movies I’ve kept may be awful. But, they’re ones I might go back to on a more regular basis. Plus. Some of the awful movies may not be to your tastes but… we all like different things, don’t we ?!
I want my collection to be… MY collection. Not just keeping movies because they’re considered great. They have to be movies for me and that I’m going to get use out of.
